Mothers of HIV children and news I got this morning

My daughter is now 35. My daughter has had HIV since 1992. She is a grown woman and she makes her own decisions; however this morning as I was asking her about how to pack meds for a trip I am going on as I figured she knew being as she had gone last year on a vacation, she advised me that she has not taken her meds since the year she was married, 2001! To say I was shocked was an understatement. I know out of those years I had asked if she were seeing her doctor and some time in those years slipped by without the visits like I thought she should be having. However she tells me this morning she does not tell me everything, especially if she thinks I might fuss at her. She had stunned silence this morning when she told me and we could not talk om depth as she was at her job but she did tell me she would talk with me later about this if I wanted to. She tells me the medicine is really toxic and her numbers have been fine during this period of time. I am wondering, are there other mothers out there like me with a loved one who is not taking their medicine and how are they doing? I know she is grown and I do not tell her how to live her life nor do I tell her about she should take her medicine- that is a person's own right but I am concerned, of course.

I saw this on the news this morning.
Wasn't this at Marshall. My niece is a freshman there. I am in Bluefield, VA. We are all praying for her.
I saw it on the news this morning
at around 8:30 EST. What a shocking tragedy for the family and team at this time that they expected to be the most exciting of their lives, probably.

That and the story on John Edwards. He sure is an odd one.
What the news this morning said -
That as of this year for sure one of the girls was in another competition and was listed as 14 and now she is 16 because that is what her passport says...I heard there are 3 in question who are said to be 14.  I can *say* I am 19 and get a passport from somewhere to say as much, but does it mean I am not really 44??
Came out in news this morning that the
divorce papers say they have been separated for 2 years.
It was on the local news this morning.
There is this contractor in Cleveland, OH (I think) that was doing some remodeling work on this woman's house. He tore down a bathroom wall and the wall was stuffed with $182,000.00 of old money. The money is worth a lot more now.

Ok, here's the kicker. The contractor said he could have kept the money and not say anything to the homeowner, but he would have felt guilty. So, instead, he's suing her for the money siting a "finder's keeper's" law. The woman offered him 10% of either the money or the value of the money and he turned it down.

Me thinks he's kinda greedy. I say that this money was in the wall of a house that someone else owned and that it belongs to the homeowner.

Oh and he also hammered out some more walls, without the homeowner's permission, looking for more money.

JERK!!

Just to lighten things up - this morning's news - sm
SPAM (the canned meat) is back, factory working overtime, two shifts. Only Christmas and Thanksgiving off. Remember Monty Pythom and Spamalot? One of the workers said he was glad to be working but doesn't think he could eat it. Before we knew what was in it, used to have Spam and eggs. I guess it's not that healthy but history repeating itself? Gotta keep it on the light side. A little humor helps sometimes.
Read really good news on reverse this morning
including FHA which is for only over age 62 and which is insured. With anything people need to check these out. There are really good ones out there and thanks for bringing this up again.
mothers day
how sweet. I have some of my kids friends, who send me gifts for mother's day and they are so sweet. They have given me pics framed of a special tie we spent together or they have given me certificates for Spa day, (my favorite one yet),and then I had one send me flower basket, I am sure whatever you decide it will be special
Mothers!

You are known by the company you keep.

Do you want a whipping?  ( oh, of course I do!)

