Any funny/great ideas for couples Halloween costumes?

My 24-year-old DS and his SO have to dress up for a Halloween party.  His older brother and his wife are going as Dog and Beth, and 24YO DS is trying to come up with something even better than that.  Any ideas out there?

Halloween Costumes
My three year old is going as a Unicorn and my 12 year old isn't trick or treating this year, but she's going to take her sister around and share her candy.
THANKS for all the great ideas!
I appreciate your taking the time to share your recipes and post your links.  Bless your hearts!
wow those are great ideas
We are in lonescouts. (I couldn't afford everything to go with wolf/cubscouts to join a pack) but the derby was at church. I will suggest those things. #3 is a great suggestion and would prevent many tears. I don't know if you are familiar with upward sports but that is how upward is. (It's a sports program) Every kid gets a star for something like best offense, best defense, most christ like, best effort, and categories like that.
Thank you again! :)
thanx for all the ideas, they are great!

Thanks for all those great ideas everyone!
Okay people the yeast infection thing was a joke!
Those are great ideas!
I've got to find a battery operated mouse or something. My mom always tells me she's going to buy me one of those robotic vacuum cleaners and I've made her promise not to because I'm afraid my big cat would kill it!
Great ideas!
Thanks for the great ideas! I am going to spend time today looking in the paper for some type of thing to do to help the less fortunate, plus I am going to try to see the light in my children's eyes when they talk about Christmas coming, AND I am going to Walmart for that Peanuts sound track. Guess I am Type-A at even trying to get into the holiday spirit. You know I do believe once I take the focus off of me, me, me and put it on others, well that might just do the trick! Thanks, your responses already cheered this Scrooge up a bit :)
Great ideas below, and here's another (sm)
well, an idea, not sure how great. LOL

If they like trying new foods, or have foods that they like that they won't buy for themselves, you could make a little basket of delicacies for them. Before my in-laws had health problems, we used to buy them those little cakes soaked in liqueur, two or three arranged in a basket and they'd portion that out over a couple months.

My FIL likes spicy stuff so we have bought him various Tabasco-related items, or differing brands of hot sauce.

Last year my son sold scout popcorn and we bought him a big tin of that as a present.

If someone likes to cook, you could get them a set of fresh exotic spices.

Good luck, we're right there in the same boat with you!
All great ideas. Thanks so much. nm

Great ideas! Thanks everyone~
I have thought about some of these before but didn't know if they would be worth the trouble or how to get started. You have provided some great information. I would really like to continue to have the flexibility to be at home but just earn a little extra from time to time.
some great ideas!
I just bought a brick of cheese so that is easy. also have some grapes, celery, carrots, and broccoli so I can make a decent veg tray with that and ranch salad dressing. i might just have to stop and get some crackers but i can get those at a gas station maybe.

Like you said, I am the DIL! lol but I know I'd make her upset if we left early so I better have some food so we can stay. lol
Great ideas! These people would definitely appreciate it! nm
:-)
Just my 2 cents, these are great ideas!
I like the card making especially.
I just knew you all here would have some great ideas! sm

Thank you to everyone who responded.  The poster who suggested a manicure and pedicure had the perfect suggestion because she LOVES getting those.  I never would have thought of that myself because I am not good at ideas for gifts at all.  Yep, I am going with that idea!  Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there!

Love it - great ideas
Sounds like all the things I did growing up in girls scouts. Good to bring them back to memory and do them again.

Be back in a bit, I have to go to the grocery store now! Great ideas. nm

I'm making costumes this year (SM)
My two youngest daughters love to dress up with their costumes after Halloween, but the costumes from the stores fall apart after only a few wearings. I figure if I make them, they'll last at least a few months longer!

I've been sewing quite a bit lately, so all three of my girls wanted to be nurses for H'ween. I had them pick out their scrub shirt material. I picked white for their pants. My oldest daughter (8) picked out Tweety Bird saying "Nurses are Tweet," my middle daughter (4) picked out Bugs Bunny saying "What's up, Doc?" My littlest daughter (2) picked out Dora the Explorer. I'm making them roomy enough so they can layer all kinds of warm stuff underneath their scrubs--Iowa is COLD during Trick or Treating!

I am also buying them cheapo single-head stethoscopes for $5 each. I figure I'll spend about the same amount on the material, pattern, notions, etc., as I will to buying a costume that will fall apart soon after H'ween.

Hubby is asking me for a new fall scrub shirt to wear to work, too, so hopefully I'll get it done too on time.
Great board and a super idea! How about fall decoration ideas?

oh that is funny !! its great to have passion :)

don't like 12-16 couples?....roflmao

It shouldn't matter. Of all the couples I know currently, (sm)
only ONE is same-race. The rest are white/black, black/Pacific Islander, Asian/white, etc. And the only same-race couple I know is gay. So no, it shouldn't matter in the slightest.
SS Class for Married Couples
I don't know if this will help, but our church calls ours the Homebuilders class. You could also just call it the Married Couples Sunday School class LOL or the OB&C class (Old Ball and Chain). Depends on your church's sense of humor I suppose!

CHRISTIAN MARRIED COUPLES
or Partners in Christ; Partners for Christ; Christian Couple Dynamics 2007?

I like to name things. I will be back after I take my "power nap." Hope it works, I have 10 more hours to work!
Actually, I read it was $800 for individuals and $1600 for couples

My son is going as a CIA agent and my daughter is going as a princess (their choice).

Halloween

With October fast approaching I thought I would ask about Halloween costume ideas.  What have your kids been in the past?  Do you make their costumes or buy them?

