I have 4 accounts, doing all work types, and I usually have enough work but this is the slow time of
year so we are scrambling a little for lines.  Easy platform, paychecks DD, always on time.
work types

Hello,

I had consults, H&P, discharge summary, a few OP notes here and there, basically in all specialities, cardiology, neuro, GI, Ortho, OB/GYN, psych, etc.

One of the things I can tell you for sure that I didn't do was radiology.

HTH, any other questions just let me know!

Work types are
discharge summaries, op notes, history and physicals, ER notes, consultations, clinic notes, etc.
Work Types
Is it just me or does there seem to be a trend of work assigning lately. I type fairly fast and I find myself getting bottom of the barrel scraps lately.
re work types
it is my understanding they have clinic work as well, but i am doing acute care.
I CAN do the other work types. Not much

experience with caths or sleep studies, but can do the basic 4 without any problem.  I can do the worst of the ESLs with rarely any problems, but I sure don't want to do them all day, no matter how much they pay me.

I'm hoping things settle down.  I don't plan on changing jobs, but didn't plan on changing to this one either but I didn't have a choice.   I'm seriously looking to get out of the MT business, but still be at home.

Thanks. Are there certain work types that seem to need help and how are the
accounts that they have and the system they use.
Do you do all work types?

Do you do all work types? sm
I haven't had any problems running out of work. I have heard from others who only do clinic, or who don't do op notes. But everyone I have talked to who do all the work types have had no problem.

As for the ESLs, unfortunately, you can't escape them anywhere. You just have to learn to deal with them. They actually do get easier the more you do them. Not my preference, but hey, I've got a job, an income. I'm happy. :-)
WHAT ABOUT WORK TYPES, 99% ESL OR WHAT? ..

It's easy to get your lines as long as the work is there and you get a halfway decent work type, but if no one can understand the crap that's put out (call it 'work pool' set my managers)--- what difference does it make if they DO have work?  They can have all the work they want - but if you have to put in 18 hours to get 8 hours worth of required lines , well, big deal if they do have work!

Could you do all work types, or were you limited?nm
nm
Not here. You get your work types and accounts first.

New work types are being added to ML
.
Maybe they are referring to other work types
H&Ps and consults are still H&Ps and consults wherever you go. As you know, each facility will have specs, any differences (should there be any) would be listed there. The company you were talking to might have been referring to OPs, cardio and specialty procedures more so than the basics. Just an idea. I would not let that company get you down. With that much experience, you'll get a job easily enough. Good luck to you. God Bless.
Lots of different work types
.
When I was hired, they asked me what work types I liked from sm
best to worst. I have progress notes last. I hate them but get a few every day-type them anyway. Wish I got more op notes but H&Ps and consults keep me real busy.
totally different situations between work types. nm

and i love it, so i can change work types
with my mood, or stop if i want to take a short break, without having to plan way ahead.
I find it very hard to believe that all work types are on a 1-hour TAT(sm)
Are you talking about stats or everything?  Do you have this 1-hour TAT in writing?  I've never even heard of hospitals being on that tight a TAT.
I am on a new account, doing work types I cant make money on. nm
xxx
Just be flexible with your work types and accounts and you should be fine.
nm
What level work was that for? sm
Clinic or acute care?  What level?  TIA
Level 3 work

Does anyone else feel this way?  I'm a longtime acute care MT.  I always work my schedule, including weekends and holidays, have 98% to 99% accuracy.  I left MQ because of the changes; for years I averaged 200-250 lph and net $600. per week.  Then they changed platforms and I got nothing but ESL, mealymouths and static.   My income dropped in half and my stress level doubled.  I went to a company that has gotten rave reviews on this board and was put on a good account with fair line counts.  Then it began running out of work just as I was starting to see decent money.  They put me on a backup account (which is all I've been getting for days now, not my primary) and it is nothing but ESLs.  I KNOW there are decent dictators at every facility, and I'm willing to do my share of the bad ones, but ALL BAD?  What gives?  Do they WANT me to quit?  I'm not complaining so don't jump all over me.  I'm just curious if others are noticing this too.

Time available, equipment, work types, maybe a pop spelling quiz,
x
NOT TRUE! I worked every account and all work types and couldn't
nm
I left MQ and went to work for them. I am level 8 SM
and on an account with lots of ESLs and started out doing DS which for me, not very productive. I put in my 2 weeks notice, and told my team leader why.
Entry-level work
What companies like to hire recent grads other than Focus and Encompass?
Entry-level work
Thank you!
Too many variables to count. A lot depends on shift, accounts, what types of work you do. (sm)

I can be totally out of work on my 2 accounts and pull up backlog report and see some accounts have OT offered.

Every company has some employees totally satisfied with amount of work and some who run out totally.

Like I said, many, many variables to be figured in.

