Quit MQ in June - still in shock with new job. Plenty of work, OT available. (sm)

I just can't tell you how fortunate I feel.  The bonus program is good and understandable, you don't have to be a math genius to figure it out.  I have 2  accounts, great supervisor, pleasant office staff.  For those of you still unhappy with your current jobs, keep the faith, there are good companies out there.  Good luck on your search.

So quit - there are plenty of jobs for good MTs. sm
If you think truly they suck, find somewhere else.
right now plenty of work, also plenty of ESLs.nm
nm
Plenty of BOTH on my end, I do traditional have plenty of work, always
nm
Yes they do send work overseas and do not hide this fact. There is plenty of work and they do pay
well. Overall, I like having work as I have been at places where you had to fight to keep busy so this works for me.
This is going to be a shock...
I know that is going to surprise most out there since most of the posts are negative about SoftScript, but I not only received a Christmas card from them last year, they also gave a little present for MT week, and they sent me an e-card for my birthday. A lot can change in a year, but they did do that last year.
in shock
Good grief, open up... So you made a mistake - fix it, drop it, forgive yourself, and get back to work. Sorry you're having a hard time, but who is better at listening a second time and adjusting than MTs? Good girl! Lucky you - you still have the job!
Blinks - In shock
I've been in the medical industry for quite some time (16+) and I never heard of a student being hired out to QA from school. If this is the case then holy marbles!

It's hard enough getting a good QA position at a decent pay now. I'm thinking of going to the local school and becoming an instructor instead so I can make an actual decent pay that I'm not embarrassed about. I love what I do but the pay sucks. The rubbing two pennies together doesn't work. lol.
Do you work evenings or nights? If so TT has plenty of work
It is not that TT has no work, it is that everybody wants banker's hours. What do you expect?
No agenda here. Still reeling from the shock

I don't know how long you've worked for Transcend.  I was hired in the last six months at 8 CPL, and I had a great account.  I loved my job.  I transcribed between 20,000-23,000 lines per pay period.  Everyone told me how happy they were with my work quality and with my production.

During the last month or so, my line count has begun a rapid downward spiral.  The pay period for me, because of my schedule, ended today, and I just managed to squeak through with 11,000 lines to keep my benefits.  I'm not editing yet.  I'm still transcribing.  If this is happening while I'm transcribing, what is my line count going to be when I do begin editing?  My account has suddenly been overstaffed, without warning, without any explanation whatsoever.  Like I said, I have a great account and used to make very good money.  I've questioned this and was offered additional accounts.  I'm still thinking about this, but my preliminary conclusion is that I wasn't hired to do other accounts.  I was hired to do this one.  I'm resisting the other accounts (so far) because I fear that ALL my work on my current account will disappear and be given to the new person.  I was there first, and I don't understand why I should have to make less money while learning a new account, while the newest person will able able to make the money I used to make.  Secondly, if I have to learn a new account, I may as well do it at a company that is fair, loyal to its employees and trustworthy, if such a company exists.  I'm beginning to think that a smaller company might be less hazardous to your life.  I'm still considering another account, but I'm quickly losing respect and trust for this company.

My income has more than been cut in half without any warning.  I'm no longer earning any incentives, and I've found myself just sitting at the computer like a zombie, clicking the "refresh" key to see if I can manage to snag a job that's been dictated within the last 10 seconds or so.  I know I can't go on like this because I can no longer pay my bills and that I have to make a decision very quickly.

I don't know how long you've been there.  If it's been for years, then maybe you won't have a problem.  Maybe the job security you feel is justified.  If you're fairly new, you can take my situation for what it's worth.  Just please don't think it can't happen to you.  I didn't think it could happen to me.

