Im not talking about a check. Im talking about a positive administration working FOR Americans and
Not receiving a check each month to help us out is not what got us in this mess...
What's the difference between talking on cell and talking to person sitting across from you?
You should be ignoring people at other tables and MYOB.
keep an eye out for someone with a style like you want
and ask them where they get their hair done. Or call the local retirement center or elder-condo complex and ask them about hairdressers. If you can find a younger person who works on older people, you'll have hit the jackpot; they'll probably love the creativity of what you are describing. Good luck!
I like your style, I thought exactly the same - nm

    hair style
My hairstyle is very low maintenance, a layered cut barely past my shoulders, which I shape with a hairbrush and blowdryer.  It takes less than 5 minutes, but I have a lot of natural curl.  What is your hair type?  That makes a big difference.
    Doggie style???

I think I'd mix em up to give a little style to your display

Have big hair! The big 80s permed style.

I loved it and it was so easy.  But my sisters say they won't be seen in public with me if I do it.

your parenting style is really bordering on abuse
and what makes this so sad is the fact that your children are so young and cannot control what is happening to them.  They are trapped in a world ruled by your iron fist.
Maybe you could get wood, Pergo style or tile?
Of course if your carpet is in good condition, that could really hurt the pocketbook.
We have Pergo (Wilson Art brand, actually), and it works well for the dogs, although it is a little slippery and cold. (My dogs like cold though, and our carpeting was trashed). Real wood would be warmer. You'd need to keep nails cut and discourage running in the house to keep it looking really nice though.
LOL! That style was big in 1970! I remember Cher had

You never ever put anything in writing
that you would not want others to see. Now with the children being totally out of control, the school is probably being proactive in the discipline of this child- she surely is not being taught much from her home. I think the school probably is doing the right thing, maybe the child will not be so apt to post bad remarks about the next person.

Any challenge of the validity of the debt must be in writing.  Send it certified.  Did you receive anything in writing from them?  By law they must send something in writing 5 days after the first phone call.  If they do happen to sue, show up in court or they will get a default judgment.  You can, however, ask for validation even in court.  Go to that website I gave you.  You will find tons of information about your rights in dealing with collection agencies.  http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/

    Writing
I used to write all the time; my main focus was on poems/lyrics...I miss writing so much, I haven't done it in a few years because I have MS and I guess I have sort of given up yet the words are still inside; just a bit more difficult to get them out. I miss it so much - any tips you could offer me...I still have my MT gig but that gets a little hard too but i am still trying...
    EVERYTHING in writing.
Start a journal & in it document every sniffle, every cough, every trip to the doctor or the pharmacy, every sleepless night, every lost hour of work, time & date & duration of mold smell. Requests to fix the problem have to be in writing. Mail them certified & get receipts. Conversations with the landlord: After they happen, write down word for word what was said, time, date.

If you have to resort to legal action to break the lease, you MUST have everything in writing. I suggest you get a book on tenant rights from Nolo Press or visit a lawyer NOW so that s/he can help you plan this out.

My opinion is whatever hair style makes you happy...sm
is what is appropriate. I am 54 and personally I feel like my hair is easier to style and looks better with my face shape when it is about chin length. Don't worry about what other folks say about hair and age - that's what I think.
She wasn't talking to you, BTW. She was talking about the 2 posters below! nm

