If the father is only 1/2 black and mother white...sm
then of course the child is not going to have a lot of black features with only 1/4 black heritage. Not like a child with 1/2 black heritage. These children of MJ's are supposed to be 1/2 black. They do not look like they have any black features. I have always believed they weren't biologically his. They doesn't make them any less his children, but to tell the truth I never really bought into the fact that his children could be that white. First of all, he did not want to be black himself I don't think. Why else would he lighten his skin to the extent he did? Also he never married a black woman. He preferred white both times he married. It just screams out that he wasn't comfortable with his race.
The father has as much rights as the mother to make decisions....sm
about the child, gifts, etc. I know you want what is best for the child but it's really between your daughter and ex-son-in-law to discuss this. Even if your daughter doesn't want this, there's nothing she can do about it other than educate the child about how much candy to eat at once is appropriate.

The way I see it (and lived it) the biological parent
needs to step up to the plate and handle things. I'm sure of the woman who started this post had a husband that backed her up, she wouldn't be nearly as upset. I'VE LIVED/AM LIVING THROUGH THIS and my stepchild live with us 100% of the time (husband had custody). Sweet and first but things turned sour quickly. And guess what? My husband did very little in terms of taking care of his son, forcing him to be accountable for his behavior, etc. In turn, I ended up being the heavy and HATED for it (still am, and he's an adult now).

I was very young when I married my husband and didn't know what I was in for, just as the OP. You think, how can this sweet child be anything but good? You honestly have no idea what you're getting yourself into. Especially when other people will tell you that they CAN make step-families work. I think they work when/if the biological parent is firm with the child and sets the boundaries for that child, and the stepparent doesn't have to.

It's so difficult. I really feel for the orig poster.
the only thing is.. even if they aren't his biological children,
he still treated them as his own.. you don't always have to be blood kin to feel like its your own.... if they love those kids like their own, then why bother testing.. other than the mothers trying to get money, but I'm sure he would have left them money or something anyway..
Have to agree that the biological parents are not always the best solution. But we were just discus
MTs working at home with their children. I meant to imply that I certainly didn't think it was neglect or abuse for mom to have a set of headphones in her ears.

Sorry you had a bad experience with a CASA volunteer. But afterall they are all people too and the primary intent of the children's justice system is reunification with parents if possible. Sounds like they were probably just lacking enough evidence/proof to terminate parental rights at that time.

You need a biological odor killer. Found in better hardware stores. Have no
Names are something along those lines, but make sure it has the word biological in it. If you can wash the blanket, put some in the wash water. If it's not washable, then just spray it for a few days in a row while hung up. I got rid of smoke odor in a couch using this stuff. It really works! Fabreze and other name brand odor eaters are not enough to do a complete job. The stuff is pricey, but worth it. Gets rid of skunk, mold smells, vomit, all kinds of funk! You can probably search for these products on line and then see if your local hardware stores or cleaning supply places have them locally. Good luck! nm

I was actually out putting trash out when
the police car got there. The neighbors, as I said before were not home at the time. The officer asked if I was the caller and when we were talking about the problem the neighbors pulled up. I was not about to wimp out and act like it was a big surprise that the police were there. I confronted the issue and was not two-faced about it. Since I worte this morning I found out that this guy went to the neighbors and complained about me and asked if they had any problems with his dogs barking. Each and every one stood up for me 100%.  What I don't understand is why he didn't apologize to me after driving me crazy for so long instead of being rude and acting like a two-year-old. The police agreed and told him so. Also, as I stated before I was not sad about the neighbor. I was sad about the dogs. Their barking was not their fault. They need supervison and the neighbor needs to know that each of us in a neighborhood needs to be mindful of others. I am glad I did what I did now.
You might be right about Him not making trash.
Seems like she has done a good enough job by herself, oh, and her mother right along there. I have said for sometime she was really sick, desperately needing help, needing the attention or else she would not be putting herself in situations such as showing her behind - you nor I have made her do these things- she does these on her own. If her face plastered everywhere, again did you or I do that? Don't think so. She has needed psychiatric help for ages. The part where she cut off her head was a very telling point, same as self abuse. Anyone who has typed psychiatric work before knows about this. Same as multilating yourself and there is another celeb out there who does this, initials LL. This make get taken off the board, I hope not because is truthful. She has been crashing for some time. I wondered when the kids were going to be taken completely out of her care. This should have been done a long time ago for their safety, only supervised visits. Well, guess someone finally saw clear on that. After this required 72 hours of hospitalization she will make the choice to leave, I am sure and it will be a shame. She loves the limelight, though. She is really pitiful.
Why watch that trash...Whoppi
is the low-fat version of Rosie...they pretty much have the same politics but Whoppi is a bit toned down, has a bit more sense and does not let most of the left-wing loons tell her what to say. The show and its hosts are vapid and a waste of time.
Please don't use the term "trailer trash" (sm)
It offends me...children have no choice but to grow up where their parents raise them and many good decent people live in trailers. I grew up living in poor areas, part of the time in trailers. I was a good kid, good grades, tried hard to be a good person but got made fun of a lot and called "trailer trash" or "white trash". It is very unfair to group people all together in a big clump and stereotype them like that. I overcame the way I grew up, but to this day, if I decide I want to move into a trailer, I sure will.
I agree and besides now they are mansion trash ! LOL

