After 90 days full time, you are eligible for health insurance, 401k, Aflac, sm
and life insurance. One year for PTO. Direct deposit right away.

I am happy at Keystrokes, and happy with the benefits. The insurance is a little high, but my husband has a union job and it would cost us more to have him carry all of us.

The HappyKeystrokes poster seems to give a lot of misinformation. I have as much work as I can handle, but I do not type 350 lph or whatever amount she/he claims. I average 200 lph, up a little some days, down a little other days, but that depends on the doctors dictating, my motivation for the day, etc. Spring is the worst as I have hayfever and headphones bother my ears right now.

My check is right, is on time and is direct deposited. My taxes withheld are correct and SS has been paid (unlike somewhere else I worked that messed up my SS and did take out for state taxes). My lead is supportive and I think the company cares about their employees. I am happy with Keystrokes and cringe when I see posts like Happy Keystroker writes, which make us all look like Stepford Wives. This is a job, just with a company that I like working for.

I wanted to paint a more realistic picture.

I have excellent health insurance through them and it is only $185 per month. sm

A lot of companies do not have PTO so I am glad that I have it, although I had to wait a year for it.  When I worked in another field, I had to wait a year, so I do not think it is that unusual.  I wish we had dental but I am glad that we have 401k, health and life.  Like with any company ... get it in writing and then you will not have two different stories.

HEALTH BENEFITS
ABOUT 340 PER MONTH, BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD. THEY ARE STABLE BENEFITS FOR SURE.
How soon can one get health benefits with them?
I am looking for a company that has dental coverage without the $1000 annual limit in payouts.
Does DSG have affordable health benefits? SM
Any idea on the cost of this?  Thanks, :-)
$15-18 is great, but what if ya' need health benefits?
Sometimes those premiums can be pricey in private practice.  Not what the OP asked, but just adding by 2 cents.
PA health insurance benefits
I can't speak for all employers. I was manager of the transcription department for a large cardiology practice. Our health insurance premium was totally paid for (employee only). The company paid half of the premium for family coverage. Yes, those were the good old days! Now, as an employee with a national, I am looking at $400 per month for individual health insurance coverage with my current company.
health benefits specifically

Looking for a company (as an employee, F/T) that offers affordable family plan health benefits for less than the $1022 per month I am paying now!

I absolutely love the company I work for, but their benefits are outrageous (small business) and me understanding their plight is not putting food on my table.  I have a special needs daughter, so I need actual insurance, NOT a discount plan.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

what company offers the best health benefits?

What company offers the best health benefits?

As far as:

waiting period before they start (I'm looking for 90 days or less),

how much they cost for yourself and dependents (I have myself +1 - spouse - can pay maybe $300/month out of paycheck at most),

PEC lookback period (preexisting condition - example - look back 3 months is better than 1 year),

pharmacy cost (I need a flat rate copay, not a percentage, with no yearly cap, and brand names and generics)

Anyone who has been happy or unhappy with their insurance through their work-at-home MT company, please share your experience and opinions. Thanks

Need health ins in 30 days ..what companies have that benefit?

Hi, I really need health insurance faster than 90 days.

Does anyone know the companies that offer it effective in 30 days?  I have seen a few advertised but can't find them.

any help would be appreciated ... thanks in advance

Are there any companies out there that offer benefits to PT employees, such as health insurance?
I know it's a rarity but I know hospitals do.
I may have a job near my home with full benefits. I'm so happy and excited. sm
I'm the one that had been having so many problems and heart ache with these companies I was trying.  I quit MQ about three weeks ago and I have been through one company and others that seemed to be not too good.  I may have a job for $25/hr with full benefits near my home.  I am just hoping and praying that this will be the job for me.  I have to drive a ways but at least I think I will get along with the supervisor.  She seems so nice.  I am so excited.  Hopefully it does not fall through:(
Webmedx - Benefits and Full-Time Status

I'm a bit surprised that I haven't seen any posts regarding the new requirements to be considered full time at Webmedx beginning in 2009 -- 40 hours per week rather than the previous 35 per week.

I guess it doesn't surprise me completely, but I'm not all that happy about it. An extra hour a day of work isn't high on my list of activities I want to add to my day. I already have a hard time fitting everything in.

