We had this problem a couple of years ago but from a cousin.... sm

Forget the medicated crap. It does not work that well. Take a bottle of Crisco oil and put it on the person's head. Wrap the hair in plastic and leave it for a minimum of 4 hours. Then wash the hair in dishwashing liquid (of course one that cuts grease). Do this once every 7 days for 2 weeks. No more lice problems. My eldest has gorgeous hair. Super thick, super long and this took care of it. I did also take the time to take a comb and work in through her hair to be on the safe side.

Yes, I of course washed all bed linens, pillows, stuffed animals etc. I personally used Crisco oil and Palmolive dishwashing liquid. Worked like a charm! And BTW: this was actually recommended by a doctor as he even says the OTC products work but are not that GREAT!

Hope someone can talk to this lil girl's parents or the school steps in and does. Hate to see anyone living through this. At times in our lives, we all made fun of for some reason or another... I would hate it to be this way for this child.

I had it done a couple of years ago too
It really was not that bad. My understanding of why they only will do two quadrants at a time is that it is because they will not numb up both sides of your mouth at one time, so it is an upper and a lower quadrant done together.

My sister also had to have it done last week, but the weird thing is they only said she needed two quadrants done (I believe on the same side, so upper and lower). She or I neither one could get our heads around that, so she decided to "treat" herself and have the other two quads done as well.

Also, I do not have dental insurance, but had bought a plan from dentalplans.com (had the Patriot Plan at the time I had this done). It was about $90 per quad with the plan, but around here it was $300 per quad without the plan.

Good luck!
A couple of years ago my son was a Lego man (sm)
We just spray-painted some boxes red, yellow and blue and cut holes for his arms and head to go through, put two small boxes over his shoes, and printed out a lego emblem and glued to the front. It was really easy and really cool!
A couple of years ago for Christmas sm
I got my daughter, who is an NYU graduate, a sewing machine for Christmas. They didn't even have a home ec classroom in her high school, all academics. No sewing, no foods classes. (That is where I learned to cook, my mother was a terrible cook).

All the "kids" are into Project Runway, and she and her roommates wanted to try to design some clothes. She was worried that she wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it. (I learned to use a simple sewing machine when I was 12 years old, and she learned it very quickly, too). LOL.

Everyone needs to know how to sew, by hand, and by machine.
Unfortunately we've had to do that for the last couple of years
We really wanted to go on expensive family vacations, but we have a rather large credit card bill that we're trying to pay down so we decided no elaborate vacations until we can really afford it.
When I was looking for a puppy a couple of years ago...sm
I was looking for a female and I wanted to name her Jasmine. I ended up with a darling little male puppy, so I settled for Jasper.
I'd say she has a couple of years left.

There's talk about creating one in a couple of years...sm
Some of the areas in our state that have had charter schools start up have had much better test results and happier parents than the public schools.
My grandmother died a couple years ago.
She was not a churchgoing woman but believed in God nonetheless. As we were setting up the funeral arrangements, the pastor asked what Bible verses my grandma would have liked read at the funeral. We told him nothing particular, just whatever he wanted. She wasn't a churchgoer. Well, this Christian pastor took MY GRANDMOTHER'S FUNERAL as an opportunity to tell everyone there that she wasn't going to heaven because she wasn't "born again." I have never been SO MORTIFIED in ALL MY LIFE!!! So, believe me, I have hostility towards Christians who try to "save me" or any of my family.
I stopped watching a couple of years ago....
whatever did happen to Carter? I loved when he was on there. How in the heck did Luka and Abby get together again??? I know he was with that nurse and her son and that's it. I did see one commercial where Abby was pregnant? I'm sure I'm way out of the loop now. It just ain't like it used to be.
When I adopt my granddaughter in a couple of years
it is not going to make a difference to her dad - he could care less about her (literally). With my daughter, though, our relationship is already nonexistent so I don't think it could get any worse when I change her daughter's last name to my maiden name. She is more upset that the child has become accustomed to me being the one "playing" momma and calls me that sometimes. I don't refer to myself as "mamma" to my GD, but she choses it to use it from time to time. My daughter thinks she can spit out a kid, walk away from it, and still take all the credit for success at potty training, dance recitals, the child's extensive vocabulary...all the while not visiting, only calling once every few months, not paying court-ordered child support, send presents on special occasions...

