I read the article, it states exactly what the company always tells us...

that they offshore a small percentage of their work, and that it will never take the place of their domestic MLS. I love working at Transcend.

For someone that doesn't work at Transcend, you sure have gone to a lot of trouble to find the article and continue posting about it. Any other issues?

I just read the article. Man, those answers sure don't
Like how little MT's are paid. Like how much they expect them to know, how fast the work is expected to be turned around, and how most MTs don't even have health insurance, and have to work 2-3 jobs just to live. They also didnt mention how much editing is involved with SR and offshore work. And I think their US-vs-India ratio is bogus as well. Most MTSOs these days have more work don in India than in the US.
Read Goldbird's post...clearly states the facts.

Just read article about health crisis sm
for the MT workers in India. Study says workers are getting stressed working long hours and developing health issues. Check out the amount of lines they put out and with 99% accuracy compared to AAMT's accuracy of 98% Oh please!
Thank you. That is a great, factual article. I hope the others read it.

Should Dennis Paulik and Kathy Clemmons read the article?
Should they know we will not be silent? Our voices need to be heard.
Here: Read this: http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=179115,00.html
That should clear up your misconceptions from the IRS standpoint. The IC has privileges that the employer does NOT and there is a fine line that needs adherence. Maybe you feel you have no rights, but the IRS says that is just simply not the case!
When a company tells you you'll tripple your line count

Right, it is all in how your company policy states. I have worked
for a hospital where OT was classified as anything over 8 hours a day, another where it was over 40 a week, and another where it was over 80 in a pay period.
I though unions not legal in some states (right-to-work states) nm

That website tells me a lot - NOT

Do you always believe what your employer tells you?
I worked for a local company and transcribed university hospital and VA reports.  The company was pretty busy - 100 MTs across the country and the owner whined all the time about how he couldn't make ends meet and couldn't pay MTs more - blah, blah, blah - but I certainly never got any tissues out during these meetings.  We found out from the bookkeeper later that the company charged and got18 cents per line and that was 6 years ago.  Then he increased his charge to a large account the next contract bid and lost it and and didn't have the guts to lay off by senority and just let everyone keep working with promises they were seeking new accounts that didn't happen very quickly at all while we were all out of work and scrapping to find what we could.  It is called GREED.
Agree, unless OP tells them, they will never know.

In my opinion, take what MQ tells you with
x
it tells you your tier rate
on the sheet that comes with thepacket. If you are a Tier 2 like me when I wanna be a Tier 3 I have to test. That's for everyone. I don't know about new hires as SE's are changing to new hire with 8 or 16 or 24 hour work week. Maybe an SE can answer this who has the packet, I am full time.
that tells me some people don't know how to use their brain.

Control I tells me I have no right to access (sm)
Isn't it that way for all?  I'm new at this.
This just tells me that this service owner does not know how
to handle her money. This 30-day thing or 45-day thing is because they do not have the money in the bank to pay. Every GOOD service owner should have at least two entire pay periods in the bank for payroll. They should not wait until they are paid by their customers. Bad bad business. I would never work for a company that withheld pay ever again. Yes, I have BTDT! I think we all have learned the hard way.
if noone tells her? Will she keep repeating her sorry work
ed
Oh yeah...I can beat that one...How about the IT guy who tells who...
that the company has massively overhired on the account that you were just hired for. Hmm...could that be the reason why I have no money to buy my kids any Christmas gifts this year???!!! 9 months to go and I will never go near this transcription bullcrap ever again!!! This is my last Christmas ever again that I can't buy my kids any Christmas gifts!!!
This is what I am leaning toward. This is what my heart tells me.
I guess it is my brain that is all confused. Your help here is truly appreciated, it echos that small voice we are supposed to listen to in hard times....
Well, that tells us nothing, Care to elaborate w/o yelling? SM
I worked on it for radiology and it was wonderful.

how childish.

your name "just me" tells me how minute you feel,
WHO in the world would call themselves, Just Me. Like I am a nobody; a brainless unimportant to be hear is a Just me.
Usually, the less you read about a company on
that it's a good company. Most people will complain sooner than they'll praise something. In in terms of how often you do or don't see a company talked about on MT Stars, no news is usually good news.
Where did you read that? A company e-mail?
k
Read through the archives, horrible company.
The dictators are some of the worst ESLs, sound quality is horrific, the reports are so bad I had to basically retype them, flaky QA, management problems, etc.
All Company Board Posters Read

I have removed a thread about Acusis because it was practically 100% absorbed into nothing but hateful rumor and personal attacks of one individual at the company and too much identifying information.

Do not identify people by initials, names or other descriptive information about individuals.  Stick to topics about companies, issues, etc., but we will not be tolerating personal attacks on anyone.

While I generally try to use a temporary ban to get your attention for such posting violations, banning for this type of attack will be slower to lift.

Please be responsible with posting in leaving out information about others individuals, internal/privileged information, etc.

Thanks. I will call...Sorry, that should read are they the company that "do" ERs, not does! (

Please - all posters on Company board read.

I just wanted to clarify something with everyone in hopes to ensure we all are on the same page.

I have deleted some posts that were correcting grammar/spelling, etc., as those are not allowed.  I usually will place a temporary ban on a poster in order to stop them and tell them in my action reason why I deleted/banned their post/privileges and ask that if they will abide I will remove the ban.  For 99% of posters, this works well as they were not aware that it was a problem or that we are serious about it, at least.  However, there are posters on occasion who resort to calling me names and who rant over the morality of some posts left on the board and try to enforce THEIR views or to allow them to pick/choose which posts should remain or even to excuse them from their unwillingness to abide by guidelines.  Not happening!

