I thought Nick would walk in - guess we have to wait

My sister-in-law and I walk together several times a week. We don't walk on a flat surface
we walk around a park that is constantly up and down so we get a better work-out and it is much more enjoyable to have someone to walk with. I have also joined Curves and really enjoy that.
Mom's memorial

You are not crazy. You are very sweet and a testament to your mom. She raised a really good daughter. May I suggest planting a beautiful tree in her honor and memory in your yard? Put a cute little bench by the tree. Make it a beautiful memorial to the memories of your mom. Place fresh flowers by it for special occasions or when you are just thinking of her. Go out there and "talk" to her. Your mom is in your genes ... your soul. She is a part of you honey, forever. She is undoubtedly very proud of you. She lives on in you ... remember that.

Yep. Just walk away. Nod a lot, and walk away even if they are in midsentence.
I even do this with my family if they start up. And when I start up myself (in my own mind) I distract myself and get onto doing something completely different. Some people thrive on negativity. I have enough problems getting my mind positive. Life is way too short to dwell on negativity. Just walk away and go smell a rose somewhere. Just my advice. :)
Hope I can get through the memorial without (sm)
slapping Nicki across the face!!  LOL
Memorial Day weekend

So what fun things do you guys have planned for the long weekend?

I have to work.

Definitely understand that - you shouldn't have to have your property be forever a memorial! (sm)
you were VERY kind to leave it there and take care of it for six months. So ridiculous that people gave you a hard time. I'm sorry that happened to you! Bad enough that you have to know something so awful happened in front of your home without a constant reminder and strangers coming up to your house all the time. And it is not your job to maintain it for them. If the family understood, then certainly no one else should have any say whatsoever.

see link below....

i made a memorial site for my mom for my sister and my grandmother a few years ago. sm
neither were cremated, but mom wanted a memorial. we took a spot in her back yard and made a rose garden out of it. we planted several rose bushes. i got some of those make your own stones from hobby lobby. it is like cement that you pour into the mold. i then wrote in the cement before it dried their names at the bottom and in loving memory of at the top. decorated the stones up with some heart gems. these are in the middle of the rose flower bed. we also got her a covered canopy bench to sit next to it. everyone in the family loves to go there. just FYI there is a rose that is a red and white mixture rose that is called the love rose and this is the very center of our "memorial". i can't recall the name and it was very hard to locate. this was several years ago and the roses are growing pretty than ever.
It may take a while for Nick to return
they wrote his death in becasue they couldn't agree on contract terms. He almost left the show. They write the show sometims weeks to months in advance so it will probably be a few weeks or more before he is back on screen. BTW, I love Phyllis with Nick. When Victoria first came back to Genoa City she saw JT at the hospital (when Brittany's baby was about to be kidnapped) and her face lit up like and Christmas tree when she said his name. I immediatly thought those 2 would be great together.
Nick and Phyllis
Now this is something to talk about. Love that show. Oddly enough I think Nick and Phyllis belong together. They make a great couple. Sharon does well with Jack. I really think Jack is trying to be a better person. Can't stand Nikki.. and starting to dislike Victor.. Turning kind of mean and nasty, more so than the old Victor.
Nick the hairdresser on
What Not To Wear has curly hair. He has lots of tips when somebody with curly hair is on. He uses certain products afterward to let it curl, but smoothly and in an organized fashion.

With the wide-toothed comb, look for one where the teeth are rounded or even sort of squared off (in a rounded sort of way). That makes it more comfy when you get close to the scalp.

I do have one area at the nape of my neck where my fine hair tangles terribly.
Y&R Fans -- Nick is alive! :0)
Wonder what the story line will be now?  I was hopeful that they didn't kill him off for real.
I love Phyllis and Nick together.
I like the storyline cause you have to mix it up somehow, but I hate that he had to relive the death of Cassie. He did some really good acting.
Love Phyllis and Nick together (sm)
can't stand the way Nicki is treating P either, and yes, she was nasty to Sharon too.  See, soaps can teach us a life lesson.  I would never DREAM of treating my sons' wives like that (even the one I wouldn't have chosen - LOL)  I always treat them with respect.
Like you, I loved Nick Norman
or whatever his name is. I think he shot some pelvic thrusts towards Simon last night, not caught well on camera but sorta. The audience loves him as well. I think he would be great in a satire, broadway kind of show and I hope should he leave he finds something like that. Great entertainment out of him but not so much as what I want out of a singer Idol. The red haired girl had the Angeline Jolie lips going on and I thought very attractive but most just let me down as far as the singing goes.
Booted: Leslie, Aliana, A.J., and Nick nm

No, NIck has not appeared, no clue what will happen there. sm
Jill is planning to go with Jimin (sp) on his trip, Catherine is totally against it, she does not trust Jimin since he is associated with Jack's business. Victoria and Brad have made amends, vowing to never cheat on each other again. Sharon is questioning Jack's integrity and his trust of her. JT was missing his PDA and found it at Crimson Lights only after Kevin had retieved information from it for Colleen (she thinks he exposed her relationship with Corbel), not sure what he got though. That's all I remember.

