Keystrokes accounts have more than one platform

Posted By: KS MT on 2007-10-17
In Reply to: Keystrokers do you find it difficult to make lines? Almost - looking

Every account has a different platform (it depends on what the client wants to use). Some use ExText (which both of mine do), some Meditech, and some are on other platforms that use a C-phone.

Good luck with your job search!
It's not just the platform and accounts that slow you down.

I haven’t worked for WebMedX for a couple of years, but the numbers I had to work with then were as follows (DISCLAIMER:  Just as I was leaving, they were thinking about totally revamping their bonus system, so the numbers below are probably not currently accurate, but will give you some idea of what WMX thinks their MTs are capable of):

140 lines per hour average minimum.  New employees placed on 90 day probationary status to learn platform and account specifics.  Expected to reach 150 lines per hour average after 4 weeks.  Line defined as 65-character line, which includes all body characters and spaces inclusive of formatting characters such as bold, italics, underlines, caps and tabs.  Header and footer characters are not included in the line count.

Bonus paid as follows (in addition to your base pay per line):

Average lines/hr   Bonus per line

160 to 180  =        .0015

181 to 220  =        .0030

221 to 250  =        .0050

251 to 275  =        .0075

276 to 299  =        .0100

300+           =        .0150

This is for the average for the entire two week pay period, so if you have a really great day and hit 500 lines per hour, then have several really bad days at 100 lines per hour, they take the average over those two weeks.

HOWEVER, if you fall below 140 lines per hour average, they DEDUCT pay:

0 to 124     = - .005

125 to 139 = - .0025

WMX is definitely looking to make a profit, so my way of thinking is they feel confident in offering a bonus that will not affect their bottom line and, as far as they are concerned, not going to be achieved by the majority of the MTs working for them.  In fact, when I left, many MTs were complaining that they were no longer getting the same bonuses as they had just a few months prior and they were MTs who had worked for WMX for several years and were already very familiar with the platform and accounts.

As far as getting back up to speed, there are several factors that prevent smooth transition.  First, you are on 100% QA review for the first couple of weeks, at least, and depending on the Editors you get, you may have to completely rethink what you have learned before.  Then, there is the dreaded time clock.  It is totally automatic.    From the minute you log on to get your first report, you are on the clock.  If you stop to look up a drug or find a new surgical instrument, your line count is affected.   They tell you to log out for everything when you are not actually typing.  That means even 2 minutes to stretch or go get a drink from the kitchen.  Next, they seemed to have a lot of platform slowness.  There were times when you could sit for a minute or more just to switch from the demographics page to the actual transcription page, or when trying to release the report.  Sometimes, the platform would just freeze altogether, and you had to reboot.  And they do periodically run out of work, depending on the accounts you have.  So, if you want to keep your line count up, you have to keep logging off, which makes an 8 hour shift turn into a 10 to 12 hour day.  Some people with families just don’t have the time for that.  Not to mention, if they are in overtime, if you already have to put in a 10 hour day to get an 8 hour shift in, overtime will probably have to be on your days off.  Also, most of their accounts are now going to ASR/Speech Recognition, and that system has many bugs left to be worked out that has caused many MTs to complain that they are not making as much money as they were before.

I am sure there are WebMedX MTs just itching to correct me and let you know how great WMX is.  The above are my personal observations/opinions while working for them, just to give you another perspective.

Good luck.

Pay? Support? Platform? Accounts?
I have not seen any real specifics, but I understand about wanting to inform prospective employees and share your dislikes.  I am being asked to submit a schedule at the interview when I don't know a tootin' thing about what I'd be getting into.
Keystrokes platform?
Can those that work at Keystrokes tell me about the platform? Easy to learn? Do you like it and why? TIA.
Of course the bottom line is that with the new platform anyone anywhere can get into all accounts in
all offices so it really doesnt matter where you are. I think MQ is probably just going to dump everyone into accounts that are behind and totally eliminate overtime or any kind of bonuses, etc. That is already in place in the NE so just a matter of time.
I'd like to know the bad platform and which accounts run out of work. I'm supposed to have bac
accounts to work on...Please email me.. I cant afford to work on the Mojave Desert LOL

Keystrokes PT accounts sm
Hi! We typically assign our PT accounts by location. Our smallest location has about 3 dictators up to our largest location which has about 8 dictators. Discharge summaries are anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes in length and initial evaluations are up to 10 to 11 minutes in length (dictation time). Some of our transcriptionists type on two locations as well, it just depends on the amount of work you are looking for. Ortho experience is also a plus as we can cross-train you on our ortho accounts if that is of interest to you. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Keystrokes using Scribe platform

Keystrokes oncology accounts

Has anyone started on the 2 new oncology accounts for Keystrokes?  If so, how are they?  Do you like the platform?  Are you able to get good lines?

