Correction - TH has 5 PTO days 1st year/10 days 2nd yr
x
90 days is correct. 3 days off 1st year, 10 during 2nd.
nm
It's 11 days per year for everyone
nm
FYI, 11 days PTO is just the 1st year
It goes up with your years of service.
365 days a year
We work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and of course 365 days an annum.
PTO = 5 days PTO after 1 year SM
More after 3 years or 5 years, etc. Insurance -- They are changing companies and I don't know much more about insurance. They tell us soon they will have a new carrier that is more affordable. Vista is not compatible with the oncology or ortho accounts -- Windows XP only.
ins after 1 year??? misinformed! 90 days
//
Any bonuses, days off first year?
Seems like a long time with NO days off for PTO or holidays, sick time, etc. Any life insurance or disability? THANKS SO MUCH!
3 days true only for 1st year; then you go to 10. NM
nm
3 days of PTO 1st year NOT 1 week!
With the paid holidays. Absolutely not 1 week until you are there OVER a year, then 3.077 hours per pay period.
Must work one year and then 5 days off - no holidays
are paid days off. If you chose to take the day off you don't get paid, if you work the holiday usually lines and a half for that day.
They don't match 401K; 3 days PTO 1st year; 10 after that until...sm
5th year (I think, not sure) and then 15 days. NO THEY DO NOT HAVE A STEADY WORKLOAD. They are up to something/contracting work cheaply. We were all on OT last week and now have no work during, as has been said in other posts, peak flu and RSV season. It ain't all the effect of the economy. You can't trust them at all.

I am unsure how the health insurance stacks up, but vision and dental are cheap.
Still not great PTO for first year. I get 12 days at current company. NM
NM
always slow this time of year...doctors take extra days off, et cetera.
it will pick back up again soon...
That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
100,000/year - no way. I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days - sm
AND I DO NOT CLEAR $100,000/YEAR.

MQ IS LOUSY

I only worked there for the first two years of my medical transcription career and then got out because of how cheep they are and because they never had any work.  I went an entire summer (four months) only making a total of $600.  That was when I decided that I was never going to put myself in that type of financial hardship again.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of companies out there that DO pay well, that DO have work and that DO know who you are.  Just keep looking around.  Don't settle for MQ or MDI.  Neither one of them are any good.  I should know, I worked for both.

Happy Elsewhere Now!

p.s.  My recommendation is to work for a couple of different companies.  Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.  This will help guarantee yourself an income and some sanity too!

CortMedical: Pay is lousy. nm
:)
And by the way, they are not lousy. They are a good
company. No company is perfect but this one certainly is not the bottom of the barrel.
They have a lousy reputation
I'm so sorry for those affected by this. I don't think I have ever seen a positive post about that company in the several years I have been coming to this board.
If you like getting docked pay for lousy dictators, go for it. nm
adf
Why would you limit yourself to two lousy companies? There are better. nm
x
Lousy companies pay QA by line.
Reputable, better companies pay QA by hour. If offered line pay for QA, just say NO and look elsewhere or do MT instead. You're much better off and it will be a help to your fellow QA people. We all have to stick together on this and say NO to line pay for QA. I think confusion here is the words editing versus QA. Many places now call VR MTs editors. Not the same thing as QA. For companies that still call QA people editors, they need to change that title because QA people are SO not merely editors. ;)
Your lousy attitude is the joke!
.
Lousy excuse for not paying...
To me that equates to nonpayment for services rendered.
6 cpl is a LOUSY WAGE, no matter what
Anyone who works for such an insulting amount of money is just perpetuating the problem. What happens if your employer loses your cushy account, you get switched to something tougher, and you have to actually start typing full lines (few to no macros), researching information, and having to actually EARN that 6 cpl? That's when you have to hope and pray that hubby gets a raise.
Pay is lousy and you have to go in-office to train for way too long!
This was a while back so not sure if they have become more with it by now.  Good luck!
Lousy tech support. rude QA
nm
lousy mgmt/response, unprofessional.