Do you know that Y&R comes on at 10/11 p.m. on Soapnet? Until last week you could have seen it at 5/6 p.m. as well, but they hae changed the TV schedule...
My little pooch also loves fresh tomatoes. I nick them to

Can anyone walk me through this?
I just got an ipod today and cannot get songs to download.  I purchased some songs, and they are downloaded onto my computer, but I can't seem to get them onto my ipod.  Could someone please walk me through step-by-step to do this?  When I click on file, then copy to device, it tells me no device is detected, even though I have the connection to the computer and to the ipod.  Help, please!!
That's exactly why I won't walk our dog

My husband and I have a golden retriever/lab mix.  I am not an animal lover but do have compassion for animals.  My husband is the animal lover.  If my husband is out of town on business, I will not walk the dog.  Just the smell of dog doo makes me gag and vomit.  I will, however, let the dog loose in our yard and watch her to make sure she stays in our yard while she exercises, but I will not walk her because I wouldn't be able to clean up any messes.

As for fines, I would imagine there is some sort of punishment in our small town and I think there should be across the board.  Our dog is trained to do her business in 1 area of the yard that my husband picks up weekly before mowing the grass.  If I find doo anywhere else in my yard, I am not happy.  We have 3 kids who like to run and play and know to stay out of the dog's area.  Having to clean off their shoes because someone else was lazy with their dog infuriates me.

Way to go NY!!!!! Hope it comes to my hometown soon!

thank YOU for your service!
No matter what branch, age, sex, etc., the entire military has my utmost respect.  I only hope they know how many of us get a lump in our throats whenever we thank them on the street OR watching something as moving as this.  I know I'll never forget!
met in the service
Met in the service overseas. Dated a short while then went to Denmark to get married. Lots of soldiers were getting married this way. In Denmark there were 8 other military couples with us getting married. DH and I knew each other not very long. It's been 32 years this year.
I do not tip if it is self-service.

You mean own your own MT service?
If so, yes, there is a book. My friend has it. I will have to get the name of it from her.
i try to walk more than a mile a day

How much did you walk? Every day? How many miles - sm
I have 60-80 to lose (80 pound weight loss being my HS/college weight) and cannot exercise right now except for walking (hurt my arm/shoulder). Since I cannot go to Curves right now until my shoulder is diagnosed and healed (will know the verdict Friday) I plan on getting into a walking plan right now since the weather has finally turned beautiful and am going to try to walk off at least 20 pounds before my OB/GYN appt in 5 weeks. Since you had so much success in 6 weeks of walking, I'd love to know the how much and how often you walked. TIA.
I walk to her videos too!

I have this one where they sing this "power walk" mantra in the background when it starts out.  Then I have that song in my head the whole day!  I think I'll just plug in my little MP3 player instead and find tunes that match the different paces, because although I enjoy the video immensely, that "music" has just gotta go!  Oh, if you walk to her videos where she uses something called a "stretchy band," I found a 3-pack in varying resistance strengths at Walmart for $5.00.  Total deal.

my guess is they take you for a walk!!
what a handful! But cute!
WALK THOSE BEAUTIES! LOL! nm

I appreciate your time,

Tanya

get out of the house and go for a walk
or a bike ride or a picnic. Sometimes I go outside and talk on the phone or watch my kids play. The point is to get out of the house and be outside.
They can refuse service to anyone at will.
Even Wal-Mart can throw you out for any reason they want.

I'm glad he did it. I went to Jeff Ruby's Louisville website and sent him a support e-mail!

Thank goodness business owners can still decide WHO they want to serve and do business with!!!!

My vet has a service that provided sm
the transportation to the cremation facility, which is about 2 hours away and the remains were mailed back to the office and I picked up the pretty little tin when my 14-year-old Cocker died 2 years ago. She is now in my curio cabinet with her picture so I don't forget her. She had to be put down as well, very, very severe stroke and was not coming out of the seizure she has having. I didn't have any problem making the decision. I couldn't stand watching her suffer so. It cost about 200.00 to have her cremated but I didn't want to bury her in my yard. Too many wild critters running around that like to dig.
We met in the service in Germany
I was stationed in Germany and about a year later he was assigned to my unit. He was very very handsome and very mysterious. We didn't date (or even really speak much of maybe 5 words to each other) until end of June of 82 and July 15 we took a train to Denmark and got married. Shocked the you know what out of our families. This July is our 26th Anniversary.
Believe it or not a Dating Service
I was sick of meeting losers so I decided to take the chance. We were engaged after three months and married nine months later and will be married for 17 years in September. The first time he introduced me to his friends a week or so later, they told him we were going to get married.
our service is almost never interrupted

Dating Service
I was tired of not being able to meet anyone. I actually got matched with a lot of great guys, but no one struck me as "the one" until I met my now husband. We talked for about 5 hours at the restaurant our first date and saw each other every day after that. We were engaged after a month and got married a year later. Now almost 18 years late we have to great daughters 15 and 5.
Met through a dating service
I was sick of not being able to find anyone decent. I say it was fate, because he said he hated answering machines so when he called me the first time, and I wasn't home, he could have said forget it, but he decided to give me one more call and I was home that time. If he gave up the first time I never would have met him. We dated for one month, got engaged and married a year later. It will be 18 years this September.
How about diaper service?