    I find the writing fantastic.
I get very annoyed with writers who have no writing skills. My hubby insisted I read a book a while back that was getting all these raves - the one they made a movie with Tom Hanks, and it was all about art and Rome and theories about Biblical history - I can't remember the name. That writer needs to walk the plank IMO. After one chapter I was livid that anybody would publish such a horrible writer, LOL. His vocabularly consists of about 100 words, for one thing.
The writing is on the wall, so to speak
You make a difference in the g'parents- your children are picking up on this. I had a similar thing going on with my son- my mother did all the loving, fun things he wanted- my father (they were divorced, each remarried) was strict, no fun to be around, hardworking but I believed in their being able to share and I did. Both are deceased now and I do not regret having him spend as much time with 1 as the other. Oh, BTW, one of my most enjoyable things as a child was when I spent time with my father and his wife- they had a small garden and I absolutely loved to dig up the potatoes- used to beg to get to do it. You should have a good talk with everyone and insist spending time with all- don’t let your feelings play into their hesitancy on going. Grandparents are not always right but she wants to have some time with them. Not all g'parents want to be bothered with kids, believe it or not.
Well, writing this after the episode was shown.
Doubt we will see Callie and McSteamy but Merideth better get over that thing she has not dealing with her life with mom or she may lose her man.  Drives me nuts, let it go already, get over it, move on.  Liking the new doc Yang has her eyes on more every episode.  Gosh, we all sound like this is really a functional and actual hospital setting;-)

Letter or card writing to Iraq sm
Get an address for someone in Iraq and have them all write a letter or draw a picture for them.. All it will cost you is to buy some paper & envelopes and provide a stamp, won't cost much more for material than most projects. There was an address on here and perhaps she will e-mail you. My brother never forgot that my son's class did this for him. At that time the postage was free, not so with this president, I assume. I put postage in mine to Iraq, didn't ask.Dont know what the postage is today - it should be free but I seriously doubt it.Perhaps some parents would donate stamps as well.
The company writing the 1099 reports that
They have to report the 1099s they distribute.

I personally have great disdain for tax evaders, which is what you are if you don't report your income.

I pay my taxes and report all of my income fairly and accurately. Those who don't are commiting a criminal act against me as a taxpayer and against the government.

Sending your 1099 in a black envelope would be a protective measure, prevening others from easily viewing information through the envelope. Not quite as underhanded as you seem to want to believe. :)

    Check-writing doesn't bother me
so much as the little old ladies with their frail eyesight and arthritic hands, bless their hearts, digging in their coin purses for the exact change.  It's too bad I'm in such a hurry I can't just admire their independence.
no wonder why we were going off in grand style on pols and relig..full moon and lunar eclipse...
    Eclipse

Path of the Moon through Earth's umbral and penumbral shadows
during the Total Lunar Eclipse of February 20, 2008.
    (Eastern Standard Time)

    Introduction

A total eclipse of the Moon occurs during the night of Wednesday, February 20/21, 2008. The entire event is visible from South America and most of North America (on Feb. 20) as well as Western Europe, Africa, and western Asia (on Feb. 21). During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon's disk can take on a dramatically colorful appearance from bright orange to blood red to dark brown and (rarely) very dark gray.

An eclipse of the Moon can only take place at Full Moon, and only if the Moon passes through some portion of Earth's shadow. The shadow is actually composed of two cone-shaped parts, one nested inside the other. The outer shadow or penumbra is a zone where Earth blocks some (but not all) of the Sun's rays. In contrast, the inner shadow or umbra is a region where Earth blocks all direct sunlight from reaching the Moon.

If only part of the Moon passes through the umbra, a partial eclipse is seen. However, if the entire Moon passes through the umbral shadow, then a total eclipse of the Moon occurs. For more information on how, what, why, where and when of lunar eclipses, see the special web page lunar eclipses for beginners.

    Lunar Eclipse Diagrams

The following diagrams show the Moon's path through Earth's shadows (higher resolution versions of the above figure). The times of major stages of the eclipse are given for a number of time zones in North America. Please choose the diagram for your own time zone. Each diagram is a GIF file with a size of about 100k.

Some people may be puzzled that the Moon's motion is from west to east (right to left) in these diagrams, instead of its daily east to west (left to right) motion in the sky. However, the Moon actually moves WEST to EAST (right to left in the Northern Hemisphere) with respect to the Earth's shadow and the stars.

