Think of it this way, if they do lose the account, you lose your job. Just do your part and be a te

me three! that company is a lose-lose situation if you want
.
How could they lose an account?!
Too many goodbye e-mails for my liking, too. Makes me just a bit nervous to see Indians leave an Indian-dominated company.

Worse yet is the idea that they LOST a client! How on EARTH could something like that happen?

Use your company medical, dental, and eyecare benefits, people--you don't know what tomorrow could bring.
It unfortunately will be personal when they lose the account. sm
Is there any way to trace where accounts go?
They didn't lose the account, only one of the

work types, which granted was a large percentage of that account.  There was a conference call this week and the other half of the company has signed some very large contracts and will continue to cover the MT side of things for now.

I am working now. We don't lose the account
for another month. I also have back up accounts, so I am hoping that I can work on some of those until I get a new primary, but I know they won't provide me the 40 hours of work I need to get by. I figured I would wait until that time to start bugging my supervisor for another account. I would rather not be too pushy. Afraid that will make things worse instead of better.
You work extra or you lose the account!!!!
I for one know I do not want to lose the account, it sounds like you do not care, or maybe I just misread what you meant.
Get ready to lose that backup account when there is no work on it....
They are doing more hiring and they always overhire...
I am on the account too. This has not happened in the months that I have been on it. sm
We just were told that it will be back up in 10 minutes, that the problem is fixed. I have 10 minutes to catch up on here, isn't that sad???

It is very unusual.

So SE lose their SE bonus, lose the ability to work as much or little as they want and just
basically lose all around with no gain that I can see. Well, good for MQ. I am sure a lot of people will be moving on.
Happened to me. The company who
replaced us had the same objectives - use current people as the incentive so the quality of work would remain the same, but the pay was about 60% of what we made. The first day I worked, the company kept calling me to see what a few of the dictators were saying because they could not understand it. I quit the next day, told them I was not paid enough to teach their staff to take over my job.

A month later they fired the company and brought us back to work.
Every company is different. What happened
somewhere else would not be relevant to your situation. Some cmopanies lay off, some give you other accounts. It just depends on the MTSO and how busy they are.
Happened at my company a while ago; server down and they
I have a sneaky feeling happens more than they like to admit. I am truly sorry for TTers. This business is going down the commode.
Same thing happened to me. Distrustful Company
d
Would this happened to be for an orthopedic transcription company? sm

This sounded very, very familiar to what happened to me just a little while back.  They asked for SS# and address.  But never did send me the information I requested.  I sent an email back to them declining the position because I had to purchase equipment and then something kept telling me that this place was not what it was supposed to be...Just curious as if this is the same place...

Sorry that you had gotten your hopes up.  MT is a good field but the hardest part is finding a DEPENDABLE employer....Very hard.  I have been in this business for over 14 years.  I started when I was 18.  So, I know how frustrated you are, but don't give up.  There are a FEW good ones left.  Good luck.

how do we work it? Easy answer - work for another company. That happened with the company
I was working for. I would wake up at 4 a.m. AND ON THE WEEKENDS TOO because they needed "coverage" supposedly and I would sit until 9:30 or noon without any work. Sorry, but my rent of $1450/month could not be paid with only $57/day. So I got another job and when I got the equipment and everything, then I quit for the other employer.
Not company, own account. nm

It's just that I work for a company who had an account .... sm
that was partly taken over by Focus.  That is to say, we lost part of that account to Focus.  The platform used is Escription, but my company is not part of Focus.
Probably came out of company funded account.
dinky three
I think we are working for the same company on the same account.
I have a pillow-talking female dictator on my secondary account as well. Little to no work on my primary. It took 40 minutes to transcribe 36 lines with 16 blanks. E-mail me if you want.
I meant company not account

An account/company you are happy with, and the $$
I also live in a remote area.  Can't make as much or have the flexibility elsewhere.
I like my company but I hate my account..nm
xx
The scary part of that is you never know what account you will get when you go with a new company.
That is what worries me most right now leaving my job. I know my accounts. Companies are not always honest about what account you go on and if they have long time MTs they probably have the best stuff so you get what they dont want.
Every account is different. The company is split into departments such as sm
clinic, Basic 4, radiology, ortho, cardiology, ER. Each has different accounts and each account has different specs. I know this sounds vague but you would have to talk to the office because of the differences in TAT, ESLs, etc. For instance, my account is ortho and there are no ESLs on my account. I do two docs only but my friend is radiology and she has dozens of doctors and most of them on her account are ESL (I think she is paid higher).

For insurance, it is health and can be for family. The benefits are OK but I am happy because I have steady work. I would rather have steady work than benefits that can't be achieved.
Sounds like you work for the company/account

I do FT.   I'm 17 hours short this week.  Fortunately there is plenty of work today, my day off.  I won't be able to get any overtime but hopefully I'll be able to make up most of those 17 hours.