mothers
you know, I didn't take it way. she said she is doing for her mother, I just assumed she needs to let it out and it would be better here than at her mother.
Ladies, please tell your mothers this
If they are in the midst of a divorce after all these years, they can get a very good lawyer and have most all their husbands have made or have. I know this for a fact, happened to my cousin. A wife after this long of a marriage (could be even less) gets money from not only what he brings home but can got after any homes (they have to either be sold and money divided or she might even get), they can go after any IRAs the male has, any savings, bank accts and even insurance money- say a guy has a 500,000 insurance on his life- in case of his death the longtime wife can even get half of that! A good lawyer gets good money for the wife- do not sit back and let them accept pennies- they can come out smelling like a rose. I have known scorned wifes who have sued for alleniation of affections in courts (old, old terms but your mothers probably heard of it) and won millions against insurance carrier of people involved. Ladies, please tell your mothers about the above, don’t let her settle for crumbs after all these years!
Helicopter Mothers
My friend was talking about helicopter mothers today (I like the term!) and I asked her if her mother was like that. She said NO! Was mine? NO! Then we tried to think of childhood friends whose mothers were like that, and we couldn't think of a one. But we both know several women our age or younger who seem to hover over their children, small or GROWN! I feel sorry for those kids.

Are you one, or do you know one? Was your mother one? Did your childhood friends have helicopter moms?

Stay at home mothers

Dont you just love this. Just saw an article on stay at home mothers and how much they should be paid for their work week, think they said $183,000 plus- get this- they were saying how much time they put in each week for their work, how hard it was and the interviewing showing scads of mothers with their children at the play grounds, swinging, running around, just seemed to be having a good ole time to me. Ah, just to be a stay at home mother, nothing like that hard work!

Mothers Day gift ideas
Also try www.vermontteddybear.com -- I got one for V-day from my SO and he is darling and ordered 2 for my aunts, one who was diagnosed recently with cancer and another for her b-day -- cute little tropical girls :) and their delivery is WONDERFUL!!!!
I think that women have issues because of their mothers.
I know I have some, but try to realize what I am doing.
we were born to mothers who smoked and drank
our cribs were covered in lead based paint. .And we turned out okay. . Your MIL would not EVER knowingly do anything to harm your child. . but 9 months old seems a little young - if she were older and could sit up and hold on, and MIL drove real slow, maybe it would be okay. . My dad used to take my daughter rides on the tractor - I worried but never said anything - it didn't happen often. . I think she should have asked you first.
Another country heard from...guilty mothers
who think only material things make their little one happy, have to get affirmation and praise for every decision they make...your poor husbands!
See, I knew if I posted after the noon news it would be different after the evening news! LOL nm

Children having children not a new thing, where do you live?
My son, who is now in his early 40s, told me years ago when in high school about all the teenage mothers that were at his school and said they brought the babies to school, and he seemed to think it was like the girls having playdolls like when you were little. This is not new and apparently folks think alright to have their children sans marriage, be it preteens, teens or adults. I guess my years alone do not make me shocked at anything anymore. Others talk about this job being isolated and your post says some of this if you were shocked at what the son said.
I should mention that I am 42, have 2 children and done with having children. nm
nm
You must a) not have children or b) your children are young
I don’t see them as being spoiled- I see lots of kids in the age group of one (30+) who are totally in the me scene, not just the 1 I have- she married and her husband same - a me type person. The other not spoiled but just got nasty when he did not get the money left to me and he thought he should. Just to think, this was my chosen 1 if I had to choose. Oh well, live and let live is the way I see things now.
My morning

My 9-year-old son was late for school and had to run upstairs and get his homework.  He was running down the stairs, which he has been told a million times not to, when he slipped on the carpeted steps and proceeded to glide down about ten stairs.  I heard the ruckus and went running towards the sound of disaster.  There lay my son in a heap on the ground holding his side and moaning as loud as he possibly could.  I kept asking what happened and my daughter was more than happy to give me the play by play (with every adjective possible), but her words were muffled under the sounds of his moans.  I thought he must of hit the banister, as he was holding his side in the fetal position, but no one could actually hear my questions over my daughter’s story and his moans, so as loud as I could I bellowed, “What did you hit?”  All of a sudden, my daughter’s rendition stopped, as well as my son’s loud moaning, and all got quiet.  My son looked up at me and very seriously, with a look of utter disgust, said, “The ground!”  In a little under 2 seconds I realized what a silly question that was, but what a great answer!!!  I have just chuckled over this all morning and thought I would share it with all the mothers out there!

