Any companies offer part-timers chance to buy into group insurance? need coverage ....

I've been looking at prices for solo medical insurance and while I can probably afford some coverage, I'm feeling rather paranoid about having insurance canceled if I actually get sick -- I'm fairly ignorant about what protections may have been passed and may just be responding to other people's horror stories.

Anyway, I'm not entirely sure I want to work full time for any of the nationals ... they seem to have gotten awfully rigid wrt daily line counts within certain fixed hours ... some days I'm simply creaky and hate feeling pressured ... so part time to start seems more reasonable than jumping in with both feet.  Any infor or recommendations appreciated ...

Thanks!

I did not take the insurance coverage - already had it. nm

Did MDI-FL ever change their insurance coverage? SM
I was told by the owner several months ago that she was looking for a cheaper policy for their medical coverage.
Health Insurance Coverage
Anyone know of any companies that offer health insurance with a company other than Aetna.  Aetna is probably great insurance for most people but almost no preferred providers in my area.  Would like to find Blue Cross and Blue Shield or United Health Care.
Welcome to Keystrokes :-) I have single coverage on the insurance sm

so I cannot really answer your question about the family plan, but no one had responded, so I at least wanted to say hello.  I have medical ($1000 deductible), vision, and dental for $129.86 per pay period for single coverage.  I'm glad you cleared that up about the license thing because that threw me!  (smile).

I do not know what the percentage of ESLs is on my acccount.  It is a Meditech/C-phone count, and the lines are not really difficult to obtain.  The only problem I have is me ... can't seem to find my focus lately.  :(

Good luck!

Keystrokes' insurance was not canceled. They are looking for better rates and coverage sm
in more states as Unicare is not in every state. I have Unicare with them and while it is a little on the high side IMO, it is less than what my husband's non-MT job offers for our family of 5.

They are not working on it long after their insurance is canceled. They are working to change, which can be done at any time although preferably at the beginning of a year or quarter.

And by the way, your grapevine is not that great. You should check facts before posting something that makes it look like they don't have any insurance.
The current insurance is not bad. The coverage is decent, and they pay which is good. sm
I actually hope that they don't change, but I know that it is a big hassle for the office because they are in the middle. Too big to be individual coverage rates and too small for the best rates. I talked with the HR manager, and she told me that the rates they were given for one company tripled once all the worksheets were in. They based the price on the worst case scenario or worst health. Now they can get a flat rate but only if half of the FT employees sign up. I could here the frustration in her voice when I was talking to her. Insurance companies do not always play fair.
Axolotl insurance. They have great rates but what is the coverage
like?  Can anyone tell me what insurance company they use and what your experience has been?  TIA
Webmedx insurance question - coverage for self and spouse? (sm)

I saw posts regarding 1,000 and 2,000 deductible.  Is this the difference between BCBS gold and silver plan?  Also do they have a category for just yourself and spouse  or is it just family.  Since family could include umpteen children, I would think there would be a cheaper class for just you and spouse?

Not eligible for quite a while and haven't receive info yet from company. Just trying to make sure this will work for us or if I need to seek different employment.  We will be needing me to cover us as hubby is retiring soon.

TIA

Keystrokes has new insurance (finally) that is reasonable and good coverage. sm
The cost for a single person is $404 per month but they pay 1/2, so it is $202 or $101 per pay check (1st and 15th). I received my papers and card and rx card last week and the coverage is better than the BCBS that I had with others. $20 per visit co-pay, instead of $50.
Re MedScribe in Fla. Can anyone share insurance info for emp/spouse coverage? SM

I am especially interested in rate, copays, deductible, and prescription coverage, if possible.  Thanks very much!

Does anyone know what DeVenture offers in terms of insurance for famly coverage, costwise?
Thanks
Since it's a private group on Facebook, you have to click on "request to join group" sm
It takes about a day to be added after the request is put in.
Might be only the endocrine doc in a GI group, only the pacemaker doc in a cardio group, etc. nm
n
401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.
MAYBE they only need coverage
during those times. They might have other employees/ICs that cover other times so they only need them then. If you don't want to work then, then don't work there. As an IC you do not have the right to jump in whenever. You only have the right to say I will work xx to xx; or say no, I will not work xx to xx.
They do not pay anything on family coverage, IMO. That is why I would rather be an IC and buy

my own policy versus being an employee of a service.  When you think about it, being an employee for most of the services out there offers no real benefits at all.  I have found that the PTO that some of these companies offer as part of their benefits package is a crappy.  You basically get paid a base hourly rate for any PTO you take and that base rate never EVER equals what you actually make when typing.  So you are basically penalized for taking time off.

And health insurance benefit packages are a joke!  They pay nothing for family coverage and not to mention there is always the threat looming over your head that if your production falls, they can take your benefits away.

If I were you, I would either be an IC and buy your own policy or try to get on with a hospital that offers work at home MT jobs.  Hospitals are the only places that offer decent health insurance coverage for families.  I have my own accounts and bought a health insurance policy for my kids and I, but recently I took a job with a hospital just for the insurance.  So now I have my own accounts plus I work FT for a hospital from home.  I pay $175 a month for family coverage with a $1000 family deductible.  It was financially a smarter move for me to go to work as an employee with the hospital because I'm saving a bundle on insurance.

Again, let me say, I would NEVER go back to work as an employee for a service.  They don't offer anything that I would consider benefits.  You're better off buying your own policy.

