and after three years of apartment living, I purchased my own condo six months ago. The apartment where I lived was on the ground level. All was fine until a "manager" moved in next to me, also ground level, obviously. She was a smoker, had many friends that were smokers. We were not supposed to smoke in the building, so they would sit out on their patio, many times until the wee hours of the morning, and all smoke. Their smoke would come through my patio door and through my bedroom window. I don't know how many times I woke up at 1 or 2 in the morning to my bedroom filled with cigarette smoke, as they would be outside playing cards half the night! I was told "shut your windows and turn on your air conditioner if you don't like it!" So THEIR cigarette smoking cost me extra electricity bills and took away my right to have my windows open and breathe fresh air. The smokers won out again! Very Rude. Very inconsiderate, and after three years, I could stand it no more. I bought my own place and moved. No more smoking worries! So just be careful who you have beside you, as they can still sit outside and smoke, and it can still infiltrate into your area! I surely feel your pain! I wish you much luck and happiness on your next residence!!!
