True, but most of them are, aren't they? They are for me.

True but I got news for ya - you aren't going to get steady work anywhere that way.-
An MTSO has an account to cover. Period. She will give the work to whomever is willing to be flexible enough to cover the account. Even an IC has to work within some framework, not just whenever I feel like it, right?
Do you think all the headers and footers aren't getting counted? Lots of places aren't giving
    s
Glad that's true for you for 8 years. Not true for many. I love the company, but I do run out of
as do many others. Wish I were as fortunate as you.
Not necessarily true. That is not a true test of skill.
Do you know how many people get others to take tests for them? It happens and it happens more often than you might think. The only skill that shows anyway is that you can do it.

We are actually more than a transcriptionist. We are specialists in our field and we are supposed to know some things regarding anatomy and physiology as a working base. That's how we can judge if a physician dictates something in accurately and many do because they can't pronounce or just are not thinking. That's why our skills of basic knowledge come into play and that means basic knowledge of body parts. If our job was just to sit there and type without thinking about what we are transcribing, then all patients are in trouble and this is just based on what I see as a QA person.

It's more than just knowing how to transcribe and some of the companies have discovered how to know what your basic knowledge is based on what you have picked up with your experience by utilizing your references etc. Hopefully that utilization of your references has taught you something that does stick in your head.

Beliefs like yours are just so far off base. You have to know what you are doing. It's not just about being able to listen and type. Base knowledge is a very important thing and the services have to find a way to know that knowledge base that is there in your head.

This may be true... and that is philisophically true, but
and pay bills while being screwed? This is what I think the OP is scared of... I certainly agree and honestly think it is unfair to put people in this precarious position... on one hand be grateful you still have your job, or a job, and on the other, immediately there will possibly be a cut in pay, for which you may have to give up your home, or medicine or reduce your budget for food. I don't know if I am the only one, but I think the OP still has a good head on her shoulders and that may be the problem...at least for employers out there who are switching to VR.. and their employees
You aren't the only one, believe me. NM

Aren't they the ones who are
    supposedly looking into buying Heartland?
aren't they all going to be
under regional supervisors within a year??? If you can get yourself under the northeast regional supervisor, do it. She's great.
Oh MY aren't you a gas
Why would you care. Bitter? I got a great job by not being hired by them with innumerable benefits and assigned to a nice a/c with great potential.

Don't get my way - do you mean expecting to be paid on time is being bitter and spoiled? What planet do you come from? LOL

And yes SD is said - it's not my fault they auto cap it - boy do you have issues!!!! sd is standard shorthand for said my friend. can't imagine even noticing something like that.
Uh, no. They aren't doing that

The letter I received a few months ago when I cancelled my membership said something quite different.  It had nothing to do with keeping the jobs US based.  It was all about quality healthcare documentation which is important; don't get me wrong there.  However, there was NOTHING in there stating anything about keeping this work here at all.  Instead it was all about the global marketplace and a cop-out.

I personally feel that the bulk of the healthcare industry knows cheaper doesn't necessarily mean better or even close to what is expected.  I don't think all of the jobs are going to disappear.

I have written, called and probably annoyed my senator and any other government official in my state about outsourcing private healthcare information.  India, for example, does not have stringent laws about private information like we do.

We do have a personal responsibility though.  I have brought this up on other boards, but we need to ask our healthcare providers if their back office is handled here.  If not, choose another provider if possible.  Of course avoiding purchase of everything that comes from somewhere else is virtually impossible, but there are lots of other things.  This may also sound mean, but if I get on the phone with customer service somewhere and realize the person I am speaking with is offshore, I have my call transferred.  Nothing against the person, but I am not discussing my personal account information with someone who is not 100% required by law to protect that information.  Period.  If enough people take the intiative (not saying in this particular way), the gov't and other organizations won't have a choice but to listen.

Outsourcing globally is not the trend right now.  I really think pulling together can stop it from becoming so.

    Aren't they like about $40,000 ???
My car's OLD - only kind I can afford.
And just because you aren't a fan sm
doesn't mean it is a bad company for everyone.
    Aren't we all?