We try to make ours but sometimes the characters are easier to buy.  Off hand I can think of my favorites...a magician, an alien, a ghost, macaroni and cheese, pop tart.

what are your kids being for halloween?
My kids are too old to go trick-or-treating now, but I'd love to know what your child/children are dressing up as this year.  I always loved the creative home-made costumes even though I always seemd to go out and buy them!
where is the halloween spirit???
The person that I rent my house from made me take down my Halloween decorations... to me that's sad!!! all they were was just a pumpkin door cover, funky caution tape on the porch posts, and 3 tiny inflatable pumpkins on string.  She said the caution tape made people think it was a crime scene, which is resonable if people were that gullible..... baahalloweenbug! To me it is just a holiday that makes kids happy and that is good enough for me.... HAPPY HALLOWEEN MTs!!!
Talking about Halloween, get this
I was listening to a report yesterday about a school that cannot have Halloween theme nor OMG any Christmas theme and now unable to serve anything pork or pork related on the school menu because it might offend others. This is our country but I thought to myself it is becoming others, not ours anymore. This might sound strange but honest to God I thought this, oh well I am up in age and will not be around for years and years to come so I will not have to hear this for as long as I have been on this earth now. If Americans do not stand up, we are slowly losing our country little by little to others. I do not mind immigration but when I see our beliefs, our holidays, our American way falling by the wayside, it makes me sad. We are being put on the backburner because others might be offended? What gives?
Happy Halloween
I am dressed up as a skeleton, but sadly alot of pitbulls out there are skin & bones w/o dressing up abused by their owners, neglected. We pray for all of the pitbull breed. We also pray that people will come to love & understand this wonderful breed of dogs. For those who hate us out of their own ignorance and lack of understanding, we pray for you.
Happy Halloween
Here is our baby girl (CJs mom)... since the costume had wings she tried it out to see if she could fly LOL
Goodwill Stores & Halloween - sm

Wow.... I just got back from a trip to the local Goodwill Store, and boy, am I ever ready for Halloween!  Beginning in October they bring out all their costumes, and costume-worthy, bizarre clothing.  Usually I don't get there 'til it's all picked over, but THIS TIME I went early.  Sometimes I get stuff just for the material, or the trimmings, and other times I'll see a piece and do some "reverse engineering" on it to turn it into something else.  But I don't need to do that this year - everything I found is good to go!

I LOVE Halloween... it's always been my favorite holiday!  Can't wait..!

Sister's halloween costume
My twin sister lives 2000 miles away, so it sure is fun to get pictures. This is her Halloween costume this year, which cracked me up.

We may be twins, but apparently we are not identical, because this costume would look a little different on me. So in my reply I said:

In that picture you(r hair) look(s) just like me (mine)!

sold at Costco, as well as many bulk and dollar stores. please make sure to
check your childrens halloween candy and DO NOT LET THEM EAT THE
PIRATE COINS (you know the ones wrapped in the shiny gold foil) and

Wear Halloween masks? sm
Just kiddin'!

Although my boys are older now and seem to "forget" to bring home school fundraising materials, I do remember those days. There were school fund raisers, band fundraisers and Boy Scout Popcorn to sell. I felt like I needed to wear a Halloween mask sometimes, but what I did was to carefully choose which fundraisers my boys would participate in. We knew that Boy Scout popcorn is sold in October/November, so we would not participate in school/band/other fundraisers during that time. Maybe in the spring of the year we would participate. You might just try giving a donation in place of actually selling if your budget permits. For example, if a child is expected to sell $100 dollars in cookie dough of which the school (or whatever) would retain 1/3, then just donate $33 to the school (or whatever).
I am a Baptist and love to decorate for Halloween.
My husband and his family on the other hand don't like Halloween nor the decorations, since he feels that way, he doesn't help me and my daughter decorate. Whatever. We love decorating so we do it anyway. If they don't like it then don't look. It is just a day to have fun and decorate. Some people need to relax a little and let loose.
This just brings it back to the Halloween talk-
We are NOW allowed as adults to wear masks as in covering our face for Halloween- at least in my section of the country. We might be thieves but others can! Love your post, by the way.

In the spirit of Halloween - favorite scary movie?
I'm too chicken to watch scary movies most of the time!  I though Sixth Sense was good, but I guessed the ending half way through.  Stir of Echoes scared me pretty good.  I thought The Ring was horrible until the very end when I just about peed my pants!  How about you all?
We're having a big fall/Halloween party on Sunday. sm

I need some great ideas to ask guests to bring - Husband and I are providing the main meal but I'm asking some friends and relatives to bring "side" items.  The main dish will be chili dogs. I asked friend to bring a few bags of chips.  Anything else interesting a few people can bring to accompany? Not everyone is bringing something. We do this every year, have hay rides, and it lasts all day. We play games and give out prizes. It's a blast.  A lot of people from our church will be coming.  I'm really not the only one hosting it, but the other hosts need to know what to bring...I can't think of anything interesting besides drinks and chips!

I'm making my famous marshmallow witches again this year and another gal is bringing baby cany apples by scooping out a portion of an apple with a melon thingie and dipping those in caramel. I've never heard of them before but she said they were so cute!  What do you creative women think??I need to let my other hostesses know today some time.  thanks!!

You're so funny!!! That's what I wanted - funny redneck stories
Just kinda tired of my house looking like Sanford and Son - LOL!
That is too funny... I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time.

The original Halloween, the original Exorcist and the first Phantasm...
today's are too computer generated and phony. Not enough scare factor for me!
Funny looking Bob with the funny looking wife

Limbo. Great song, great game. Also,

The girls all line up and walk through a room as if they are modeling on the catwalk. Get a couple of bright colored boa's from the party store. It's a real riot and the kids have a blast especially if a couple of brave boys grab a boa and do it too.  We've had many a birthday party doing this and it was totally hilarious.

Wow!! What a great attitude! I love that - great perspective!
