Should I run while I can still walk?
I took the MQ acute care test and passed. I am a newbie.  I graduated from Andrews.  I was finally offered a position with MQ. I was thrilled, even though I was told I had to start on clinic accounts only.  Let me say again, I passed the acute care test.  Now,  my first week at MQ, there is no work.  I was hired in to do only clinics per my office.  Know this is my first full week and I am begging for work.  There is no clinic work and I sit for hours waiting for work.  When I do get work it is very hard, unclear operative reports, even though I am only allowed clinic work.  I have emailed my supervisor, no answer. I emailed her last week also, and last night.  I am thinking maybe I should take the other job offer I got and run.  Any suggestions.
Run, do not walk...
To a company that will appreciate you. Did they give you a reason WHY you would be making less? I suspect it is because they want to fill their pockets with more of the sweat from YOUR brow. So it is $15 this time and you allow it. What next? Where will you say no - at 18, 20, 25? Go now with your head held high! :-)
Run don't walk :)
however, my *really bad* experience doesn't mean you would have the same situation.
Run, don't walk. There are much better
This company wants total perfection from the employees, then let them do the work with no errors and see how far they get. LOL. Taking lines away for errors is BIG red flag. I'm not perfect, are you?
RUN do not walk away from them!!!

Run...don't walk...from SPi...sm
This company is terrible.  They are all about taking money away from their MTs/QAs.  They offshore their work....which wouldn't be so bad, but they have accounts that have requested their work be done by USQA, etc...so you know what they do?  Train their people over in Coimbatore, Manila, etc., so they can obtain a CMT and then they use them as USQA.  How crooked is that?  I also know of an assistant lead QA who recently left there and right before she left, she was out due to mental/emotional stress that SPi had placed on her because she was required to work almost double of 80 hours in a 2-week pay period or get let go.  They also have issues paying you what you are due when you leave....so, this place has not changed a bit.  I'm glad I'm gone as I am sure others that have left are glad they are gone, too.
Not sure where they would walk to since

Run, don't walk!

Nastiest woman I have ever worked for. I quit and she had a fit ... sent me horrible e-mails on and on.

run don't walk
I'm so sorry to hear this.  I want to get out of where I am and was interested that MedScribe used ChartNet, an awesome platform.  Oh well.. so much for that good idea.  Guess I will stick with the sweatshop I'm at now.
Walk in my shoes

I am very small MTSO and it still gets hairy with turn around time.  All it takes is for one I/C to say, today I don't want to work -- which they can -- like the one above said, I want to work when  I want to and do as much as I want -- and suddenly she decides not to work, well suddenly that leaves 1000 to 3000 lines to be spread around, times that by 2 and what a mess.  You cannot control what and how much the docs dictate.  I would not hire someone unless they were strictly for overflow without somewhat of a committment whether it be the lines or time that the could do on specific days.  Imagine having 15 people with this attitude.  Like I said walk in my shoes, it is a balancing act.  Too much work, they gripe -- too little they gripe.   But someone that wants to work when they want, how much they want could not budget accounts that way.  It would be strictly overflow and then if you weren't available when the work was you probably would not stick around nor again would I keep you around.   Sure an IC can set their own hours but I expect a certain amount of work done in a certain amount of time to meet my TAT and not be docked because we didn't.

Run, don't walk away from this company.

All I can say is RUN, dont walk
Also a note to future hires, if you get put on the EditScript platform make sure you don't get the team lead who's name is T...wont say name dont want to get banned...but she is terrible.
Did you just walk into the end of this conversation? You really

I can't walk at the moment but

I'm definitely gearing up.  What burns me the most is that D says she's for the MTs, but where has she been these last few months when MTs have been starving for work?  Was she giving it to Transcend then?  How long have we been going without work because she was giving it to them?  And all along, she's been playing the supportive and caring act.  I think she quit caring back in April or May when we got that first shocking State of the Union about VR, cutting pay, etc.  It must have been in the works then.

What a complete disappointment.  I came to this company because of their loyalty to the MTs and now this.  Back to the pavement.

You mean the woman who took her time to walk me
through a problem at midnight one night? She spent her time helping me at their website and she did not have to do that. You call that hateful?