TIA

Keystrokes has at least a couple of accounts
that use Chartscript. I worked on it for quite a while and loved it. However, I'm not entirely sure if we're hiring at this moment. It wouldn't hurt to ask, though!
Keystrokes has a lot of old MQ accounts and a lot of 500+ bed hospitals. sm
Not sure if this is the one you are thinking of, but it is very heavy ESL, but only about 75% if even that. I do have to say that once you are used to the Hispanic accent, it's a great account, but it does take time to get used to it.

I know they have a few new accounts starting too, but I don't know much about them as I am not looking to move accounts and have more than enough work now!
Question about Keystrokes scribe platform

Is it transcription friendly and productive i.e. ease of getting lines, etc.

Thanks

Quick question about Keystrokes platform
I have just accepted a full-time position with Keystrokes for an ER account.  I was very pleasantly surprised with the pay rate and schedule that they offered me.  I see that they use Transnet for their software.  Is this an easy, stable platform to use?  Are you able to look up old reports for references. Do you have to spend a ton of time on patient demographics?  Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Keystrokes uses mroe than one type of platform
Some accounts require a C-phone, some don't. It all depends on the account.
Does JLG have nice accounts to work on and is their platform user friendly.
:
Current information on WordZXpressed, how they are to work for, accounts, platform etc.. anyone??

Thanks for any input you may have.

Pay always on time, platform is easy, they've always been nice to me, do have several accounts to
avoid running out of work.  I do MT and QA.
For Radiology, try Keystrokes. I know they are hiring on one of my accounts. sm
The hospital just hired KS to do their whole department. I think they will be doing their Med/Surg stuff too.
Vista will not work with Keystrokes accounts
They say right in their ads what operating systems they are compatible with, and they are not compatible with Vista yet. I asked this when I was first hired 6 months ago because I was going to put Vista on my work computer before I started, and they clearly stated that Vista will not work with any of their accounts yet, so I stuck to XP. You were not fired. Your system simply will not work on their accounts. All that you need to do is get a copy of XP somewhere and install that over Vista and you will be all set.
Keystrokes does not, although some accounts have shifts required
I don't know about all the accounts, but my understanding is that no one punches a clock, although some people are more held to shifts than others due to the client needs/requirements.
The best place for radiology is by far Keystrokes. There have a lot of rad accounts and sm
I know of a few more that are starting this week and the next few weeks. This would be a good time to check with them. I have worked pretty much everywhere before KS. I have been with them for 2 years now and have steady work, good pay and love my account! My backup accounts are good too but I never have time to work on them.
Keystrokes does not use Emdat for any accounts. I just verified this. nm

Information on Keystrokes Radiology Accounts

I would like to hear from anyone who WORKS at Keystrokes doing their radiology accounts and how it is going for them; i.e. pay, enough work, do you get paid per line/per report.  Thanks so much!

Doesn't Keystrokes have strictly OP accounts?
I thought they posted not too very long ago for a position that was strictly ops. I don't work there so I don't know first-hand, just sorta recall seeing it on the job seeker's board.

Good luck with that search :-)

Just curious. What program does Keystrokes use on the ortho accounts?
:-)
Easy platform, assigned accounts, always plenty of work. Great OM and boss. nm

Keystrokes accounts are stable. The company treats every customer
like their only. No accounts have been lost. I have been there for 3-1/2 years. Same accounts plus double since I started.
Is all Keystrokes work done on Lanier or Cphone systems? Do they have any 'net accounts? Thx. nm

Keystrokes-disorganized accounts, broken promises, moody owner

Keystrokes accounts all count the expanders as characters printed with spaces, not the abbreviation.
I have checked it, but we use Shorthand. What are you using?
Strictly IC, good company, hard accounts, good platform.
Good pay, always on time, no direct deposit though.
Maybe it was just directed to the people on specific accounts or a specific software platform. nm
nm
Keystrokes has great ortho accounts and a wonderful manager over the ortho work. sm
I have worked with them for 4 years and will never leave unless something drastically changes. I do not post here normally as it seems that there are so many negative people, but this is one I felt I could answer without being attacked.
Keystrokes has the best radiology accounts IMO. I have plenty of work and radiology only. nm
I make a good living and rarely run out of work. When I do, it is for a few minutes at a time and usually because the rads have not started early enough. No other complaints!
For radiology, Keystrokes is the way to go. They seem to have the most radiology accounts. sm
I have been very, very busy since starting with them 19 months ago. No complaints at all other than one or two of the radiologists who speak at the speed of light and expect us to be able to transcribe what sounds to be a mouse on a treadmill!
RISS is not a platform. RIS stands for Radiology Information System. The platform sm
would be EXText.
MDI-MD platform is fast, not full of problems like Transcend platform or MDI-FL

On Transcend platform you have to click, click, click all day and still get errors, change screens constantly -  its a nightmare to work in.

Are they losing accounts. Do most of their accounts stay for long period of time. I have
heard pros and cons about the quality of their work.  I guess it is much cheaper than other companies can offer.
Yes, SPi does use this platform....it's a great platform, but not worth working for SPi. nm
