I'm the one that had been having so many problems and heart ache with these companies I was trying.  I quit MQ about three weeks ago and I have been through one company and others that seemed to be not too good.  I may have a job for $25/hr with full benefits near my home.  I am just hoping and praying that this will be the job for me.  I have to drive a ways but at least I think I will get along with the supervisor.  She seems so nice.  I am so excited.  Hopefully it does not fall through:(

Webmedx - Benefits and Full-Time Status

I'm a bit surprised that I haven't seen any posts regarding the new requirements to be considered full time at Webmedx beginning in 2009 -- 40 hours per week rather than the previous 35 per week.

I guess it doesn't surprise me completely, but I'm not all that happy about it. An extra hour a day of work isn't high on my list of activities I want to add to my day. I already have a hard time fitting everything in.

Anyone else want to share their feelings about it?

just one more question....do they have regular full-time employees with benefits or......sm
just ICs?  Thanks.
Happy working at home

I love working at home for a hospital.  I don't have to share work station, books, equipment with anyone.  You have to teach family and friends that you are really and truly working, and to leave you alone during work hours.  It's easy to allow intrusions but set rules from the start.

I had to work in the hospital med rec/MT department for a month and while I enjoyed the people, I hated being there in a windowless dingy room.  At home, you create your own work environment.  My two coworkers at home are two cats who keep me company.  Good luck!

Can a Diskriter MT tell me when health benefits begin (90 days, 1st full month)?
nm
It is perfectly legal. You need to be FT to get benefits. You need 12000 lines to be full time. I
period so there is no issue. Why do some people here try to make everything ugly?

What the person did NOT say is that it is averaged by quarter. So if you do 12,000 lines one time, 15,000 the next and 10,000 the following, it will balance out. They also do not count it against you if your account is slow.
I am very happy at Webmedx and love their benefits. SM
We have 4 little girls, so benefits were very important to us. Very good coverage, low copays and deductibles. Good luck :-)
In the early days, MedQuist said working at home was a benefit, therefore at-home sm
employees did not receive as many benefits as those working in-house.  As I believe, it was something like at-home employees got 3 days off a year versus 10 days for the in-office employees -- WHAT?!!!  I told them it made no sense to me, since by working at home I was saving them money -- no need to provide office space, equipment, references, utilities, etc. -- yet I get shafted.  I was only part-time when they took over the previous company with their great policies, and I told them to kiss where I can't.
to USE it, sorry, I am excited now...nm
xx
Excited
Just finished training, they are extremelly thorough!!! I am thrilled to be starting with a company that is a "TEAM"
LOL - That's too bad. I was about to get really excited about that. :-)
s
I was all excited...
when I applied and they asked me to test just this past week.  I was in the process of logging onto their testing site and ready to download the test/voice files and it would not download for me because I have Word XP Home Edition.  You have to have the Pro Edition.  Darn it anyway!
I'm SO excited!!!

Fed Ex just left after delivering my system and equipment for TransTech, which now makes me an official TT'er.  I'm SOOOOOO excited to be on board with them after the great things I've read here.

(Yes, I am prepared for someone to trash TT in response and attempt to rain on my parade, but the attempt will be be futile cuz I'm totally jazzed to be on board with them!!!  )

I am totally excited!
I can't wait to get my packet to see what this is all about. I will not be leaving MQ.
Whooohoooo!!! I am excited!
Thank you so much!
Thanks. I'm nervous and excited. nm

I was just hired, too. I am very excited.
nm
Did it ever occur to anyone that this gal is EXCITED about her
.
Correction: Don't get all excited now...they are NOT paying at least 8 cpl.

excited in a scared hopeless kinda way

I agree...not all bad. Initially was very excited about working for them.
As far as the Shorthand program, I don't know - could just be my particular program. All I know is it cost me a lot of time adding in just the basics of what I needed.

Management couldn't have been better, and communication was there, but that only goes so far.

I was also off QA after a week, but I would rather not have been. I was pretty unsure about a lot of things regarding account specifics that were unclear, so I sent a lot of reports to QA anyway. For the most part QA was reasonable, but there were some things that I thought were not. Just one example that has stuck with me: The doc said, She gets her meds from (s/l) parcel (I thought, as in parcel post). Then I thought it might be a drugstore named Parcell/Parsell. I also thought it might be some type of state program where they paid for meds in part, as in partial. So I went searching account specs for parcel/partial, and didn't find anything - ended up leaving a blank. Well, when I got my QA back, I was told it was Parshall - it's on the account specs - and I should have found it. Lo and behold, it was there ok - on the cities list! After that, I wasted even more time searching account specifics, second-guessing myself, afraid I would miss something, fretting over the most minute things that had nothing to do with patient care whatsoever. I should have felt free to leave a blank after searching the first time and wait for QA feedback, but because of the example above, I didn't.

