I am a transcriptionist.

I am currently using it. I type in MSWord, copy
and paste in Meditech. One must be very careful to watch the Meditech screen to be sure you are pasting the right report. I especially like doing it this way because my Expander works with Word, and if for some reason the internet connection is lost, I do not lose my report but just re-paste when connected again.

I hate Meditech..there is too much to be entered before you ever get to the text screen, all of which we are not paid for. It demands a high rate per line. Otherwise, you work yourself to death and face applying for food stamps if the Meditech account is the only one you are transcribing. I would say 15 cpl is a minimum to get to break even...to break even!
I did that insurance stuff too. Hated it. Happy to type only 1 voice now
xx
I actually think it is called a typo, not a type. I am not being mean. Just trying to let her know w
x
I have 2 so-called primaries but type on 5 accounts every single day with all different specifics -
nm
Neither. You can copy into Word but cannot copy back into Emdat.

o

if your a slower typist, go for the $15, but.....
If you have speed and can utilize your normals, definitely take production. There are hours where I make $40 an hour at 9 cents per line. I would never go hourly.

They want typist who works for 9 or 10 cpl? Exactly
xx
I like what someone said about being a keyboardist not a typist sm

or something similar since I noticed that I spelled definitely wrong.    And I should have said the post below and not above.  But regardless, it is a US company that does not have anyone from India or any other country answer their phones.  As a matter of fact, Joy is the woman usually who answers the phone.  Say Hi from me.

Speed Typist

Well, with the Chartnet platform it is possible to get good line counts.  The problem is there isn't any work at this company.  They have lost a lot of accounts!  There is so little work and so many MTs that you will barely get the minimum line count!!!

And if your facility is outsourcing to them or you think (or have been told) that you will have a primary account that nobody else will be typing THEY LIE!!!

There are so many MTs that need work that they will be given access to your account!!!!  You will slowly watch your work go away!!!

After leaving this company because of no work I wish you much luck...You are going to need it!!!

I don't think "speedy typist" is the (sm)
determing factor.  Depends on use of expander, work types, dictator quality etc., your experience.  $800 every 2 weeks is definitely doable, but there are too many variables to just look at the job and say this amount of dollars for 40 hours.  Set your goals and work on it from there.
Well, that's what we do. It's an appropriate term. At least its better than typist. nm

nm

That is outrageous! I am not a good typist myself so sm

if they had said that to me, I'd know it for the truth.  What I am is extremely good with an expander.  I am not all that fast I don't think (300-325 lph).  If could get through more than 2 lines without having to go in and fix something, I might make more money.  I don't think I have ever gotten through anything other than a very short report without having to back up and fix something!  I have been typing for about 35 years or so and you would think I'd get it, but I don't.

I have only been an MT for 12 years and I'll bet you are very very good in every way (shoo-in aside).  Your typing skills must be top notch and I admire them.  Don't like the hiney holes get to you.

I am not a fast typist & I gave it a 100% try....
When you start VR you are training it. I repeatedly had to change headings, sentences, periods, etc, etc. I started typing on my second job more and came back 2 weeks later and nothing had changed and maybe a little worse. I finally quit. I am not a fast typist but it takes time to make these changes and breaks you rhythm. That is what I found. I couldn't make money and it was so BORING.
Anyone ever worked on Winscribe Internet Typist?
Pro's?  Con's?  Any information would be greatly appreciated!  TIA
That should read ... Has anyone ever used Winscribe Internet Typist?

It has been a VERY long day.  Thanks!

Eighteen years of typing and fast typist
I speed up the dictation so that it can keep up with me
I had no MT training, not a fast typist, and no experience in tranascription

whatsoever and started out doing Psych transcription.   I moved directly from Psych to acute care transcription without any additional training.  I even started doing some of the most difficult dictators right off the bat and the MTSO couldn't believe that I could do them.

Not management, don’t know about Transtech, fast typist, American, what have I not covered
Let's see, all the above have been said about me. I have been truthful trying to let others know about VR but the only thing most can do who are opposed accuse you of being too slow to make a decent salary, working as management, working for whatever company they are talking about and so on. I think I have reached my fill because others do not really care to understand. I went through why if VR threw in something wrong how a trained person would know and then someone came back asking if I were an American. If you cannot comprehend something seems like you just throw anything that might stick. I have tried because I have worked on VR now for about 7 years but no one wants to hear but what woes they face.
HATED IT!...nm
xxx
Hated it!
I don't even know why I stayed with them as long as I did.  There was hardly ever any work.  I would ask to be placed on another account for more work, but the other accounts had no work as well?!! No direct deposit.  My paycheck was never calculated correctly and it was hell trying to get the money I was actually owed.  Having to log every single job you do and every single mistake found in the job plus calculating the line and character count at the end of the day was just ridiculous.  I really have nothing good to say about this company.
I hated SPI
I quit SPI just over a month ago. I hated that place.
I hated it
Didn't make it two weeks. Management style sucked.
I hated it.......sm
But that is just me.  too many difficult ESLs, and they make up the majority of that account.....I never liked Docuscribe....
I did not like MT World either and I hated being on IM all day. nm
xx
Ditto, hated it!
x
Hated their platform, could not
make any money on it.  Constant technical problems.  I quit.
HATED ExText
Found the same thing. My production dropped dramatically using that system. The cpl rate was great but not worth it. With the time wasted, I could have been earning 1 cpl less and still making more with increased production.
I hated AC years ago, but....
I hesitantly applied for the RAD position. I don't know anything about Rad or Path with them.
I used to work for OSI and hated it
..
My friend worked there and hated them, but
I guess it just depends.
Are you kidding? I hated RadNet!
Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Ditto everything he/she said! Plus HATED the time

