I worked for a company for 6 years that was then bought out by iMedx. They slowly transitioned in their India team. I had to edit an account to train them on it. The quality was horrendous. Wrong medications, wrong dosages, wrong ages, on and on. It wasn't just medical terms wrong either; plain English mistakes. I lost money because I could have typed it all faster than I could edit word for word and make so many changes. I was only getting 0.03 per line editing. I finally told them I could no longer do the account and within 2 months I was out of work from them totally. So I basically trained myself right out of a job. I can tell you we received patient lists on this account, which listed patient names, DOBs, sex, home phone numbers, and cell phone numbers. In the last year, I have gone from making average $700-800/week to about $300-400 per week so my pay is cut in half. Also as an IC, I qualify for no benefits, not even unemployment.
