Point is the owner thinks it's fine so why not?!

Posted By: Not everyone does. on 2007-03-05
In Reply to: Now, that's just silly. Those are types of animals that can be harmful. Big difference. - nm

Same for dogs or cats or birds or snakes.

Having a pet is a personal choice and it should be kept on personal property or areas specifically designed FOR having pets.

Fine. But that wasn't my point.
There's no need to jump all over someone who wants to help.  I applaud the unselfishness.
It doesn't matter "where you stand." What works for you is fine. What works for me is fine.
Comparing ourselves as to frequency is ridiculous.
Cat Owner (lol) here..
She likes to lay under my desk, and once in a while during the day when the kids are at school, she hops up on her hind legs and taps me on the arm with her paw just to say "hey, I'm still alive here, ya' gonna type all day or pet me a while?"  She meows to get my attention.  But then of course, I'd love to be her sometimes.  She can just curl up anywhere, anytime and take a long, long nap!  I'm so jealous!  She wakes us all up in the morning meowing for something to eat.  Poor thing last night...  I poured the milk into her bowl, left it on the counter, and went upstairs to tuck the kids in, and she's just following me to their bedrooms meowing away.  I didn't know what her problem was, and when I went downstairs again, lo and behold I hadn't put the darn bowl of milk down for her.  I wonder if she'll turn me in for abuse?  What a tease that was for her I'm sure.
Cat Owner
Congratulations on your new "child". I have two cats of my own. It sounds like you have everything set for your cat while you're gone. I do all of the same things, with the exception of the radio/TV. I've left my cats alone for a week at at time for vacations and they do just fine. It's like they get a vacation too, away from my 3-1/2 year old. LOL.

How about feeding him one of the lower calorie/fat cat foods?  You could probably feed him the same amount and he wouldn't be taking in as many calories.  Did you ever try using a laser light?  If he likes it, he'll run up the walls!  Hope this helps.

Be sure you don't give him anything with aspirin in it - it is toxic to cats. Not sure about Pepcid but definitely no Pepto-Bismol.
Pet owner poll: sm

Do any of you feel that the monthly one-spot flea and tick preventions are hazardous to your pets' health?

Between my best friend and me, we had 6 dogs.  Since June, 3 of them developed cancers, 2 of whom died.  The common denominator is Frontline.   Her dog was only 4, and my 2 were 10 and 8.   Her dog had a leiomyosarcoma.  Mine had squamous cell sarcoma and the other had undifferentiated giant cell sarcoma.  We both live in Florida where fleas and ticks can be a big problem.

Two other friends claim they don't give their dogs these preventatives because they were told they were poisonous to dogs, the advice coming from holistic vets.

What are your thoughts and experiences, and where do you live?

Thanks.

How about a pillar candle tied up in tulle with a gorgeous bow? (If you can't make a bow, these are available in stores.) She won't care that you didn't spend a lot, but love you for thinking about her. Or, even less expensive, make her a batch of homemade candy or cookies and present them in a pretty tin - everyone likes to get homemade goodies.
It is my understanding that the owner of the --sm
property has the right to ask anyone to leave. It is their property and they do not OWE you to live there, even if you have been there all your life. If you are paying less rent than the average renter, I can see why he is doing this. You may be a good tenant, but everything, these days, comes down to dollars and cents. He may not have to do too much to "renovate," but he can get a much bigger price in rent. I really don't think you have a leg to stand on and I am sorry for your situation, but the owner can do anything they want to with their property.
A responsible owner would never allow...sm
Their pitbull to wander around public. That is why we have attacks. Owners should be responsible and keep them as well as any dog in a fenced in yard. Or if out in public on a leash. Mine will never be wandering around in public on its own. That is totally irresponsible. If I saw a pitbull out in public I would be cautious myself.
The fence did not cause the dog to die. The owner did by not making sure
the batteries were changed on a regular basis.   The fence and the dog are blameless.  The only one who had any control over the situation dropped the ball....poor dog.
If the owner feels their being there could cause a problem

Not arguing about the right for a business owner--sm
to refuse service to anyone, but, according to the article I read, OJ and his group came into the restaurant, sat in the back and were not causing a problem. The owner had the problem, as one of the waitresses was *giddy* that OJ was there. He specifically stated he asked OJ to leave because he did not like what OJ had done (in the past). To me, that is discrimination. He was not causing a problem. It was the owner of the restaurant who had a problem. But that is just my opinion.

I just do not think it is right that a place that is *open to the public* can ask someone to leave just because they do not like that person. If OJ had been causing a problem, that would have been different, but he was not. It was all the owners feelings about the man. that's all.

However, this thread is taking an ugly turn and since I have said all I have wanted to say on the subject, I am backing out now. Have a good day.
I am the renter..NOT the owner of the house

TAIB - Owner reply
This is not my company that is being named here - I am the sole owner of TAIB and have been nor plan to be associated with another company.  Our MTs are paid on time and we do not have the problems mentioned in this chain of email.  If Heda would like to contact me for clarification, I would be happy to speak to him/her.  Otherwise I would request an apology - Sincerely, Penny Jackson Pray - Owner of TAIB - Transcription At Its Best, Inc.