I finally got a grip and quit, and I'll never put myself in a position like that again.
Okay.. It is just so unusual to see anyone on this board so excited to hear about a new job.. Maybe
we've all just become too cynical. They must be newbies though. Boy oh boy has the newness of jobs wore off. I have been looking but I just never get that excited. I just think, oh, I just hope this one is better than the last bad experience. It is hard not to get cynical sometimes, isnt it? We all just want a place to call home and there is just so much disappointment out there. I was impressed that they were so excited and couldnt wait to here from PMSI.. oh well back to my drawing board. I guess time will tell if it is everything they were hoping for.
Show of hands: Who at MQ is excited its finally OCTOBER?
Packet time and for many, Big Decision time...
Yep. couldnt tell you excited we were to find out why we dont hardly have any work. Obviously, it is
going elsewhere and so are we.
Right and told we should be happy we have jobs. Not too happy right now.

MDI Maryland HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY
THIS IS NOT MDI IN NY OR FL!!

I can't say enough nice things about this company; very flexible, you area a statutory employee. That means that they pay the employer portion of your SS. Great on time pay, tons of work. Do your lines and you are left alone! Expect to be responsible though. Pay for your phone; rent a Lanier or a C-phone if you don't have one; BayScribe platform. Anything that is a bit of an inconvenience is more than made up for. You will know to the minute how much you will make and how many lines you have typed. Check it out!

ek is full of it.
sorry ek but you have been outed.
you are full of it
nm
OMG but you are full of yourself! sm
You know, we really want to be behind you cos I'm sure all of us would HATE to be in your friend's shoes, but you sure are alienating all of us with the way you respond to us.

Please remember where your anger should be directed -- toward the guilty party, not US.

And telling us what to post is really over the top. (Support the post or don't write anything please.) This is a public forum and we are all entitled to our own opinions, and just because you said to not comment on how the situation got to where it is now does NOT mean that we have to comply. If someone is curious, they have every right to ask. You may choose not to answer, however.
did that at home...
worked for a court reporter service typing depositions at home for a while. The biggest problem was that it seemed there were often 2 or 3 people talking at once and it was hard to tell one from the other. Things had to be verbatim to the letter, with absolutely every word spoken included in the report. I can see where it would be easier to do that in an office setting where you would be able to ask questions about things you were unsure of. The pay was excellent, but I found it really difficult to do it at home.
About MT at home

I am - or hopefully soon to be - was on eof those recruiters, and I coul dgive you a heads up on what they are thinking when they advertise, and what they really expect.

First, not all companies are making 14 cents or more a line with so much off shoring - BUT that doesn't mean they coud not give more. I have been asked to low-ball on many occasions. What a company needs to realize is that without MTs, there is no company. After soul searching, I will be leaving my inhouse job for an at-home MT position NOT WITH THEM. Now that I know what they do, I am hoping to cope, and work around it to make what I need without the stress. Cause the stress is making me physically ill, and I am too old and too professional and too qualifed to be treated the way they do. AND I wont be a part of their antics with the MTs. I mean how many times can a bank possibly make an error. MTs are smarter than that. Them leaving would only make my life more stressful in the office.

Yup. Only 2 at home still, 12 & 17 NM.
nm
As far as I know they only pay if you have AT&T. I'm full-time also and don't get anything fo
x
Yes, thank you. I didn't have the full name.

JLG does for full time.
They do not for part time though.
consider the MT already has a full-time job, though

Keystrokes Full
I've interviewed with them, went through the process, only to find they have no openings for what I'm looking for at the moment.  I type the big 4 and ER.  Think they had clinic available, but not interested......
Full timer here
I work as an Editor for them.  The platform couldn't be any simpler, honestly.  Good mixture on most of the accounts as far as ESL/other.   Growing like crazy!!  The bonuses are for real as well.  Very nice folks to work for and plenty plenty of work; in fact they are trying to get more MTs on board to be able to stop sending so much out.
Full time
Thanks for the info!
Is that full or part?
No message
Can you tell me what they consider to be full-time? TIA nm

I would rather not give the full name...sm
of the company with the line counting issues, but they are out of Florida and start with an M.  There have been several posts lately about them running out of work and a major change in management.  Hopefully, that is enough information for you.
Use full name of owner. nm

I do VR full time...
The best platform by far is Escription which is very productive.  I was nervous about VR too but even with 50% pay per line I am making a lot more money overall.  I do have some typing but the older the account is the better the VR is.  Some notes i barely have to edit now.  If I straight type I average around 200 lph (acute care) but on VR I do well over 500+.  Escription learns indefinitely, so the longer the account has been there the better it is.  I try to keep my lines per hour on VR at least above 250 which even on a brand new account has never been an issue, so I have made out.  The typing break is great and I absolutely love it.  If you have more specific questions, feel free to email me.  (I am just an MT and not management for a company or anything like that.)
For full-time
line count is 11,000 per pay period and for PT it is 5000. They're pretty reasonable on QA, not nearly as bad as other companies.
positions are all full
nm
full time
full time pay scale for IC 3000 lines 7.5 cpl, 6000 9 cpl anything above 6000 is 10 cpl.
I actually came full circle...
I'm back working with the same wonderful ladies who hired me back in 2002 when I first moved to Maine.  They are just a small local MTSO and they are absolutely the bees knees to work for...I couldn't be happier.  Well, I mean, unless I won powerball or something--then the grin would be really hard to smack off my face.
