No wonder you don't have a man! You're so bitter!
.
I am not bitter, at all - I work for them and several others
that I dealt with. Little or no communication after training, always changing the rules, changing the hours, and what I believe they do is hire more people than they need for an account and then weed people out - I was hired for a specific account, specific hours and all of a sudden, additional hours were added, additional days, and there was a certain person, who although we were supposed to do all worktypes on this account, would do a TON of work, but just all the easy stuff. Left all the more difficult work for the rest of us. She looked like a shining star because she did a million reports, but they were all easy, never anything that required a bit of thought and experience. So, maybe it depends on the account, maybe if I did it again I would work for them as an IC, but never as an employee. Too many inconsistencies. Then, to top it off, pay dates got switched around, yet again. Maybe it's growing pains, I don't know ... but I can't wait around for them to get it together. It was a learning experience, and I've moved on, but I would just be careful, and make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing before committing, or you won't have a leg to stand on when the discrepancies arise. I am not a bitter employee ... I quit on my own because I could not stand the inconsistencies. I now work for a company where the rules and expectations were all outlined in writing, signed by both parties and I know what is expected of me, and me of my employer. In this business, there is much turmoil now ... take care of yourself, first and foremost, so you don't get taken advantage of.
You can add me to the bitter list, for sure! nm

Who is the disgruntled and bitter one here??
I'm honestly not trying to ruffle feathers, just trying to understand where all of the bitterness and pinned up anger comes from on this particular board. I'm a member of some very diverse forums where the topics range from taming naturally curly hair to finding the best vasectomy reversal surgeon. MT Stars is supposed to be a place where professionals can come, share resources, and build one another up. All some people ever seem to come here for is to tear others down. It's really sad to see such hateful, ugly remarks constantly being made at MTs just for asking a question. If you don't have anything positive or beneficial to bring to the board, why post at all? What do you gain by posting insults hidden by an alias??

Is it the isolation of working at home that causes so many otherwise intelligent people to lose the ability to interact in a civil manner? If I ever become as angry as some of the people I've seen here, I'd be making a career change.

Stepping off soapbox now and getting back to work.
What is up with all the angry, bitter MTs?????
Do you think we do this job as a hobby? Do you expect us to change our budget without any notice without major difficulty because work distribution isn't a high priorty to MTSOs?
not bitter just trying to tell the truth. sm
we have a whole entitlement society and you want to change the profession to fit your personal preferences.

I don't agree with the way MTSOs treat us regarding pay anymore. But the job is a 24/7 day a week job. Not that you have to work 24/7 but that is when the work is there. If the work isnt' there are your particular shift, then you should be willing to work when the work is there or accept that you won't get a paycheck, OR go back into an in-house setting.

I will have a job long after all the ones who got into this job for quick money, working at home thinking they could have it all will.
And you are very bitter. I hope you

aren't like that in the real world.

I'm not naive, I'm just loyal to a company that I work for, and may I suggest that you learn the meaning of loyalty.

The truth is VR is here to stay whether you like it or not.

I will not defend my reason for being with TT except to say I like working for TT, I like doing VR, and I plan to stay. If you work for TT and you're that unhappy, find another job. I'm sure there's a company out there that like people with negative attitudes and would hire you in a flash. If you don't work for TT and never have, then you have no right to post such negativity about the company.

There's no talking to a brick wall.

You don't owe these bitter MTs an explaination! Too many of us on here...sm
that haven't let this job get to us yet, that put family and God before any job understand where you are coming from and back you 110%. There isn't a topic in the world you could post on this board without a flame war. They are miserable and I think they like being that way. I don't get it. Maybe so people will leave their miserable butts alone so they care work their weekends!
Is that why you are such a BITTER person?
nm
You sound bitter. I just got their new rates

starting in November and they are very reasonable.  I do not know what you feel is high, but the mid range plan is $45+ a payperiod for individual, the low end plan is about 25, and the high end is 71.  The high end plan is about average for all the companies I have seen.

