Spent 2 hours with my kids playing that today - fun! nm

Well I figure I can make my own hours & be home when the kids are home (sm)
I worked PT in an office for a while but spent most of my money on childcare in the summer. Full-time in an office was just a nightmare and I felt like I missed a whole year of my children's lives. I want to be in control of my schedule so that's why I'm looking into the cleaning thing. Never thought I would want to do that but live and learn! Some of the most intelligent people alive work as carpenters and similar things because they have learned what's really important in life. Whew....off my soapbox now :-) Good luck to you!
But thier actual hours are much more than just the hours
jku
Thanks - He actually wants guitar lessons (sm)
I think we are going to have to work on finding other children who are interested in the same things as him. He has many interests, just not team sports or sports involving a ball. He does have some interest in roller hockey though...so I think I will try to encourage that
Suggestion on 2nd guitar
There is a rechargable battery pack that you can get for the black guitar but is NOT available for the white guitar. It's about $14-20 and well worth it! The wireless guitars eat batteries and even run them down when they are powered off and not running. We now remove them from the guitar whenever we aren't playing.
...trying to learn like cooking or guitar, etc.?? nm

They may be Guitar Heros, not the other kind! nm

She is my new hero. sm
Natalie on Winehouse as recorded to People Magazone: "On the seriousness of Winehouse's troubles, Cole – who over the years has battled her own substance-abuse problems, successfully – observes, "I mean, she could die. This isn't something that's cute and fun just to throw around in the press. The girl really has a problem, and I think for those of us who have been in the business long enough, we know the sacrifice it takes. This is about discipline and hard work, and you don't get to just do your drugs and go onstage and get rewarded."

My hero's
1. The military - They volunteer to risk their lives knowing they will be deployed to dangerous regions so that we can be free (although I am prior military I have never considered myself to be a hero back then, but then again we weren't fighting the same enemies. Back then Russia was our biggest enemy - nothing compared to what soldiers go through now).

2. Police & fireman. They too risk their lives everyday for us.

It sure is hard to find honest, trustworthy and honorable people now. Not everyone in the professions I listed above have those qualities you mention, but out of any profession I would say them. Teachers are another profession I would look up to. I don't consider them hero's, but I do find most of them to be honest and trustworthy.
It shouldn't matter. Of all the couples I know currently, (sm)
only ONE is same-race. The rest are white/black, black/Pacific Islander, Asian/white, etc. And the only same-race couple I know is gay. So no, it shouldn't matter in the slightest.
SS Class for Married Couples
I don't know if this will help, but our church calls ours the Homebuilders class. You could also just call it the Married Couples Sunday School class LOL or the OB&C class (Old Ball and Chain). Depends on your church's sense of humor I suppose!

CHRISTIAN MARRIED COUPLES
or Partners in Christ; Partners for Christ; Christian Couple Dynamics 2007?

I like to name things. I will be back after I take my "power nap." Hope it works, I have 10 more hours to work!
Thanks you are my hero. I am new at this - only 30 years or so LOL
Some day I will actually get it.

A dog came out of nowhere and stopped a knife-wielding robber from accosting a mother and her young son on Monday afternoon. (Pet Pulse Illustration by Tim Mattson)
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- The wandering 65-pound Pit Bull mix might have seemed menacing to some passerby, but one woman will always remember him as her "guardian angel."

The dog, which authorities think is lost and not a stray, successfully thwarted a robbery attack on a mother and her 2-year-old son, who were held at knifepoint Monday afternoon.

The Florida woman, who has been identified by authorities simply as "Angela," was leaving a playground with her toddler son in Port Charlotte when a man approached her in the parking lot with a knife and told her not to make any noise or sudden movements.

Angela didn't have to do either to protect herself and her child -- a dog mysteriously ran to the scene and charged the man, who quickly fled.

"I don't think the dog physically attacked the man, but he went at him and was showing signs of aggression, just baring his teeth and growling and barking. It was clear he was trying to defend this woman," Animal Control Lt. Brian Jones told Pet Pulse.

