I stopped watching a couple of years ago....

Posted By: MomMT on 2007-05-18
In Reply to: after Carter and Lucy (sm) - SP

whatever did happen to Carter? I loved when he was on there. How in the heck did Luka and Abby get together again??? I know he was with that nurse and her son and that's it. I did see one commercial where Abby was pregnant? I'm sure I'm way out of the loop now. It just ain't like it used to be.

But stopped watching about 2 seasons ago -think Chase lost it.

I had it done a couple of years ago too
It really was not that bad. My understanding of why they only will do two quadrants at a time is that it is because they will not numb up both sides of your mouth at one time, so it is an upper and a lower quadrant done together.

My sister also had to have it done last week, but the weird thing is they only said she needed two quadrants done (I believe on the same side, so upper and lower). She or I neither one could get our heads around that, so she decided to "treat" herself and have the other two quads done as well.

Also, I do not have dental insurance, but had bought a plan from dentalplans.com (had the Patriot Plan at the time I had this done). It was about $90 per quad with the plan, but around here it was $300 per quad without the plan.

Good luck!
A couple of years ago my son was a Lego man (sm)
We just spray-painted some boxes red, yellow and blue and cut holes for his arms and head to go through, put two small boxes over his shoes, and printed out a lego emblem and glued to the front. It was really easy and really cool!
A couple of years ago for Christmas sm
I got my daughter, who is an NYU graduate, a sewing machine for Christmas. They didn't even have a home ec classroom in her high school, all academics. No sewing, no foods classes. (That is where I learned to cook, my mother was a terrible cook).

All the "kids" are into Project Runway, and she and her roommates wanted to try to design some clothes. She was worried that she wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it. (I learned to use a simple sewing machine when I was 12 years old, and she learned it very quickly, too). LOL.

Everyone needs to know how to sew, by hand, and by machine.
Unfortunately we've had to do that for the last couple of years
We really wanted to go on expensive family vacations, but we have a rather large credit card bill that we're trying to pay down so we decided no elaborate vacations until we can really afford it.
When I was looking for a puppy a couple of years ago...sm
I was looking for a female and I wanted to name her Jasmine. I ended up with a darling little male puppy, so I settled for Jasper.
I'd say she has a couple of years left.
xx
There's talk about creating one in a couple of years...sm
Some of the areas in our state that have had charter schools start up have had much better test results and happier parents than the public schools.
My grandmother died a couple years ago.
She was not a churchgoing woman but believed in God nonetheless. As we were setting up the funeral arrangements, the pastor asked what Bible verses my grandma would have liked read at the funeral. We told him nothing particular, just whatever he wanted. She wasn't a churchgoer. Well, this Christian pastor took MY GRANDMOTHER'S FUNERAL as an opportunity to tell everyone there that she wasn't going to heaven because she wasn't "born again." I have never been SO MORTIFIED in ALL MY LIFE!!! So, believe me, I have hostility towards Christians who try to "save me" or any of my family.
When I adopt my granddaughter in a couple of years
it is not going to make a difference to her dad - he could care less about her (literally). With my daughter, though, our relationship is already nonexistent so I don't think it could get any worse when I change her daughter's last name to my maiden name. She is more upset that the child has become accustomed to me being the one "playing" momma and calls me that sometimes. I don't refer to myself as "mamma" to my GD, but she choses it to use it from time to time. My daughter thinks she can spit out a kid, walk away from it, and still take all the credit for success at potty training, dance recitals, the child's extensive vocabulary...all the while not visiting, only calling once every few months, not paying court-ordered child support, send presents on special occasions...

A name is just a name. My 4 yo GD told my daughter she was going to call her "sissy" now instead of "momma." My daughter started crying and the child said, "don't cry. We'll find a way for all of us to be together somehow." Out of the mouths of babes. Think my daughter actually heard the child was saying she wanted all 3 of us to have a relationship? Nope. Too wrapped up in herself to listen.

