looking for transcription co that needs at-home part-timers and provides equip/software

Does anyone know of a transcription company that needs part-time at-home transcriptionists and provides equipment and/or software?  Thanks!

Leslie

Part-timers cost as much to have on the books as full timers with only
a fraction of the revenue. It costs the same to run a check, mail things, send equipment, set up with IS, etc with PT as FT.
can any part-timers tell me...

If you have requested time off without pay in the past and if it was at all a problem?

do they take part timers?.....nm

any part-timers for JLG
Just wondering if there are any part-timers for JLG- wondering if you went from full-time to part-time? What are the requirements?
Why don't they want part timers? sm
What is the quota for full time? I think they're missing out on some good MTs who for many reasons can only work part time.
user friendly software
Is there really a user-friendly software?  Is there one that you don't have to type in demographics anymore or at least get paid for it if you do?  Is there one that is actually fast and doesn't require a lot of changing from screen to screen?  What would it be?  I am not a computer savvy person, but it seems like all this technology is taking us backwards.  Also, I don't suppose you would like to tell us which company you work for.
Yes! There really is user-friendly software out there. /sm
You have to do your research, and ask questions in regards to companies with user-friendly software. Both companies I work for use proprietary software that is Word-based. It is all internet- The IC position software- I never change screens, the jobs download in seconds, press one key and demographics fill in (for which I am paid, including headers/footers)- tab down and there's the page you start typing, One click to physician roster- everything right at your fingertips, i.e. account specifics, BOS guidelines, etc. Full-time position - only two screens (demographic) then transcription screen. Everything at fingertips, doctor roster, etc.
Will never understand why part timers get
same or better pay than full time people. I know they do not get paid benefits, but it is still the full time people who are the backbone and need to be appreciated.
I know there are some part-timers working there.
There aren't any benefits available to PT though.
do they hire part-timers?
I'm not sure I'd want 1200 lines a day. Is that a requirement?
It is tough on part timers.
I think that's probably the point. Webmedx benefits by having more full time employees. I don't personally like it because I'm part time and it's a pay cut for me, but I do understand.
I believe it was just the part-timers that got the e-mail. sm
Work volumes are extremely low, however.
Anyone use Cquenc software? User friendly or not? Thx. nm

No longer paying any PTO for part-timers

With the push of a button and an email going out, they informed their MT's today NO MORE PTO for PT.

How do part-timers "kill rates?" nm

Part timers often do not carry their weight.
forcing the full timers to pick up the slack and resent them.
Does Keystrokes hire part timers? Thx. nm
s
There are no part-timers being hired anymore.
They are FT only.
Are the part-timers quitting DeVenture?
It's been about a month now with very little if any work for part-timers.  Anyone else quitting?
Does anyone know if Webmedx hires part-timers? TIA (nm)
zzzz
I think part timers will be giving up their benefits?! sm
I got an uneasy feeling in one of the conference calls when they were saying how excited they were about this whole thing and how things would not change.  I e-mailed someone at DeVenture asking if us part times would lose our benefits and the response was that she did not know and would have to get a hold of someone at Transcend.  I really need the health insurance that I now pay the whole amount on.  It doesn't sound good or look good to me, but will wait and see.
Doesn't seem to be a lot of others hiring part timers though

Transtech part-timers schedule question

I know TT requires their FT employees to either rotate full weekends or work a schedule that includes either a Saturday or Sunday.  Does anyone know if they require this of the PT people?

Thanks!

Webmedx- Do they offer bennies for part timers?
Also, what does the phone interview consists of.  I was told it would be a 30 minute interview.
I wanna think that OSI has an ad up stating that now have benefits for part-timers..Other than that,
I do not think many do. Everyone was saying how Wedmedx did, but when I checked into it, their idea of PT was like 35 hours or something, but I could be wrong and I do believe they are also fairly rigid about those 35 hours. I think anyone that offers health insurance is going to ask for a fairly strict schedule and probably FT but you never know. You might also check into your local hospitals. I know they do have insurance and usually pretty good for PT.
Older posts said the software was cumbersome and not MT friendly and that the pay was low. Hope

Any companies letting part-timers buy in on the health insurance? sm
Just wondering if there are any transcription companies where you can work 20 or 25 hours a week and get in on the health insurance plan even if you have to pay the whole premium yourself? Thanks
Webmedx offers incentive scale to part timers. NM

Does Transtech require one weekend day to be worked for part-timers? Thanks!
nm
The Transcend article has to be accurate as it is part of their SEC filing. sm
Unless of course they are pulling a Medquist!
Don't part-timers with Chronicle have to work the entire weekend? Saw in a recent ad. nm

Any companies offer part-timers chance to buy into group insurance? need coverage ....

