Her mother isn't too lazy to teach her better sm

Her mother is riding her coattails and loving the party life. Her mother is too messed up herself to teach her anything.

Maybe because they are lazy or just don't - sm
care or want to be troubled by it.
AGAIN --- LAZY.

Why don't you offer her to live off of you while she sits and whines about not having money.  How long would you take it?

Go ahead.  Offer.

You know you wouldn't.  So be still with yourself.

Ha!

Thank you. Never in bird. I'm too lazy LOL :-) NM

I would if they were being lazy bums...
I am 35, and while I'm not terribly "successful", I'm very independent. My mom let us live at home, but she had stipulations. We either had to be working full time or going to school full time if we were living with her. she said in emergencies, we always had a place to crash until we get on our feet, but not to be lazy and do nothing, and I'm so glad she did that! My sister and I are both independent people. I know first hand a few guys who in their MID 40s, STILL live at home! no ambition to go, and actually one guy annoys me because he has the nerve to get IRRITATED with his parents for asking him about his life, where he's at, whatever. I find it funny that he doesn't think that living with her gives her the right to know whether or not he's coming home. He lives there free of charge, would rather not work if he didn't have to, and has no ambition and it bugs me. I know him as a friend of a friend, and I don't particularly care for his laziness at all.

I will do what my mom did when my son is old enough, he can stay as long as he is working full time and/or going to school full time. I will not raise or enable mooching or being a bum around me. But, if at any point in his life if he's been on his own, then has something like a divorce or lost a job, and needs to come home, of course I'd welcome him with open arms till he gets back on his feet. He's 8, so I have a while to worry about that. ;)
Absolutely. If someone is too lazy to get a job,

Are you lazy?  Or are you working?

Probably lazy.

I am lazy and not a good cook, but I buy those roast bags sm
in with the seasoning packets. It comes with seasoning and the bag for about $2 usually. I buy whatever cut is on sale, put it in the bag with the seasoning, straight to the hot oven and add veggies in a few hours. Always, always tender and falling apart no matter what cut. I have tried the crockpot too, but mine is never good and tender that way.
I agree! Many kids are overweight, lazy and don't want to work hard for anything!
Good luck to them in the working world...how many do you think will actually do well? It's a scary thought.
Art - BFA -- I don't want to teach and it - sm
openings for art teachers are few as it is, also it is hard to support yourself as an artist unless you are really, really good, or really, really lucky.

Not so much our moms as we just try to teach
xx
Well, that'll really teach her...
A lesson won't it now?  I mean being confined to a mansion with servants, cooks, etc., and nothing to do all day but swim, tan, whatever else she does...wow, talk about injustice...amazing
For me, it comes from not having anyone to teach you your worth when you are a kid (sm)
My husband was not nice even when we are dating. I had not been taught that I deserved to be treated with respect. Now you may say I am teaching my daughter the same thing - however, I'm not. I make sure that if she or my son see my husband treat me disrespectfully that I respond, in a respectful way to him that that is an inappropriate way for him to talk to me. I am still however, stuck with making a decision over what is better for the children. Sometimes these men who are bad husbands are not such bad fathers. It's a hard decision - not as easy as typing "just leave" on a message board.
Most people teach
their children Santa is an actual entity, not the spirit of Christmas.

My mom told me there was a St. Nicholas who gave to others and that "Santa" was just a way to replicate the wonderful intention of St. Nicholas.

Most people, including myself, lead their children to believe he is a real being, and it can be very disheartening when they find out it is not true.

Any thoughts on that specifically ... anyone?
Their parents don't teach them
and also, they don't get those classes at school. I guess also I was fortunate in that my mother was a tailor and dressmaker and I used to help her with finishing clothes; buttons, etc.

It is such a disposable society today also. If it is broken, don't fix it but toss it out and buy something new. With the economy the way it is, possibly that might change.
well I figure if I don't teach them sm
they won't get it when they have to get out in the real world. If they are not going to school and want to live with you why should you pay all their bills?