I think people overreact to names. I think it is the relationship that counts, and if the family of Heartbroken doesn't see that, it is the child's loss and that is who I feel sorry for.
A couple years ago I asked about the same thing - sm
it my case it turned out to be the dog food. Maggie was on Purina One, I switched her to Wellness a good quality dogfood, and presto no more smell. So if the dog has always been stinky the dogfood may be to blame.
Have used only cell phones for probably a couple of years.
Saves us about $80-85 a month.
We had this problem a couple of years ago but from a cousin.... sm
Forget the medicated crap. It does not work that well. Take a bottle of Crisco oil and put it on the person's head. Wrap the hair in plastic and leave it for a minimum of 4 hours. Then wash the hair in dishwashing liquid (of course one that cuts grease). Do this once every 7 days for 2 weeks. No more lice problems. My eldest has gorgeous hair. Super thick, super long and this took care of it. I did also take the time to take a comb and work in through her hair to be on the safe side.

Yes, I of course washed all bed linens, pillows, stuffed animals etc. I personally used Crisco oil and Palmolive dishwashing liquid. Worked like a charm! And BTW: this was actually recommended by a doctor as he even says the OTC products work but are not that GREAT!

Hope someone can talk to this lil girl's parents or the school steps in and does. Hate to see anyone living through this. At times in our lives, we all made fun of for some reason or another... I would hate it to be this way for this child.
A apologize. I need to emphasize. I quit watching moral filth about 3 years ago. sm
I still love the food network, PBS, and DWTS but not anymore. I refuse to see R rated movies. Filth in, filth out.
I lost 77 pounds on WW a couple of years go. I agree with
meeting and learn from others new recipes or great low cal/low fat things at the store. On-line or at meetings you cant go wrong with WW IMO.
I tried the Jergens stuff in the tube a couple of years ago and
it did really well. People thought I had been in the tanning bed.
I grew up in FL, too, and we got these every couple of years, no permission slips. sm
I forget who did it, but it was one of the service organizations in town. The Lions Club did the hearing tests, somebody else did vision. They do it as a service to those families who either can't afford the exam or are just ignorant to the fact that it should be done. There's nothing invasive about it, it's a service to the community. I understand your kid has a special situation, but save your energy for something bigger.
Martha Stewart did it on her show a couple years ago.
I wrote the directions down and never got to them.  I remember you soak them and dry them  and then sand them lots - I think acrylic paint and glaze.  There are lots of local craft shows where I live and there are a couple gals that do them - bird houses, bowls, one does the neatest bright red apple ones.  Just looks so neat and think it would be fun.  SO - you might try doing a Google on Martha Stewart/gourds or something like that.  Good luck.
My mom noticed this when she started glaucoma meds a couple years ago - sm
Her lashes are so long now that they actually hit the inside of her glasses lenses! Amazing.
I'm sorry. It's rough losing a pet. I lost my dog, Tate a couple years back. SM

He was a sheltie and he used to lay under my desk when I worked and I would rub him with my foot and he was a great foot warmer in the winter!  I used to say, he wasn't my dog, I was his person.  He got sick and then his liver failed and I had to have him put to sleep because he was suffering.  I cried for weeks!  I still haven't gotten another dog.  My kids have been begging me and they've almost wore me down, but for a long time after Taters died, I just couldn't bring myself to even think about another dog.  I compromised and got the kitty last summer.  I've never had a cat before, so I didn't know if I'd like a cat or not.  I've always been a dog lover, but I've been quite taken with my little cat.  He's ornery little guy and I love to play cat and mouse with him.

Listen to me just gush!  Sorry about that.

Wow, a couple of people need to take a couple of happy pills!