If something went wrong for you at the company, act like an adult and call management and discuss it.  I am not management, in fact, I am very new to the company, but your behavior is very childish.   If you just did not like the company, just move on.  If you have some very real facts about why they are so bad, then post them, but leave the venom out of your post.

Because of postings on a bitter board? Why would you
quit a job or question your judgement based on postings on an anonymous board? If you like the job, stay. If you don't, look elsewhere.
for someone so happy you sound bitter yourself
just an observation
I'm not bitter at all. And I love my company and my
job. Just made an objective commentary on how all the cheerleading for this company can strike some as cautionary. And your overreaction still confirms to me that something is fishy with these posts... That does not equate to bitterness, but rather, wisdom...And I never said I believe negative posters but not positives - you're reading a lot more into my simple statement.
Gosh you are a bitter person. ...sm
You sound so bitter. You are confusing venting with looking for pity. Sometimes people post on here simply to hear other people's stories who are in the same boat. You know sometimes people just need to vent a little. It doesn't mean they want your pity.
Nasty, angry, and bitter
About a year ago, none of us were. We knew there were changes and trying to go along with them, but as SM so perfectly put it, they have made it very difficult. I could not have said it any better SM, cheers to you.

If you think this company is something you would like, then more power to you, just remember they are about their profits and they do not gave a damn about us.
All you TT people are so anger and bitter! sm
She said she just found out she was pregnant so I highly doubt she is going to pop out a kid tomorrow!  Explain to me how you are paying for someone to have a baby - that doesn't make sense to me?  I am sure most of you have been pregnant at one point in time and needed maternity leave then.  I don't understand why you are all taking out your bitterness on your fellow colleague.
you sound very bitter...that is my interpretation and I am allowerd to have it...
why are you so upset somebody else gets to retire at half apparently at age 55?

this is my interpretation of what you wrote, and again, you sound bitter.

if these people are successful, which I highly doubt, but if they are, that could benefit all of us.
You probably need to get a life... Some people are sooooo bitter.
I am obviously good enough to keep busy with work.
haha, you are the one who sounds angry and bitter...
Don't worry about me or what you think I should do or need to do. I still have every right to express my opinion on this board, and you again are being rude and typical of 'your' profession.

Again, I believe medical care should not be a business. That sounds ludicrous to me. People without insurance cannot have access to health care...and people like you do not care.

We get it already, now perhaps you can go bother someone else. You are really starting to get repetitive and rude.
nasty/angry/bitter people

they're just voicing their opinion, like you just did.  Does that make you nasty, anger, bitter too?  I have never gotten a Christmas bonus since I have been a medical transcriptionist/editor, so I don't miss it, but I can certainly understand those who have gotten it in the past being upset about not getting it now.

Thank you!!! Obviously an bitter MTSO because they offered a ridiculous cpl and got shot down.
Shame on you!!
How 'bout something to offset that bitter pill you swallowed?
?
This board is full of nasty , angry, bitter people. Why? sm
With this economic crisis that the entire world is under, we still have jobs that are fairly secure. We have jobs that pay more than minimum wage. We have benefits, unless IC status. We have good work environments, do not have the risk of losing an arm, leg or life in a piece of machinary or being blown up in a mine.

Yes, there are companies that do not pay. Yes, there are companies that do not pay more than 6 cpl, but we have a CHOICE on who to work for. Don't work for them. There are plenty of good companies that treat their employees well.

Christmas bonus? My husband was laid off last week from a job he has had for 27 years. That was his bonus.

Unemployment is at record highs, prices are at record highs and it does not seem to have an end in sight for many years.

Perhaps a depression would show Americans that nothing is free and people would stop standing with their hands out all the time.

As a society, we have come to expect everything to be handed to us. As a transcription professional, it is disheartening to see all the angry, bitter, hateful posts here all the time.

Transcription companies face the same rising costs as every other company out there and I am sure they feel the crunch too, but they are not telling this every second like other industries.

