Consider using fresh herbs. So fresh
and spring-y. :oD

I love fresh sage with pork. I especially love pork chops. Great, now I'm hungry.

is a site set up by some employees of my sister's business who stole her ideas and many of her customers to start their own business. You can use them if you want but personally I think that kind of thing stinks.

If you want to go to a good scrapbooking site, go to Keeping Memories Alive or KMA. They invented scrapbooking. I think they have just sold their business but they have some pretty good discounts going right now.
Pasta and peas...
When I'm in a bind, like tonight, I take 2 jars of Bertolli alfredo sauce, add a little white wine and garlic powder and a little milk to stretch it, add frozen baby sweet peas and some ham, sometimes I get sliced and sometimes I get a ham steak.  Let it cook a little and toss with linguine, top with parm, get a bag of salad and you're good to go.  yummmm
Peas haven't sprouted up yet.
Good thing since the weather is being crazy with the random snow and hail.

Hi Jaime! Where abouts in northern Arizona? I ask because I think the northern area is soooo beautiful. My husband, son, and I love to spend time in Sedona every year, and would love to live there.

So far we are running as normal. My two high school kids start at 7:45, get out at 2:38. My 7 year old gets picked up at 8:20 to be taken to the elementary school. My youngest isn't in school yet so no worries with him. Our school district has 2 elementary schools - one for K-3, the other for 4-6. The elementary kids do all ride the same bus (K-6) with the middle school being dropped off before the younger elementary kids. Our vacation schedule is usually about 10-11 days off over Christmas with Thursday through Monday off for Easter break, although this year they only had Friday through Monday off because of needing to make up a snow day. As far as summer, it's kind of funny this year. My oldest son graduates high school May 30 which is a Saturday and my 7 year old has to go to school the following Monday because the elementary kids had a snow day over the winter that the high school kids didn't. I would definitely go to the meeting and voice your concerns. I would be concerned as well with all the kids riding together. The older kids have a big influence on the younger kids and not always a good one. Hope this all works out for you.
First snowfall of the season here in Northern NJ. Anyone else?
Woke up this morning to howling wind and snow covered grass and cars.  Now big wet flakes coming down.  I am not ready for this yet.

So if due to the COST of water, (especially when heated by expensive gas!), I already treat it like gold, and use as little of it as possible, I wonder what now? Bathe only once every OTHER week? Let all the plants die, and become kindling for the next wildfire here in the hills? Use the gray water from the washing machine to wash my dishes? (Oh wait - I already do that).

So yea, I feel the same way about the frugality thing. Everyone's so scared of a depression - yet we MT's have been living in one for at least the past 10 years. I've cut back so far that there's not much left to give up, other than eating at ALL, sleeping in an apartment building instead of my car, or finding a way to generate my own power source and get off the grid.

Yea, my little black heart just BLEEDS NOTHING BUT STONES for all those rich CEOs whining about having to give back their million-dollar bonuses.
Well, it's gotten cold enough to burn the fireplace. I'm in northern AZ. How bout you?

Weather
It's 27 degrees here in Upstate NY with a lot of snow. It's a heat wave for us today. LOL.
Weather in NY
This coming week in Upstate NY it's going to be 95 and possibly above. It should get a little warmer in Lake George, I would think...possibly? It's always a lot of fun in Lake George. When I was young, we went there very year on vacation for many years.
Squiters ain't as bad as the below 0 weather..sm
guess I just can't take the humidity and the heat though. I had been to VA beach and it seemed fine to me..not dirty or ugly..I liked it. The women there will steal your husbands if you ain't lookin' though...lost my husband, my home, and had to go through Isabel all alone. Came runnin' back home to WI as soon as divorce courts would allow. bad memories, I guess. some people like it...some people don't. I am one that don't. sorry. but I did love Shenandoah Valley...gorgeous area! Love the mountains!

bad weather in Atlanta
My sister lives there but they just got a lot of thunder and some rain, northeast of Atlanta. I hate to even hear the word.  I hope it quietens there soon for you.
Are you WA state? I am and you just described our weather!
My kids keep asking me to put on the heater but I don't want to because this is when I'm supposed to be SAVING money on electricity. I wonder if the mountain snow is a record of latest lower-land snow? This year has been CRAZY weather!
It's been in the low 70's. Beautiful weather. Come on down!

Weather was just too gorgeous today.
I went outside in a sleeveless shirt to decide how to dress to walk the dogs, and ended up tidying up the yard instead! Won't my neighbors be relieved, LOL.

Yes, the dogs eventually got their walk, but first I fed them. Sasha decided not to eat tonight ... until I explained that we'd go for a walk only after she ate. She ate it right up and then did her time-for-my-walk dance!

Hope this weather makes it up north soon.
It is hot upstate, definitely swim weather, sm
You tend to have cooler temps over there. Upstate and across the river, much warmer.
Hmmm, rather than warm weather, could it be
menopause? I don’t have the sweating during the night. As far as the weather, my grown daughter told me one time if she had been born where there was snow (as you are talking about) as soon as she grew up she would get outta there- it is just what you prefer. I have only been snowed in twice in the past say 15 years and that is fine with me. Oh, I do enjoy the soup and salad at Olive Garden- and eat without sweating.
Where do you live that it is snow weather?

It's been close to 90 almost all week here in central PA.  My DH loves snow and is ready to move north.