Times and Phases of the Total Lunar Eclipse of February 20/21, 2008

From start to finish, February's lunar eclipse lasts about three hours and twenty-six minutes (not including the penumbral phases which are very difficult to see). The partial eclipse begins as the Moon's eastern edge slowly moves into the Earth's umbral shadow. During the partial phases, it takes just over an hour for the Moon's orbital motion to carry it entirely within the Earth's dark umbra. The color and brightness of the totally eclipsed Moon can vary considerably from one eclipse to another. Dark eclipses are caused by volcanic gas and dust which filters and blocks much of the Sun's light from reaching the Moon. But since no major volcanic eruptions have taken place recently, the Moon will probably take on a vivid red or orange color during the total phase. After the total phase ends, it is once again followed by a partial eclipse as the Moon gradually leaves the umbral shadow.

The total phase of a lunar eclipse is called totality. At this time, the Moon is completely immersed within the Earth's dark umbral shadow. During the February 20 eclipse totality will last just under 50 minutes. This is quite a bit less than the last total lunar eclipse ( August 28, 2007) which lasted 90 minutes.

The major phases of the eclipse occur as follows (all times are GMT or Greenwich Mean Time). The partial eclipse commences with first umbral contact at 01:43 GMT. Totality begins at 03:01 GMT and lasts until 03:51 GMT. The partial phases end at 05:09 GMT. Eclipse times for time zones in the United States and Canada are shown in the following table.

Visibility of the Total Lunar Eclipse of February 20, 2008

February's lunar eclipse is well-placed for North and South America as well as Europe and Africa. Observers along North America's west coast miss the early stages of the partial eclipse because it begins before moon rise. Alaskans in Anchorage and Fairbanks experience moonrise during totality but bright evening twilight will make it difficult for sourdoughs to view the event. Western Europe and northwest Africa also see the entire eclipse. Further to the east (east Africa and central Asia), the Moon sets before the eclipse ends. None of the eclipse is visible from eastern Asia or Australia.

Preceeding and following the eclipse are hour-long penumbral phases but these are faint and quite difficult to see. The more interesting and photogenic partial and total phases always take center stage to the penumbral phases.

The map above shows the geographic regions of visibility for each phase of the eclipse. The entire eclipse is visible from start to finish in the white (unshaded) portion of the map, while none of the eclipse can be seen from the dark gray areas.

For anyone located in the blue shaded region labeled Eclipse at Moonset, this means that the Moon will set while some phase of the eclipse is already in progress. The contact curves labeled P1, U1, U2, U3, U4, and P4 represent each phase of the eclipse (see the key above). If you are east (right) of a particular curve, that phase occurs after moonset and you will not see it. However, if you are west (left) of a curve, that phase occurs before moonset and you will see it (weather permitting).

For example, on the above map Turkey lies west (left) of the U3 curve (total eclipse end) and east (right) of the curve U4 (partial eclipse ends). This means that from this region, the Moon sets during the partial phases following totality.

For observers located within the second blue shaded region labeled Eclipse at Moonrise, the situation is reversed. Here the Moon rises while some phase of the eclipse is already in progress. If you are west (left) of a particular curve (P1, U1, U2, U3, U4, or P4), that phase occurs before moonrise and you will not see it. However, if you are east (right) of a contact curve, that phase occurs after moonrise and you will see it (weather permitting).

All total eclipses start with a penumbral followed by a partial eclipse, and end with a partial followed by a penumbral eclipse (the total eclipse is sandwiched in the middle). Since the penumbral phases of the eclipse are so difficult to see, we will ignore them.

    Wonderful Totality

At the instant of mid-totality (03:37 GMT), the Moon will lie in the zenith for observers in French Guiana. At this time, the umbral eclipse magnitude peaks at 1.1062.

