Not arguing about the right for a business owner--sm

to refuse service to anyone, but, according to the article I read, OJ and his group came into the restaurant, sat in the back and were not causing a problem. The owner had the problem, as one of the waitresses was *giddy* that OJ was there. He specifically stated he asked OJ to leave because he did not like what OJ had done (in the past). To me, that is discrimination. He was not causing a problem. It was the owner of the restaurant who had a problem. But that is just my opinion.

I just do not think it is right that a place that is *open to the public* can ask someone to leave just because they do not like that person. If OJ had been causing a problem, that would have been different, but he was not. It was all the owners feelings about the man. that's all.

However, this thread is taking an ugly turn and since I have said all I have wanted to say on the subject, I am backing out now. Have a good day.

No one is arguing that Mrs. Obama said this. Someone posted that old, tired Muslim e-mail.
That is what the "check your facts comment was about." Anyone who watches the news has seen the sound bites from Mrs. Obama's appearance this morning.
Cat Owner (lol) here..
She likes to lay under my desk, and once in a while during the day when the kids are at school, she hops up on her hind legs and taps me on the arm with her paw just to say "hey, I'm still alive here, ya' gonna type all day or pet me a while?"  She meows to get my attention.  But then of course, I'd love to be her sometimes.  She can just curl up anywhere, anytime and take a long, long nap!  I'm so jealous!  She wakes us all up in the morning meowing for something to eat.  Poor thing last night...  I poured the milk into her bowl, left it on the counter, and went upstairs to tuck the kids in, and she's just following me to their bedrooms meowing away.  I didn't know what her problem was, and when I went downstairs again, lo and behold I hadn't put the darn bowl of milk down for her.  I wonder if she'll turn me in for abuse?  What a tease that was for her I'm sure.
Cat Owner
Congratulations on your new "child". I have two cats of my own. It sounds like you have everything set for your cat while you're gone. I do all of the same things, with the exception of the radio/TV. I've left my cats alone for a week at at time for vacations and they do just fine. It's like they get a vacation too, away from my 3-1/2 year old. LOL.

How about feeding him one of the lower calorie/fat cat foods?  You could probably feed him the same amount and he wouldn't be taking in as many calories.  Did you ever try using a laser light?  If he likes it, he'll run up the walls!  Hope this helps.

Be sure you don't give him anything with aspirin in it - it is toxic to cats. Not sure about Pepcid but definitely no Pepto-Bismol.
Pet owner poll: sm

Do any of you feel that the monthly one-spot flea and tick preventions are hazardous to your pets' health?

Between my best friend and me, we had 6 dogs.  Since June, 3 of them developed cancers, 2 of whom died.  The common denominator is Frontline.   Her dog was only 4, and my 2 were 10 and 8.   Her dog had a leiomyosarcoma.  Mine had squamous cell sarcoma and the other had undifferentiated giant cell sarcoma.  We both live in Florida where fleas and ticks can be a big problem.

Two other friends claim they don't give their dogs these preventatives because they were told they were poisonous to dogs, the advice coming from holistic vets.

What are your thoughts and experiences, and where do you live?

Thanks.

gift for owner
How about a pillar candle tied up in tulle with a gorgeous bow? (If you can't make a bow, these are available in stores.) She won't care that you didn't spend a lot, but love you for thinking about her. Or, even less expensive, make her a batch of homemade candy or cookies and present them in a pretty tin - everyone likes to get homemade goodies.
It is my understanding that the owner of the --sm
property has the right to ask anyone to leave. It is their property and they do not OWE you to live there, even if you have been there all your life. If you are paying less rent than the average renter, I can see why he is doing this. You may be a good tenant, but everything, these days, comes down to dollars and cents. He may not have to do too much to "renovate," but he can get a much bigger price in rent. I really don't think you have a leg to stand on and I am sorry for your situation, but the owner can do anything they want to with their property.
A responsible owner would never allow...sm
Their pitbull to wander around public. That is why we have attacks. Owners should be responsible and keep them as well as any dog in a fenced in yard. Or if out in public on a leash. Mine will never be wandering around in public on its own. That is totally irresponsible. If I saw a pitbull out in public I would be cautious myself.
The fence did not cause the dog to die. The owner did by not making sure
the batteries were changed on a regular basis.   The fence and the dog are blameless.  The only one who had any control over the situation dropped the ball....poor dog.
If the owner feels their being there could cause a problem