I love keeping out trash
like the person described above next door to her, love that have not seen 1 home here that is boarded up and reposssed, love that animals are not allowed to roam all over the place, love no cars sitting on blocks and junking up the neighborhood, love my neighbors are friendly, quiet and don’t have beer parties at all hours of the night, love the beautiful landscaping of our yards- in all just love being here in my little section of heaven.
Better rules than to live in trash city
I live to live a little better upscale life than that. It is my hubby, me and the furries and that is so good for me. No kids running thru the yard, no knock down, dragouts. Living in the country or city does not guarantee you good neighbors. Trying to sell 6+ acres of lake front (not where I live nor have I ever lived there) but in the country and those people on each side the neighbors from hades. They wanted to buy from me and I would not sell to them but that is in the country and ??? If you call making sure your kids nor animals don't roam and no beer battles, neighbors with their loud, obxious music and shaking my home a problem, not for us. We absolutely love it and by the way, the cost of these homes really keeps that rift-raft out, thank goodness! You pay for what you get.

Britney = trailer park trash.........no message

Beach/road trash pickup, help neighbors
with yard work, or help little old ladies do things around the house. Not sure what things you've tried that require them to be 14, but there's always animal shelters and teaching little kids to read. I'm not sure if you need approval, but they could help collect canned goods or toys for the Salvation Army or other charities.
All forwards I put in the trash folder immediately even if I know the person.
People get mad at me for never responding, but I get annoyed when people who call me their friends send me 50 of these a day. It reminds me of telemarketing or junk mail only sent by friends! The only thing I ever do to family or close friends, is if I see an article in the paper, or on MSN, I e mail a link to the article. I do this like twice a year that's it. I had one friend actually never speak to me again, because she would send tons of these forwards and I'd never answer. She got extremely annoyed with me. Oh, well, I recently deleted my junk folder and it feels good. LOL.
My dog just ate a piece of...
Broccoli!!!!! My last dog wouldn't eat that. She likes things like bananas too. Does your dog eat funny stuff?

Then go to her and tell her, say your piece but be nice - sm
about it. She will no doubt get defensive, so unless you want a permanent rift you (unfornately) have to be careful in how you phrase your complaint of her being totally nasty, rude and tactless herself. Just explain to her that her little digs hurt your feelings and you are only trying to help her out as you care for her, etc. Tell her if she continues to make the cutting comments about her perceived inability to help her out now and then that you will just have to stop helping her and limit your time with her as she is making you feel like dirt and killing your self-esteem. Maybe that will get her to knock it off, if it does not, then just cut her out, no one needs that kind of garbage in their life and let her be bitter and alone and nasty to herself.
I just saw a funny piece on (sm)
"Best of Craigslist."

Somebody advertised that they would pay somebody to come and clean their refrigerator and then described the problem, which was one specific spill that was growing new life forms or something. It was hilarious.
okay, just one more piece of advice
Hey Emily Ayn - I've seen your posts on this board so many times its almost like talking to a friend - okay, an invisble friend because I can't see you, but at least you answer me back :-) Anyway...this is the only piece of advice I would offer you, and a couple of my thoughts. (P.S. - I hope you didn't think I was shouting at you, I didn't mean the no, no, no to come off as shouting, it was more of an Oh my gosh, no). Anyway...if I was facing the same situation, this is what I would do.

I would most defintely get the address and name of the people. I would then take that with the ad to the local police and ask if there is anything illegal that has happened at this address and show them the ad. They should then be able to tell you at least that this couple is not wanted by the law or has done anything that you would need to know about. Everything could be very innocent and legite, but that would be the only way to really be sure.

As for their ages, I would come out and say to them (again if this is me) I would say.

"I noticed your ad asked for my picture, and I have never heard of that before and just wondered why you wanted a picture of me". I'm not sure if asking their ages would mean anything because "weirdo's" (if they are weirdos) come in all ages. If they have any sense at all they will understand your concerns, and if they get offended that would send up a signal. Most defintely though the only thing I would do before hand is check it out with the police to make sure they are not wanted for anything.

By your posts I know you are a smart person and if you've dispatched for 911 you've heard a lot come your way.

Just wish you all the best and hope things work out for you. I understand totally about needing to feel safe. If you do this please let us know how it goes.

Take care, be safe, and as they say on X-Files "Trust No-one". (That's a saying my DH lives by).