LOL! If you don't like the weather in Georgia, just hang around SM
a while and it will change soon!
How's the weather in your neck of the woods?
Mid 70s here in the Northeast with bright warm sunshine! Woo Hoo ! It's a doozy of a day.
What is the weather, What is the price, size, etc. sm
I am freezing up here. Would love to be able to buy and not rent.
Actually, I never even thought about using fresh
chicken (the girl who gave me the recipe said to use the canned chicken undrained). It probably would be even better with the fresh chicken and some of the broth. I was just passing on what was a very good recipe. Anyway, have a good day!
Then you might want to try some fresh stuff.
I just made a turkey breast today that was very tasty. In a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, I chopped up some fresh rosemary, thyme, sage, and a couple cloves of crushed garlic. Then, I just rubbed that onto the (skinless) turkey breast.

I oven-roasted that with some vegetables, but you could put that on chicken breasts and bake or grill them. They'd be good either way.

Good luck!
Thank you for the breath of fresh air
and the very nice comment to both of us. We really have hurt no one and have found someone who mutually shares the love of animals, as I am sure so many of you do. I spoke just last week to a lovely MT who has a little Pekinese named Sophie. We had a great conversation about that. With an elderly very ill parent this board has given me something to focus on and relieve some fear and tension. Thanks again. You comments are truly appreciated.
fresh towels
I use Gain detergent, the regular kind. Has a really nice smell. We live by ocean so our towels get musty smelling quite easily.
used to eat fresh dough but...sm
Was warned not to do this or let kids do it if the dough contained egg, very bad to eat raw, so cut out the licking of the spoon. I know most cookies don't have egg, but we were addicted to all batter. No longer lick the spoons when done.
Fresh coconut!

I had a hankerin for a coconut a few weeks ago so I bought one.  Hadn't had one since I was a kid.  I drilled the holes in the 'eyes' and drank the coconut juice inside.  Then I pryed out the meat, meticulously peeled the brown junk off it with a knife, and ate a whole bunch.  Okay, my husband and I both at the whole thing in one sitting it was sooooo yummy!  The next day...well, all I'm gonna say is that I am thankful we have 2 bathrooms and were fully stocked on TP.  We weren't sick mind you, just incredibly cleaned out.  The coconut juice, which only I drank, acted like a diuretic and I think I peed every hour on the hour--and incredible amount each time at that.

I have chronic constipation too because I hate to drink water.  I tend to stay borderline dehydrated myself.  The chemical laxatives just plain wreak havoc and are very painful and inconvenient to put it nicely.  I'd go with better diet, water, and fruits before I'd go with pills if at all possible.  Hope she feels better soon!

me too! breath of fresh air.
except for maybe the typo-gestapo. but even that has faded.

BREATH OF FRESH AIR
I think MTStars is Breath of Fresh Air after change in administration. This thread is staying on board is proof of it. MTStars was personal forum rather public board beofre.

I was sick of HER, deleting every other thread and banning those who expressed their opinions that wasn't acceptable for her.

I don't bring my dog anywhere around food, unless it's nice weather and

the tables and chairs.  It is allowed where I live.  I have never seen anyone bring their dog into the grocery store unless it is an assist dog,  I do bring my dog in her stroller into the mall and I have yet to have gotten kicked out over it.  Children LOVE to look at my dog in the stroller. It is the type of stroller that has a screen on it so children can look and parents are not fearful that my dog would bite.  My dog doesn't bite but it's an added precaution.

In comparison, my dog is friendly, is not a yapper, is well groomed, and potty trained.  I have seen many, many children who are ill behaved, running around uncontrollably and I've several times passed by babies in strollers who smell like their diaper hasn't been changed in a week.

To the person who supposedly has the severe allergy, I say this...If you have such a severe allergy to dogs, then you most likely have severe allergies to a bunch of other stuff, too, and like the other poster said, you could just as easily be allergic to passing by the perfume counter as you would my 4 lb. chihuahua.

Lastly, to the OP, you need a lesson in manners. Even if you don't agree with the dog being in the store, you shouldn't have gotten ugly with the owner.  She was minding her business, why didn't you just mind yours?

"Baghdad" update: crummy weather!
Our weekend in SF was unseasonably crummy - even for San Francisco! I was in Golden Gate Park on Sunday: Fog, drizzle, & wind. Bah!
I hear ya! I am waiting for at least sweater weather.
Doesn't look like it's coming soon.
Wow talk about extremes! What wacky weather! nm

Putting cold weather to good use.
This morning I made home-made chicken stock in my pressure cooker. It's now been strained and is sitting on the back steps in a metal pot. It's only 18 degrees outside, so it shouldn't take long for the fat to come to the top and solidify, which is something I usually have to do overnight in the fridge. I should be having some nice soup for dinner or late afternoon snack today!
We have very changeable weather, lots of extremes.
It can be blazing hot and humid in the summer, and well below freezing in the winter. I'm also a backpacker and am very used to hiking and sleeping in the winter woods, down on the ground with snow all around. I love that, but I'm always prepared for it. At home, I keep the thermostat at 62 during the daytime when I'm home alone. I wear fleece pants and wool sweaters and vests, and I'm usually comfortable. It's 18 outside today, but my heater hasn't come on once except for the morning wake-up when it automatically goes up to 70 for an hour or so. At 3:00 it'll kick up to 68 until 10:00 p.m., and then we sleep through the night back at 62. I couldn't do that if DH were home during the day. He likes the house much warmer than I do.

My office is next to the kitchen, so I'm keeping the chill down by making soup and baking bread today. I get up for a break, knead the dough, let it rise. It's about ready to bake now. Yum!

I'm enjoying this, but I'm sure glad it won't last here for more than a few days.... I hope.

Stay warm!
Normal wear for warm weather is
cutoffs and a T shirt, cold is sweats OR my flannel PJs.