Thread stopped. (SM)
We're not going to fight over religion or Christmas or Santa or Christ on this board.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Goldbird

I also stopped some luxuries....sm
I used to like to get my nails done...cut that out. Would occasionally have someone help clean the house. Can't do that any more. If I take the kids to do anything for entertainment I look for coupons. I used to go clothes shopping fairly often but don't do that anymore either.
Neither do I, but it hasn't stopped me ;)

It stopped when parents decided to....

be friends with Susie and Tommy rather than parents. They want their kids to like them, don't want to hurt the poor little ones feelings or harm their self-esteem. Instead of rules they compromise, instead of depriving them of certain things these parents lavish them with every material thing they can for fear of being called a bad mom or dad. It's easier to buy the kid stuff and let them do what they want rather than buck up and be a parent. You all know who you are out there. I have to laugh when I see the 12-year-old who is dressed like a 22-year-old who is at the mall with her 35-year-old mother who is dressed like a 12-year-old. I also think the role models in the home have a lot to do with it too. Mom and dad probably don't respect each other, argue, use foul language, what is a kid to do but think that's the way relationships work. Many parents today are raising the furture  princess whiny-give me-buy me and prince disrepectful-treat women like crap-selfish adults of tomorrow. We are doomed!

Stopped immediately when put in hospital
unable to catch my breath, almost white-out of my lungs. Put on Theophylline, steroids, face looked like the man in the moon but the theophylline the worst. I was eating cigs before then. After 2 weeks in the hospital and being on that particular medicine, never wanted to smoke again and didn't - that was in 1998, Thanksgiving Day to be exact, so sick I didn't want the turkey and dressing.

I should have stopped reading after the first paragraph.
Is this funny? Maybe I've had an easier time of being a woman. I can even pee in the woods without soaking my socks!
i stopped night driving when I was 48....

I live in a huge metropolis where everyone on the road is nasty.....gave up night driving at 48 due to problems seeing with the red, green, orange-yellow traffic lights PLUS headlights and rear lights.

I also have just given up driving all together...people are too nasty on the road.......I never did like driving, let my permit expire when I was 16 - never had a huge interest in driving.....just me is all.......

My children drive and all my friends drive so there's no problem whatsoever *lol*

Well, he finally stopped when he became hungry enough. sm
But I read all of your responses and I thank you. Of course, now he's coming up to me all kinds of sweet and asking me for bananas, cookies, Goldfish crackers (his favorite).
Hey, at least he isn't eating pancakes...
One day our pastor stopped by for a visit

and my son, who was 5 then, was talking to him.  The pastor asked my son what time his bedtime was and he replied, "it's s'posed to be 9 o'clock, but mommy says we piss 'round till 10."  I almost died of embarrassment.  Unfortunately, pissin' is a word I use quite often and never realized how much kids picked up on it.  Thankfully, the pastor laughed and said he understood completely as he grew up on a farm and there was a lot of that going on there.

sounds like me! I recently stopped to gas up my car sm
and put the gas thingie in my gas tank and squeezed the handle, but no gas would come out...hmmm...I decided the reason for this was that this gas pump was broken and so got in my car and drove around to the other side. Again, put in the nozzle and squeezed the handle and....no gas! What the heck? I honestly stood there for 2 minutes trying to figure out the situation before I realized I had to push the button on the gas pump to select the grade of fuel...DUHHHH! I've only been driving for 30 years... Tee-hee!
Since your hair isn't really long, 60 is ridiculous. I stopped sm
paying my hairdresser because I didn't like paying 45 and my hair is pretty long and I like to keep it layered and styled and colored right, too. There are way too many good stylists out there who charge way less, even in the big cities, and I wouldn't waste my time there. Move on. They are ripping people off.

I'm all about stylists and people in the service industry making a living, but 50.00 for the half would even be better than that.
I haven't heard anymore about this-maybe they were stopped

They came here to PA to protest a soldier's funeral this winter.  The only thing they hadn't planned on was the fact that the town where the funeral was held was so small, there was one main street in and out...and that was blocked by the Harley riders and others, so they didn't get in.

that's why i stopped sending Christmas cards
I never got any in return. That's not why I was sending them out, but why waste all that time and energy if nobody cares about it?