She just bought a new Springer Spaniel. Would like to make her a little basket and wonder if anyone else has a Springer. I don't like gift cards, too impersonal.

cat owner and just built a house 3 years ago -
I used 2000 sq feet of tile that is mottled with several colors and then 1000 sq feet of teak. I have 4 cats (one Maine Coon who is nearly as big as some dogs!) who are rough and tumble when they play. If I had it to do again I would go with a lighter color of wood floor. Teak is a medium color and does show scratches where it is darker. Just my 2 cents. Good luck. :-)
they interviewed the owner - looks like he "runs" things

Kitty cat question. I am a first time cat owner and need
She was litter box trained and then started spending more time outside (we live in the country) and stopped using the box. She probably has not used the box in 3 or 4 months. Just going outside. Now last night she went in the floor of my bedroom, and again today!! UGH. Now question - Do I put her litter box in my room in the spot where she went, just for a while and then can I move it. If I cant move it later, I dont want to put it here. Or do I leave the box where it is and put her in it tonight? Or do I leave her out at night? I just dont know what to do. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I thought you might like to read the below story.

That guy, the dog's owner, was Marcus Luttrell, a war hero
author of Lone Survivor.  He was the lone survivor of his Navy Seal team on a mission in Afghanistan.  This dog was given to him during his rehabilitation to help with recovery when he came home.  It just makes me sick!
Am I the only one who thinks...

That it is wrong for the workers, who are contracted to put new vinyl on our home, I just caught washing themselves off after a hard 12-hour day of work in 100 degree weather, in our nice, sparkling, clean pool?!?!?!?!

I am furious.  Now we are just renters, but I called the landlord and she is calling the company!  Just wondering if Im being a germaphobe sp? ??

They also ripped our grill cover, Im assuming putting the ladder over the top of it instead of moving it.

The first day they came they were sitting on our vehicle waiting for us to come to the door?!?!?!

Not sure if this is rude or not where they are from, but seems like here in the US of A, its pretty darn rude and if they are going to be here, they need to act a little more considerate!

Thanks for listening to the venting!!

My cat thinks he's a dog
He chases his tail and it's so funny to watch. My other cat who recently died used to beg at the table like a dog whenever we ate. She'd give you a pathetic look and put her paws up on your chair.
Should be she thinks he is
slow- I know better.
I went to a strawberry pickin' farm Monday. The owner sm
told our large group of homeschoolers (both moms and dads) during our tour that he had to learn the hard way that women make THE GREATEST strawberry planters. He said he hired a bunch of men one year and that was the last time he did that. He said now they are all women - they take their time, take pride in their work, and just do something for the soil where he has huge, gorgeous berries whenever they plant them.  All the women there broke into applause. I thought it was so funny.  I just liked seeing a man actually admit to something like that.....

And I also heard a while back that Trump probably doesn't have any more *disposable cash* as the rest of us...his personal bank balance is average, just like ours! All his money is in property, real estate, *young wives* etc...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

You have hurt his ego most likely, thinks that only he - sm
should be taking care of business, or else thinks the toy does too good a job and you will not want him. My DH and I have a few different toys, though we do not use them too much, use them more together than I do solo. As stated they can enhance the experience, try to show him that and use it together, or show him how to use it on you, but if that still freaks him out then I guess that is out and just keep it for yourself when he is not around. Mine would love it if I got more into them actually, just depends on the guy and how confident he is in himself I think.
Am I the only one that thinks this could be murder?

When her son died, Anna's mother went on TV and said that she thought he was murdered and said that she thought Anna was in danger.  Now Anna is dead.

There are a lot of people who are now going to profit now that both of them are dead.  The old billionaire's family now has a pretty good chance of keeping their money.  So the billionaire's family could have paid to have them both killed.  At the very least, they are saving millions in attorney fees.

If she does still have a claim to that money, her infant now is the sole heir to that, and the remaining parent stands to also get a huge part of that.  Her lawyer/husband now will inherit everything if he really is the father.  So, he could have killed them both for profit.

Then, there is the ex-boyfriend who wants his kid.  He could have killed her off to try to get his kid back and get a stake in the billionaire's fortune also.

And all of them had to know that since she always slurs her speech and has problems with drugs and alcohol, the public could easily buy that it was an accident or suicide.

Does anyone else thinks this sounds
like a joke? What dude who is married comes on here and asks a bunch of chicks for advice about buying a house that he obviously cannot afford?

If this, in fact, is not a joke, then no, you cannot afford $2700 a month plus car expenses, food, baby expenses and all the other stuff on $75,000 a year!!!!