I am the renter..NOT the owner of the house

TAIB - Owner reply
This is not my company that is being named here - I am the sole owner of TAIB and have been nor plan to be associated with another company.  Our MTs are paid on time and we do not have the problems mentioned in this chain of email.  If Heda would like to contact me for clarification, I would be happy to speak to him/her.  Otherwise I would request an apology - Sincerely, Penny Jackson Pray - Owner of TAIB - Transcription At Its Best, Inc.

? gifts for new puppy owner sm
She just bought a new Springer Spaniel. Would like to make her a little basket and wonder if anyone else has a Springer. I don't like gift cards, too impersonal.
not entirely true - Trump is pageant co-owner. n/m

Point is the owner thinks it's fine so why not?!
Same for dogs or cats or birds or snakes.

Having a pet is a personal choice and it should be kept on personal property or areas specifically designed FOR having pets.

cat owner and just built a house 3 years ago -
I used 2000 sq feet of tile that is mottled with several colors and then 1000 sq feet of teak. I have 4 cats (one Maine Coon who is nearly as big as some dogs!) who are rough and tumble when they play. If I had it to do again I would go with a lighter color of wood floor. Teak is a medium color and does show scratches where it is darker. Just my 2 cents. Good luck. :-)
they interviewed the owner - looks like he "runs" things

put her in your yard; her owner cannot argue against your action.

Kitty cat question. I am a first time cat owner and need
She was litter box trained and then started spending more time outside (we live in the country) and stopped using the box. She probably has not used the box in 3 or 4 months. Just going outside. Now last night she went in the floor of my bedroom, and again today!! UGH. Now question - Do I put her litter box in my room in the spot where she went, just for a while and then can I move it. If I cant move it later, I dont want to put it here. Or do I leave the box where it is and put her in it tonight? Or do I leave her out at night? I just dont know what to do. Thanks in advance for any advice.
for blondie and forever pitbull owner

I thought you might like to read the below story.

That guy, the dog's owner, was Marcus Luttrell, a war hero
author of Lone Survivor.  He was the lone survivor of his Navy Seal team on a mission in Afghanistan.  This dog was given to him during his rehabilitation to help with recovery when he came home.  It just makes me sick!
I went to a strawberry pickin' farm Monday. The owner sm
told our large group of homeschoolers (both moms and dads) during our tour that he had to learn the hard way that women make THE GREATEST strawberry planters. He said he hired a bunch of men one year and that was the last time he did that. He said now they are all women - they take their time, take pride in their work, and just do something for the soil where he has huge, gorgeous berries whenever they plant them.  All the women there broke into applause. I thought it was so funny.  I just liked seeing a man actually admit to something like that.....
Time to report the owner to Animal Control if you have a

Maybe it was the owner's initial? The person who bought the jacket?

Oh SOOO cute. But please read inside for a warning (I'm a dog owner) sm

Puppies develop habits really quickly, so discourage licking the can thing.  Mine would get cans out of the garbage and one had a cut edge and he terrribly cut his mouth and tongue.  I felt like such a careless dog mom.  A true accident, but now maybe I can help you prevent the same thing?  Please excuse my post... I am not a know-it-all and I actually don't like it when someone posts something lighthearted and then someone (like me) gets kind of off topic in the thread with a reply like this one, but maybe it will help you prevent an accident.  But this is an adorable picture and I love your puppy.

This is SO not your business. sm

It you grandchild has cavities, then it is up to the parents to provide dental care.  Why you would want to deprive a young child of that age an Easter basket, I have no idea.  You seem to have issues with the exhusband, but at least he provided the magic of the season.