You REALLY ARE NEW aren't you?

    Snort...  How naive.

Look, the really sad thing is that work has really picked up at TT and if whomever the fool is that decided to file this lawsuit had just waited a bit, things on MT Stars would have died down.  Have you seen any negative postings about TT recently?  No, because there is WORK!!

If you let your anger rule your head, you will show yourself for the fool that you are.

    Sad, truly sad....

Obviously, you aren't one of them...
If you had the slightest legal knowledge, you would know that any person can file a lawsuit against anyone -- the claims don't have to be true. Again, enjoy your Law 101 class.
    If you aren't happy
why don't you leave?  You seem to know so much, so you must work for OSi.  You musn't be able to get another job elsewhere.
If you aren't using an expander just think how
many more lines you could produce with an Expander and then that would be like gettin a raise.
Why don't you just go back to MQ, they aren't that bad
I was full-time with them and quit for reasons not related to all the new changes, but after thinking it over, I decided to keep some part-time hours because I enjoy the work.

DISCLAIMER: This post was not spellchecked or proofread for errors, so if you find one, please don't bash me......
    A little snippy aren't we?
    nm
No they aren't. They are looking for editors

Is there a little emoticon for putting a finger down one's throat and retching?

    Maybe we aren't talking
not sure what kind of rate could result in $4.25/1000 words...but I'm doing much better than that...so far.
I have worked for TRS and while they aren't the
worst company out there, I certainly would never recommend them.  Any time people can't figure out how much their making, it isn't an ideal situation.  The Trinidad issue and how it was handled is another strike against them.
    They aren't outsourcing. nm
    nm
    Wow, aren't we cynical!
I am working for TT because a couple of TT employees took the time to answer my questions about the company and it sounded like it might be the place for me. I am very glad they were so helpful, because now I work there and I'm very happy. I haven't found any drawbacks to working there. If the companies you have chosen to work for have not turned out well, I'm sorry, but don't assume they are all the same. It is absolutely not fair to try to run down a company's name when you admit you never worked there. I do work there, and the company hasn't asked me to advertise for them. I can't believe you would judge people who go out of their way to try to help other MTs find a good company.
    You aren't getting paid? nm
    x
You aren't missing much with sm
Transhealth. Chartmatrix stinks, doesn't integrate well with Word at all (cannot use autocorrect), crashes alot, and hard dictators. Their test dictators are actual doctors on their system. Management and office staff turn over quite frequently. Transolutions last I knew started out at 6 cents a line. You may want to go IC if you don't need the benefits.
    Aren't you clever...
I didn't call *myself* 'garbage' - and you know it, but I guess going for the cheap shot is the best you can do?

Your experience may have been wonderful; mine was the worst. The person who originally asked about the company needs to hear both negative and positive feedback.
Apparently you aren't going to let this go!
Tricky: I asked a while back how far off the line counts are in your mind - 2% 1% 10%?

If its a small discrepancy you might consider dropping it, if its a lot you could find a different job if management can't explain it to your satisfaction.

That said, I'm totally in your corner if there is serious discrepancy here, but so far you have not elaborated how much you think the counts are off.

Aren't we all. Why do you think someone should just hand
    9
    My my aren't we judgemental
    x
    Well we aren't staying
a very large portion of the MQ staff is leaving, the majority of which as I can guestimate have been with MQ for many, many years, made them what they are. I myself have 12 years in with MQ and am done in 3 weeks.  Don't get snotty with us...
    Aren't they out of Texas

    You aren't going w/ Amphion?
Or are you a different Rainbow
    When MTs aren't working
    1. Burnout. It's quite common in this field, due to the intensity of the job. Anyone with any real experience in this field knows this and takes precautions to keep it from happening. Intelligent employers make sure it doesn't happen, recognize it when they see it and work the MT through it. If not, good MTs are lost. Many people supervising MT now are not MTs and are completely ignorant of the job.
    2. Getting mostly crap work or unfamiliar work on an ongoing basis. If bombed with crap work without compensation for known crap work, MTs get the above burnout, pound their brains out for nothing then give up.
    3. We are people, not nameless machines. Lack of adequate rest or reasonable time off without penalty is self-defeating. MTs that give up their entire lives for their jobs and then make less than 30K for it eventually slow down. No incentive to keep going. After two years without a mammogram, dental appointment, a filthy house and my family having to make appointments with me to see me, I found myself in a vicious cycle that was not worth it. These personal things have to be done and eventually people will do them when they get fed up with self-neglect.

