our hospital provided the outsource service samples of ESL's dictation so that the
reports wouldn't keep coming back with missing dictation and blanks and horrendous attempts at guessing. I would also keep asking your company over and over and over again to please provide you with a sample, if not from the hospital, then maybe from one of their transcriptionists on the same account.
I am on a hospital account
using EXText and the sound quality is fine.  I can get my lines OK and yes, although I have a few docs that are ESL it is less than what I would consider normal.  I have not done clinic work for Medware, just a large hospital in FL.  Hope you get a better answer, but I would consider Medware because they have been great to work for.
IC - yes - 1 hospital account. nm

Hospital account ID?
If you will be working on a hospital account and are waiting for them to give you the ID, then, yes, it may take a few extra days. I had to wait a few days for the hospital to assign me an ID number. I was told the holdup was not on Keystrokes' end. Maybe you could call the office and ask?

However, I would not worry if I were you. It WAS a holiday weekend.

Welcome to Keystrokes! I hope you will be as happy here as am I.

More than likely you will be on your hospital's account, so in
that respect you have that part down. I would talk with them and see what they have to offer. Some companies are grandfathering in insurance, PTO, etc. that you already have.
Yes, new hospital account
nm
Does WMX still have a 5 hospital account
in the Atlanta area?  I think they got the account about 2 years ago, but only doing overflow, didn't have entire account.
Hospital Account Work
Go to mtdaily.com and check on their jobs page. There are numerous. Diskriter has issues; be careful. Of course, all places of employment have those, but some you have to be very careful with. It is great to work at home, and there are some great employers. If you don't need benefits, I'd suggest working as an independent contractor as you can set your own hours. However, if you need more discipline and the benefits, working for a national company might be great for you. Good luck.
The account can get bigger if the hospital uses...sm
several services for their transcription. So, if they decide to start letting company B do what company A used to do, then yes, the account is getting bigger and bigger for company B. Also, Maybe the hospital is part of a large system and company A was only doing one location and the hospital is happy with the work so they start giving them more and more locations, guess what, the account is getting bigger and bigger. There are many ways for the account to get bigger, so she is not lying to you, as I work on one of the accounts she is talking about and that is what has happened. They now need double the amount of MTs they first needed for this account, as they are now outsourcing more work to Diskriter. Make sense?
I know they just got a large hospital account near me.

It's the FL Hospital account, not employed by

Is Apex the name of the hospital account that
you are assigned to?  It doesn't sound familiar to me.  They also must have 2 different QA teams because super nice as you describe doesn't come close to what I've experienced.  I'm glad your happy though.
It's just a local hospital account, not a
national.  Most of the time I do their acute care work on Chartscript; I just help on radiology in Meditech if they are backlogged.  It's not the Meditech Magic version, though.  Don't know if that makes a difference.
If the hospital finds out will they pull the account? nm
nm
It depends on the account. They use the platform of the hospital or they use
either Scribe or TA Plus. All are easy to use and learn. I am on a Meditech account and love it but it is a hospital. Depends what you are looking for. I do not get shift differential but my hours are flexible as long as I get my 1200 lines in on the calendar day.
I went and got my own hospital account, at home, IC status. nm

Diskriter MTs, is hospital account or DR accounts a
nm
TransTech has done the same on a conglomerate hospital account

No choice, but to take the 4 cents per line.  Jobs will come as they come to you and no choice except to work at 4 cents per line or less.  Very sad for us MTs who work on that huge hospital account.  Not only that, but they are changing platforms at the same time, both of which will SLOW us all down.

Not wise to stay in this field UNLESS we are working directly for the hospital with great benefits and most MTs able to work from home at the SAME pay as working inhouse and the SAME benefits as those working in the MTSO office would get -- true paid holidays -- locked doors to the office, and on and on.

I worked on a large teaching hospital account and was
frequently out of work.  KS didn't have the entire account.  I don't know if they had in-house MTs or they used more than one company.  You should have a backup account too, though there may be some  lag time between getting you a backup as they figure out where they can plug you in.   They supposedly are getting several new accounts so surely they should be plenty of work.
No. Teaching Hospital account, too many dictators = low line count = little $$$. nm

You should ask for samples from (sm)
each person who will be dictating before you decide on a rate. Certain dictators may only need a slight bit of editing where others will need you to transcribe the entire report numerous times before the system gets it right!
samples
I don't have much in the way of samples. You can ask for samples from specific doctors if you have a hard time with them and they can pull some for you.
Why not ask for more samples?
.
Did they give you samples? That would help. SM
I work on a mostly ESL account and prefer them to doctors who talk a mile a minute.

