They stink
They treat you like a kindergartener. The line counter seems to take forever. They put you on a zillion different accounts and then keep asking for help and then you work weekends, holidays. 7.5cents a line. No reimbursement for phones or equipment. They have full time status but it isn't great. They have corny contests where you win nothing. They don't run out of work but most of the work is nasty short reports some of them adding up to zero lines.
DSG does not stink
There are some mighty fine people who work there and I think, overall, they are a fine company to work for.  They handle some very up and up clients, so you can learn, learn, learn while working for them at several teaching hospitals.
They stink.
They also read here. :-) I was paid late, paid wrong and had a horrible shift lead, although I hear she's been fired. I think their pay is also on the low end.
They stink

I worked there for a year. Every thing that has been posted in response to this is true. They have a funky payscale with low pay to start off with.

When I left focus was on training people in Trinidad. Personally, when this was announced it was their downfall. Not so much the fact that this was the direction they were taking, but the way it was presented. They tried to put a humanitarian spin on it and it was a turn off. I believe many people left after this (including the wonderful recruiter who hired me). I hung around for 6 months and waited it out, didn't like what happened so I too jumped ship.

There really are better companies out there. Although the staff was nice, but as many have stated...nice doesn't pay the bills.

Good luck.

Do they all STINK?
Look, I worked for 2 MTSOs, hired by both around Christmas, after leaving an MTSO which highly cheated me line-count wise. Okay, so MTSO #1 bait and switched, ran out of work you name it.  Stuck with MTSO #2 until now. Giving up completely. Great lines at first, then, line counting style changed by said company, now no work ever on anything, and it seems like you all probaly know both companies I am talking about. I am with mtMOM below. I am thinking they all stink. Sorry MTSO owners. But the 2 I speak of I got from high recommendations on this board.  The other companies come with even less reliability so where is one to turn. I've interviewed and got jobs with all of them, and wondering if I need to get out of this biz too. Now, this post, dear moderator is not to stir up trouble. Just one of the many right now posting here who is looking for something midground, at least one honest company which values its workers and keeps its promises. Has this gone away. And please, no golden child type answers to this one. I don't care if you get all the work, what remains to be seen is the work shared equally and lines counted fairly.  I dont want a miracle, just a job which keeps its promises. Are you out there, anyone, anyone? Or is the sound of crickets chirping never to cease? Not rhetorical. Where are you all applying, and what do you all do next, if you are in my similar situation. Thanks for the responses.
Maybe because they stink almost as bad as Focus...NM
.
The insurance does stink...
Most people could probably save money by not getting the insurance and just paying on their own. We actually meet our $1000 deductible in less than 6 months so it is worth it for us. My kids have chronic medical conditions and insurance isn't really a choice but something you just need to have.
I remember the big stink a few months back

and what's her name from TRS got all huffy and said how they were just trying to teach a trade to these poor people so they could earn a decent living, that they weren't taking U.S. jobs away.  I don't know why they thought we were dumb enough that we wouldn't realize that it wouldn't do any good to teach them a trade if there was no way to practice their trade.  I too thought it took a lot of balls to advertise for the overseas person.

There were several companies that were supportive of this, I don't remember all of them, but Cymed was one of them.

The other poster is wrong -- Bayscribe does NOT stink. sm

I was one of those brought in from the stone age, dragging my heels, kicking and screaming, when I had to give up my beloved WP51 a few years ago when they implemented the Bayscribe platform, but in all honesty, it is generally a great platform.  I was a PRD+ user before, and their expander emulates that (I think it can emulate others too, but not sure).  I averaged 300 lines per hour using Bayscribe and never felt that it hindered me.  You just have to get used to learning something new, like any other platform.  Their spellchecker could be better, but that is only a minor irritation.

I wouldn't walk away from a great-paying job with great accounts simply because of fear of adjusting to something new.   I'm sure you'll be very happy if you go with MDI-MD.