I worked on that account with a company other than Transcend.
It was the worst. I was glad to see it go. Sorry for whoever got it.
That doesn't mean it's not a problem account for the company (sm)
It's sometimes in the company's best interests to let an account go if they're too demanding or whatever. Hardly reason to start a panic like they're losing accounts.
If your current company has an acute care account ask them
if you could try it, at least do a few files a day to see how you do.   If you do H&Ps and DS they won't be as technical as Ops or consults.  You should already be familiar with lots of meds and probably a lot of the diagnoses and labs, so there wouldn't be lots of looking stuff on.   If the hospital is a teaching hospital forget all the above because then you will have lots more terminology than you have in clinic, lots of new labs/tests, etc.
Overall it is a good company. Your paycheck, however, depends on the account SM
you have, and your level. I am currently a level 8 with a high number of ESLs. I like Spheris the company though, but dislike my account.
your company takes overflow or has a primary account
I really have no idea if this applies to your current situation, but when I worked at a hospital and a large MTSO took our overflow, some of the girls I worked with had no qualms about leaving (or perhaps assigning, can't really remember now) the horrible doctors to the MTSO. We had a monitor that showed all the jobs waiting in queue, and they would (or could, anyway) go down the list assigning themselves the good ones, thereby leaving the bad ones to the MTSO. I worked radiology and everything was in-house for that, but I would watch the acute care ladies do this.
Which is the reason my company lost a major account.

The quality of the work was so poor they didn't renew the contract.

Paid for spaces depends on the account. Good company. nm

My company lost the account I had worked on for 5 years. Webmedx got the
account so I followed it.   I have interviewed with about a dozen companies the last year and out of all of them the only ones I considered were Keystrokes and Webmedx.
The account is not bad but it has heavy Hispanic dictators. I worked on it for another company and
get used to it, it is a great account. If you really want a different account, just talk to them. They are really good about switching accounts for people. Call Becky in the office. She is the HIM coordinator now according to her email signature line. She is the best!
GOOD GRIEF -Love my company/account, Hate MedRite! Any help?
I love the company I work for, pay, schedule, account.  It has it all.  But they use MedRite.  This is awful!  Was this actually designed for an MT?  This is complicated, SO much mouse-clicking, and so SLOOOW - I am boring myself to sleep.  Typing is easy and quick but moving from report to report - Good Grief!  Is there anyone who has used this?  Are there any tips you could give me?
I miss YOG also! Good company, great line rate, and awesome account.
x
no exp with this, but what have you got to lose?
x
I think its use it or lose it. (sm)
Can't carry it over year to year.  I think if you don't use what you have earned before your termination day you lose it, most calculate what they have and take it in lieu of working their last day or 2.  I would call them directly on the telephone and ask though.  Forget the email, talk to a real person with the answer in the HR dept.
Use it or Lose it?
How can this be? If you are leaving the company, then you evidently cannot use it. There is ridiculous.
Well, you'd lose that bet... :)
Re: I'm betting, though, that you just want stay on these boards to stir the pot and whine.

Sorry, you'd lose that bet, but thanks for that useful information anyway.

Curious: Why are you judging me so harshly? My post was to see WHO would step up to helping RESEARCH the possibilities...

Let's not lose this
http://forum.mtstars.com/company/v/1/70000.html
Did you lose this job from the

good company because they expected you to work?  To look at it as a real job?

When people who work at home only work when they feel like it, it reflects on the rest of us.  Maybe that contributes to the our salaries going down and being offshored.  We don't look like we need or want to work.

Thanks for the contribution to our demise.

You'd lose that bet
because if MY company sold for 16.7 million, I absolutely WOULD have given all 450 people a decent bonus. (The world is full of stingy people, but I am not one of them).

I can tell you the news of the merger would have gone over MUCH better had she shared her good fortune with the folks who helped her acquire it.

So its nice for you to come to this person's defense but I don't believe she didn't CLEAR enough to share.
Because they will lose more experienced MTs...
And they need to ensure that they have enough people to handle the accounts.  If they bait the newbies with the good $ now, then they can put them on editing and cut the pay later but will have a large enough work force to handle the work.  That is the reason for the lack of work right now.  They have overhired in anticipation of the mass exodus that is currently happening and will continue to happen over the next couple of months.  The newbies will be brainwashed with the good pay into believing that Transcend is the best thing since bubble gum and will try to make it work because, as you may know, when you are a newbie, you are happy to get that first good MT job and are more willing to put up with the BS while they work the kinks out of the system, etc., whereas seasoned MTs aren't going to put up with that crap.
lose our jobs?
But, that is what we are already doing. I say UNITE - Now! Is it so difficult to see where this is all going? It is all aimed offshore - bit by bit. The only way we will survive is to get together and make them listen by STRIKING. We are being used, abused, and discarded. They are smiling all the way to the bank. What fools we are.

Be aware. There are company shills and spies on this and every board out there - be careful -
this is true and I don't want to lose a/c's..nm

until you lose your job to offshoring sm
your colors will change then.

What a rude comment for you to make at an emotional time.
and they lose them every month.
My supervisor was horrible. Ms. Tomato, we called her.
They may, but they'll just lose them due to the same
quality issues that caused QT to lose the main account in the first place.  The only thing is QT was still supposed to QA the work so once again management let us down.
No you will lose your benefits
I just quit WMX a few weeks ago, but worked there almost 3 years. You do not lose your benefits if you can't make your hours because of lack of work availability. However, you COULD lose them if you don't work your scheduled hours and don't account for them with PTO or non-paid time off, per your supervisor.