Family coverage
is about $217 per pay period. I think you have to get this one if you have more than one child.
I have the individual coverage
and it's about $17 per week.  United Healthcare, good plan.  250 deductable.  I wish I could help you more but I know my regular doctor is on the plan so I am quite happy with the coverage.  Hope that helps.
I pay $202 per month for just me. The coverage is sm
OK, not bad actually. I don't go to the doctor often though.
Yes they have family coverage

but I do not need that right now.  I have a schedule but they are flexible hours so that really helps.  Pay does include all spaces, but what I like is the direct deposit and the steady work.  I have been with Medware for 2 years and always have work.  If my primary is out they give you a back up account.  Finally my income meets my needs and I can move ahead with some things around the house that needed fixing.  Plus it's nice knowing I have good health insurance.

We apparently don't have the same coverage
I have been charged the deductible for office visits, which was a surprise to me when it happened. Also, many medications are $50 per co-payment.

If you are healthy and don't need it, I guess it's good insurance. If you use it, you pay a LOT out of pocket and now it will be worse.
WMX has best overall family coverage
I absolutely agree 1000%!!! It has great benefits.
Vacation Coverage - IC
I work as an IC also, and I'm taking a few days off in just a few weeks. I let them know a month ahead of time. I'm the only one working for this company (very small) and she won't hire anyone else, so they know what they're in for when I'm gone. I don't know what they're going to do because they always had another girl for back up. The only bad thing I'll have more work than I can handle when I come back. I'm not sure how other companies handle the situation.
What kind of coverage?
Is that pretty good coverage or a big deductible?
MTSO can say need coverage for Dr X, do you want
x
That is for family coverage.
Maybe there are people that might have had a different experience, but just giving my opinion. I have also heard their platform sucks before from other people.
True. They may only need coverage for
certain times, therefore those are the times they hire the ICs for.
I had to drop my coverage -
I could not afford to pay the premiums as I had no work. I was basically working just to pay that.

Also, since they paid on a tier plan, I went from making over 11 cpl to making 6 CPL at the same time. That is why they do not mind overhiring - they get the same work done for much less money, so that means more money in their pockets.
MT Group
I would never work for her again.  Very moody, extremely picky.  She double checks to make sure there are 2 spaces after every period, not 1 and not 3.
mt group
Does anyone have any info on the MT group?  Thanks
MT Group
Too many accounting problems - slow pay, bounced checks, short checks.
MT Group
I have worked for them, and regardless of Melanie's posting, I did have bounced checks, late checks, short checks.
You have that right. Where this group of SM
princes and princesses came from, who knows.  All these demands for certain hours, certain accounts---when you do give it to them the work is ATROCIOUS and they don't finish what they just demanded to have due to family, medical, pet emergency.
seems like one group is

describing their experience at a company and the defenders are attacking the individuals posting with characteric assassination.  Let's be adults here.

ABJ Group? Does anyone
know if they went out of business? Cannot find them anywhere, and their website is not there either.  I also have an email address, but it came back as undeliverable.  Anyone have any current information about them? Thanks.
Yes, there was a group of 12 or more. nm
nm
Another group
I have been involved in starting groups with a specific purpose in mind before. What happens every time is that a bunch of different personalities get together for a common cause, then they start fighting over different ideas on how things should be done, lose sight of the original purpose, and the next thing you know it is like being back in the sandbox in kindergarden and nothing gets accomplished and the whole thing fizzels.
You really should not group all MTs together. nm
Not all of us whine, connive, or are disloyal. Personally, I am a very loyal IC. I show up and work when I say I will, produce top quality documents, and am appreciated by my accounts.

Maybe you have just come across a few bad apples, but not all of us have poor work ethics and personal values.

You should think before you write something so generic as this.
TT group

Isn't there a chat group on Twitter or Facebook for Transtech MTs??  How do you join it??

Insurance sucks compared to my old insurance... sm
The insurance seems like they don't want to cover anything, even simple prescriptions I used to pay 4 or 10 dollars on I now pay 20 to 43 dollars.  I like the company/people so far, just don't like the insurance.
I have it 2. Pay about $50 for full family coverage.
Yep, all maintenance is paid 100% - major stuff pays very well, too. I really like it, and have had it for years and years.  Nothing exciting, but good basic dental coverage. I like the $1000 a year per kid for braces! Sure helps with 3 in them!!  I think its just the normal probationary period til it starts - 3 months? Honestly don't remember reading anything about waiting a year for braces though.
That's not bad for single, but I really need family coverage.
Anyone know what these companies preminums are like for family coverage.. Thanks.
Single coverage at TH for medical is $52 a mo and add in sm
vision and dental takes it up to around $70, which is the most reasonable I have seen.
Coverage through my DH company for 2 adults and

2 kids is $280.00/mo for medical only, additional $$ for dental, vision, and life insurance for other members besides DH.   Not sure how much company pays, but not much.

Starbucks has the best health coverage -

question about IC and vacation coverage pls sm
I was under the impression that as an IC I am not responsible for finding vacation or sick coverage for accounts; that would be up to the company I am contracted with (no written contract, just verbal but don't flame me it's worked for 4 years now).  What do other ICs do when they want to take time off (a foreign concept, I know I know)? Do you find your own coverage or let the company who has the accounts handle it?  This company has flip flopped so much - at one time we had to have our own coverage, another time we got major slapped for doing so as the accounts were theirs and they would handle coverage, and now seems to be swinging back to find your own or don't take vacay.  TIA.
Probably pay 50% of single coverage and you pay the difference.
xx
I have individual coverage and I pay less than $100 per month. They pay
the rest. I think it's definitely more for family coverage and I am not really sure what those rates are. I would just call and ask them. They're really nice and helpful.