Re: Outrage and shock over offshoring.
I just wanted to bring this up from below. I am 100% compassionate for the HLers and their situation. But...I don't understand the MTs posting about how offshoring is NOT a fact of life, is not a common situation, etc. There you are 100% wrong. I currently work for a huge national, but am also an IC, and have been around the block. I was ignorant of the amount of offshoring myself until the last year or so, and was apalled to find how prevalent it is. I live in a lazy little town - small beans, so to speak. I applied for a job thru the yellow pages with 3 or 4 little local services. Every one of them used Indian MTs as well. They were tiny little MTSOs - offering me about 4 cpl to 5 cpl with my years of experience. Then my own doctors - every one of them uses offshore MT services - some in Saudi Arabia, some in Irelend, and a few in India - little tiny run of the mill private practice doctors in a little run of the mill town. All have their hand-held dictation equipment, and love the TAT and cost. I worked for Transcend for a while, during which time they proudly shouted America only, go USA, and then - low and behold - started an Indian project - talk about a TAT! In less than a few months, they scrapped the patriotism and went Indian. Now I have found a few small to medium sized MTSOs in my state, and they, too, all have Indian divisions and MTs. IT IS EVERYWHERE. It is way too late to close the barn door. We American MTs were asleep at the wheel, myself included, while this was all happening. But its here - its done already, and we have to figure out something to do. But for any single American MT to even remotely think that the silly doctor right down the road is still using American MTs is just plain ignorant. Its way past that. We all need to come to a reality check before we are all laid off forever. Not sure what to do, but sure want to try to convince you none-believers that the horse has long left the barn and galloped across the whole country. What can we do? I'm game for something, but haven't the knowledge to proceed from here.
My experience - shock and awe! You must read...
I worked for them for 5 years.  They started out great..paid well and you could choose your specialty.  Then, things changed.  Bad management.  Account leads who don't answer e-mails.  They don't let you choose what you want to do that you will be productive on - they stick you on accounts nobody else wants once they find out you can do them and then you're stuck.  Well, they ran out of work.  I had  my choice of a bad account nobody would do on a clinic account or take a 3 cpl pay cut and work contingent in order to get acute care and this was 2 weeks ago so I left.  Now they are hiring!!  That is just the icing on the cake.  They are unreputable and I wouldn't trust a thing they say at this point.  They promised me a bonus on one account and then found a reason to not honor it earlier this year after they let me do the account for 6 weeks (kept inquiring where is the bonus?) - they basically used me on a nasty account and didn't honor the bonus. They also offered recruitment bonuses when I hired in - I brought on 3 MTs...got a partial of 1 bonus and never saw the rest.  When I was hospitalized in 2003 they fired me...then later rehired me after I was back on my feet a few months later.  They just treat people like crap.  I put up with a lot of stuff for years I wish I hadn't.  I think they're terrible people to deal with honestly and would look elsewhere.  But that was just maybe me.  Some have an in because they are friends with the leads or owner - they get promoted, special treatment.  They become the leads and they cherrypick the accounts.  I could say so much more but somebody will inevitably say it is sour grapes.  Well, it probably might be after getting screwed so bad after sticking with them for so long and working for them back when it was dial up.  I have my suspicions that they are basically just pushing out the older MTs they paid more to work those dial up accounts that they hired years ago now that they have .wav accounts and know that MTs are a dime a dozen and they can get them for much less per line than they had to pay back in the day because nobody wanted to pay unlimited long distance to work for them.  Just be prepared to be treated like a number and lied to.  You will always be expected to go the extra mile and it will never be appreciated.  Not even a thank you.  Never once in all those years even an MT week gift of a pencil.  All I can say is good luck to you!
Plenty of work
nm
OSI has plenty of work to go around...
...but since hurricane katrina hit, things have been kind of slow. I think they have a big account in Louisiana that got hit pretty hard and it shut down. Since then they have had to move MTs from that account to other accounts. I've been running a little low on work too (just every now and then), but I like OSi so I'm willing to stick it out. I'm sure everything will get back up to speed soon.
Plenty of work...sm
I don't generally post on companies I worked for because in the long run it doesn't seem like opinions matter, for some it may suck and for others it is great.  I worked for them for a couple of years and had to leave due to needing insurance.  There was always plenty of work and if you are a hard worker, you'll make money, get paid on time, etc.  The accounts were incredibly stable and extremely easy compared to acute care.
P.S.. you have plenty of work?

Plenty of work at MDI

Hi Freebird,  I was just passing through and saw your note.

I have been with MDI-MD for a little over a year now.  The only slowdown I have ever experienced was around Christmas and New Year's.  Right now there is plenty of work on all of the hospitals that I cover.

I have been in this business for a long time, am a former MQer, and I just love this company.  The work is not for newbie's, but if you are an experienced acute care Transcriptionist you will have no problems.  The staff at MDI-MD are professional and gracious, the platform is the best I have ever worked with, the pay is great and always on time, and the flexibility is wonderful. I wish you luck!

I do all Ops and there is plenty work available for anyone who wants just
Ops and is good at them.
I have plenty of work.
Have you tried asking for another account?
Plenty of work

Good line rate with incentive pay and shift differential.  Good benefits.  Sick time, PTO, plenty of work.  I'm happy.  Normals are right in their platform, which is handy and helps production.

Anyone else care to chime in?

