So it's true that Transcend is going to offshore.
Otherwise she would have denied it, right?
I believe your point to be true. Because how can companies with sm
thousands of employees have policies that are hardly worth what we pay with high deductibles, etc.? There are companies in my town with just a few hundred and those people are paying just $15 a week for great family coverage.

I think there is definitely something rotten in Denmark!
That is simply not true. They still offshore approx. 80% of everything
and will continue to do so. That was the whole point of Nuance purchasing Focus. Whoever is telling you otherwise is simply lying to you...or you are lying to us!
I've heard they don't offshore anymore. Don't know if true.
nm
If this is true that you offshore only for night shift and weekends, then PLEASE

explain to me the statements in your SEC about going to 35% by end of 2009 and the plan to continue to INCREASE the amount you offshore.  How can those be the company's goals if you only offshore nights/weekends when you cannot find US MTs to cover?  I can't make the two mesh in my mind.  I have seen this question asked a few times now with no response.  One of the posts even vanished from the board, which I found quite disturbing in and of itself.  If someone at Transcend would address this, I might feel a bit differently about their offshoring, but when they continue to ignore this question about their own statements, it is very unsettling.

I also saw a Transcend MT post and say they DO work the night shift and they canNOT make their lines because they see their work vanish around 10 p.m. nightly.  This would suggest that the work is TAKEN AWAY from the U.S. MT and sent to India, when there is a U.S. MT sitting there ready, willing, and able to work the night shift.  If you want the confidence of MDI MTs, then PLEASE give us straight answers about this hugely important issue.

We have also repeatedly asked if we would be able to have SE status, maintain our flexible scheduling, which is imperative for some of us, pay range, line definition, insurance questions, etc., and have received NO information, only vague statements about the foreseeable future, a case-by-case basis, etc.  Surely Transcend knows what their insurance plan entails, what their pay scale is, how they definie a line, whether or not they have any intention of honoring our current pay rates, whether or not they intend to allow us to write our own schedules or work a set shift, or keep SE status.

I can't for the life of me believe that NONE of these issues were discussed between the two companies before the merger, nor have they now been discussed when the questions were specifically set before them by the MTs and again reportedly brought to Transcend by Carlotta.  And yet we STILL have no more information than before the original conference call, only very vague statements.  So no, this does NOT inspire confidence to stay and give Transcend a chance.

I can deal with just about anything if I am given the facts and the truth.  It is the mushroom treatment that I simply cannot abide.

No prob...

I probably overreacted to your post..there is usually so much negativity on these boards which is why I don't post often but I felt maybe I could contribute something to the discussion and tried to be straightforward and just felt like I got dumped on..which I am sure you didn't mean...anyway after reading a few more posts am thinking it may be more a PC issue than a dictaphone...which is really too bad because I have a new computer budgeted for myself sometime in late 2015..

take care.
Has ALWAYS been a prob for some
I worked for Transform for their first 6 yr of operation (was 1st employee) & I would spend weeks trying to make enough to make it worthwhile. There were 2-3 years out of that 6 that I made halfway decent money & then they went from MDintouch to Vscript & that went out the window. If they are not thrilled w/your work (when I worked for them I saw this frequently) they would just not send it to you - happened to a couple of my co-MTs. Then they would send you some & be on your backside when you didn't have it done quickly w/o ever contacting you to let you know there was some there for you. And MANY times they would send me 20 reports at a time or so & if I didn't have them done in an hour or so (I spent more time waiting for down & uploading than actual typing - which is of course free time - no pay) they would disappear to somebody else. So working for them resulted in a lot of waiting for work. How are things now? Just wondering. I quit in 1/06 & was the smartest move I made in my career.
The prob w/ProScript is (sm)
absolutely no communication. Didn't the email in December say there'd be tons of work by mid Feb?
no prob's w/vista and mdi.

prob dependent on experience..nm

Thanks..1200/day no prob. Can you tell me more about schedule with Ax? Thanks again SM
Is it hard to get time off? I may need a few days off in the first year. I have a supervisor now who is a pain, so I'm not too worried about that aspect.
You could prob get a first shift, but not sure about the weekend day. sm
I think possibly you would have to work 1 weekend day. I am not 100% on that though. If you wanted to work 2nd shift, say 2-10 pm or 3-11 pm, you might get a M-F schedule.
I think you can't be. Prob 98% of companies want you to work a weekend day.
I have more time than you and i think you are sorely mistaken in taking that attitude and that you will not get anything nowadays with that specification.
Here is a link (prob forgot to put in MEDICAL?
.
I have and it worked great for me using mouse controls. No prob.

offshore overseas.... not outsource .... correct term is offshore.
nm
This seems to be pro-offshore board. Messages against offshore often just disappear.

Excellent point, and point in case
look at the charlatan christian in the
Whitehouse who uses religion to push his agenda...