I am not an MTSO, not a manager, not a troll. I am just an MT who is grateful for her job and skills that will allow her family to survive this crisis without scars.
oops!! I meant "a" bitter not "an" wouldnt want the MTSO to NOT hire me LOL

Don't worry. Next week, the bitter people will move on to attacking another company. It is just
you watch this board, you will see a pattern. One a week. Have to shred the reputations of good companies to bits just to feel good about being unhappy in general. I wonder sometimes if these people job hop constantly, even work at all, or work for the company they are bashing. Maybe it's just sick fun for those with no outside lives :)
I'm giving them a try (sm)
I was impressed that they contacted me within 10 minutes of my submitting my resume.
Not giving one's best
One person's best is not the same as another person's best.

In fact, one person's so-so may be higher or lower than another person's 110%. The problem here is when we get treated like we come from a cookie cutter or mold.

A person who has been doing this for 30 years can do a so-so job and may be doing it better than a person with 10 years doing their best. It all relates to experience.

Why would someone not give their best? Hmmm,go work for MQ for a year and see if you give your best. It would seem a person gets demoted for doing their best in that situation.
giving your best
I think those of us who have been doing this for years and years have for the most part taken pride in the jobs we do or we wouldn't have lasted in the business. But these days it's extremely demoralizing to do your best only to have your pay cut to the point that you wonder if it's even worth trying anymore. The respect should be mutual. The employer definitely has a right to expect our best, but we shouldn't have to feel like we've invested years in something only to be treated like we're pretty much worthless and certainly dispensable. To have your salary cut in half after years of working hard and perfecting your craft is beyond insulting. We're in a field where our employers can legally pay less than minimum wage and get away with it and some of them certainly don't mind taking advantage of that fact. And as long as there are enough people willing to take whatever they dish out, I don't see that changing.
try a second job before giving up first job.
nm
You are giving out the wrong
info.  The hourly wage job is for midnight to 8 AM, NOT for any other shifts. They need coverage for that shift only.  All other shifts are cpl plus incentive.
Not giving references
You folks need to contact the Department of Labor as well as an employment lawyer. You have a right to a reference. Do not let these people get away with this!
Yep. Which is exactly why I'm giving up on nationals.
nm
Why don't ya try giving the transcriptionists

a limited number of doctors to learn in the areas they were hired for?  NOOOO....gotta know 15 doctors.  Then you folks want us to fill in on an emergency in a field never tried before by the transcriptionist...the Transcriptionist tells you she's never done that but you say....ahhh...you won't have any trouble...please???  She says yes and tortures along trying to figure it out for pennies on the dollar.  Two days later she is still struggling along, has told you several times, but you say you're doing great...Two days later you send her an e-mail saying that if her work doesn't improve you'll have to dock her pay.   Stick it man.

Lets see....doctors specialize but we who make peanuts have to be able to transcribe ALL specialties or are punished.  Wake up.

How about giving me a break?
I am the MT who seemed to upset a lot of you with my post below about MDI and the lack of work for some. Unlike what many of you surmised, I also need a regular income, a daily line count that I can depend on and I work far more than 1-2 hours per day and always have. I am also an MT who has been kicked to the curb by enough MTSO's to make me want to quit this profession at times and work at just about anything else. What I was saying below is that MDI, at least for me, is trying to get me more work and guess what? I have more now! Yes, everyone, they are being helpful and NICE! When compared to others I have worked for, who have also been low in work at times, and who have told me and other MTs who ask for more work, to basically get over it and wait it out or go elsewhere, I think I prefer the treatment I have received with MDI far above the others. If a nice company doesn't cut it for you, then go to the many out there who don't give a rat's behind how they treat you. They are not hard to find. When the work is there, you will be worked to death and when it isn't, they could not care less. Heck, you can make good money these days working on a garbage truck, so if nice isn't important, what's stopping you?
giving notice

To anyone that has left Spheris, did you give two weeks notice?  If you did give two weeks notice, did they just tell you to quit then?  After almost 6 years, I'm finally getting out of there.

I'm very tempted to just quit and not give notice, however, I have about 3 days of PTO time also I don't want to lose.