Nice person, but docs stink
if it is the same that it used to be the dictation is bad and the sound quality is awful.  I think that it is a rerecording.  This was years ago though.
What you smell is the own vindictive stink of your words.
No, I'm not GP.  Just don't like bullies.  Never did.  Never will.  Which is what you are.  Now, behave or I'll tell your mommie!
Your company might stink, but the ExText is one of the best things out there! Good
s
Ohhhhh, sooooooo true -- Transtech tech people absolutely stink anymore since ____ left. He was the

greatest!  Hated to hear that he had left.  We got some real doozies for tech help now.  The MT ends up training them.  They are clueless as to what to do when we need help.  TRUTH!

They ALWAYS have a BAD attitude in their voice, too -- like we MT's are a bother to them -- thought that is what they get paid for.

my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)

Last year $36K part time, going to make more this year full time BUT sm

I AGREE it IS getting harder to make money.  I used to make $24 very part time 10 years ago and now...well it is Word and platforms versus WP5.1.  I got 7.5 cents a byte line then and I get 9.5 cents a character line now.  That IS a huge different in point of fact.

OH I WANT MY WORDPERFECT 5.1 BACK!!!!! Bwaaah!

Have been with them for over a year...sm
and have no complaints. Pay is always on time and they have direct deposit. I have rarely ran out of work on my main account, but when I do I have a backup account to work on. There are incentives offered often as well. I don't see a high turnover rate...the reason they are hiring new MTs is because they have new accounts. Good luck in your job search!
Been on it for over a year and
still struggling. My lines went from 1,500 to 2,000 a day down to 800 to 1,000 if I am lucky. Still haven't found the courage to quit :(
Yes, they were. This year and I believe one other year. nm

Last year
Last year when I worked there I live in Texas and had BCBS of Tennessee through them since they are located in TN. Just FYI. Good luck!
Well over a year..nm
xx
first year pay
I was lucky to make 15000 the first year.

I am making it now but hard in the beginning.
Wow, a year?

That's great!!  I know of one that is $3000.00! You have a great deal there.

Been with them almost a year
I've been with SPI/Cymed for almost a year (at the beginning of March) and the benefits seem to be okay, but I have never had to use them. When I first started with them last March, it was still just Cymed. I did hear that since they merged with SPI that the benefits were supposed to be less expensive when they go to get them again this year.
No, it's DURING second year (after 1)
nm
From 1 year ago...
Left because of having little to know work.  Seems like they way overhired.  They might do better now as I am seeing more than just clinic work
It's over a year old.
nm
Been with them over 1 year now - sm
as a statutory employee. I would say scheduling is flexible depending on your account and what you and your manager work out. They have been an excellent company to work for and the people there are terrific. If you need support they are right there with you and if you don't they don't bug you and let you run. Their pay is very comparable and always on time. I plan on retiring with this company!
year-old
{Bksp}-year-old
year-old
You would type 41 yo for the expansion to work.
year-old
But I use ESP expander. What I have started to do is build expansions with every age as they come up in reports. For instance if patient is a 41-year-old, I make an expansion of 41yo. I figure I will only have to do it around 105 times at most! If it turns out I have already made that expansion, I then create 41yof or 41yom expansions for female or male patient.
This was from a little over a year ago
so not sure if it's changed, but someone said it was about $75 per month for single coverage (just yourself).  Not sure about the employee plus spouse or family coverage amount.
Nothing this year . Not yet anyway nm
nm
Yes, have been there a year.
They pay based on a 65-character line with spaces included. They pay more than most other nationals and care very much about their employees and treat them very well. They are always looking for ways to improve to make us happy. I have 2 accounts and have never even come close to running out of work on either one, even during the major holidays. I have always made excellent money there. They pay by direct deposit on the 1st and 15th of the month. They have been continuously growing since I first started and have been constantly getting new accounts and expanding the ones that they already have. Hope this helps.
Every year it is where is my W2. They have until
1/31 to mail them.  If I get mine early great, but I don't start looking for it until the first part of February.
You will pay the same but just throughout the year
If you made that much as an employee, you just would not have had as much in your pocket as they would have withheld it for you throughout the year.  As an IC you need to me strick enough to do that or have your husband hold out more to pay for your income.  You will only pay 7.5% more in the social security which you should somehow be able to find enough deductions to make that up.   But again, have your husband with hold your taxes.   You pay the same it is how you pay it.   Pretend you are the employee and withold 20% like they would from your check and put it in a separate account.  Then you have enough to pay your taxes.  Again it is not MORE taxes it is just how you pay the taxes and being able to put that money aside for it.
I have been there about a year
They are nice people to work for and I enjoy my TM.  We have plenty of work and I heard we are starting a very large hospital in a few weeks.  The health insurance is with Aetna and it is a good plan with a low deductable, plus they pay by direct deposit every two weeks.  I came from another company as an IC and always seemed to be chasing a check or two, so having direct deposit is nice.  I would say that as a company I am happy at MedScribe.
I have been there for a year and never got one
I was started at 9 cpl when I started a year ago. I was never told anything about a raise then.
$20,000 last year for PT
I work about 20 hours a week, and I took probably 2 weeks off from work total.
$37K last year, should do about $48K this year if it keeps up. sm

