And the director of HR. nm
    ...
It's actually the QA director in disguise
It looks like the type of junk she types.
BMTS and DIRECTOR, anyone know who sm
these companies are? Posted on job board.
    operations director
Call their nashville office and ask
sorry, I mean not the HR director, not department. A recruiter is usually under sm
the HR department, but is not the director unless it is a company that is so small there is only one person doing everything. If you did a chart, there would be the HR department headed by an HR director who is responsible for the administrative things in HR, not recruiting. Most directors really are not good recruiters. Most directors are also lacking in the people skills, but they are knowledgeable in all aspects of human resource law.

Sorry to say department above. I was thinking one way, typing another.
You talking about that goofy director they have?
Or how about the wonderful crab in QA?

Overflow work means you do not do full service work for the hospital. They send the company what they want to have transcribed, the company does not get all of the work. They do the overflow work for an HMO, several branches of it, but they do not do the full service work for them. They may have a nursing home or 2 that are full service, but that is about it.
One of those wacko posters was the Director of HR!

I know because he sent me nasty personal emails from a SoftScript email address with his signature block at the bottom.  I sent them a resume.  The next thing I know I get a not so nice email from the recruiter telling me I didn't pass their test and did not met their minimal requirements for employment.  I questioned her as to how she could determine this without my testing.  My resume clearly states almost 20 years of acute care MT experience with high QA scores consistently.  She insisted I had tested with them and failed.  I think I would have remembered taking the test.

I was blasted by the recruiter in an email.  I was frustrated and I posted here about a ditzy recruiter at SoftScript.  Well, this opened up a barrage of nasty, almost threatening emails from the Director of HR telling me I was just mad cause I was turned down, how bad my test was and my lacking skills, he knew I had been fired from all my jobs, what a wonderful MT the recruiter was, etc.  I still have the emails if anyone cares to see what type of management professionals they have at SoftScript.  Anyway, then the wacko came on here and started to do the same thing to ANYONE who said anything negative about the company, including another MT who had the same thing happen to her as me, turned down before she even tested.  So to sum it up in a work PSYCHO!!

Where at - in the corporate office?
or maybe you are management and get paid by the hour. I am guessing probably the hourly paid since you do seem to have a lot of time on your hands chatting all day.

I have 16 years experience and I did not maintain a job for this long with no skill.

Perhaps you should work on some SOCIAL SKILLS - you think? I have always heard if you're good at something you don't have toot your own horn, but you go right ahead and sing your own praises.
    The corporate media
they are ALL ABOUT protecting other corporations - and censoring the news is what they do best. Just look at bush.
    Ola Corporate Services
A most excellent company. The owner is very helpful and friendly. Great group to work for.
This is a perfect example of either corporate
We feel hopeful and excited that maybe, MAYBE, if the cosmos and stars align and unite, our employers may toss us a blessed $25 gift card, and you DARE BASH THAT HOPE???  I hope to get one as it will feed my kids for a decent LUNCH for once.  You bash us with our hopes and its A-OK for corporate execs to DEMAND their Christmas bonuses which generally run in the 6 DIGITS, and often 7.  Yup, that's not greedy, that's not childish, but a bunch of honest, hard working trusting soles transcribing for the health and safety of patients world wide are CHILDISH AND GREEDY for hoping for a crumb of the MONEY THEY MADE by the skin of their fingers for their CEOs.  Get a life. You are either swill of the earth or one of the CEOs typing with 1 dirty finger on your laptop in your corporate jet.  Fly off!
    Corporate mentality
I am sure at least some of you saw on the news about the hospital shootings in Calif. yesterday. I was just talking to my neighbor today, who is a Occupational Therapist there. She was saying how bad the atmosphere in the entire hospital has been for the past 8 months. Somewhere along the line I think the compassion and caring has gone out of corporate healthcare. It is only about the almightly dollar now. This particular facility has been very secretative about lay-offs in the past months. People get called in and told you have 15 minutes to be out of the building. What ever happened to two weeks notice, they want their employees to give them two weeks notice before they quit but when they want to get rid of someone they just smack them in the face with it. The rumors were flying that there were going to be more layoffs and the shooter, whom everyone says was a really great guy, was apparently stressed out over the fact that he would be let go. It is a sad situation all over but if the corporations would care more about their employees and less about saving a buck morale in this country would be alot better than it is right now. My neighbor said they brought in a new CEO and that is when things got really bad. The real tragedy is that the manager of the department he worked in had just come up with a plan by changing schedules, and cutting costs in some other areas he was not going to have to lay anyone off. Everyone is saying if only the guy had talked to his boss. 8 kids are now without fathers. The hospital spokesperson steadfastly denied any future layoffs but the rumor is they are going to happen in June, it will be interesting to see how they do that after they got on nationwide TV and said no more layoffs are planned. A really tragic story, the guys who were all wonderful fathers gone for nothing.
not only the corporate mentality of sm
the way they treat employees but also the way the medical profession treats patients.