Also is it normal for anyone in an employee situation to have to get someone to cover your hours if you want to take off?  I'm going to a bridal shower in another state and needed a day off and was told I had to find someone on my team to cover my hours otherwise I couldn't have off.  Also whenever I ask to have a day off I'm always asked Why?  Why is it their business?  So glad I'm getting out of there.

giving notice
in most states, if you give notice to a company, and they tell you to leave then, they are responsible for reimbursing lost time, etc - because you gave notice and expected to work and earn money. Check out your state and verify. this would go for any company requiring a notice period.
TT giving MT's no explanation on why all this

This is certainly a mystery to me.  Announcement of Jesse being gone was heartbreaking.  He was such a good tech guy, but these loss of working hours due to server problems we are having is not due to anything but Dictaphone, it appears.  The **check back every 10 minutes** is getting old.

It seems that chunks of work disappear when these problems occur, so don't know where the work goes when server goes down.  Hopefully, TT is not outsourcing to another service again, as we have been SO LOW on work for the past month or so.

I just wish the upper mgmt. would give us an explanation for all these server problems as of late so that we would not wonder about why this is happening.  Maybe some of you can explain to us.  Maybe I am just out of the loop.

Giving notice

If you are required to give a 30-day notice to your current employer and don't have a start date yet for the new job you were just offered, when would you actually give that notice?  Now that you intend to take another job or when you actually have a specific start date for that new job?  Thank you for your advice.

From above: they are giving you. I bet facilities are
x
I think they are just giving you the times
they need people. Just because you are IC does not mean that you can work whenever, only when they want you to or need the help. They can tell you that they only have work between 12 noon and midnight, so that would be when you would work for them. Just because you are IC you cannot tell them to let you work at 8 a.m. if they is not when they need the help. They do have a little leeway, they just cannot set a strict schedule.
There is no way punctuation is giving SM
you that low of a QA percentage.  No way.  There have to be other issues (typos, incorrect terminology).  Even on short reports a couple of commas do not give you a QA score in the 80s.
Not giving a patient's name
is a HIPAA violation. Report her to your supervisor.
I was giving you a compliment...
that even though you only type clinic and for 1 American doctor, you are valuable to them. But nevermind--I'll take it back if it will make you feel better. :)
LK - GIVING YOURSELF A RAISE?
Hey LK - I'm always looking for different strategies to increase my productivity. Would you care to share what techniques and strategies you used to give yourself that 13% bump in productivity? I could sure use some ideas once in awhile!

TIA :-)
What is the reasoning he is giving?
I did have one company tell me that I couldn't have any file sharing type of program on the computer I would be using and would need to uninstall all other platforms. I ended up not working for them as if they want to tell me what I can and cannot have on my work computer, then they need to provide the computer.
Giving orders?
It wasn't an order, just a suggestion from someone who has been through the no work situation before. Sorry, I was not replying to your post, just added it at the end of the line.
Would need permission from the OP before giving

I would not feel comfortable posting that information on the Board without the Original Poster’s permission, since it contains personal names and addresses.  TransTech is probably reading every one of these posts right now and you could be management for all I know.  LOL.  Suffice it to say that this is public information and can be researched if you know where the headquarters of TT is and how to access court filings in that county.

I am giving my opinion, which is what the OP asked for
nm
As a recruiter, I hate giving these as much as...
...most people hate doing them. It's actually kind of painful to listen to someone who just can't figure out the answers, or is wrong and wants to know if the answer was right.

For someone who tests well over the phone, it's a breeze and I enjoy them, but for those who don't, it's a difficult experience for everyone involved, and it still isn't necessarily a perfect indicator of whether they can do the job.

I still prefer transcription tests, where MTs have the time to settle in, proofread, and aren't put on the spot.

Recruiting isn't an exact science, unfortunately. Ah well.

Just my 0.02.
Without giving away my exact pay rate....sm
I can tell you it was above 8 cents a line.   I'm sure it also depends on how well you test, how much experience you have, and what account you will be on also.
This person is giving you bad info--
I used to work for TransHealth and they're not perfect but don't pay attention to what this person is saying. You get benefits almost immediately, I used ShortHand when I was there, and they were pretty flexible. Some of the accounts are not so good, but you get that anywhere.