You are not raising this child, or are you?  In any case, thank God the father and stepmother came up to bat for the holiday.

Have your daughter take that kid to a dentist, and stash all the cavity-causing evil Easter stuff.

That is SO none of your business.
Kids can resent their parents for a multitude of reasons. Let their parents choose when to let them know.
Is it your business?
Why is it your concern that she sits in her room every night? If she pays her rent on time and doesn't break any laws or rules what is your problem? Did you want a roommate or did you want someone to control?

Obviously, you don't approve of her choices, but that does not make her weird. She isn't shooting up drugs, having a different sex partner in every night.

How much is too much alcohol? If she isn't passing out and she is going to work every day, it isn't too much. Some people think one drink is too much.

If you don't like her, just tell her that it isn't working for you and you need to find someone who fits your lifestyle. With the next roommate, be up front about your expectations - look for a Mormon who goes to the gym every day.

Frankly, you sound like a piece of work.
Oh well is right. None of your business. sm
Please don't start. Your posts sound like you're just chomping at the bit, and it would be a shame if this thread got ugly.
It probably really isn't their business...but,
I told. I think my kids appreciated that their anal mother was human too. As they got older, I told more and we all got a good laugh out of it...
It isn't my business what they do...sm
But I personally don't agree with it. I think it is just disgusting but that is my opinion.
how are they still in business?

It's their business, no one else's. At 28, she
I think people need to get out of other people's business when it comes to stuff like this. What does it matter to anyone what age difference? Both are well into adulthood. It is their choice.

I think she should mind her own business - NM
NM
Exactly. The racehorse business
is just that - a business.  They don't breed and run these horses out of the kindness of their hearts just for the fun of it.  There is a  huge amount of money involved.  The money that passes through the betting windows on a daily basis is unbelievable.  It is the same with greyhounds.  I don't care how pampered they are or  how much they are loved, they are bred to earn money and that is exploitation.

It's the Entertainment business . . .
it's always been that way. It's called American Idol, not Best Singer - you kind of need the whole package. The Idols that have won and didn't have the look have not amounted to much.
Nope. It is not your business to tell them.

Yep. Risky Business was fun but
I never found him attractive as a man, just "pretty." And I don't like pretty boys unless they have some character to back it up. And I don't mean "crazy character" like jumping on Oprah's couch! LOL
Definitely go to where someone will be happy to have your business! nm

re: housekeeping business
I think it is a very lucrative field and if you do it right you could make quite a chunk of money! However I think you need to be bonded if you're going to have alot of houses/clients to work for. Not sure how to do that. Also doing cleaning for realtors as they sell houses is good too! Used to do that and then the houses were empty, just cleaned bathrooms, carpets, walls etc....
It was a good job.

The down side is that you may end up running yourself ragged!

Let us know what you decide!
uncalled for AND NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS

Mind my business?
You rude ( I cant say on here what I would like so I will leave it to your imagination). If I was minding her business don't you think I would be calling her or going over there. No I am not. I AM minding my own business. I am well aware that a person can do what they like with a gift or card they get. But what a rude person to just put a card in a drawer that someone went to the trouble of sending. It doesn't change the fact it is rude. Don't tell me to mind my own business. You are probably one of those people who has no friends so of course you wouldn't have in insightful info on any experiences with friends. Therefore don't answer my posts. Concern for a friend does not make me clingy. Yes we talked all the time on the phone and emailed a lot. Why wouldn't I be concerned when that stopped? I have a life. I have a job, a husband, a son, and many pets. I have plenty to occupy my time. But I am not the type of person to not show concern.
If its a business letter,
I wouldn't use Thanks. It's too informal for me. I use the old standby Sincerely most often.
stores that are going out of business
I got my teenage son all new bedding. Down comforter, designer sheets, etc. There are some good sales at these stores shutting down.
And yes, he wanted an Ipod, but he sleeps all the time anyway, so have a nice bed I think!
Honestly -- it's none of your business!