A name is just a name. My 4 yo GD told my daughter she was going to call her "sissy" now instead of "momma." My daughter started crying and the child said, "don't cry. We'll find a way for all of us to be together somehow." Out of the mouths of babes. Think my daughter actually heard the child was saying she wanted all 3 of us to have a relationship? Nope. Too wrapped up in herself to listen.

I think people overreact to names. I think it is the relationship that counts, and if the family of Heartbroken doesn't see that, it is the child's loss and that is who I feel sorry for.
A couple years ago I asked about the same thing - sm
it my case it turned out to be the dog food. Maggie was on Purina One, I switched her to Wellness a good quality dogfood, and presto no more smell. So if the dog has always been stinky the dogfood may be to blame.
Have used only cell phones for probably a couple of years.

I lost 77 pounds on WW a couple of years go. I agree with
meeting and learn from others new recipes or great low cal/low fat things at the store. On-line or at meetings you cant go wrong with WW IMO.
I tried the Jergens stuff in the tube a couple of years ago and
it did really well. People thought I had been in the tanning bed.
I grew up in FL, too, and we got these every couple of years, no permission slips. sm
I forget who did it, but it was one of the service organizations in town. The Lions Club did the hearing tests, somebody else did vision. They do it as a service to those families who either can't afford the exam or are just ignorant to the fact that it should be done. There's nothing invasive about it, it's a service to the community. I understand your kid has a special situation, but save your energy for something bigger.
Martha Stewart did it on her show a couple years ago.
I wrote the directions down and never got to them.  I remember you soak them and dry them  and then sand them lots - I think acrylic paint and glaze.  There are lots of local craft shows where I live and there are a couple gals that do them - bird houses, bowls, one does the neatest bright red apple ones.  Just looks so neat and think it would be fun.  SO - you might try doing a Google on Martha Stewart/gourds or something like that.  Good luck.
My mom noticed this when she started glaucoma meds a couple years ago - sm
Her lashes are so long now that they actually hit the inside of her glasses lenses! Amazing.
I'm sorry. It's rough losing a pet. I lost my dog, Tate a couple years back. SM

He was a sheltie and he used to lay under my desk when I worked and I would rub him with my foot and he was a great foot warmer in the winter!  I used to say, he wasn't my dog, I was his person.  He got sick and then his liver failed and I had to have him put to sleep because he was suffering.  I cried for weeks!  I still haven't gotten another dog.  My kids have been begging me and they've almost wore me down, but for a long time after Taters died, I just couldn't bring myself to even think about another dog.  I compromised and got the kitty last summer.  I've never had a cat before, so I didn't know if I'd like a cat or not.  I've always been a dog lover, but I've been quite taken with my little cat.  He's ornery little guy and I love to play cat and mouse with him.

Listen to me just gush!  Sorry about that.

Wow, a couple of people need to take a couple of happy pills!

My cousin is like this.

now, whenever she says, lets go do this or that this weekend. I will pick you up at 8.   I would say yeah, right we should, but I bet we don't because something always comes up.   She got to where she won't ask me out anymore which is okay since whenever she did ask me out, we never went.   She still talks to me though. She too has had phones cut off, electricity cut off, always in financial trouble.  Her excuse for this business is that she is bipolar.

What's a third cousin?
Or even a second cousin?

I know what a first cousin is.
I will ask my cousin's husband
he's in the Army and he was there... I'll ask what things he liked to get.  Also my pastor at my church has son over there. Will ask what she sends
My cousin went to Vegas for her
second marriage with just her brother and sister-in-law as attendants, then had a reception when they got back.
My cousin did this a year ago
tried to recruit me.  The real turn off was the smell and having to buy stuff every month.
So I have a first cousin and his son, I thought,
would be my second cousin. Talk about confusing. What is the son of my first cousin to me, anyone?
ummm so your husband is your cousin??
nm
LOL, note that she said the cousin is now not that stable.....
Thanks to Auntie??? ; ) lol
Too funny.Your cousin might be my friend!
My friend & her hubby have just joined Team National. (Okay TN members don't bombard me if it works for you fine). They have just joined and paid $2100 for a lifetime membership, I think. Anyway trying to recruit children and inlaws and the whole county. Too funny. They each are extremely busy with thier own private businesses, her with a bakery and him with a construction business, and they have a hobby that they pour money into and are busy with. They are not rich or comfy by no means, but they have jumped on this band wagon. Going for it big time because some local people have done it and apparently suceeded. "Oh you and he should get in to this you can make the money now, you can really pay off all your bills...so and so has quit her job, paid off thier vehicles and thier credit cards, now they are working on thier mortgage. She kept at me about it and trying to get me interested and I just cut her off and said I'm happy for you and all but when you pay off your bills and you can quick baking cakes and he quits building little bildings and you get money coming in, then you call me. SHOW ME! Have not heard a word out of them about it since. Think they have forgotten all about the business too. Its like a diet, whatever's popular at the moment, except there's a lot more to loose than fat!