Anyone else want to share their feelings about it?

Are there any companies who offer health benefits to part time employees?
Need insurance.
MDI-ers: Is Instant Text compatible with MDI's platform? Do they offer health benefits? nm

just one more question....do they have regular full-time employees with benefits or......sm
just ICs?  Thanks.
I just left Diskriter a month ago

and had some unused PTO.  Anybody know how long I'll have to wait to get this? I tried to e-mail payroll to ask, but it won't go through because it's not an internal e-mail.  Thanks for any information...

It is perfectly legal. You need to be FT to get benefits. You need 12000 lines to be full time. I
period so there is no issue. Why do some people here try to make everything ugly?

What the person did NOT say is that it is averaged by quarter. So if you do 12,000 lines one time, 15,000 the next and 10,000 the following, it will balance out. They also do not count it against you if your account is slow.
Every month it's the same. Grab all the work on the last days of the pp and
It's very annoying.
2 weekend days a month, no insurance
Statutory employee, not IC. I think their minimum for full-time (paid a better line rate if full-time) is 700 lines a day, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that. You pay long distance (most accounts). My accounts are heavy ESL.
benefits Diskriter
blue cross and blue shield, pretty reasonable - I think it's about 350 per month for family taken out 1/2 one check and 1/2 the other - I only have the dental insurance through diskriter. The recruiter would have a better idea of the benefit package though - - BCBS is typically very good coverage
Diskriter benefits
How do you like working at Diskriter.  I have just taken a job and left a local hospital.  I am worried about the benefits.
They were to start a benefits plan this month. Did that happen? nm
s
Seem to have great benefits, which start after a month of employment. sm

Pay is so-so, level III 8 cpl, level IV 8.5 cpl, level V (high ESL) 9 cpl.  Everyone seems very friendly and helpful.

Good luck!

I believe it's 90 days...I got my insurance benefits (sm)
after 90 days.
It took nearly a month after I passed the test before I started with Diskriter! SM

I was referred by a friend.  I spoke with the HR person, took the test, and was told I passed with flying colors.  I was told that a job offer was merely a formality and that I should go ahead and give two weeks notice at my other job which I did.  I then waited a week before I actually got an official job offer.  Then I was sent the paperwork.  It was unbelievable!  I had to have a physical exam by my physician and have him fill out their questionaire.  I had to find a drug testting facility on my own and do a drug test.  I had to have a TB test AND they wanted a chest x-ray as part of my physical exam.  Then there was the background check and reference check.  You would have thought I was going to work for the CIA and required high security clearance or something.  Then I was told there was a problem with my references.  They had asked me for two professional and two personal references which I gave them.  They called my personal references and asked them if I was a good Transcriptionist and a good employee.  Diskriter told me that none of my references were valid because no one had actually worked with me.  Then I had to clarify that they had called my personal references and if they would simply call the professional references, the would get the answers they were looking for!  It took them three more days to get it straight.

Finally, I was so fed up, I told them I refused to get a chest x-ray and I thought all of this was insane for a simple at-home job.  I was so upset because I had gone two weeks without earning any kind of paycheck while I waited for them to check how frequently I go to the bathroom!  I felt like a show dog jumping through every single hoop for a job that ended up being not worth it at all.

I feel for ya and all I can say is they weren't a bad company to work for, I just had an incompetent supervisor with very poor communicating skills.

Good luck!

DTSAmerica. Benefits start after 30 days too. BC/BS
I work split shift
I'm a new hospital employee through Diskriter and you are correct. Ins kicks in 1st month after h
You cant beat the benefits and that is why I chose hospital. You get PTO, holiday pay, downtime pay, and sick time. The insurance is one of the best out there.
you must have mistaken this for another company; benefits start in 30 days
This person obviously has no clue
You have to wait 90 days to quality for insurance and the other benefits. sm

There are 3 different plans for coverage -- basic, choice, and ultimate, I think -- and you choose which one is right for you. I do not have the paperwork handy, but it seems like good coverage at a reasonable price (single coverage, don't really remember about family), and you can also opt for dental and vision insurance.  You are right, though, the premium is deducted every 2 weeks.