And that is why some people aren't working.

    why aren't you working?????
    too busy reading everyone's posts?????
aren't we ALL recruiters for the
company we work for. Obviously we like where we work since we are employed there....and don't we all then recruit others who are in the job market....
I'd say if you aren't using their equipment it is known of their

business.  I do see an issue if you have their equipment and are using that equipment in the second job.

Maybe the MT's at TT aren't interested in QA
A lot of MT's aren't cut out for or even interested in doing QA. TT is running the ad but they haven't even posted the ad within the company for some reason. I am happy doing MT'ing for TT and make a lot of money so I'm not interested but I do have acquaintances and friends in QA, one just left and another one has been looking to leave for some time.
Maybe it is because they just aren't cutting it!

They are used to getting up and leaving their work area for as long as they like or maybe they are used to working 5 hours out of a 7-hour shift?  Maybe because now they are expected to do what is asked of them??  Maybe they are trying to babysit their kids while working and have too many distractions??

I am an oldie but goody with Axolotl and I will say these things are totally not true!!!!

    No, they aren't that good....
Not from my experience anyway. Maybe they have really good American QA. I TRIED to QA some of their work for a very short time and just could not do it. It was not QA, it was re-do.
Oh please!! You really are arrogant aren't you?
A LOT of positions don't pay much more than 7.5 cpl for clinic notes no matter how much experience/knowledge you have and some are even less. YES, OP notes should be paid at a higher rate.
They aren't asking you to do this forever either, are they? sm
Looks like a temporary bind in schedule coverage and you'll be able to take a weekend day off later, after your boss gets better coverage. Doesn't seem threatening to me; he or she is asking for your help.
    Aren't they in Arkansas?
What do you want to know? I might be able to help if you mean QED in Arkansas.
Maybe you just aren't good enough

Almost 0.06 VR, 0.095 total type.

Maybe your work quality rates you with the bottom feeders. I've been there a few weeks and got hired on with these numbers.

    Aren't you modest!
    x
You aren't presenting yourself or your co. well sm
at all.  I don't work for Cardioscribes, but after reading your responses to employees of that company, I can see you have quite an attitude.  Doesn't make me or anyone else rush to put in an application if we have to work under someone like you.
    We aren't talking about that
We aren't talking about being an IC and sticking to a schedule.  We are talking about something else.
You aren't getting the point sm
Yes, I can do VR and very well. Others can do it very well. It's not an anti-technology issue. It's a bottom line pay issue. The VR needs extensive revisions. There is no way on God's green earth that you can make as much money on VR as you do if you type 125 wpm, which I doubt you do type. I made $30 an hour typing and $30 an hour editing human typists. I could not make anywhere near that on VR. Say what you want, I smell an MTSO company owner here who is pushing VR. Glad you like, go on your own happy little way now but stop the BS about VR paying as well because we ALL know that is simply NOT TRUE. The only way people will do that is IF THEY CAN'T MAKE MONEY TYPING BECAUSE THEY AREN'T FAST ENOUGH OR IF THEY CANNOT FIND ANY OTHER JOB.

Good for you that you like it. Nobody cares.
    they certainly aren't the worst
I asked my supervisor about the tiered pay scale a while back and they told me that it was to encourage more production out of us because it is easier to manage 1 of us typing 15000 lines a pay period than 3 of us typing 5000 lines a pay period. As far as all the hiring lately, I heard they have a lot of new accounts coming on.

I don't agree with everything they do, but I've been with most of the big names and eTrans is way better than any of them. I can actually get my work done most days without even hearing a peep from anyone at the company other than the occasional email.