I have a chronic illness that puts me in the hospital every so often and I am telling you the care (or lack of) is ridiculous. Hubby works for this particular hospital for the last almost 20 years and he says he fears the day when some idiot comes in and starts mayhem. We did have an incident three years ago where some guy whose son had died went to the office where the doctor was at and shot and killed him. Worked out that he wasn't so ticked at the doc but he was ticked at the care his son got in the hospital and took it out on the doc. I am to the point I think the whole medical profession is something to stay away from.
    Ola Corporate Services
I just want to praise this owner and company.  I have worked there for a couple of years now, and she is awesome!  Very easy to get along with--work is always available in whatever amount I request--and pay is ALWAYS on time and no hassles.  I love working here!
HR Department at Keystrokes is a director, a clerk/secretary sm
and a recruiter. The director is new but only does the legal stuff and is working on the benefits package, etc. The clerk is doing the paperwork. The recruiter is doing the recruiting, interviewing, checking references, passing hire info on. The pieces are in place now and you just validated what has just been put in place. I know there is talk of a second recruiter, one for radiology and one for medical records, but I think this is still in the baby stages. The HR Director heads the department but will not recruit.
Poor choice of wording - not management, new director.
    nm
Focus is advertising for "Senior Director of Recruitment"?!?!?!

What in the H-double hockey sticks is going on over there?  The senior director of recruitment has to transcribe and format reports?

What kind of a circus have they got going on?  They lay a bunch of people off and then post this bizarre position?

Run, run, run from focus as fast as you can...

The new Sr. Director of Recruitment is insinuating they are not an indian company...
by posting on another site that 90% of Focus' operations were onshore in the U.S.  Totally false.  And you are perpetuating the fallacy by saying there is change in the wind.  The truth is there will never be change at Focus.  It is an Indian based and run company!
Sorry, I dont. Maybe call Corporate.
    :
    Info on OLA Corporate Services
in California. I have never heard of this one! Anyone have any info on it?  Thanks!
Uumm, fellow MTs. Why would a hospital director be coming to our lil ole board??? nm
    :+
I personally never give the corporate contact as
a reference. I always give a supervisor that I had as reference as they CAN give a reference. Many supervisors do not stay at companies and it is always better that they talk to someone who knows your work. HR has to go by the rules of just verification. You can give references though so get together with your supervisors and see if they will either give you their contact info or a letter of recommendation. That always helps. Right now with all the MTs out there looking, I would try to get my feet planted firmly on the ground as soon as possible.
Why not call the corporate office / payroll? nm
    .
Corporate greed is driving it right out of existence
can afford to live in the United States and stay in MT. More & more of us are getting out. Some, like me, are trapped... been at it for too long (30+ years), and most of us are now what you would call the Working Poor. Back in my 20's when I came to that 'crossroads', I should've gone with my friend and learned court-reporting. So far their jobs haven't been teetering on the brink of extinction (yet), like ours are in MT.
Spoken like a true corporate sell-out.

Lisa and other corporate "hacks". You really outdid yourself on this one.
Been reading and watching a lot, but your posts are definitely the best I have ever seen as far as being totally inaccurate and misleading.

My first statement is that if Transcend is so ashamed of outsourcing/offshoring why do they do it. They need to be upfront about what they are doing and quit telling these lies. They do not just offshore work because there is no available help. They offshore work because it is cheaper. Too many nights I see 20 to 50 reports go flying off my screen while I work and I am left with nothing to do for the rest of my shift. If anyone cared about me and my having enough work, this would not be happening.

Transcend has publically stated that they use offshoring because it is cheaper - not because there is a lack of available help. They said they would not take work away from the domestics; but I guess my status is so low that I am not even considered a domestic. And your statement below that they would not use offshore if there was enough domestic help is completely absurd.

You and those other Fony ADHI people who have that stupid F after your name - those of you who think you are more important and better educated than the doctors - need to face reality. You picked up the phone after 'your public meeting and called Larry'. Who do you think you are? The most important person in the world? You are a brown-noser, trying to get settled into management by hobnobbing with the bigwigs. Did you ever stop to think that Larry might have far more important things to do than to chit-chat with you? Well, I guess it worked, you dug your way into a team lead position didn't you. And with that position you know just like everyone else knows that offshoring is not going away no matter how many state-side MLS there are in the company. You have just lost every ounce of credibility you may have had.

And how can you say that offshoring was your biggest objection to this merger. You obviously came over with TRS and they have a school in Barbados so even more work can be offshored. Did you object to them having offshore associates?

Lisa, its time for you baby ostriches to grow up and pull your head out of the sand and face reality. We do not believe you or anyone else that is trying to pass off these type of statements as true, just like we do not believe that we can make anywhere close to what we made with straight transcription by doing that VR stuff, especially with the problem-riddled platform that Transcend uses.