Because people only want specific work types, easy dictators and certain hours...
That is why some people find a shortage of work, while others find an abundance. I cannot believe these last few threads and the vitriole of some of your responses. Any time a company is mentioned, any company, there are always a bunch of negative responses.

Maybe you all should check within yourselves to find out why you do not have enough work.

I happen to work for a company that is being negatively mentioned in these posts, and I am extremely happy. They may offshore, but they treat me very well, are communicative and I have never missed a paycheck. I also will do any work types, ESL, and will help out extra when asked. This is one of my first times on this board and I probably will not be back.
They have a low level 4, high level 4 and level 5.

I wonder what the work looks like with entry level MTs bouncing around in these accounts. Well, they
MQ will just continue to lose accounts and there will be less and less work. The entry level MTs cannot produce nearly what the experienced MTs can I know this from my supervisor and they send everything to QA because they arent sure of themselves so does this make sense. Not to me.
I ditto these 2 posts. Plus, on a personal/work level (sm)
All of that aside, when it comes down to doing the real work, many old and new MTs at MQ experience multiple accounts with multiple client profiles to read which cuts down on productivity. Even if you get 15 cents a line it doesn't matter if you have to waste time reading CPs and never becoming familiar with one account. JMO also.
TT has all types of work & will work w/you
.
Level 2 is clinic and level 3
Level 1 is ER work.  It's ER, but I get a great line count.  Plenty of macros and normals, we are paid for all of them.
have you ever done this kind of work before? sm
It is quite difficult and very tedious. People talking over one another, sometimes a lot of research on the internet that you would have to do just to find certain studies and authors. Quite frankly, I do not think $50 an audio hour is worth it. That breaks down to about $12/hour +/- $2/hour, depending on how good you are.

On the other hand, he is being quite generous with the pay, because there are transcription services that are paying $25-30/audio hour for the same kind of work!! That breaks down to $7-10/hour! And there are people that will do it!!

That is just my 2 cents
I work for MDI - what kind of info are
you wanting?
Sure, but what kind of work is left . sm
for straight typing?  VR rejects? 99% ESL and 100% crap?  At this point in time, there doesn't seem to be any reason for the VR MTs to envy the straight typers.
2000 lines per day, what kind of work are you doing? nm
xx
Kind of risky to praise the company you work for
because somebody who must have gotten burned at some job will jump on and announce that no company can be that good, so we must be lying! That we're really managers or recruiters.

< Sigh >
Not a lot of work right now; kind of disturbing that they're hiring
..
I am glad I work on VR but what kind of line count
are you trying to get. What do you want to make, $ wise or line wise?
I currently do this kind of work in addition to my medical accounts...sm
The rate seems pretty low, at least compared to what I make, and I can tell you from my experience with this type of work, it is very tedious. Expanders aren't nearly as helpful as in medical transcription, so it's pretty much straight typing. On the other hand it is a nice change of pace from the medical aspect, but for what they want to pay, probably best suited to a newbie.
My information is kind of old, but I used to work for them part time sm
and it was a good company.  The people were great, and they paid on time (weekly).  The pay was rather low, but what I was doing was easy clinic work, so it kind of balanced out.  Good luck!
It depends on who is offering it, and what kind of work is available. If you posted the company sm
name, we could give more helpful advice.
? That's kind of a blanket statement; things are fine on the accts I work on. sm
Yes, it was slow a couple weeks ago but started picking up last week.

PS - Yes, they pay for spaces.
WEBMEDX???? It's a small national, right? Benefits, running out of work, what kind of accounts,

flexible schedule (as in working EVERY weekend mandatory?

Any opinions on the company would be appreciated.  Found some in the archives but all mostly from 2004 and 1 recent post but not much info.  Thanks.

Not at all. I have 3 different types of software and
all three use a wave pedal. Two of them use USB and the other a 15-pin, and there is no conflict in the programming of each one.
Asking these types of questions will not help you
You sound like you have an ask to grind. If I were to ask these questions, I would appear unprofessional and I think we have enough of that in this industry. You should be giving yourself the warning about being careful what you post.
Can you request certain job types...sm

Do they let you request certain job types?

My favorite type of job is operative notes and I would be more than happy to take them off everyone's hands. My ideal day would be operative notes (with an occasional psych eval and ER note mixed in). I dream of the days when I could work without a set schedule on the work types that I liked on ONE account. Those were the days.

I'm been with MQ for almost 10 years and right now I'm in the cesspool of 25+ different hospitals; never having the same doctor; I just talked to my supervisor on the phone for the first time ever last week (and she's been my supervisor for 8 months now); haven't had a raise in 5 years despite asking every year. I've stuck it out for the last 3 years being unhappy because I felt fortunate to be able to work from home. I finally got mad enough this past week that I put my resume out and now I have 3 different companies to interview with in 2 days.