How?  Expanders...normals you build up yourself, and sitting down for long periods of time.

And so you know, I make that on 8.5 to 9.5 cpl depending on the account and which of my jobs I am doing.  I work two PT situations.

Really? A year ago..

It was due to previous owner. Things are quite different now.

I would suggest to post your resume again.

Yes, but only for the first year...

PTO is earned as follows at WMX:

Less than 1 year = 1.077 hours per PP = 3.5 days

1-5 years = 3.077 hous per PP = 10 days

6-12 years = 4.616 hours per PP = 15 days

Over 12 years = 6.154 hours per PP = 20 days

The PTO covers your vacation and sick time.  In addition to your PTO, all full-time employees are given 6 paid holidays, New Year's, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Admittedly, the first year's PTO is horrible and may be the worst in the business, but hopefully that will change before too much longer, especially if they plan to lure new MTs to the company.

A year ago maybe, but not now.

It was that way last year
Yes, they deliberately kept us in the dark.  They knew accounts were leaving, and wouldn't tell us until the day before they left.  They knew we were changing platforms, but wouldn't tell us when.  They'd offer to train on other accounts, then supposedly run into red tape getting you started and we'd go broke waiting for answers.  They never told the truth and they always passed the buck.  The only communications they didn't ignore were their own - when they needed something they felt it was OK to call you 24/7 and get you to come on and type a handful of reports.  Forget working a schedule, there was never any work, you were always supposed to flex, and they'd always try to track you down on your day off so you could type one or two reports out of TAT.  But when you needed something from them...silence, or outright lies.
5,000 a year????? LOL

you are showing your true colors, which is very immature.  I know slang, but I do not use it when I'm conversing with adults.  I have a kid that I am trying to teach not to talk like Britney Spears because you can see where it gets you?  Negative attention.

Furthermore, I have more important things to do like make money.  Please let's not go there with salary, because you'd be blown away honey!  Feel better?  I sure don't; I think you are very immature and I laugh at the likes of you!  I agree it is dog eat dog, and I also think you need to grow up!  Have a great day!  I allow no one to steal my PEACE!

I'm with FN for 1 year...
I can't say I agree with the things you state in your post, as I have never encountered such problems.

Files download just fine for me, iType works fine, QA doesn't bug me...is there even QA/QA feedback? I work at night and have not run out of work or low on work. My supervisor is an absolute doll. When I do have an issue, I send an e-mail or give a call, and my supervisor handles it.

I'm sorry you've had such a negative experience with FN.

I guess it just proves what I feel is a good fit for me, is not necessarily a good fit for you (general you).

Good luck to you.
Yes. it was about a year ago
I think that she was afraid she would be one of those laid off. Maybe it's just me but I would never work for anyone who offshored or partnered with another company who did. To each her own. If people can do it, fine for them, I can't.
It has been over a year, but yes they do pay for
Any questions you have, ask Jan Clay, the recruiter.  She is exceptionally nice in my opinion.  I had to leave due to a death in the family.  She was very kind.
Every year we go through this. They don't have
to be mailed until 1/31.  If you have your last pay stub doesn't matter when W2 go out.