Another thing, those interest only loans are bad, bad, bad. They sound good in the beginning but in 5-10 years when you have to refinance, you are going to be in trouble.

Foreclosures are through the roof all throughout the country because of those silly loans. Just think about it.
Friend who thinks they know everything

I have a friend who is very opinionated and thinks she knows everything.  A lot of people do not like her but I think we get along because I'm pretty laid back.  Our kids take dance at the same place.  My child just got asked to be on the competition team.  Her child has been on it a couple of years.  My kid missed one class because she was sick.  This was just a regular class.  They have not starting competition practice yet.  I mentioned that she would be missing again this week because we are having dinner at nursing home with hubbys father who is 85 and is not able to come for Thanksgiving on the night of dance class.  She then says to me if it were gymastics she would not miss.  (She is a talented gymnast which she loves more than dance.) My friend then tells me it is not fair for the people who care.  I guess meaning the parents who bring their kids to class.  My child will only miss two classes, one because she was sick.  She is usually always there.  My friend got me so mad.  I think it was her attitude more than anything.  She never knows when to keep her opinions to herself and this is an ongoing thing with her no matter what the subject is.  I swear she just likes to argue about anything.  Do you think I am overreacting or would you be mad too?

Just wondering who thinks
Keira Knightley is pretty?  Her face is plastered everywhere, but she always has her lip curled up in a snarl.  Anybody else notice that?  Does she every smile for pictures?
you don't know that for sure. He says he thinks he's an alcohol.

My DH just turned 70 - Thinks he is 40 ##
I am 69
Hush don't go imagining something!!
That seems to be what Simon thinks
and I agree they will probably do well. I think the guy in the red/orange suit - lol - will be going home. He was sort of terrible. David is it? The 17 year old. Just how much cuteness can one have? LOVE HIM! But I am just drooling over the guy that sang c'mon baby light my fire and oh yes I definitely would! Is he hot or what? lol. I can't wait to see the girls tonight. I just love this show.
I am the only one that thinks something is up with this story..
Things just don't add up..Fourteen years ago she was a virgin, first child is 14 years-old and she was 26 years old 14 years ago, which makes her 40, but later she states she is going on 43. She had a 1-1/2 year-old, 6-month-old and 8 months pregnant..hmmm. That makes her having gotten pregnant BEFORE the 6-month-old was born. Later, she is pregnant and they are 9 months and 1-1/2 years old. Then, she stated that her 12-year-old tonight (keyword here) had a fight with her dad but later this same child is 13, just turned, so I'm guessing on the same day? which is tonight. Just a lot of inconsistencies. I'm not sure why or how someone would make this up but I just find it odd. Maybe someone needs attention.
I swear he thinks he's a dog
He's constantly into everything, and is more curious than a cat! I plan on doing eventing with him, but I want to let him get nice and big before I start riding him! He's going to visit the vet as soon as it cools off a bit more though, he's started thinking with the wrong brain if you know what I mean!

I let him out into the front yard to eat grass a lot because we don't have a lot in the pasture and I think he gets tired of his round bale. Well a couple of weeks ago I had my truck loaded up with some rubbermaid boxes of stuff I was taking to the church and I came out the next morning and the lid was off of everyone and he had dug through EVERYTHING!

I love him though, he's my kid! I can't wait til I can get my other boy in with him, but he's still at my moms until we move somewhere with more land. This is a picture of him with my mom. I call him Danny Boy. He's a 17.2 hand warmblood. (My mom is 5Ǝ so you can see how big he is!)

what the kennel thinks
When I was a kid a spoiled dog got "Gainsburger"

Now the kennel I take my dog to thinks my dog is spoiled because she gets raw chicken.

I think it is all brainwashing by "experts" and I adamantly disagree about vast improvements in our food industry for humans or animals.
My son says he thinks Walmart

pizza is the very best, and he is my super picky eater.  We get them often.  The pepperoni is quite greasy but you can dab off the extra grease with a paper towel.  If they have the canadian bacon thin crust, grab one and enjoy!  I recommend those above all other flavors.  Yum!

Oh SOOO cute. But please read inside for a warning (I'm a dog owner) sm

Puppies develop habits really quickly, so discourage licking the can thing.  Mine would get cans out of the garbage and one had a cut edge and he terrribly cut his mouth and tongue.  I felt like such a careless dog mom.  A true accident, but now maybe I can help you prevent the same thing?  Please excuse my post... I am not a know-it-all and I actually don't like it when someone posts something lighthearted and then someone (like me) gets kind of off topic in the thread with a reply like this one, but maybe it will help you prevent an accident.  But this is an adorable picture and I love your puppy.

DH thinks the Chlydesdale box was cooler than ever

Only he does not think it should be used for something the kids can tear up.  He thinks we should use it for something else, maybe something to store blankets in or maybe his deer hunting gear.  So I guess I did pretty well at that G-sale.  I even bought Little Touch Leap Frog book with all the cartridges for $18
