Hi Jaime! Where abouts in northern Arizona? I ask because I think the northern area is soooo beautiful. My husband, son, and I love to spend time in Sedona every year, and would love to live there.

My Gators are going to Arizona
My Gators are going to Arizona on 1/8/07 to play Ohio State for the National Championship!!!!!! I am so excited!

(Honestly, after watching OSU play this season, I've got serious doubts if we'll beat them, but hey - it's not every year you get to play for the ring!)

Who will be watching with me??????

What bowl game are you excited about and when is it?

I am looking forward to the Sugar Bowl, as well, because I'm a Notre Dame fan, too.

I may be wrong, but did not Arizona also
decide they would not have day light saving time? I thought them but could be another state. Maybe they just like to opt out on most things.
You have to admire Arizona.
A state that opts out of daylight savings time! Love that.

That is where my sister lives. I wish my state would opt out of daylight savings time.
The Arizona Cardinals -- but man I was
hoping for the Eagles to play the Steelers -- can't help it -- I'm in PA.

So far we are running as normal. My two high school kids start at 7:45, get out at 2:38. My 7 year old gets picked up at 8:20 to be taken to the elementary school. My youngest isn't in school yet so no worries with him. Our school district has 2 elementary schools - one for K-3, the other for 4-6. The elementary kids do all ride the same bus (K-6) with the middle school being dropped off before the younger elementary kids. Our vacation schedule is usually about 10-11 days off over Christmas with Thursday through Monday off for Easter break, although this year they only had Friday through Monday off because of needing to make up a snow day. As far as summer, it's kind of funny this year. My oldest son graduates high school May 30 which is a Saturday and my 7 year old has to go to school the following Monday because the elementary kids had a snow day over the winter that the high school kids didn't. I would definitely go to the meeting and voice your concerns. I would be concerned as well with all the kids riding together. The older kids have a big influence on the younger kids and not always a good one. Hope this all works out for you.
First snowfall of the season here in Northern NJ. Anyone else?
Woke up this morning to howling wind and snow covered grass and cars.  Now big wet flakes coming down.  I am not ready for this yet.

I had a similar thing happen on I-40 in Arizona once - sm
I was driving from SF to New Mexico, and since I hadn't been on I-40 before, it was all new to me, and I wanted to keep going. I dumbly passed the last town for MILES, and then it was dark. Was dead-tired, but had to keep going. I kept hallucinating and seeing people standing by the road, and also animals - cows, horses, bears, etc. I'd look once, think I saw it, then look again and it'd be gone, or else be a cactus or a rock or something. (Those saguaros DO look alot like people!). Further down the road I passed a yellow sign that said 'Watch For Animals', and remember thinking to myself, 'Wow! I guess someone else has been hallucinating, too!'

Not surprisingly, that very next morning is the day I first started drinking COFFEE.

So if due to the COST of water, (especially when heated by expensive gas!), I already treat it like gold, and use as little of it as possible, I wonder what now? Bathe only once every OTHER week? Let all the plants die, and become kindling for the next wildfire here in the hills? Use the gray water from the washing machine to wash my dishes? (Oh wait - I already do that).

So yea, I feel the same way about the frugality thing. Everyone's so scared of a depression - yet we MT's have been living in one for at least the past 10 years. I've cut back so far that there's not much left to give up, other than eating at ALL, sleeping in an apartment building instead of my car, or finding a way to generate my own power source and get off the grid.

Yea, my little black heart just BLEEDS NOTHING BUT STONES for all those rich CEOs whining about having to give back their million-dollar bonuses.
nothing - it is almost 70 already. Gonna be a nice 80-degree day! I love Arizona!