The longer you hear doctors with accents, the more attuned your ears become and, as if by majic, they tend to lose their accent. Give yourself some time and I would strongly suggest your company be more supportive.
You don't need to ask for samples with Extext
Best software program ever.
How easy is it to get samples, etc?
nm
You mean samples of the reports
when you're first starting?
Yes, repor t samples. Thanks :)
.
So much to take to DC - thank you for all of your emails and samples

The USMLSU folks want to thank you all for emailing your suggestions, ideas, experiences, as well as samples of the horrific reports that are returned from India to US QA editors to correct - the before product; this is exactly what we needed to take with us to DC.  So many of you have responded and are already helping out, that we've proven that a group of skilled professionals do not have to go on strike to make a difference in their financial future.

The fair pay vote results will be listed shortly.

Can the company provide you with samples of the
sdd
How about providing some samples of format? sm
OK, so transitioning can be tough, but for an MT with that kind of experience, I would assume that with a few samples of format to follow she could be up and running in no time. I would not mess with them. Something is weird.
More than 1/2 the time you don't get actual facility samples, tho, just
s
Then provide samples and learning tools.
We are all only human.  The doctor is supposed to be reviewing and signing these reports they dictate.  Are they not?  If they sign off a report that has an error, that then makes the dictating physician liable, not the MT.  This docking for errors sounds like another scheme to make money off of hard-working MTs.    tsk tsk
She could remove all MQ-related stuff, samples, etc.

Agree to point, but people need samples and also ability

Most of their work does not get proofed. some of it is absolutly awful - I've seen samples - ACK

Are we in the same skinking ship?
x
You will "jump ship"... ???
That's the chance you take for IC status.  There is no loyalty.. it's a CONTRACT position with no gaurantees.  You aren't required to commit to a schedule, they can't ASK you for a schedule - if you don't feel like working, you don't have to.  That's the perks.  An employee can't do that.  On the flip side, the perk of being an employee is that they come first.  They have to comply with a schedule, they are REQUIRED to work even if they don't feel like it.  You might want to do your homework on IC status.  If a company doesn't give the full time employees the work when it's slow, then there is a problem.  If you are worried about special treatment - you should then become employee status.  You don't have to take the benefits.  Some companies will even pay better if you don't take the insurance.
Jump ship
Their pay plan is horrible to work with. The bonus is based on your QA score, if I'm not mistaken from the month previous and that goes through the whole next month. So if you have a bad month, it will haunt you for the next month!
I jumped ship too. (nm)
.
I jumped ship

glad I did.

jump ship now
you won't be sorry.
Yay! Here's to hanging onto the ship!

Sinking ship?
Noticing where I work several accounts no longer sending work...very few new accts also this year.  It's a medium sized company, not huge, so this worries me.  Anyone who has worked for a co that has fell apart, I wonder what some signs were?  A little nervous here!!!!
sinking ship
Could be that they are sending offshore instead......I am hearing that more and more companies are doing this (especially the medium to smaller ones) because of lower rates.    Not a rumor but just a thought.
More info on the ship
No, it's not that company.  I do QA and haven't seen anything that looks like offshore work, and I worked for another company previously where I did do QA for offshore - you can tell that stuff a mile away.  There's been a shift in mgmt and I just wonder if clients aren't as happy, sales maybe not as strong???  I don't know. I have a job now and it's a good one but I would also like information about what's going on other than what everyone is doing wrong, you know what I mean! :)  I was just hoping people who have experienced this might have some other things to look for.......
Jumping ship
I agree with you on the panic thing, just went to VR about 2 months ago and it is definitely not what was presented to me. I am looking into LPN courses, a year and a half, will make better money than I am now, and keep doing VR on the side. The VR money would qualify for pocket money for sure.
Diskriter off off offshores - and on some hospital accounts - they have not informed the hospital
x
Jewish is the main hospital, St. Mary's is another hospital under their management. (nm)

Not flaming you, but where would you ship to? Might be jumping
zz
Couldn't you just ship it back yourself?
Fedex or UPS could probably ship it back for $30-40, is my guess.