If it's selling so good and it's such a good business to be in loosing you as one client will not affect her any! Stand your ground. You've listened to it a lot longer than I would.
No, but I found out a distant cousin
was a senator of Vermont, and also have a first cousin who helps on paleontology digs, and his name, even picture, shows up on a Google search for that. It's his second job, though. He does EMS as his real job, but one time part of his body got on film on a show for Nova, LOL. I've only met him a couple times in my life.

It's interesting to find out about relatives you don't know or hardly know through the internet.
My cousin is Carrie Underwood..
His family is in Oklahoma, where she's from.  She's a distant cousin.  A friend's sister went to HS with Julia Roberts...
My cousin hunts, southern but don't know
how that fits into taking sausage balls with him when he goes hunting as he doesn't do that, might just be what your husband likes instead of being a so called southern thing but back to the hunting- my cousin married for 30+ years, went hunting all the time but met another woman and decided did not want to spend the rest of his life with the 30+ years wife and 2 grown kids so left and eventually married the other. He also spent loads of time away from home going to huh, meetings. I would be most concerned if hubby spending lots of time away from me. I think some men are into their things- such as his not wanting you to wear his T-shirts, etc. Seems like the problems you 2 are having are more than just a cooking pan.
This sounds a lot like my cousin's daughter
When she was 2 the docs thought she might be autistic. She would completely ignore everybody and refused to talk. She would just sit and play by herself. They took her to some specialist and read every book they could. My cousin actually enrolled her in gymnastics, which made her come out of her shell. She also would always make eye contact with her daughter to make sure that she was listening to her and actually turn her daughter's head to make her interact with her when she was talking to her. For whatever reason, these two things worked miracles. She's 3 now and a completely different child! She's very interactive and will talk a stranger's ear off now and is just the sweetest little girl.
my cousin who is 6Ɖ'/280 lb is named HERB!
I've always said it with the H simply because of my cousin's name. He is named Herbert, Herb for short, so it is very hard for me to think of cilantro as an erb.
Agree there should be some oversight. My cousin
homeschools her kids. She uses material from a private school and they work 4 hours a day. He is only 6, but one of the brightest kids I have ever met. They do field trips and everything. Also, her husband is a pastor, so the child is very involved in social activities. If done with the commitment needed, it can be a good thing.
What about my father's cousin's kid? I thought he

I agree--my cousin told me she ...

And squirting milk on a cousin of his is not normal either
just amaze yourself and read some of this nut's posts. Un-b-liv-able.....
My cousin had fraternal twins - boy and girl

They fought like cats and dogs when they were young. Major sibling rivalry. I've heard of even identical twins hating each other. Weird.

I think what you said below is the key - you can't control their feelings, but you can certainly control what they say when they are around you. You have to set limits on acceptable ways of expressing themselves - "I'm really angry at my sister" is okay, but "I hate my sister" is not okay, for example.

You're doing fine. Follow your instincts. Read the responses here and listen to what feels right and ignore the rest. You know your son better than anyone. I am confident you will handle the situation just fine.

My cousin had a bypass, take it 1 day at a time, and do what the doc tells you. nm

Actually, I recall my brother and cousin being drafted for Vietnam
and they served 18 month "tours". They were actually in the army longer, but were in Vietnam for 18 months when they were drafted. I'm sure they would have rather not done that extra 6 months!

My father, his brother, and their contemporaries in World War II, however, were drafted for "the duration". They weren't coming home until the war was over. My dad said it was one heck of an incentive to fight hard. It makes me cry to think of my gentle, kind father in that situation.
Agree, my cousin works in a similar type of school
a grammar school no less, and kids are doing sexual acts in the stairwells, etc. It is a very screwed up world where age 11 has become the new 18; passing gas is the least of our worries.