You people are too much.
Run, don't walk, away and read the archieves!
Not a good company to work for at all.  Psycho management. Very inconsistent and unfair.
Run don't walk away from Fast Chart.
I tested with them--and then I found out they were going to pay 6 cpl for IC work. Not only that, if you don't meet a certain quota, they actually charge you a fee to use their platform! They were rather fuzzy on the topic of whether this fee was waived if the failure to meet quota was THEIR fault, i.e. lack of work....

No experience beyond that; never worked for them, and never will, if that's the best they can do.
It is a very fine line you walk when you agree
to this - and you must be prepared to tell the IRS should you ever be audited (knock on wood) that the schedule you are working is the one you desire to work.  I would not commit this to writing - the employer is looking for trouble that way. You need to understand from the companies standpoint they need you to commit to a certain schedule because they need it covered - but I would not go so far as to commit to paper - just tell them you are a professional - you realize they need this coverage - and you will be there for them.
Here is my advice.......RUN, do not walk to the nearest phone book. sm
Look up Legal Aid of whatever city or state you live in. They are a group of lawyers and paralegals that do work for free or sliding scale, etc. They will do all the leg work for you. You supply them with copies of your documentation and any other records you have kept regarding email, snail mail, or phone calls.

The most important thing... when you talk to and deal with these people, document, document, document. Document EVERYTHING

Then go to the Better Business Bureau and let them know what is going on.

Call your state Atty General's office and tell them what is going on and give them copies of any documentation you have.

Then I would quit. I know she probably can't afford to and it is experience she may not be able to get anywhere else, but as the post below said, they aren't going to give her a good reference anyway if they have not responded to her mail and phone calls.

Let us know how it goes. Keep us posted.

Does anyone know what Chronicle
transcripts starts their MTs at paywise?  TIA
Chronicle
Newbie, I have worked for Chronicle Transcripts for 5 years and think you should look no further. I have found them a great company to work for, with good benefits. As for being overworked versus steady work, the work is steady; I have hardly ever been without work. As with any company, you would of course be expected to diligently work your shift, but I do not consider that being overworked, I consider that being responsible. So if you're responsible, love being an MT, and are looking for a great company to grow with, Chronicle would definitely be the place!
Chronicle
Sounds like a disgruntled one to me. I've worked for Chronicle for over 7 years and have never had any problems with anyone who works there. They don't play games, pay well, and always have work. They do expect you to produce quality work and be dependable.
Chronicle

Hi-

I just started working for Chronicle about 2 weeks ago as an IC.  Not sure if I can help much, but please feel free to ask questions..  I searched very long and very hard and kept spreadsheets and compared and on and on.  I received at least 5 offers and went with Chronicle.  Give my a holler if you are still looking.

Chronicle was okay

Chronicle
I worked for them about 2 weeks. I hated the platform and could not make any $$ so I quit. I could type and type and only make about 30 lines per report.
chronicle
working for them for a few months and very happy with them. I get good line counts and they pay right on time!!
Chronicle - NO
Worked for them twice.  I quit last month.  The Platform STINKS!  They just aren't MT friendly.  I don't like or recommend them.
Chronicle
Can anyone give up to date information on this company?
Chronicle
Don't listen to the negative things about the company on this board. Not every company is suited for everyone.
Chronicle is another one. You have sm

to have Word 2003 to operate their platform.  After getting that all set up with the thought of lots of work available and then NOTHING.  Now they are hiring again a week later with the same statement, a lot of work.

Chronicle
As far as Chronicle I love it. Don't know about Precyse.
Chronicle MTs
If you currently work for Chronicle and would like to network and perhaps find a friend, please reply.  Working at home gets real lonely sometimes.
Chronicle
Anyone have new info on Chronicle Transcription and their platform, work availability, dictators, pay practices.....?  Last post I found was from 2007.  Would appreciate an update with current info.
Chronicle
They don't pay for spaces and that's 17% of your document, what is not ever explained is you cannot compare characters to lines. You have to be told how many characters you need to do per hour, not lines, it's not lines they are going on, it's characters. And we still hit the space bar regardless of the 55 characters, actually if the formula is done right it should be 54 characters not 55, take 17% of 65, and it's 54 characters, the 17% is without spaces, or hitting the enter key, etc., it's what you see on the page, nothing more. You can type, and type and type and you get no where because it still takes the same amount of time to type 55 characters as it does to type 65, because we still are performing the keystrokes, but not getting paid for them.