From the diagram above, it is clear that the northern (top) edge of the Moon will dip much deeper into the Earth's shadow than will the southern (bottom) edge. Since the Earth's umbral shadow is darker in the center than at the edge, the Moon's appearance will likely change dramatically with time. A large variation in shadow brightness can be expected and observers are encouraged to estimate the Danjon value at different times during totality ( Danjon Brightness Scale). Note that it may also be necessary to assign different Danjon values to different portions of the Moon at different times.

This could be an excellent opportunity for budding astronomers and students to test their observing skills. Try recording your estimates of the Moon's brightness every ten minutes during totality using the Danjon Scale. Compare your results with your companions and classmates and discover how the Moon's appearance changes during the total eclipse. The brightness of the totally eclipsed Moon is very sensitive to the presence of volcanic dust in Earth's atmosphere. As part of a continuing research project, Dr. Richard Keen has been using reports of lunar eclipse brightnesses to calculate a history of optical thicknesses of volcanic dust layers (see: What Will 2004's Lunar Eclipses Look Like?). If you'd like to help Dr. Keen by making eclipse observations, you can contact him at Richard.Keen@Colorado.EDU.

The amount of dust and sulfur dioxide in Earth's atmosphere also has an effect on the diameter of the umbral shadow. Amateur astronomers with telescopes can make careful timings of when some of the Moon's major craters enter or exit the umbra. Such observations are valuable in determining the enlargement of Earth's shadow. A table of crater predictions identifies twenty well-defined craters useful for this purpose. For more information, see: Crater Timings During Lunar Eclipses.

An eclipse of the Moon also presents a tempting subject to photograph. Since the Moon appears quite small in the sky, you'll need a fairly powerful telephoto lens (400 mm or more) or even a small telescope to attach to your camera. A typical ISO 400 speed (either digital or film) is a good choice. For more information on equipment, film, recommended exposures and additional tips, see lunar eclipse photography.

Unlike solar eclipses, lunar eclipses are completely safe to watch. Protective filters are not necessary and neither is a telescope. A lunar eclipse can be observed with nothing more than the naked eye. However, a pair of binoculars will magnify the view and make the red coloration brighter and easier to see. A standard pair of 7x35 or 7x50 binoculars is sufficient.

During the eclipse, the Moon will be in Leo. Saturn and bright star Regulus are only 3 degrees east and west, respectively, of the Moon. Geminii, Orion, Taurus and other winter constellations will occupy the south and western sky for North American eclipse watchers. viewers.

Although total eclipses of the Moon are of limited scientific value, they are remarkably beautiful events which do not require expensive equipment. They help to cultivate interest in science and astronomy in children and to provide a unique learning opportunity for families, students and teachers. To the nature lover and naturalist, the lunar eclipse can be appreciated and celebrated as an event which vividly illustrates our place among the planets in the solar system. The three dimensional reality of our universe comes alive in a graceful celestial ballet as the Moon swings through the Earth's shadow. Hope for clear skies, dress warmly and enjoy the show!

    Eclipse Frequency and Future Eclipses

During the five millennium period from 2000 BC through AD 3000, there are 7,718 eclipses[1] of the Moon (including both partial and total eclipses). From 0 to 3 lunar eclipses (partial or total) occur each year. The last time three total lunar eclipses occurred in one calendar year was in 1982. On average, partial eclipses slightly outnumber total eclipses by 7 to 6[2].

[1] Only eclipses where the Moon passes through Earth's umbral shadow are included in these values. A minor type of eclipse is the penumbral eclipse which occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth's faint penumbral shadow. Penumbral eclipses are rarely discernible to the naked eye and are of lesser importance than umbral eclipses.

[2] Penumbral eclipses are excluded from these statistics.

The last total lunar eclipse visible from the entire continental United States occurred on August 28, 2007. North Americans will have their next opportunity to see a total lunar eclipse on 2010 Dec 21.

The table below lists every lunar eclipse from 2007 through 2012. Click on the eclipse Date to see a map and diagram of an eclipse. Although penumbral lunar eclipses are included in this list, they are usually quite difficult to observe because of their subtlety. The penumbra is a partial shadow which still permits some direct sunlight to reach the Moon.