BTW, what I did was put half of what they gave me away and when they left home I had a nice little nest egg to give back to them to get them started. But they didn't know I was doing that until the time came for them to move out.

In this economy it is very expensive to pay for everyones groceries, laundry soap, etc. I think its a disservice not to require something. Maybe not half or even a quarter, but something! I don't want anyone to wind up like my niece at 45 with no responsibility at all and living off her widowed mother and her fixed income while making 30 bucks an hour herself plus overtime and spending it as fast as she can. Oh yes this is also in the state with the worst economy in the nation..Michigan! But then I guess she thinks she is entitled.
where I am they teach this class in 5th grade + up...

I think it is great to teach your kids
My daughter attended a school for special needs children as a mentor when she was 3 and 4-years-old.  She loved it.  The special needs children really responded to my daughter and she made great friends.  What joy you and your daughter brought to this man's evening last night!  After all, we all just want to be accepted no matter our religion, creed, etc.  Thank you for sharing that nice story, and it sounds like your daughter has a caring/sharing heart!!!  Bravo to her and you for raising up such a nice person, which is much, much needed in today's society!
They teach them to say that when their real little rednecks :-) (nm)

Trose, I don't believe in heaven, but I would teach SM
heaven to small children, until they are older and can grasp death in the reality of truth. Hmm,did that make any sense? It's late.
I teach English as a volunteer.
While there are immigrants here who do not choose to actively pursue learning the language via formal means, there are many who do. We have a waiting list of up to 12-14 months due to class space restrictions and a lack of volunteers. English is not an easy language to learn, and it takes time.
And if you open it up for her to teach them her way, then you are opening it up to all (sm)
That means people who are homophobic or racist can also teach children their point of view? There has to be a line drawn somewhere.
400 lines per hour? You need to teach me a few things! LOL nm

Not educational. This is something that should be the parents job to teach, not the school. sm
Besides, why should school children have a field trip to ANY wedding? What would people say if someone had a field trip to a church service? These are things that parents need to be able to teach their children when the time is right.
Then why did you just say it would teach tolerance? Apparently there was a goal. sm
I will teach my children love and tolerance myself. I carried them in my body and ate healthy foods, gave birth, and have taken care of them since the day they were born. I make the decisions for them. Thank God for now Americans are still free and we get to make those choices for our own children. And I would bet you don't have any.
I am 31 and they didn't teach home ec in school...
We had college prep courses...Believe me, I wish I could sew as well...doesn't mean I can't learn now but no, I was never taught in school...
Send the police to his house, this will teach him

Good grief. Do parents not teach their

So the 'right way' to parent is to teach your kids to hate.

you all should also teach your girls about their cycle and how ovulation coincides with timing for p
i truly believe if young girls know how to chart their cycles and that there was only that 3-4 day period a month that they could get pregnant, teenage pregnancy would drop. ovulation falls basically in the middle of the no period cycle, which is the time most girls would be more likely to have sex to start with thus why you hear of so many girls getting pregnant having sex only one time. face it, they are gonna do it so help teach them as a mother to chart their cycles, protect themselves, and avoid those few days.
I still think it should be the parents who teach the child these things, not the school's place.
Each child goes to school to learn facts. They learn their social skills, values, etc.at home and from friends that their parents allow them to associate with. The school is a public entity full of many INDIVIDUALS who all have different values and opinions. Teachers should not be teaching children their own personal values and should leave that to the parents.
If wanting to teach my son our own family values makes me a bigot..then so be it. sm
I will gladly wear that label. Flame away if you want.

I will NEVER let some school teacher try to foist her own opinions on my child. And to do this on school time??