Things might settle down a little faster if you would just be honest.
I worked 30 years out in the corporate world
Suits are the same everywhere.  They sit on their asses in their fancy offices and rake in the dough and make the peons beneath them make their coffee and run their errands.  They rob from the poor and give to the rich!  I've talked to them, covered their butts, lied for them and even gave them sexual favors back when sexual harrassment was just a big word!  You must be married to one or you wouldn't be acting as if they poop golden eggs!  They produce NOTHING but spin tactics and good old boy networking!
A friend of mine works for a hospital that has hired a director from one of the hospitals in
Pittsburgh and she wondered if he outsourced a lot of work or what he did when he goes into a new hospital.  They have all at home employees now.  I believe it was Allegheny Hospital.
All of Focus is indian-based, except their corporate office in MA.
That is a smoke screen to make it look like a US based company. Imagine, indian MTs editing you an American MT with 10+ years of experience, and changing correct terminology to incorrect terminology. I could go on and on, but I won't.

All tech support is india-based, all QA is india-based, most mts are in india, except for the MTs here in USA working for them, all of their account managers are in India working the night shift (their time), day time (our time).

If you are an AAMT member, they have a mailing list that corporate sm
members can use two to three times a year.

I have no reason to meet with you, have a good job and certainly do not care to discuss with you where you send your work. I know what I read and it was quoted by a top official at your company. Even though you said the newspaper slanted the story like they wanted it to read, I saw quotes and never saw where the paper did a retracation of the story.

this is, in fact, doing away with medical transcription as we know it. rather than free text, there will be standardized text at point-of-service. even coders and billers will be replaced by the computers.

this is at the MOHCA site as well.
    Forget it
This is not a good situation. Line counts should be verifiable at any given time.
    Here's what I always forget to ask...(sm)
I almost always forget to ask if they pay for spaces and ADT info. Luckily, I've never run into a company that didn't. Also, ask about scheduling and hours. You'd be surprised how many companies still try to treat ICs like employees, demanding set schedules even though that's not legal. I always try to remember to ask about holidays - so far everywhere I've worked it's been the policy that if it falls on your regular day, you work it at regular pay. Most companies I've know DO require you to say which days you'll be working, and I do that because I know they have to make sure they have coverage, but I draw the line at telling them WHEN I'll work on those days. Ask if you can work as much as you want or if they have a maximum. One place I worked wanted everyone to do 1500 lines a day, no more and no less. That was weird, but I guess it worked for them. Find out any hidden fees like software licensing, foot pedal if you don't have the right one, etc. Good luck to you! I was an employee for years but now, after finding a good match for me as an IC, I wouldn't do it any other way.
    AND DON'T FORGET TO
    *
    don't forget
the trips to india and the generation of 2.45 million pieces of email
    And don't forget
One of the MTs on here posted not too long ago about being given a backup account but, even with the limit of 5 reports per day while on QA, there wasn't sufficient work for her to TRAIN on that account, much less TRANSCRIBE on it.

To the poster who inquired if things had picked up after the 32 MTs supposedly went to their respective accounts, the answer is NO. Nothing changed, still little to no work on many accounts.

Very, very frustrating all the way around, and creating a financial nightmare for many of us.

I suspect it is time to part ways with MDI. If they cannot respect me and their other dedicated MTs enough to let us know what is going on, then I'm afraid I cannot give the respect I normally give all of my employers.

As light as the work is apparently throughout many accounts, I doubt they'll even notice if I disappear.

What a disheartening way to end a previously-enjoyable relationship.

I wish those of you who can afford to try to stick this out well.

For those of you who cannot afford to sit back and wait for things to improve, I guess we'll all jump ship together.
    Do you forget?
I still have a dog in this hunt.  Maybe you should go and stew some more tomatoes or at least stir them.
    forget Transcend
They run out of work constantly. I ran out of work on my first day of training.

    FORGET THE RAISE
Was there 2 years and asked, did not receive!!!  Worked LOTS of HOURS and holidays and weekends for them (still kicking myself).  I am glad Focus is working out for you.  You would have to be in the minority though.  Communication is TERRIBLE.  If you are F/T and a real producer, you are constantly emailed, IM'd and even called while you are out shopping after a long day to Please log back in even as an IC!!!  Their cpl is not good at all but couple that with the way they count their lines (very questionable), you cannot survive on their cpl pay.
I agree with you, but don't forget (sm)
Back in the when you and I learned transcription at a teaching hospital, we had something right there in the room with us to say to, Could you listen to this for me?  That is a HUGE plus.  When they tell you what it is, and you can go back and LISTEN AGAIN, that has a lot to do, I think, with how we learned.  Just getting back a gazillion blanks from QA, just isn't as good a learning tool as listening again. Of course, that's just really not done anymore, so......Guess they will just have to find their own way to learn.  The thing is, a lot of people (and not just in this profession, but in all professions) nowadays do not want to take the time to learn anything hard or learn it correctly.  They just want to get through it and collect their paychecks.  Sad.
    Forget management
It is not worth the hassle. There are good companies out there who pay fairly.

forget the ones I work with...
Most of the hospital radiologists I type for are pretty good overall. Then you have the ones that NO MATTER WHAT, they are GOD and they will dictate the way they want to. Some will take it into consideration and, maybe the first few days are better. Then right into their old habits again. Therefore, blank here, blank there, long blank down here.