"I don't know what this man's intentions were, but it is very possible this dog saved her life."

The exceptional part of the story, Jones said, is that the dog had never met or even seen the people it quickly jumped to defend.

"You hear about family dogs protecting their owners, but this dog had nothing to do with this woman or her kid," Jones said. "He was like her guardian angel."

After the alleged thief ran away, Angela quickly placed her son, Jordan, in the car and tried to drive off. Before she could, though, the dog jumped into her backseat, waiting with her for the police and animal control officers to arrive at the scene.

The dog was transported to a local shelter and if his owners don't step forward within five days, Jones said, Angela and her family plan to adopt the savior she named "Angel."

Animal control officers and shelter workers believe Angel is lost, and not a stray, because of his good health, sturdy weight and mild temperament.

"It's funny, that someone's irresponsibility could have saved someone's life," Jones said of Angel's possible owners.

For Angela, it doesn't matter where the dog came from, just that he was there when she needed him most.

"I don't know what his [the thief's] intentions were -- I don't know why he did it, but I'm glad that -- we call him Angel -- I'm glad that Angel showed up because I don't know what would have happened," Angela told NBC2 News.

For a small town with a population of 46,452, animal control officers were kept busy Monday afternoon. Jones says they department also responded to a report about a boa constrictor in a church parking lot.

The snake found its way into a car engine and was able to be removed without being harmed. It took three people to move the massive, seemingly random placed snake.

"It's funny, because we aren't a big place," he said of the Gulf Coast town. "And we can go for four or five months without the media contacting us about a story. It's been a busy week."

Officers from the responding county sheriff's office canvased the area and were unable to locate the suspect described as being in his 20s, tall and dark haired.

He says if you have cards you have paid off or no longer use, you need to call and write the credit card company and let them know that you want the account closed. And that you need to keep checking with those institutions to make sure they have actually done what you asked them to do. IMO, I would do the same thing..cancel them completely and then cut them up to boot. Hope this helps.

Any funny/great ideas for couples Halloween costumes?
My 24-year-old DS and his SO have to dress up for a Halloween party.  His older brother and his wife are going as Dog and Beth, and 24YO DS is trying to come up with something even better than that.  Any ideas out there?
First, that's a lot of hours!! (sm)
That's probably a big part of your problem is that you are working so many hours. But I have a great chair that I bought about 8 years ago when I was having shoulder pain from transcribing. I searched until I found one where the arms would raise up high enough so that I could rest my elbows on the chair arms while I work and that supported my shoulders.
I need about 10 hours!!!
LOL.
Really though, I don't feel all there if I don't get 7-8 hours of sleep, but maybe that is because I am accustomed to it, but also that "8 hours" is interrupted by being awoken by the man in my bed that breathes too loud! (i now sleep with ear plugs), plus I have to get up and pee like twice a night...

You raise an interesting point if you can gradually get used to sleeping less... think of all the things I could get done! But it never fails, I have been going to bed around 11, waking up around 6 (interrupted during the night) and without fail I get sooooo sleepy at about 1-2 p.m. Could that be because I have to sit and stare and type all day??
Dont know but I like this post!
I'm tired now :)

Does he realize how much it means to you that he and you spend Thanksgiving together?  I would pull out all the stops here.  Tell him it is just for a few hours, can he not put up with them for a few hours out of an entire year?  He might also like some reassurance you are not going to let your sister cuss him out again and get away with it (if that is what happened last time).  I really would emphasize how much you want him to go to be with you if nothing else.  Then if all else fails, yes I am saying this, use the crying card.  I am pulling for you!!!
About three hours ago!!! sm

I was walking down the hallway here at the hospital where I work.  It is linoleum flooring and I have pumps on.  I was heading down to the radiology department to talk to the doc about something and probably going a little too fast.  I was turning the corner in the hallway and my heel just slipped right out from underneath my feet!  I was mortified.  But, you know what makes the story even better?...today is laundry day and all I had to wear to work today was a DRESS!!!!!!.  So, I'm sitting on my rump in the middle of a busy hospital hallway trying to cover up my tush before the ENTIRE hospital saw it.