The bible flat out says that man should not lie with man or woman with woman. If that school district is an example of what passes for family values in SF, no wonder Michael Savage calls it San Fran Sicko. I have to agree with him. Pretty dress or no pretty dress.
it's not illegal, but it's inappropriate & he shouldn't be allowed to teach anymore

Whatever my mother-in-law and mother are cooking--lol
we go to my in-laws for Christmas Eve and usually have ham and kielbasa (we are Polish) and then my mom usually has turkey or roasted chicken on Christmas Day
I agree - a mother is a mother and a daughter is a daughter for life sm
despite the problems they had, which i truly believe stem for anna's drug problems. obviously her mom wasn't too bad or she would not have raised daniel for a while. i think the mother wants her buried in Texas so the grave will be close enough that she can go visit it without having to come up with expenses of going to the bahamas to get there. although i contradict that too in poor anna needs to be buried with her son.

mother in-law help sm

Ok, so here is what is going on.  My mother in-law fell down some stairs and broke her leg.  She did not have insurance.  She had not been to a doctor in 27 years.  She has been in the hospital for about 4 days.  They had to do surgery and things are looking good.  She will have to have rehab for a few months, use a walker and so on.  Well, guess who they ask to take care of her for the next few months?  The "stay-at-home" mom who has all the free time in the world haha (not to mention I have a 3 year old who stays at home with me and a busy 6 year old in school).  This would consist of me taking her to the restroom, bathing, changing dressings, helping with rehab exercises, not to mention working 8 hours a day and making sure my 3 year old doesn't climb on her.  I feel bad for saying no, but I think that they should feel bad for asking me.  She has 5 children.  I feel that it is way too much responsibility for me to take on and that it absurd that they asked me.  Aren't there facilities where she can go at least for the 1st month?  Please help, just need advise.

And for anyone who wants to say "if it was your mother..."  Believe it or not, in June MY mother fell down some stairs and broke her ankle.  I was at her house every afternoon and we had people come in multiple times daily to check on her.  However, the mother in-law is about 25 years older and the extent of the injury is greater.  I would have never asked my husband to take care of her and help her do these things.

My mother-in-law
My mother-in-law keeps giving my Longaberger baskets for b-days and Christmas.  She loves these baskets and has over 100.  She visits the factory several times a year, (about a 4 1/2 hour drive) and often takes the female family members with her.  These baskets are beautiful but I am just not a basket person.  I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but these baskets are expensive and I have over 20.  When I tried to mention to her as politely as possible that I just don't need any more baskets, she told me that she often changes hers out so she can enjoy them all.  I would much rather have sheets, bath towels, cookware, or even a gift certificate for dinner.  My hubby and I have been married 19 years, have to children, and have a very good relationship with my mother-in-law.  She is a fabulous grandmother, but I am really tired of the baskets.  Any suggestions?
I also have MVP and so does my mother...
so I don't know if there is a correlation or not between the two...
My mother's cat
looked like it had mange and when I asked the vet about it he said he had never seen a cat with mange.  A friend told my mom that cats are extremely allergic to poinsettas and my mother had one sitting in the cat's favorite window.  After she threw out the flower the cat got better very quickly.
It's up to your mother-in-law to keep them in the

them.  Your sister-in-law should not even bring them over there anymore in my opinion.  If your mother-in-law's gate cannot hold them in for sure, then she absolutely should not watch them.

Your sister-in-law sounds selfish to me, so point out to her that it is unsafe for her OWN animals to be out running free, as anyone would have the right to shoot them if they were on their property threatening them.  Maybe then she will care!  Plus she (or you mom-in-law) could be sued if the dogs injure or kill someone or someone's animals.  Not to mention they would have to live with that for the rest of their lives.

Having seen my own mother do a 180
since the death of my own dad 3-1/2 years ago and learning the hard way from things that have happened - I would just keep my mouth shut and say nothing and do nothing.
mother . ..
This may not be comforting to you, but I wish my mom (also 80) would do something like that. I think she would enjoy the company, and the activities. We have an awesome ALF here in our town; it's like a mini city!!!! Be glad she is making this decision for you and that you don't have to push her. She may benefit tremendously from this!!!!