The Umbral Eclipse Magnitude is the fraction on the Moon's diameter immersed in the umbra at maximum eclipse. For values of 1.0 or greater, the eclipse is total. For negative values, the eclipse is penumbral. The Total Duration is the duration of the total phase (total eclipses only).

Dog killing and mayor involved in letter writing
I am really in a twizzy this morning. Shirley Franklin, city of Atlanta mayor, wrote a letter to the judge involved in the Michael Vick dog fighting/killing asking for leniency as, how she put it, Vick had done a lot for the community and helped folks out. Phooey!!! I hope personally he never is able to return to the Falcons or any other football team. I think whatever he was able to accomplish was blown by the fact that he participated in the killing of dogs. How inhumane is that? I hope PETA gets out and strikes each and every time (if he is rehired by any jackoffs) he is supposed to be playing. Came from the ghetto and I suppose the thug still in him. What a shame. Never made a million in my life and he made mega millions and then threw it all away for ??? I am vexed by her doing such a deed and will send letter stating my feelings.
bull, he was not too drunk he has a girlfriend. See the writing on the wall. nm

Am not talking politics here at all, talking
about how she views the southern culture which apparently she knows very little. I do not care about her politics- what I care about is by making a statement like that only shows a persons ignorance. My maid is working today, has lived in the gettos all her life in a big city and when I asked her about it she said something she has not seen in maybe 30 years. In her neighborhood there is all sort of crime that goes on (well, that is about everywhere) but if anyone would see it she would be 1. Like I say, could care less about Whoopie's political views other than the fact she got that wrong. Neil Boortz also was saying the same,;he said she was probably still holding the south in such a light because of her inability to go into a upper class restaurant here in town dressing in blue jeans. Being as she was born in NYC, we southerns still say da.n yankees! So true here.
I got a great job writing/editing for a publication through my editing skills as MT. nm

    Look who's talking!
So what are you doing here? Also, it should be "as well as the ones WHO answered this", by the way.
    look whose talking too!

Maybe that is me you are talking about?
Hey, I thought I was consoling when I said that maybe she had religion in her heart but hey, read into it whatever you want. You cannot save everyone and if she had wanted to hear you, you would not have been hushed. I lost my grandmother 30 years ago and I was extremely close to her and visited her often. I remember her fondly. I for 1 do not believe that only Christians are the chosen ones so if your grandmother was another religion that you do not approve of, she might have picked the right one, who knows? My heart was in the right place when I answered you but apparently you thought otherwise.
If a guy is still talking to his

and they have no kids together, been divorced almost a year, that's bad, right?

She cheated, why would he want to talk to her still?

    that's OK. keep talking.
She really has her heart set on Pratt so spending 4 days in Brooklyn to learn her way around a little. She is a thrift store junkie so we will be exploring Park Slope and Williamsburg anyway. Juniors sounds like a definite. Thank you so much. So much to choose from, we never know where to begin, but we are both adventurous eaters and willing to try anything. We will both have a big huge fattening piece of cheesecake for you! Brooklyn gardens has been on my list for years so this is the year for that also.

But it is CNN along with others, we are not talking
about talk, regular every day news, local, nightly. As far as the newspapers, I learned several years ago the news terribly slanted and now the news is sensationalized. These stories I listed are on CNN news page as we speak.
    What are you talking about???????????????
    l
that's what I was talking about...

and we have an owl on this property (that nobody can see) for a couple of years and he/she does hoot and sometimes his/her hoot can go on for hours and all different times of the day/evening.  Been living here for 17 years on this property and while I have always *heard* this owl occasionally....his/her hooting has increased tenfold over time.