So, in conclusion I guess you could say that:

1.  I will not be wearing a skirt or dress again to work any time soon.

and

2.  I probably need to slow down on the corners!!!

Just got back from HOURS in the ER.
I don't understand why ER visits take so long. There were only two of us in there and we came in together. I was there for 3 1/2 hours.

Anyhoo, after my doctor stopped laughing, I was diagnosed with a flu-like viral illness, second degree ankle sprain, an award winning black eye and dehydration. I do normally have lower blood pressure around 100-110/49-70 and it was about 98/49 when he first saw me. He thinks I was just super talented and passed out from the stomach pain/nausea and sitting on the pot. I have an Aircast to wear for the next few weeks and told to just take it easy. He was more concerned about the chronic nausea I've had since my gallbladder surgery last year, but I think my body just misses all that lovely bile it produced.

So for now I'm pushing fluids and taking it easy.
Or maybe they could wait a few hours
before coming to the board where they very well know the east coasters want to be talking about it.
Yes, but after work hours is the same (nm)

P.S. - I was lucky, only out about 26 hours

It's within a few hours of Las Vegas I believe
and 35 years ago when I lived in Vegas - Pahrump was a very, very small town - probably just a dot on the map - maybe not even a stop light - think I heard recently on some travel show that it had grown - but then again most all Nevada towns lately have.

4 hours of commuting
Sorry, but I think you are being a wee bit selfish. Your husband is commuting 4 hours a day, 20 hours a week. That is like having a part time job. But you don't want him gone a few nights a week because you will miss him? Give the guy a break. It is only for a few months. Like they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Okay, I'll do two hours
So the tougher the cuts the less time you marinate?
I would be happy with 6 hours a day...sm
Be glad you have work which I am sure you are. I know I need to look for another job. But it isn't easy in these times.
Calcium - take 2-4 every few hours. nm
nm
Actually, the first visit was 4 hours.
The next two were 2 hours each, if that matters.
Long Hours
I think you need to send your kids to your parents house for a overnight visit and have a long talk with your husband. A marriage is a two-way street, you may have run up the credit cards but he is the one getting laid off. True it is through no fault of his own but for him to put it all off on you and declare himself retired at 50 with two young children to raise leaving the burden of all the bills up to you is just plain wrong. Excuse me for saying this but you sound like you are afraid to approch him to talk about this, is there another reason that you are afraid to talk to him about it, besides the usual...I don't want to start a fight? How convenient for him, you keep your mouth shut, work even harder than you do now, support the family and he will watch TV while you do it. That just isn't how a marriage is supposed to work and is that what you want your kids to see as an example, the bottom falls out and Dad reacts by shutting down and watching TV?
Approximately 2 hours or so
I agree with the above poster. It's usually a ratio of 4 hours typing for 1 hour of dictation. It does vary, though for each individual.

In VA about 2 hours from the coast, after the last hurricane - sm
in 2003 (also due to 9-11 though) ours jumped from $400 to 650; which compared to those of you in FL is nothing obviously but at the time it seemed quite large. Our car insurance is still quite low though about $400 a year for each of our 2 trucks.
Had to leave mine outside for a few hours
I kept wondering why sellers on ebay would put 'from a smoke-free home' on their ads. I eventually found out why! The smoke smell from the book was driving my cats crazy so I finally put it on the table on the porch outside and let it air out for a few hours.
But they can say I need xx reports/lines in 24 hours.

My mom is 8 hours away - but they happily stay with her (sm)
When I go visit my family, my kids stay with my mother while I go and visit other friends, etc. The difference might be that they have cousins there to play with and my mother jokes and plays with them and is affectionate. In-laws are not that way. No kids around my in-laws. I really don't know exactly why they think it is so horrible. I have asked them. They just say that they are bored, grandma is strict, she won't make any adaptations to things she cooks and makes them eat whatever she makes, she takes them to all-adult functions and makes them sit through things. They also have a farm and sometimes make the kids work very hard digging potatoes or whatever they are doing at the time.