Depending on how much you want to spend, you can buy as much time as you want.  My sister got 6 months worth as a shower gift and absolutely loved it!  The company initially set her up with a santized odor-less container to put the soiled one in and more than enough to last for a week, then they pick up the dirty ones and leave clean ones once a week.  It saves money for the new parents and is good for the environment too, no diapers in landfills.

Your choice is to walk through the smoke.

People are made to smoke outside the store, can't smoke inside.  Smoking is not against the law.  I think people with body odor/bad breath smell way worse than people smoking.

don't have a *choice* to walk through smoke--sm
if you want to get out of or into the store. If someone HAS to smoke...go to your own car where it does not infringe upon someone else's right to not have to breathe it in and contract lung cancer. Body odor and bad breath do not inflict death and are easily taken care of with personal hygiene. Second hand smoke is just plain inconsiderate of others' health, but then why would you care about that. right?
you are not a pain....you need to go to walk-in clinic

Sunday walk in the park
DH and I were walking the dogs in a small park yesterday and a reddish bird swooped in front of us. It was the same color as a thrasher, but since he landed on a nearby tree limb I stopped to check. It was a tiny owl. Apparently an Eastern screech owl. They are common yet rarely noticed, so we thought it was really neat. The dogs never reacted to him at all, and the owl seemed as curious about us as we were about him. Our faces were maybe 4 feet from him.
Do you have any walk-in clinics instead of the ER? SO much quicker to be seen. Is
s
I have been known to jog/walk in place during a TV show.
I'm cheap. The kids stay out of exercise equipment that way too.

Jump ropes rock too.
Just go into one of their stores, cancel and walk out...

why let ANYONE intimidate you?

wherever customer service is deplorable!...nm

I know 1 thing about the telephone service
my aunt and I both have supposedly the lowest priced land phone through Bellsouth or now bought out by AT&The. I have to have a cell phone because if not then I cannot get my DSL through them although I have cell phone. She lives in a state adjoining mine and her price for cell phone (we are not talking about long distance now) is a ridiculous say $12 a month and yet mine runs a little over $40 a month. I wish someone from the company could explain this 1 to me.
Don't bother with a cleaning service...
Save your money. We had a cleaning service twice a month for a year, and the day they cleaned the house, it looked wonderful, but the day after...yikes! Like it never happened. We have 3 kids and 2 dogs, and it's honestly like shoveling in a snow storm! So my husband and I took the job back and do our own cleaning. We teach the kids to clean their rooms, otherwise it won't get vacuumed. I clean the 3 bathrooms on my day off, which really doesn't take too much time if I spot clean in between. We just keep after the kids to pick up after themselves. I always have a to do list in my head for myself every weekend and feel good when I actually get them done! I know that's strange, but I do:-) Just take one day at a time, think about what you really want taken care of, and it'll get done. Don't sweat it, but I wouldn't throw money at a service to do it. Your husband has to work as a team with you. If he likes organization so much, then he can handle that part of the duties. I never grocery shop or really cook...so my husband took that over from the beginning. We chose the things we like to do and then get them done. Who cares who does them? Good luck!
I have a cleaning service and I love it

She comes in every two weeks. Of course, most of the time it is just my husband and me, with my son home from college on holidays and vacations. And we are pretty much neatniks - I just can't do the "heavy" cleaning (bathroom, floors, etc.) because of my back, and I don't want my husband spending his weekends cleaning.

Before you bring anyone in, though, it would be a good idea to sit down with everyone and discuss how you are going to handle things in between maid visits. The kids need to learn to carry their dirty dishes to the sink (and put a little water on them to soak off any food residue - my pet peeve!). You need to make sure that everyone has their own laundry hamper and make it a rule that dirty clothes must go in there immediately - no throwing them on the floor until "later." Make sure that the kids have adequate storage for their toys and clothes, with a place for everything.

And everybody needs to follow the "one-in-one-out" rule - if you buy something new, whether it's clothes, toys, or whatever, then something comparable has to go in the "donate" bin (or trash, depending on condition) and be taken out of the house.

If your family can learn to follow these rules and you have someone come in once a week or every two weeks for the heavy cleaning, I can guarantee things will run a lot more smoothly.

Good luck!
