Would anyone who gets an email like this go for this job?  Has anyone else gotten anything like this recently?  Is it a bit unusual?  Opinions please.  Here is a copy of the body of the email letter.


 


In the past, we were in contact about medical Transcriptionist opportunities. I wanted to send you an update on positions available with Spheris that may be of interest!

ESL (accent) experience is not required for all accounts and we have account mentors available to assist in your transition. In October, notification was sent that Circle Trust was no longer the custodian. It's MG Trust Company now. They sent a link out that works fine, and a telephone number too. I'd contact HR if you can't find your email.

I swear, some people have issues with comprehension or they read words that are not there.  That email said NOTHING about firing people.  Goodness Gracious....or maybe YOU are worried because you are one who is NOT maintaining your line counts???? uggg....some people on this board.

Email and IP Address Confidentiality -- ALL READ

It is important that each reader and poster understand the safety of their information on MTStars: 


Email Addresses


Email addresses should never be typed into a post in any way.  The email address you validate to have posting privileges is never given or sold to any individual, group, company or association.

Can companies or individuals find out your identity? 


Yes.  Not through exposure of your information (email or IP address) but through recognizing situations you describe or other information provided by you when you post.  It is deductive reasoning.  If YOU provide enough information, you may be effectively “signing” your post.  This is true on any board, whether open publicly or not.  Even private boards cannot guarantee who their membership really is. 


Do companies and associations read MTStars?


Yes.  Anyone can read MTStars.  Information posted is searchable on the Internet.  Even a private board can be read by anyone who registers as a member. 


Making claims that MTStars provides, gives, exposes or sells your email address or IP address is a libelous claim and will not be tolerated.

You need to make sure you read these

posts.  There are many who are not disgruntled employees.  We are trying very hard to keep people like you from being taken like we were.  I guess you just need to learn the hard way.


Also, if you don't like what is said, then just don't read it or reply to it.  I only replied because I wanted to clear the air about why people post negatively about a company.  Each of us has our own experiences, but if you see many with the same complaints, then you had better take them seriously.

Mine did have 4 dictations. None of them were ESL, though they were a little more difficult than most tests I've taken.

Anyone can make up an email address.
If someone knew the OP's email address and made their own account to make it look identical, it would be a valid email account.  If OP's email was maryjones12222@hotmail.com, anyone could make an email account as maryjones1222@hotmail.com or maryjone12222@hotmail.com.  It would be a valid account, but it wouldn't be the OP's account.  It doesn't mean it would be undeliverable.

I read all read all the threads in the "companies" section
of another board, MT Chat, and Googled each one that got positive reviews. If they had a website and a way to apply online, I did so. And that was how I got hired at TRS. They were not advertising at the time. By sheer coincidence I applied to Transcend just before I applied to TRS, and they were not interested in what I had to offer at the time. And now they've got me anyway, since they bought TRS. Interesting how things work out sometimes.

Companies with negative reviews, or company queries that got only a terse I sent you a PM reply, I passed over.

Basically, this is what I'd like to know.. You can email me the information if you like..First off, are they hiring for ortho? and what is their scheduling like, FT or PT, IC status or employee etc. I would like to find a company that is pretty flexible. Also, what platform do they use? I have worked at some like you were saying, took forever to get the line count and I want to work 8 hours and be done. Oh, do you have benefits, and what are they like if you have them? Thanks for any information you can give..

Great post! I make 0.085 at Keystrokes and make more than at any sm
other company in the last 5 years. Why? Because there is always work for me. I love starting work each day, knowing that the company I work for appreciates me and has plenty of work. Transtech and Keystrokes sound very similar; those of us that work for either can count our blessings that we are not part of the cesspool or huge corporate mess that makes up the biggest few companies. We do not have to worry about our jobs getting sent overseas and we see a future in this business!!!

and it seems those are your posts, too, so things just didn't add up and seemed inconsistent. If a place dropped me down to p.r.n. at 7 cpl or whatever and I already had another job where I could get 1000-1500 lines, I wouldn't give the first place a second thought so just couldn't figure out why anyone else would.

The email said the owner as she is the owner of the email software package. sm
We got the list from AHDI. If someone does not wish to be on our email list, there is a link to click on at the bottom of those for opting out. We immediately remove those that click the link.

We also have a few mailling going out. Same thing - if you opt out of the email program, we will remove you from all contact.