Christian IS as Christian DOES...
I understand your point, my point is why can't MTs and QA work together..
being QA doesn't mean you are above everyone else, you are just an extra set of ears...and why do so many MTs take offense to QA??? That is my point...you made have had bad experiences in the past with QA but not all QA are bad...
Glad that's true for you for 8 years. Not true for many. I love the company, but I do run out of
as do many others. Wish I were as fortunate as you.
Not necessarily true. That is not a true test of skill.
Do you know how many people get others to take tests for them? It happens and it happens more often than you might think. The only skill that shows anyway is that you can do it.

We are actually more than a transcriptionist. We are specialists in our field and we are supposed to know some things regarding anatomy and physiology as a working base. That's how we can judge if a physician dictates something in accurately and many do because they can't pronounce or just are not thinking. That's why our skills of basic knowledge come into play and that means basic knowledge of body parts. If our job was just to sit there and type without thinking about what we are transcribing, then all patients are in trouble and this is just based on what I see as a QA person.

It's more than just knowing how to transcribe and some of the companies have discovered how to know what your basic knowledge is based on what you have picked up with your experience by utilizing your references etc. Hopefully that utilization of your references has taught you something that does stick in your head.

Beliefs like yours are just so far off base. You have to know what you are doing. It's not just about being able to listen and type. Base knowledge is a very important thing and the services have to find a way to know that knowledge base that is there in your head.

Actually, I can see your point AND the opposing point
.
offshore to India, it's OFFSHORE (off shore), not outsource to India.
nm
This may be true... and that is philisophically true, but
and pay bills while being screwed? This is what I think the OP is scared of... I certainly agree and honestly think it is unfair to put people in this precarious position... on one hand be grateful you still have your job, or a job, and on the other, immediately there will possibly be a cut in pay, for which you may have to give up your home, or medicine or reduce your budget for food. I don't know if I am the only one, but I think the OP still has a good head on her shoulders and that may be the problem...at least for employers out there who are switching to VR.. and their employees
The offshore...
but that's to cover third shift. They have no intention of replacing their whole staff with offshore workers. There are things I don't like about the company but I believe them when they say that. They've been offshoring for years and have plenty of work for those who want to work in the US.
Offshore, offshore, offshore.
o
Do you me offshore

Outsource is what hospital do when they send their dictation to a company such as Transcend or OSI.

Offshoring is when they send their dictation to overseas transcriptionists.  It is easy to confuse the two.

offshore definitely nm
nm
They offshore, top pay is around 8.5 cpl.
There have been several complaints the last couple of weeks about lack of work.  Benefits are good.   Don't know about platform.   Check archives, lots about them lately.
Offshore

Diskriter and OSi also offshore.

Rather than have new posters search through tons of archives for answers to this question, maybe a list should be made of all companies that do offshore and posted permanently on the board, with revisions made as new ones come up.  Just a suggestion...please no flames!

Yes, they offshore.
They have a facility in India. The fact that they offshore is all over this board. They have purchased several companies. I do not know if one of them is in New Jersey.
Did he tell you they offshore? nm

They offshore.

They both offshore
nm
They use offshore. sm

I saw this on their website under hospital solutions:

We offer a choice of Domestic or Philippine based medical transcription services with U.S based Quality Assurance specialists, and 24-hour or STAT file turnaround.

They offshore too.

It's offshore
I never thought the academic and research would go offshore too, but I was wrong.
With a pay cut like that...they might as well offshore.
/
Offshore sm
Medware, Focus Infomatics and OSI send work offshore.  Don't know about the other one.
and it's no wonder MT is going offshore with
makes an MT work under these conditions!
They offshore. Very low pay.
.
I think you mean that they offshore.
.
They offshore. They don't pay very well.
They've changed the way they pay recently, which I think is a bit strange, but seems an attempt to make it seem like you are making more than you are.
No but they do offshore
They finally admitted it after denying it for years. I am looking for another job for a lot of reasons. One reason is the extra work without pay, and they do offshore on one of my accounts so I have to hop around to find work to do. I am tired of it. The other poster is correct-- they do not seem to care about the MTs.
Yes they do offshore
Yes, they offshore
They offshore, pay low.
I think two people who work there speak English.
Well they do offshore of course
They go give mentees a chance and spend the rest of their time figuring out ways to screw the rest of the MT's out of lines and money.
It's definitely the big O that is sent offshore
because I had to QA them.
Yes, they now offshore sm
They have what they call Precyse International now in India I believe.

It was a pretty great place to work, but as soon as they started to offshore, things changed quite quickly. They sent the good work away to Precyse International, at least on the accounts I worked on anyway. That is why I left.
They do offshore!
Yep, they do, I work for them and I do know this for a fact.
How do you know they offshore?
Their recruiter told me they don't.  Specifically, I asked if that was how they got their name and was told Yes.  But WHY are they ALWAYS advertising?