I've been looking at prices for solo medical insurance and while I can probably afford some coverage, I'm feeling rather paranoid about having insurance canceled if I actually get sick -- I'm fairly ignorant about what protections may have been passed and may just be responding to other people's horror stories.

Anyway, I'm not entirely sure I want to work full time for any of the nationals ... they seem to have gotten awfully rigid wrt daily line counts within certain fixed hours ... some days I'm simply creaky and hate feeling pressured ... so part time to start seems more reasonable than jumping in with both feet.  Any infor or recommendations appreciated ...

Thanks!

...old timers. Very sad situation for many of us. nm

It's more accurate......nm
xx
But it is not accurate!

not accurate
They have never said I needed to complete my shift.  I make my 1600 goal before my 8 hour shift is over.  They care about production, not hours.  You do need to put on your time sheet FT hours though and not go over 40 but I think FT is 35 if I remember correct.  They have never chased me down after I am done for the day!!
not accurate
its not strange
it happens all the time at these companies
the whole teams let go where houly QC people getting paid too much
No, that's not entirely accurate.
What they require is 100 lph unless you are full time with full benefits and then it is 150 lph. It will depend on the number of hours in a day you work as to how many lines that day you need. And it will depend on where the payperiod falls as to how many payperiod lines that is.

You're on the losing end and don't even understand your own requirements if you think it is a flat 1200 lines a day and 12K lines a payperiod.

You are 100% accurate, VR on my end
has everyone on it, no exceptions. We have tons of ESLs with English. I know of no one who is exempt from being on there. I read others here who say their company does not allow this or that dictator to be on, not on this end, all the same and the ESLs, thank goodness, are on there, I am not pulling out the few hairs on my head I have left because does a really good job.
Old timers are thrilled to be promoted too sm
and especially thrilled when they get offered more for their experience coming in than sombody training for goodness sakes.  I just can't get behind that rationale.
Do you want quick or accurate?
Why go to a board like this for a question to do with your company's benefits? Actually, you would probably get a pretty quick answer by e-mailing your HR rep, and it would have a much higher probability of being correct!
Accurate Transcription -
Any info anyone?
IS accurate with my company

Very accurate post
I work for another national company, but you are absolutely correct. I, too, am always willing to help wherever I can. Too many days, though, I find myself working 9 or 10 hours just to get my minimum daily line requirement in. Looking up new drugs, procedures, etc., as well as having no templates to work with, I find my hourly line rate zooming down to 100-125 lines an hour. The worst of it is, as the poster correctly stated, we are seeing a decrease in pay for helping on these other accounts, so to what benefit is it to us?

Good post, and valid points!
more accurate info here

The letter stated they will ALWAYS need MTs to do transcription, VR can't do everything.  They also stated that the are evaluating the line rates for when we are on full VR accounts.  Honestly, do you expect to make the same to sit and read through these reports and make a few changes and send on their way as you do to type the whole thing?  I've seen a few VR jobs personally and the software doesn't miss much, so we should be able to pump these jobs out like crazy so a difference in like rate for editing is going to be offset by the fact that we can edit more jobs in a day than we can transcribe.  Industry is going this way and we all have to quit complaining or move on, this isn't new news has been happening over the years with all the bigger companies.

You can't get accurate OSI info
The accurate info is so damaging that is always deleted, you will have to depend on the archives if there are any left that have not been deleted.
Well said. I find this to be accurate. nm
nm
Really, you find this accurate? SM
There is no deduction in pay if you do not hit bonus or minimum numbers. Platform is much better than it was 2 or 3 years ago, faster with every upgrade. You do not spend 2 weeks on 100% QA review, I think it is 2 days to a week if you need it.
Mine is actually very accurate
I have compared my own line counts to the ones in ExText, and they have always been accurate. It may have something to do with how the company counts your lines, but I have never had a problem with it.
I do not think there is an accurate answer (sm)
to this question.  I generally transcribe 70-90 minutes daily, and I average 2,000+ lines per day from those minutes.