My sisters and nieces and nephews and I stopped
exchanging gifts several years ago.  My mom and dad and my family stopped exchanging gifts a couple of years ago.  This year, my 2 grown children and my husband and I agreed to keep Christmas very, very simple.  One gift each.  No big major spending.  We have a new grandson who is a week old and, of course, he will receive gifts from us, but, even for him the spending will be kept to a minimum this year 'cause he won't know the difference.  Maybe you need to just tell your family that you've decided to cut back this year.  They may not understand, but you should not have to stress about such a beautiful time of the year.  I know that I am actually looking forward to the holidays for the first time in a long time because I'm not so concerned about how I'm going to be able to buy gifts for everybody.  We are by no means rich people, but we do have what we need and a lot of what we want.  There is really nothing that any of us needs.  We are truly blessed.
My son's insurance stopped paying for Zyrtec
changed recently. I guess it's nice for people that don't have insurance but when a med goes OTC you can't exactly use it as a medical expense on your taxes anymore
Hubs had same reaction with another Abx for same thing a few months ago. Stopped after
s
Stopped at the Italian market for hot capicolla and provolone..
I also picked up some bread, olives and roasted peppers. So we're having sandwiches. I'll probably make some broccoli rabe and throw some soup on, too.

We call it "dinner" in this part of the country. I'm fascinated by regional language differences.

(From the land where water is wooder.)
Can't be that. I stopped reading your posts to her awhile back.
She laughed a lot, but it was making her vomit so I had to stop.

Thanks for yet another one of your brilliant brain dumps. They're much better for the tulips than the horse manure we were buying.
This worked for me, but I needed such a high dose to feel it, so I stopped. Doing much
s
Ok, I just asked my husband, and he doesn't do it anymore because it stopped working
He said that he kept e-mailing them to get a new scanner, but they never sent him one, and their customer support is horrible. He said that he finally stopped doing it a few months ago because he gave up on them.
they stopped making Chocolate Cherry Diet Dr. Pepper
I feel your pain!!!!
The pc screen. I scanned again and it stopped. I dont think I scanned the alignment sheet properly
the first time.
I think he is doing his job and watching over you.
Can you honestly believe that in the face God, whom you supposedly worship at church and live for, it is okay to portray and celebrate evil or anti-God anything?

If you do, then you really need to visit your preacher today.

As for watching...sm
I think it's because they wouldn't pay much attention to the teacher:-) I sat right outside the door with the other moms and talked, and we could pretty much hear everything. I know there are pricier places that allow you watch on a TV screen, which would be neat. That's not a bad price for the costume if that's what it'll be! Thanks for responding!
Not really into it, but watching it anyway.

Why oh why do I keep watching??? (sm)
Please, if they let Taylor and Nick's baby be Brooke's egg....I'll scream! Can it get any more ridiculous than that? I guess it can though, I mean having the ex-wife of your present husband/daughter of your husband's ex-wife/woman who once carried your husband's child but miscarried artificially inseminate you...come on now, too whacked for me! But I do keep watching...
I'm nor sure after watching exactly (sm)
what to think.  I never did follow the story very closely. I don't believe she is much of a speaker, but after the life she says she led, that is not surprising.  What mainly caught my attention and really annoyed the bejeebers out of me is Oprah's attitude.  To me it seemed so obvious that she wasn't "buying" any of it, and I'm glad the lawyers called her on her remark at the end of the show.  I don't care much for his parents, not sure why, but I don't, just a feeling.  I  hope she gets her kids back.
DH was watching it...
He wanted a cuda' for his b-day on Monday.  Yeah, honey.  You betcha'!
Watching AI
I watched it periodically last night. We were at my father-in-law's for his 80th birthday. Maybe it was because I didn't see everyone, but I didn't like this group at all. There was no one I was interested in watching. I did like I think three out of the ones that I saw, but like I said I don't think it helped that I really get a chance to sit down and really watch it. I'm just waiting for the competition to really start. It seems like it's dragging this year with the way they're doing things.
Ya all watching ER.
Sniff, Sniff.  Not sure what I'm gonna do without it.  Last episode is pretty good so far.  Sniff, sniff.