NO MONEY ON THE VBC WHICH IS JUST A FANCY WAY TO SAY WE WANT MTs TO WORK JUST AS HARD AND NO PAY THEM!
Chronicle
I just finished my 2nd week, and I am really happy at Chronicle. I am not sure which account you are on but with my account there is over 1000 jobs available at any given time. My QA is super nice, but I did read that there is one QA in particular who is pretty tough to deal with. I have never had any problems with numerous rule changes like other posts mention, and I don't find that big of a difference with the VB line count. In 2 weeks, I only had Apex freeze up on me once and it lasted for only a couple minutes. From everything I have read, I think I must have gotten lucky with the account they gave me.
Chronicle
Apex is the platform I type on and I actually work on a multispecialty clinic account. Maybe you should check and see if you can be switched if you are not happy. Good luck, I hope things work out..
Chronicle
I have been there almost a month and the account I am on has a ton of work. There a few different accounts and I think one is pretty light on work. My training was great and the QA is really helpful and always nice. I work part time and although my income is necessary, I am not the sole provider so I don't want to mislead you by any means and say you will be set working there. They do go on a visible black character line count, so they do not count spaces, but 55 characters make a line instead of 65 and honestly, honestly, honesty I see little to no difference. In fact, I am a pretty slow typer and rarely bang out high line counts. My last job it would take me soooooo long to reach my line count for the day that I felt my closest relationship was with my computer. Now by the end of my 4-hour shift I find my line counts to be higher then ever. I am really pleased. I was just in your boat not long ago and I would apply and test and get really excited about possibly joining a company only to come on here and see a bunch of negative postings that would burst my bubble of hope.  I never even knew about this site until I became one of the thousands unemployed. Now I just come on to read the drama of the day.  Good luck to you and your family.
Chronicle
Thanks for your story, hopefully I don't end up feeling that way since it is really tough to find a decent job. I am thinking this has to be a different account than what most are complaining about from their past experience at Chronicle. This is not an acute account. It is a clinic. They have had it for 2 years, but I guess they were doing maybe only overflow. Now they have the whole medical center. I have heard of the trouble with Apex and have not had those issues, maybe because I added more memory to my computer right before starting. I have not had many questions yet, so I will have to wait and see what happens there. There are a ton of normals so it makes life easy and I do hear static but once the dictator speaks the static is gone. O-well, I won't crusade anymore but I am going to stay optimistic as I am quite happy so far! I am happy you found your home!
Chronicle

Can anyone comment on if the pay is on time and accurate?

Chronicle
Hi, I also started about a month ago and I was just wondering which account you are on? I never get any notices about formatting and I am on Apex also but maybe it has to do with the account? TIA
Chronicle
Sounds like the same account you are on. I will send you an email in a bit and chat more!
Chronicle
I have to second that opinion -- don't bother.
Chronicle

Does anyone  have any information on Chroncicle?

Thanks!

Chronicle Transcripts
I've worked for Chronicle Trasncripts for over 5 years and love every aspect of my job. I find the platform easy to use and in fact it is being upgraded as we speak.

The support offered by Chronicle is excellent, in my opinion. You get feedback from their QC Dept and they have a mentoring program for additional support.

Plenty of work, good pay, good benefits.
Chronicle Transcripts!!

Chronicle gets my vote!

Would anyone who works for them be kind enough to e-mail me for some private questions I have.  Thanks so much :)
Chronicle - any comments also

any one with recent Diskriter exp?  Hospital benefits sound great -- why has it been posted so long. Thanks everyone.

Chronicle California

Anyone work for them? How is/was it?  Thanks in advance.

Chronicle pay rate
Yeah, but the counting on the Apex platform seems to be very slow...  Headers very time-consuming, too.
Chronicle Transcription - What are the
line requirements for an IC?  Part-time?  Also, pay range?  Any if is appreciated!