P.S.  He is absolutely fine, thankfully, and I do believe making his mother feel like a dimwit was the cure-all!!!!

She ate a little this morning sm
I got her to eat this morning when I handfed her (which made me late to start working but I figured what the heck).  Then I thought I would try the cream cheese trick and she took it in her mouth but dropped it and then got mad at me and ran away then tried to pee on the entertainment center.  *smile*  But no pee came out - so she was either just showing her displeasure or has no pee (which isn't good).  Anyway, that is the update so far today.  Thanks you all for your support.
Morning, oh most definitely morning!

I'm one of those tools that's always chipper in the morning doing the ol' "daylight's a' burnin" thing and annoying the heck out of the partying folk who don't get started until noontime.

Definitely morning...
I start at 5 a.m., take a break from 6:30-7:40 to get the kids up, ready and off to school, then work until I get finished for the day, usualy in time to watch GH before I have to go pick up the kids, but sometimes not!
It was on GMA this morning...
?
How many of us are up this morning? (sm)
It's 4:45 am!
I know!! I saw that this morning!!!! Wow, how sad is that??? nm
x
Thanks, this morning it was gone sm
didn't look like any disturbance in the area but I wish I could have known 100% for sure that the bunny is back home!! I think he or she is, but wish I knew for sure.
GMA this morning...sm
Did anyone catch Boyz II Men on GMA this morning?  They were great!  Did the oldie *I'll Be There*, sorry don't know who originally did it, but they did a great job, including all the moves...really good little concert!
They said to me this morning
"Well, why didn't you call us?". My response was, "With four of you in the room, NONE of you thought to say 'Hmmm..I wonder if she got the text'?"
Take it in the morning
I am currently pregnant. I took a test in the PM because I didn't want to wait either. I was certain I was pregnant as we had been trying. That test was neg. I waited 2 days and took another test in the AM and it was positive. If you really want to be sure you can call your doctor and see if you can come in for labs only and get the blood test. That will tell you for certain without any questions and most will do that without a problem and they can run it STAT if you request.
What a morning!

I have spent the last 5 minutes trying to get a "hair" off the side of my coffee mug.  Turns out it is a crack.  Then I tried to scratch my back with my pen and the pen fell into my shirt and I can't find it.  It has to be in there somewhere, right?

Do I need new glasses?  Is Alzheimer's setting in?  Oh wait, it's Monday...never mind.

My morning's no better --

My husband took today and tomorrow off to get the trimwork painted for our new house.  It needs to be done by this weekend -- about 10 bundles of 24 pieces each.

Anyway, we get up this morning and find out the kids don't have school today -- something mechanical at their school needs fixed.  Then, we were expecting a delivery today for the new house from Lowe's around lunchtime.  The guys called this morning at 8 o'clock and said they're at our new house waiting for our signature.

Anything else?  Oh yeah, I really don't feel motivated to get my lines in -- UGGGHHHH!

Morning Sickness
With my first daughter I didn't have any at all. I guess I was lucky. With my second daughter I had evening sickness. LOL. The only thing that would help with a cup of decaffeinated tea. It lasted I believe just a few weeks. Good luck with your pregnancy.
Third report of the morning...
Doctor starts to spell patient's name...D - i - g, as in Zebra.  Yes, he's an ESL and it's too early in the morning for this!
I saw this earlier this morning, as well--sm
and on my start page, they actually showed a picture of the poor puppy! I was appalled at what I consider to be a lenient sentence for inflicting nothing but anger and hatred on a poor defensless animal. Unfortunately, treating these types of people the same way they treat other beings constitutes a crime and violates *their* rights, and would instill a punishment on us far worse than what he received. However, if it was possible to inflict on him the same as he inflicted, I would be the first in line to do so!!! I highly doubt one of his punishments of 48 hours of counseling is going to undo what is screwed up in his brain! But I would surely love to be his *counselor*.
Neither did DD who asked me this morning (sm)
Didn't even know what to tell her exactly.  She's a rich brat who is going to beat the legal system, that's all I know.
This morning before my first cup of coffee