I hated to have to leave my last job for many reasons.
It was working in-house with great MDs and techs and other clerical people. But I felt the OM was sanity-challenged and I was extremely frustrated by her need to make herself look good and everybody else look bad. If you tried to do anything for the good of the company, she was extremely suspicious of your agenda. I now work for a company where everybody seems to be interested in putting out a quality product in a smart and efficient manner. What a relief to be able to concentrate on work! And yes, I actually took a cut in pay from a great hourly wage. It's a shame to have to do that, but it was better than fuming night and day over work for me.
I absolutely HATED Meditech.

Slow isn't the word!  The spellchecker was a total PIA to use and my text Expander wasn't compatible with it either.  My company did offer a teensy weensy rate increase but it just wasn't worth it...plus they recalculated the lines on us.  Meditech counted 55 characters but our bill rate was for 65 so it was like a double whammy, so what you saw on the screen was not what you got paid for.  Total ouch.

When I used Meditech, it was on a dial-up connection and when it dumped (several times a shift), guess what?  I lost my work!  100% completely unrecoverable.

Oh the memories still make me wince in pain.

worked there for a month--hated it. nm
x
Hated it enough to leave a company
that couldn't take the time to use it right.  When a company USES it properly, it is not too bad.  When they don't bother to have the doc's office fill in the necessary information and then not bother to build the necessary data bases, it is real hard to earn a living.
I hated working for Transolutions
The platform is terrible. I have never in my life struggled getting lines, always getting at least 250 lph, but on that platform, it was terrible. As for United Healthcare, be prepared for your premium to go up with that change because they are very, very expensive. I paid $700 a month at my last company with United Healthcare as the insurance. It was at Spheris, and I left after being employed there for 5 years because of the high insurance premium.
I hated transolutions also... the reason they
have so much work is because they can't keep people to do it. You will receive mountains of notebooks and papers during training to try and figure out, the platform is horrible, they DON'T COUNT SPACE OR PUNCTUATION Keystrokes PEOPLE, tons of data to enter on ADT screen, you have to manually add any doctor that is dictated in the report to the cc list (give me a break), lots and lots of busy work, QA IS A NIGHTMARE. I stuck it out for 2 months just in case the whole thing was just me, but nope, it wasn't, somehow lines just didn't add up. I couldn't get out of there fast enough! I would NEVER work for them or recommend them again!
My most hated dictators are not the ESLs, sm

they are sloppy dictators who talk at the speed of light and mumble but still expect an accurate report.

You're right that there is a lot of work.  I just wish we had a definite payday. It would be nice to know if I'm getting paid on the 4th, the 8th, the 10th or whenever.  That would be my only complaint with the place.  Otherwise, it is easy work with great people.

Left there last year. I hated the
platform and the dictators and voice system horrible.  I was unable to make any money.  QA was a draw depending on who you got.  Good luck.
hated it, quit after just a few days
because so many things were just plain weird and tons of discrepancies. Some things work with the keyboard, some don't. I could go on.
You will not be able to copy those from a MQ
computer. Believe me, I tried EVERYTHING! My husband is a computer whiz and said they have some kind of lock on their system that you cannot copy or transfer to another computer, sorry, but like me, you'll just have to redo your expander, I know it's crap, but you'll make yourself crazy trying to copy it, cause it just won't happen.
I worked for them for over 5 years and hated to leave.
I just quit in the last 3 weeks. I loved it there.

They don't hate their employees. As far as your Spheris-specific complaints above, found the exact opposite to be true.

They're not going down the tubes; in fact, they are headed toward taking MQ's spot as #1 in the industry. They are #2 currently.

I had many offers to do QA and even go into management but I preferred to control my income by MTing. I made top dollars with that company and they were always working with me.

I can see you did not have a good experience there. Have you ever enjoyed any company you worked for or have you always had these feelings everytime you left one?
No cherry picking here. I always hated that and love that about
TransTech. Their feeling is that you have to take the good with the bad.
Back in April they did -- hated that platform!!
One of the main reasons I left.
I hated Amphion, lasted 3 weeks
nm
Oracle........I hated it ....soooooooooo slow
xx
Yep...great insurance, but I HATED working for them.
For years I had wanted so badly to work for Axolotl. I was finally hired and found it to be one of the biggest disappointments ever. Left there and never looked back.
I hated YOG. I had horrendous accounts, couldn't get
samples, they called 24/7 wanting me to work extra, even 6 months after I left.  I was only there about 4 months and left before Carole sold-out despite saying she would NEVER do it.
My account is on Meditech, which at first I HATED, but now I do not mind so much. sm

You can look up old reports by the same doctor, information about the patient such as lab tests, medications, etc.  It just took some getting used to for me.

Like the other poster said, from the email that was sent out the other day, it sounds like they are phasing out part-time people, although I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask, especially if you want to work a shift where they happen to need coverage.

Good luck!

I used this years ago, first hated it, but once got used to it, it was not so bad. Good luck :)
You will get used to it. Build up a lot of shortcuts, like you are probably acustomed to. I'm sure you'll do fine.