Any companies out there that offer the hospital benefits besides Diskriter
I currently work in-house a hospital but they do not have at-work positions and I would like ot work at home so I wondered if there were other companies and/hospitals that hire at-home MTs with full benefits....besides Diskriter as I have not heard a lot of good news about them and it makes me nervous to apply.
If you had a choice..Diskriter, Medscribe, or Wedmedx, as far as benefits, pay etc..
Just trying to sort out some options. Thanks
Told minimum PT was 3500 lines a week; requires 2 weekend days a month nm
xx
Good & bad posts in the past. Must work 1 Sat. a month. Supposed to be gross line pay. Some days
s
That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
Does this guy's first name begin with a J?
If so, I know exactly what you are going through. Good luck!!!!!!!!!
don't know where to begin..

This all makes me so sad.  I first stumbled across this site about a month ago, saw the Word Help thread and thought this was such a fabulous place, transcriptionists helping other transcriptionists.  I've done this job for almost 29 years now, presently working part-time as casual staff at a local hospital and an IC for the most part from home.  I have to say I love, love, love my job as a medical Transcriptionist - making sense out of nonsense, deciphering difficult dictators, playing detective searching for words.  But since I have been coming here, I have just found this all so depressing.  So I will continue to love what I do, but I won't be back here.  To those who are fighting for our jobs and for respect we deserve, please continue, I wish you all the best.

Yes that was the question to begin with!
I was scheduled a time with the recruiter and the recruiter failed to follow through. That was the whole point of my post, why did the recruiter not call and was this they way they handled everything. I wasn't whining because I didn't hear back from them. That would have been fine not to hear from them, but I was responded to and asked to schedule a time to talk as they wanted to offer me a position.
And I would suggest we begin by having a SM
better education system. The school systems have gone downhill and other countries are ahead of us in math and science.
Does it begin with the letter
nm
I know. You begin to question everything (sm)
That to me is why using the personal normals is so important. When you have a similar procedure/ROS/PE/etc., right there in your report to compare as you transcribe, the dictation suddenly becomes more clear. That can be a real confidence booster. There are some very excellent MTs who have been gracious enough to share, so I say use them. :)
Who could begin to guess?
Spheris has production incentives but I couldn't even guess what rates a new employee might be offered. All I've heard is that it is lower now than it used to be.
Let the flaming begin....
I also have had nothing but a good experience with TT after almost 2 years. I have very, very rarely run out of work, and at most for an hour or so. The people in the office have been nothing but kind to me. I was not thrilled with VR, and stated that fact here. I also came back and stated that I was wrong, it just took some getting used to, and now I am back to my normal paycheck (it only took about 3 weeks or so). I realized at the time that you can keep trying to run from VR, but eventually it will catch up to you. I felt bad about what GP and others said they were experiencing with TT, but has not been my experience at all. I would still recommend them to anyone. The business has changed drastically, but for now I have a home, and I too will defend them. I am not saying others haven't had a different experience, just that mine has been pretty much all good.
To begin with, we can get the word out, beyond
After all, THEY are a major player in all the greed that has taken over medical transcription. The American public has quite a few bones to pick with healthcare, already. Might as well add our situation to the fracas, as well.
Bad doesn't even begin to describe it!
I'm all for giving anybody the benefit of the doubt, but if this is actually OSi doing this, they're stooping to the pits of desperation and I don't know who they think would ever trust them after such cheap tactics.
Does anyone know if we can begin 401K any time?

Or is it one of those things that have to be done in January and if you miss it, you wait another year...

Thanks.  Have a call in and am waiting for their return phone call.

does this company begin with the letter O?
curious if it does. Sounds almost similar to an experience last year although never made it past the phone calls but made it seem like oh yeah, we have room to hire, and then never heard anything. She said she was working on finding me an account.  yeah right.
I work for a company that does not begin with F
that is losing an account in about a month, and I have already started training on my secondary. It is a great company and I wouldn't dream of leaving it. It is highly regarded by everyone. Contact your supervisor. I would look at the boards here for info on your company and if most is good stick with it. If not, look elsewhere. Good luck.
Do their last names begin with P and M. I think they should throw them out before everyone quits.
:
The letter about the pay cut in ASR was mailed out and is to begin October 1. No question about it.
Didnt you get the letter.