II feel for you. I've had my share of lousy
dictators.  A flat rate sure would help, but  I still don't want to do dictators like that all day long.
Is lousy, 4-5.5 cpl. I make 7 cpl at the company I work for now.
FN's platform really slows you down for editing as well.
I sure agree with you about the lousy communication. It seemed to be a company wide
nm
I have worked there for a few years now. Not a lousy company but a very good one. sm
Perhaps you did not meet their standards or perhaps they did not meet yours, but there is no reason for you to be on here bashing those of us that love working for KS. If you have specifics, please share. I will:

Good pay, on time every time.

Good account with plenty of work.

Good benefits.

Managers that are human and know that the employees are too.

Owners who care about the company and employees. They are involved but less and less with employees as they grow. Instead, they have hired managers that are great so that they can concentrate on sales and customers.

Growing company with no lost accounts, which is more than most can say.

Opportunity for advancement.

IT helpful and caring, especially since the major change in that area a few months ago.

I love my job and I'm not in Illinois either; I'm in Florida.
bad insurance, expensive & lousy line count
When Transform (in Wyo) started they used MDintouch which was great but with Vscript I spent more time waiting for new reports to open (because it would have to open Word EVERY SINGLE TIME instead of Word just staying open, and for them to finish sending. long reports were OK & you could make SOME lines/$$ but after 6 years I made less & less AND LESS until I quit because I would OWE on payday - yes, I was paying over $900 for really lousy insurance for hubby & I. I'm no slouch - being doing it for about 25 yr when I quit & typed about 110 wpm. So take no time to pound out a report but tooooo much time wasted waiting on things to grind up & download. HAS to be better offers...
You'd play lousy poker - obvious bluffer.

Don't have to have the last word to have the last laugh, and I'm having a good one.

Such an easy mark. . . such a short fuse.  WOO!  I am laughing out loud.

For a lousy 3cpl, I wouldn't even bother to read
Gawwwwd!
You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments
They use DocQScribe software, like MQ, that a lot of us say eats your lines and gives a lousy line

my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm

Let's see...lousy sound quality, dictators with no skill, unavailable QA, running out of work.nm

Would that be 5 business days or 5 regular days?
So when are we going to be paid this time around since you're so knowledgable?

Sorry, but for some of us a day or 2 actually makes a difference.
Most want 20 hours over 5 days, but it could be more, or it could be spread over 4 days. nm

It is true. Any job has its good days and bad days.
Perhaps you'd like to just keep your old job and try this one out. Just because a poster here is crabbing about it, or even if as in the past there have been negative posts, odds are that there are very happy people who don't even post or know that this board exists. As Alice says. Everything is relative. The fact that this company is hiring and pays may be a place which is a blessing. As opposed to digging ditches on day labor for example. Or somebody might prefer digging ditches. This is just an example. Sometimes we who are employable, even though we don't make as much as we used to in this business, or as much as we would like to, we still if working at home do not pay for gas to go to work, career clothes, deal with office politics, have to look at a boss who writes us up if we are a minute late, etcetera. I don't make half as much as I used to, but I don't send my 3 children to day care which by the way saves us money. SO I remind my husband I am worth that in addition to my salary if I had a job outside. No job is perfect. I am not even sure if Focus is any good or not, I have not worked there. But if one poster says there are good days and bad, I say that is the most honest answer you are going to get anywhere, and if you need a job badly, how is it to hurt trying it out, until you know for sure for yourself? THanks for listening. But sometimes this board gets to be a bit much with the agendas of people railing on other people like the OP here who just wanted all opinions instead of just one side. Balance is always great. And, if things seem lop-sided, then it is a good thing to seek out both sides. IMHO.
I think they would. Those are good days for 10-hour days. sm
I have a set schedule but it is Tues-Sat and it works well for me. It wouldn't hurt to ask!
Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)