Had mine at 29. It was a piece of cake. (sm)
Had the surgery at 7:30 AM.  Home by 12 PM.  Doing laundry by 12:30.  No pain.  No complications whatsoever.  43 now and no menstrual comps.
I would try to find a piece of carpet
somewhere in your house - closet, etc., and have  cut out the area and install the other piece - it will stick out like a sore thumb for a while as it is not worn - but eventually will look fine.  You might even be able to find a carpet installer to help you with this
I had a tubal/ piece of cake sm
My husband is a big baby. I was working full time at an insurance company. I had my surgery the day after Thanksgiving. I was home by 10 AM feeding the baby (not my husband) in the high chair because my husband had to run to the store for stuff we needed. Not a big deal. Didn't hurt, woke up from anesthesia quickly.
painful at first but wedge a piece of cotton
from a cotton ball underneath the corner - sometimes numbing with some topical agent like neosporin plus helps a little.  I cut mine too short because walking in tennies aggravate me and this happens.  Works pretty well - wedge it under with a tweezer.
Ah, the Dalkon Shield. Truly a nasty piece of work! LOL..nm

Try reaching for a stick of gum or a piece of hard candy.
The doctor I work for prescribes Chantix and it has been very successful for many patients.

When puppy does her business where you want her to, reward her with a piece of food treat.
And when she pees in house, use paper towels and then place paper towels (soiled) to the area in the yard where you want her to do her business. Dogs tend to prefer where they smell the odor. Be patient. This dog is young. Confine her to an area where the floor will not be damage (tile or vinyl). Take her out six times away, including first thing in AM, right before bed, after she eats her meals. Pull water up a few hours before bedtime. Do enjoy your new puppy dog.
My friend has you beat... she paid $35,000 for a small piece of land
and a home 30 years ago; she just sold it for $375,000, clear profit; she and her DH paid it off last year and now are reaping the benefits.
It's only a teeny weeny piece of skin, for heaven's sake, get real! nm
nm
Its not a little piece of skin - read up on it. It plays a lot of important functions. Google it.
You just need to look around for some FACTS about the foreskin. It protects the glans, keeps the glans sensitive, plays a role in sexual activity, enhances the sexual experience for men, should I go on......Why don't you just read up on it?
Whatever my mother-in-law and mother are cooking--lol
we go to my in-laws for Christmas Eve and usually have ham and kielbasa (we are Polish) and then my mom usually has turkey or roasted chicken on Christmas Day
I agree - a mother is a mother and a daughter is a daughter for life sm
despite the problems they had, which i truly believe stem for anna's drug problems. obviously her mom wasn't too bad or she would not have raised daniel for a while. i think the mother wants her buried in Texas so the grave will be close enough that she can go visit it without having to come up with expenses of going to the bahamas to get there. although i contradict that too in poor anna needs to be buried with her son.
Buy a home of my own - not a palace, but more of a smallish home on a large piece of land. (nm)

And dealing with the kids is piece of cake compared to dealing

I think she said the father did not want her around
so really she should take that same stance. I think you just cannot sometimes may an enabler understand what they are doing wrong. My deceased husband, I talked to him about his enabling with his daughter and he told me he would do until his last breath and he did. She was a total invalid after that, did not have a clue (at 30 something) how to make her way. Oh well, glad I wasn’t the mother.
You ask about my son's father?
The father came around after the son grown and now lives with him. No money ever from him while my son growing up, not a penny, nothing. I have nothing against the father, just always thought he basically did good to take care of himself but not a father figure at all for the son. He was able to work, chose to live on the streets and finally got too old to be out there and my son and his family took him into their home. I was there but people have to understand what money does to people, especially if a lot of money, thousands and thousands. My son was upset about my inheritance and that is what happened. It is sad but not my fault he would choose the love of money over his mother. Wish him well.
your father
This is a touchy subject. Yes, it sounds a little like he may be trying to "take the easy way out" but really, what he is doing is self degradating and really desperate. I believe he needs help. Of course, he is not going to see it or admit it himself. That's WHY he needs help. He has threatened to take his life and spoken of wanting to die. I think you should call 911 or see if your town has a crisis team and tell them that he has said he is going to kill himself. Have him taken by ambulance or let the crisis intervention team figure out the transportation. Once he is at the hospital professionals will evaluate him and decide whether or not he needs to be committed against his will or long term treatment. They will give him counseling and even point him in the direction of how to start managing life again. The worse that could happen is that they say hes fine and send him home (which they will not do without at least providing him with information for outpatient treatment and other local agencies that can help him).

However, how will you feel if, God forbid, he does hurt or kill himself while you thought he wass just bluffing?

And even if it doesnt go that far...he will continue to harass you and your mom.

He needs help of some kind and as his daughter I think you should find a way to help him.
How do you know her father was
there for her? You are assuming that. As far as writing him off, it might be the best thing for her. Toxic people are very dangerous. Obviously you had a story book childhood and until you go through something like that, it is impossible to understand. Because it is a parent, it does not mean you have to put up with emotional and mental abuse.