I have plenty of work
x
Plenty of work.
I have plenty of work at both places I work, just would like more money. :-)
there's plenty of work to go around....
TRS does manage a group in Guyana, but they make up a TINY portion of the total reports. NO jobs have been lost in the US to employees in other countries either. There is plenty of work available and the recruiter works constantly to find qualified MT's here in the US! Why is going offshore a bad thing if it doesn't affect the workload or TRS employees in the US??
Is there plenty of work. nm

Plenty of work
No, there is plenty of work. But it looks as though workflow is caught up and under good control.  There is no mandatory OT, it is just optional now.
Plenty of work here.
If my primary is out, I have plenty of secondary accounts. They are always looking for people who are willing to have multiple secondaries. It's been my experience that the more accounts you know how to do, the less you run out of work. That's why I don't mind learning new accounts or work types.
Which of these have plenty of work RIGHT NOW?
Email me if you prefer.
Plenty of work here
One huge account.  I make myself available for backup for anything and nope, I am not listing my company name
Oh well there is always plenty of work
/
SURE, THERE IS PLENTY OF WORK
On the accounts that are always backed up because they are extremely crappy accounts. You can have all of that you want, BUT, I promise you - it brings your lines per hour average WAY DOWN and not worth it. The account specifics are horrendous!!!!

As the earlier poster stated - No work at WebMedx because they OVERHIRED!!!!
I have had plenty of work...
and I love working for MDI.  Its a great company!
PLENTY OF WORK?

WOW!!!  I want to know which server you are working on because those of us that work on the Chattanooga and Virginia server are just starving for work!!!  Please tell us more!!!

By the way, it is DISKRITER....and how do you know how much work they have?

Plenty of work right now
I have personally never run out of work for more than a few minutes, but have only been with them for 4 months.
I have had plenty of work..........
nm
MQ seems to have plenty of work
but it means bouncing around EVERYWHERE. Average shift, for me is usually at least 9 or 10 different places. Have only expperienced no work on Holidays. Is everyones experience the same with being bounced around all over? Does any one have a so-called primary?
Plenty of work!
Hi There -

If you're running out of work, please contact your ROM and TL. While there may be low volume on your account due to the seasonal drops (summer is typically slow for my clinic accounts, for example), there is work available on other accounts and other regions. That's one of the beauties of Transcend: our size. Each of us is committed to keeping our team working.

The other option is flexing your schedule - if you're flexible and can work when the volume is high (evenings and weekends), you are more likely to have work from your primary.

Please - if you have any problems - contact your ROM! Give us the chance to help you!

Plenty of work for me at TT
I also very rarely run out of work.  I think it depends on account and whether you do SR (or AVR ... whatever you want to call it).  I do SR, work day shift and have plenty of work.
plenty of work
I work for them...since November 07.  I have never run out of work and they are starting new accounts, 3 or 4.  There is plenty of work...all the time. Pick your days, no schedule but 24 hr TAT
Not at JLG. I am getting plenty of work
x
Plenty of work
I must work for a busy account.  I have been there for 3 months and most of the time we are slammed.
Plenty of work
I have been there over 2 years and have yet to run out of work.  Lots of new accounts being added as well.  New platform too, not just the old Ext Text.  Pay is on time, though may vary by a couple of days, they do have a choice of benefits.  Plenty of backup accounts.  You must do ESLs because a lot of the hospitals are the huge ones and of course have a lot of them.
We have plenty of work and also are NOT
hiring. In fact, we are running out of TAT most of the time.
Yes, I have plenty of work
I do 1500 lines per day 5 days a week. The only time it was low was at Christmas (when it is always low everywhere at every company), and it was low then only very briefly.
You should all have plenty of work.
We found out our company has lost 3 accounts to Transcend. I'm tempted to apply just so I can work the account I had for over 5 years.
Don't want your work, got plenty of my own!
But didn't they also say that they're taking on new accounts all the time? Somebody's got to work those new accounts when they come on board....

(And no, nobody has offered to give me anybody else's work.)
I disagree. I have plenty of work. -sm
It was a little slow around the holiday, and they might not get back to you ASAP on some of your questions, but they do get back to you. Overall I find it to be a very professional atmosphere. So far, they don't seem like they're out to get me like some of the other companies.
I have plenty of work on my account, just having a little .... SM
trouble getting my line count up.  I'm beggining to think I'm getting old and slowing down too much to be on a new account and new system.  Very disappointed in this.
Don't let the naysayers get to you. I have plenty of work now too. sm

It IS a good idea to have a backup account, though -- you might ask for one if your work starts to dry up.  I have been there for about 5 years now and had 2 accounts, and recently added a third.

Glad to see someone else is happy at MDI-MD.  I think it is a great company.  D truly does care about the MTs, and she is one of the few people willing to pay exceptional people an exceptional salary.

I have plenty of work and am doing OT this weekend. Maybe you could ask
for a transfer to a different supervisor.
I have plenty of work and always have. Depends on the
account, the type of transcription (clinic, HIM or radiology), etc. Keystrokes does not do is overhire. My manager told me the other day that there have been 15 new accounts since November that have started and that they have increased the number of transcriptionists accordingly.

I think everyone with Keystrokes will agree. We work for one of the few companies that has had work when this board is full of companies running out of work.
Try going to Diskriter. Plenty of work
nm
Plenty of work? Any PTO? Okay bennies? nm