Last night the birds were chirping big time around 11 pm or midnight!  I just don't get it......well, I DO get it....and it's scary....*thoughts of the future and the environment*

not really...we have tried talking to them about it before but they don't get it...
We are always doing something and I just find it so rude that we don't even get a phone call before stopping over...we love having them but just want a little respect in that area...My parents always call before coming over...
can you use (is this what you are talking about)
the inexpensive throws you see everywhere - rolled up - like big lots and target - I am not spending a lot this year and have two adult daughters who are always cold - this sounds so cool.
    Just talking about this
Had my mother lived, she would be incensed. We have bent over backwards trying to be correct while our freedoms, celebrations, what have you are disappearing. There are all kind of people in the work force, you cannot please each and every one. It is like a person not liking a particular television show, darn turn it off, don’t look, don’t join in with the rest but to say they don’t believe in it?? I don’t believe in a lot of others beliefs but I leave them alone, I do not try to push my beliefs, values on them. We are slowly losing our country, little by little.
    Just talking about this...
I would like to say that I am of the Jewish faith, and I have always went along with the Christmas Parties, etc. It doesn't offend me as I know that the majority celebrates Christmas. I am married to a Christian, so we celebrate both. My children are versed in both religions and I think that it will make them more rounded individuals when they get older. So don't go slamming everyone for their beliefs. Everyone's different.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa!
I really don’t know what you are talking about
I said sorry for the child taking irradiation- I said we all have problems - we do. I said thought 14 too old for paddling - I do. The original poster put in about the padded panties and how her bottom looked or should look without the bruising. Where do I come off being horrible? Do not understand your post. She has gone into much detail about the wheres and whys and how the paddling to take place. I still find that really, really strange and question the validity of that.
    Exactly what I'm talking about..sm
People so bitter around here for something that is happening to another person that will in no way affect them or their tax dollars, and here they want to whine about it. It is not your life, it is not your daughter's life, so why not just leave it be if you have nothing nice to say? Bah. Old biddies I guess ;)
If you really want to get them talking
If you don't care what she says about you, you could always ask her if she has had her rabies shot today. Then say "Yeah, I wanted to give you something else you can talk to other people about me behind my back". But then again, if you have to be around her the best advice is what everyone else said...stay away from her. She is definitely mentally imbalanced. I used to belong t a quilting group and this one lady would talk about church, church, church, sunday school, we did this and we did that, we do good things for people, and then in the same breath talk really nasty about people. One time she said such an insensitive remark to me about my husband (whom she had never met) I left in the middle of my lesson in tears and never went back to that group and joined another. I never gave this lady a chance to say another mean word to me. People like this are just truly ignorant. I call them energy vampires. They suck all the energy right out of you and believe me, they are out there. Best of luck to you.
Are you actually talking about someone else? sm
Maybe a friend you fell out with and you know she reads this board? If you really are talking about yourself, go talk to a doctor and get some antidepressants :-)
    wth are you talking about?
not sure how you figure insurnace companies charge you for other people's kids...
i know what you are talking about sm
i'm fascinated with spirit stuff. i know what orbs are. maybe i should take some pictures around our house. we haven't had any family pass. he explains to me what the ghost looks like. once he said he saw the grim reaper in the bath tub. i don't in anyway put these ideas in his head. i don't even bring them up. but when he brings them up, i don't brush it off, i ask him what he saw, if he was scared, if they talk to him. i don't want him to feel like he can't come to me and tell me these things. my hubby on the other hand, doesn't believe in that stuff, and i haven't even told him that our 6 y/o says he sees stuff like that. he'd think i was feeding it in his head, but i don't. i had a dream once when i was pregnant with my first son. it was the most amazing dream i had ever had. i dream in color, and they seem so real. anyway, i was pregnant with my first kid, didn't know what i was having at the time of this dream. in my dream an angel came to me (she looked like my mom --- my mom is still alive) and she was holding a baby. it was a baby boy. after i had my first boy, he looked exactly like the baby in my dream that the angel was holding. it was just amazing!!!!