We need transcriptionists for many new accounts and have ads on here and other sites, as well as several magazines. We are going to need over 100 MTs in the next 3 months due to new accounts and more work on existing accounts!
But we don't even make what in-house make.
It would be different if we made the same as the in-house MTs.  In a lot of cases, most of the people working in-house make much more including benefits than we do at home as full-time employees.  That's where I think the unfairness comes in.  The in-house employees don't all work every single weekend.  Most of them rotate at a much higher salary and much better benefits.  The MTs at home are expected to fill in for the in-house for less money, less benefits and give more and more back in the form of weekends and holidays.   Most remote MTs only receive benefits contingent on production, and even then they're not nearly as good as in-house benefits.  How is that equal in the healthcare team perspective?

I make $1.10 per report and make much more sm
than by the line. Day by day it varies and goes back and forth, but over a long period, it is better by the report. Make sure they pay links though; this is key.
Do Shapin MTs really only make 6 cpl and QAs make 1.5 cpl?

Why can't you make money with all OPs? I do all OPs and make
good money.  I'm not with WebMedX though. 
I'm happy with what I make. I still make more than if I went anywhere else and hardly noone in th
biz gives raises so I feel blessed that I make a lot more than most, raise or no raise.
And always make sure you don't make line
counts that amount to anything.  They always place you with impossible ESLs as soon as you start making decent money. 
I make more than that with Spheris but never have work. I would rather make $1.25 and have work. s
My SIL works for KS, and she gets paid double for linked reports too. Where do you get $2.25? I am ready to leave Spheris.

Girl... you are absolutely right on target and now even after I read your comments, I never knew OSi outsourced. That to me is a SLAP in the face. And you are right about the promotions. I have applied for different jobs and told they were already taken. when they have a job available, they KNOW ahead of time who they are going to hire. and you are right about the "welcoming thing, saying welcome so and so, when we didn't know there was a job available Now that I know they ship work overseas, I am totally OUTTA here. And you are right again, you are NOT paid extra fo holidays, weekends, or shift differentials.

OSi will promise you the world if they want you bad enough.  Then once they get you, the promises are null and void.  I see where they are finally following through on their annual raises that they promised years ago that no one ever got....and FINALLY, a holiday incentive?  Wow, they must really be desperate.......I worked for OSi for many years, gave them my all and got nothing in return except heartache in the end.........do what you want, but just be looking over your shoulder every inch of the way and get EVERYTHING in writing!

I had never even heard of MTStars when I was looking for my first at-home MT job.  I would have never accepted the position I currently hold.  Every time someone tries to encourage others to apply at "my company" the negative banter that follows only does more harm than good.  Just wanted all to know you can't believe even half of what you read on here.  Mostly just ex-employees of wonderful companies that couldn't quite make the cut.

In fact, I can't read any posts regarding Transcend.  First time I heard of Yahoo even having a message board about them.  If you can still access it, could you please copy and paste it and email it to me?  I'm very interested in this, concerning the constant turnover & turmoil with that company.  Thanks.

Please read....

This topic has come up before and this concerns me as well.  I saved a post I did on this board a while back.  It's edited a little but the message is the same.  Here it is. 


I've worked in many pathology departments, referral labs, and the like. And I'm here to tell you that there isn't a single pathologist that I have met that is willing to go with VR let alone outsource their dictation. NOTHING will convince me otherwise. As for radiology, I am seeing too much of it being outsourced to ever believe it will go totally VR. Besides, VR is an absolute joke! Y'know that old phrase? Garbage in/Garbage out? Well, there are many docs who have already found out that's just how VR works. Just TRY, and I mean just TRY and take out the human element out of the picture (meaning the transcriptionist) and you will have reports coming back that are even worse than what is coming back from India!!!!! A question here....a very serious one......don't you think that if VR was more effective in transcribing reports that all the companies outsourcing overseas would go with VR before they did that? Something to think about. I've been around since 1990 in this field and they have been saying that VR was going to replace transcriptionists back then. Well, here we are 15 years later and quite frankly, VR hasn't even made it past first base yet. The doctors, the naysayers if you will, the big companies, etc. will be trying to find anyway they can to save money, cut costs and so on and the bottom line is, it will NEVER HAPPEN. The Transcriptionist is here to stay. There is absolutely no way you can take the human element out of this picture and have the absolute best quality reports/charts/medical information system on the planet....PERIOD.