Hi; I was born and raised here, only went to college in California, my cousin recently......sm
bought a beautiful big house and land in North Carolina near the Virgina border, so much more for the $$$$, great area, I don't know about jobs because her husband is older and can take an early retirement, but it is very temperate there, usually lovely weahter, and not AS MUGGY in the summer as it is if you go further south, and also the seacoast is gorgeous. Hope this helps, God Bless, at least the days are getting longer here, it is actualy 53 degrees as I write this, I think the Winters get longer every year, though, in New England, even though I love NE. Take Care!
My husband is 7.5 years younger. Been together almost 20 happy years...nm
nm
My feelings; people shacking up together for years and years
and then all of a sudden deciding to get married don't need a thing, obviously. A shower should not even be given. I lived with my now husband a while (nowadays who doesn't!) before we married and I also had been married before years ago but he was not....so of course HIS mom wanted a shower. I told her absolutely not unless it was just the immediate family, his mom, sisters, etc, more like a celebration/get together. And so that's what we did. Showers are tacky, period. Unless it's a couple of young kids getting married straight out of the house and that doesn't happen much anymore.
Been with a man 13 years older, now with a man 4 years younger.
Younger is better, at least in my case ;)
Sorry, meant 75 cents. Still, that was years and years ago.

I studied to be a scopist years and years ago
Back in the early 1990s I took a course called Note reader Scopist. They read court reporter notes (those long skinny papers that looks like a cash receipt) and types them into documents. I had found the course through something called At Home Professions but just didn't finish it because it was too expensive for me. But I am familiar with them and even found my book from the first course I took. Looking back I think it would have been a blast if I had kept up with it.

It is definitely legitimate. A lot has changed since the early 90s, so I'm not too familiar with the industry now. I do remember what was really weird was it didn't take a lot for me to learn it. For instance I could look at a line of court notes and see something that looked like: NV p srn - and I seemed to know exactly what it said. Just weird. My DH used to say that I understood it because I was an alien and my ship crashed in Roswell. HA HA HA Anyway...that's what I know about it. But if you Google note reader scopist or at home professions i'm sure you could probably find a lot of info.
I have been vegetarian on/off for 35 years, was vegan for about 5 years sm
not that hard. Right now, I am having so many issues with food allergies and celiac disease, having to give up nightshade veggies...nothing left to eat. I am eating some meat now, but not when the gastroparesis sets in!

Being vegan is not hard...unless you are a celiac. This is how I figured out the celiac part because so many of the meat analogs and vegan packaged foods use gluten for the protein and I got really sick from it. I gave up all the premade things and the whole grains with gluten and I was fine.

There is vegan and then there is VE-GAN. By definition, vegans don't wear, use or consume anything that is derived of animals...no leather shoes, most shampoos and toothpastes are off the list, as are deodorants. No wool or silk. Anything with soap usually has animal byproducts. It is very involved and rather difficult to do.

Giving up meat, eggs and dairy is no big deal, except for cheese. You hear that ad about "comfort proteins" in a baby formula and there is such a thing. Mother's milk, be it human, cow, goat, whatever...contains a chemical that triggers the release of endorphins in the brain so that feeding feels good in more ways than one. The purpose of this is ensure that the nursed young want to nurse and thrive. Human milk has a lot of these, so does cow's milk and cow juice triggers the same reaction in the adult human brain. Cheese is concentrated milk and therefore these chemicals are also concentrated. As a result, cheese is an addictive substance. This is the hardest thing to give up when going vegan. Vegan cheese substitutes are nasty and they don't melt. If a dairy-free cheese melts, it contains casein, an animal protein and not vegan.
I studied this years and years and years ago
Most definitely is legitimate. In the late 1980s I studied to be a note reader scopist through a group called At Home Professions. I loved it, but unfortunately could not continue due to no funds. It was reading the court reporters notes which looked like a grocery receipt with a bunch of letters scattered on it. The weird thing was I found it extremely easy. For instance I would see a line that looked like: av e cr, and for some reason I would know what it said. My DH told me that's because I'm an alien and my ship landed in Roswell. HA HA. Well I know that a lot has changed, after all it's been over 20 years since I took the first course and know a lot of it is computerized now, but it is most definitely legitimate and I've heard people like to do it. I think I remember one of the courses was in medical terminology and another course was in legal terminology. Should be able to find a lot of it on google, or maybe go to your local college if they offer it and talk to an instructor.