"the cat threw up in the kitchen" right behind my chair!  I guess sleeping in on a Saturday doesn't pay off.  The cat ate too fast.  I guess she was famished.  Well it could be worse right?

yes, she's still in jail this morning . . . nm

Definitely morning, one of those people who can get
going even before the first cup of coffee is done brewing....unfortunately, circumstances dictate that I work an evening shift.... so I'm pretty much a zombie while I'm typing.
Morning person
This sounds exactly like me! My eyes pop open without an alarm clock at 4:30-5:00 a.m. in the morning. I have trouble keeping my eyes open past 9:00 p.m. It's nice to know I'm not the only one in the world. I get so many "that's weird you get up so early" statements, I was starting to believe them!
did someone pee in your wheaties this morning?
Yes, it was supposed to be funny, sorry you missed the humor.
We had a few flurries this morning
But as soon as it hit the ground it melted. I absolutely hate winter. I actually go into my form of hibernation. I don't leave the house (thank God for working from home) unless it's absolutely necessary. I hate snow and cold. I don't for the life of me know why I live in the snow capital of the Northeast.
Morning star
Wow! Seeing a morning star was worth all of that. I think that is awesome! Yeh, I was tempted to go to Kohls with all those commercials yesterday, but my MT nature kicked in, I was home all day, but rested and got lots of laundry done, even cleaned the garage. Now, I don't feel guilty about neglecting a chore here or there. I'll think of something fun to do tomorrow. I hope it's as good as seeing a morning star. :)
Wow! Where are you? We got 1/2 an inch this morning
s
I never do this. But if you want to be beyond blessed this morning, please sm

email me and I will forward you this amazingly adorable thing about DOGS.  I am not really a dog person, but after that, I am now! sniff sniff

I would love to share this with everyone. I rec'd it from my aunt this morning.  Looking forward to hearing from a lot of you!

Morning Radio
In the U.S., this is the most stolen over the counter medication.

Name it.

Do you have a morning slump?
Here lately I have been. It hits around 9:00-10:00. I get so sleepy. I'm sleepy now, but if I take a nap or try to sleep I'll just feel icky when I wake up. So, I'm trying to find things to do until I over come the sleepy feeling.
Crying all morning.....sm

I have been married 15 years....this morning my husband came in and said, "Eric said your storage building is ready!"  You might think I would be happy.  He thought I would be.  The problem is that in 15 years of marriage I have been able to pick out nothing. I mentioned a few weeks ago that I would like an outside storage building.  I mentioned a couple I had seen.  My husband did not discuss it with me at all but went to the neighbor and had him build a storage building. I have no idea what it will look like, no idea what size, what color, anything.  It wouldn't be such a big deal but I honestly don't get to pick anything out.

11 years ago I had just had a baby and my husband picked out our house while I was home recovering from a c-section.  He told me this was where we were going to live.  He had refused to even look at any of the houses I had liked during my pregnancy.  He told me we would remodel this house any way I wanted, get any furniture I wanted.  I was so anxious to get out of the rundown noisy apartment building we were in that I agreed to move here.  Then of course, no remodeling, no new furniture.

Three years ago I really needed a new car. My husband said he would start looking for one.  HE would start looking for one for me.  A year later HE had still not found one.  I found a used, reasonably priced car and told him I wanted to buy it.  He said no.  I told him I really needed a vehicle. It was less than $10,000.  He finally agreed but was mad at me for a year over it and told his parents that I had gone out and bought myself "a new car".  It was actually 4 years old.  A year ago he bough a boat for $10,000 that I had never even seen and brought it home and announced we had a new boat.  Six months ago he bought a $30,000 truck and took me to see it at the dealership after he had already bought it.

So now I am a b*tch for not being happy about the new storage building.  woohoo