We do not moderate any of the boards for niceness, for ethics, for morals, for specific opinions.  We DO moderate for name-calling (troll, liar, or foul names), for posting privileged or private information, for spelling/grammar policing, etc.  All opinions are welcome here.  Stick to posting about topics, etc.

I just wanted you to know that MTStars does protect YOUR right to express your opinions here - regardless of what perspective it comes from - as long as posting guidelines are upheld.  This means that you may well find posts that are offensive to you - just skip them, leave them alone.  Stick to discussing or even debating topics but leave the personal attacks alone.

Thank goodness that we do not moderate by any one person's opinion of what is nice or not, right or not, appropriate or not, moral or not!

never mind. Wrong company. I should read better before responding. Sorry. nm,
xx
I do not know anything about the company, but did read posts that they paid late. sm

The pay was decent, though, at 10 cpl, but it was 3rd shift every weekend, and I decided to pass just in case I ever decide to get a life.

Sounds like you had a bad experience -- sorry for that.  Hope wherever you are at now is better.

Worst company to work for. Read the archives and you'll
be hard pressed to find anything good about this company.
It's not being done here in the states!
..
Unfortunately some states do allow this! sm
Depending on the state in which you live and/or the state in which the company resides, mandatory OT is permissible. Isn't that infuriating? Also, laws state that if you do not follow their mandatory OT ruling, it could be legal grounds for dismissal by the company! Ah, our justice system in the US these days - isn't it just wonderful? NOOOOOOOOOOT!
OSI not hiring in certain states

Has anyone else ever had OSi contact them back to say they are not hiring MTs from their state?  Does this seem like discrimination?  Isn't that kind of like we aren't hiring Caucasians at this time?

OSI not hiring in certain states
I got the same message.   I live in California.
OSI not hiring in certain states
Well that makes no sense that they don't hire people in California. I doubt they have to be licensed in EVERY state. That would cost them a TON of money, but wait...
They DO outsource to India. What does that tell you? huh
3 states away? try to be realistic
nm
Is OSI still in business in the States?
xx
that's fine if the CP states that, but...
NONE of mine state little details like that. Bottom line, you're darned if you do, you're darned if you don't!!
exactly what my post states sm
I said you had to learn a new skill set if you wanted to ever make money on VR, and explained what that new skill set was (manual skills).  Any MT can do VR, but a MT who has no desire how to learn those new skills will never be proficient on it, and will keep coming here complaining about how little money they make.  And if your pay is too low to make any money now matter how much you learn, then that means it is time to switch companies, because either way it is nobodies fault but your own.  They are companies who pay decent livable wages.  You are pretty much responsible for what you allow people to pay you.  If you don't like it you go somewhere else.  If there is nobody offering the pay you want then you are most likely in the wrong career and should go back to school, and began in a field that has higher pay. That is the way it works in a capitalist-free market.
Do you think nationals have licenses in all 50 states? Not. nm

Take a look at the reply above... that states don't take this the wrong way but...
Com'on talk about a smack in the face. Proofing my reply? What is that?

Sounds like critisism.

No, I like the idea of uping my line count by 40%. Trying to use the Expander was good advice. I did not knock that at all. I think I said thanks for the advice on that. My reply was solely for the person who proofed what I wrote.

No critisism towards an expander : )
In most states, if you voluntarily quit
even if you know you are losing your job in X amount of days, you cannot collect unemployment. If the people at Heartland want to be able to collect unemployment, unfortunately, they need to stay.
they hire in all states; depending on what
state you are in, determines if you can be SE if that is what you are looking for.
I actually meant this generally, I do not think it's all that different in other states....
from what I've been reading and hearing from others. My husband and I have separate insurance each with our own employer and pay a fair rate of 100 a month or so and they are very good plans and not that HMO garbage. BUT we don't have kids. We have an excellent income and live on the east coast too but that would not make it *okay* for me if we had to pay those rates. So, right now I'm thinking of definitely nixing that whole having a family idea we've been discussing. I was hesitant anyway because I feel this world is just not a nice safe place anymore. So this may just seal the deal for me. What a country, huh? : (
The recent job posting states
discretionary match, which is why I was wondering if anyone got the info yet.

As far as the PTO, the handbook has a chart, as I recall the first increase is after the second year.
Their ad states cable or DSL, I think, but once in a pinch sm

I used dialup when my cable was out.  It was INCREDIBLY slow retrieving jobs and loading the demographic information, but it did work.   I don't know about WiFi -- guess you could call and ask them.   The people in the office are very friendly and helpful.

Good luck!

They do pay benefits if you live in certain states. SM
Last I heard it was CA, FL, and one other, not sure which.
She isn't complaining about not finding a job. If she states
do they even contact her if they don't have that specialty? I don't agree with any MT limiting to certain specialties because it makes it harder to find quality jobs, but I also don't know her circumstances so I'm not about to judge. Maybe she's close to retirement and doesn't care to struggle with learning new things. Who knows? Either way, for someone to try to talk her into doing something else and then be rude when she won't, that's not right either. At any rate, yes, just keep telling them NO, that's about all you can do. Annoying, yes, but no one can force you to do anything. As for the rude people, I find saying have a nice day or good luck finding what you need and hanging up works well.

For the record, the same happens to companies, too, in that they'll advertise for certain criteria but people will still call or apply without the criteria hoping to talk the company into giving them a chance anyway. I guess it's just human nature. lol
Transcend policy states that an (sm)
employee who discloses or discusses their salary can be dismissed.  Their line rates are comparable and you can ask for an increase, but like every other company there is a max.  If you're looking for a ton of work and to always stay busy, they're a great company.
Their pre-employment letter states 8 cpl, no
exceptions.  About 2 years ago I was offered 9.5 cpl, but didn't accept position.  When I reapplied they offered 8 cpl.  I've heard that some MTs negotiated for better rate.
