P.S. Forgot to add my curfew time

Until I was 18.....9 p.m. week nights, 10 p.m. weekends. No leeway. Grounded for 2 weeks if I was late. I spent a lot of time grounded and depending on the offense, it was 2 weeks to 2 months. Pretty hard to have a social life that way.

My 19 yo does not have a curfew.
Our primary goal as parents is to raise responsible adults. My 19 year old does not have a curfew, but he is a member of this household and owes us the courtesy of minimizing our worry. He tells us where he is going and tells us when he expects to be home. He calls if there are changes in plans. This is no different than the courtesy my husband and I pay each other when we keep each other informed of our whereabouts. When my son turned 18, I told him that I would no longer enforce rules or curfews, but that I had a choice about whether to continue to house him or help him with expenses. He's a very responsible young man, contributes with household chores, works and pays a good deal of his own expenses, and he appreciates the help we give him. Because he acts like an adult, we treat him like one.
Some people are not ready to be treated like adults, even when the calendar says they are over 18. You know your child. If she is a responsible young woman, then it's time to let her go. But if she needs more time to get her adult act together, you have every right to impose house rules.
Curfew......
My son is 18 years old home from college for the summer.  We don't give him a curfew.  At the end of last year (senior year) he was a nightmare with the attitude and there was constantly war up in my house.  By the time he left for college, everyone really needed a break from each other.  I had a lot of anxiety about him coming home for the summer, thinking the attitude would be home too, but to my pleasant surprise, he has been a peach so far, so I really don't bug him about what time he is home.  Thus far, he has not done anything stu*pid and does not really go out all that much, once or twice a week.  If he was a girl, we might have a different view of that.  It is such a hard subject and if you feel strongly about it and it is disrupting your life, stick to your guns.  We also live in a nice suburb and we know all of his friends that he runs with and feel good about them, so that also may be another concern for you.  If it were a different situation, we may handle it differently.
curfew
Our DD, who is 18 now, had an 8:30 curfew on weeknights and 10:30 on weekends when she was 16````no exeptions.
Curfew for 18-year-old
I have an 18-year-old daughter who is a high school senior and leaving home to go to college in the fall.   We had originally set a curfew for her to be home by midnight on weekends, then recently extended it to 1 a.m, much earlier on weeknights.  She has a car that was provided by us (an old clunker, but the thing runs) and often goes to friend's houses in the evenings.  She is otherwise responsible, has a job, gets good grades and school and gets her homework done.  Lately she's come home past curfew  a couple times (2 times that I know of - last night I heard the garage door open at almost 4 a.m.).   I'm torn as to whether to make a big issue out of this - if she was younger, I most certainly would, but because she is 18 and otherwise a responsible girl, I don't know to what extent I should push this.  Any ideas or opinions?
Does any give their 19 year old a curfew sm
I have a 19 year old home from college that has a 1 a.m  curfew.  I cannot sleep until she gets in and so out of respect I ask her to be home.  I don't mind if she has people over after 1 a.m or spend the whole night on the phone.  She is fighting this big time.  Supposedly she is the only one that has a curfew.  She told me that when she talked to her social worker today that she said your mom needs to get over that and let her live.  I told my daughter my house, my rules.  Now I am wonder ing I am too hard.
My 20-year-old son doesn't have curfew...sm

He goes to to school about an hour away and comes home almost every weekend.  He lives in an apartment all week with 3 of his friends, goes to school and works nights.  So, I really get a laugh out of it when he comes home and actually still ASKS if he can do something on the weekend.  I appreciate that he does it, but at his age I would expect him to tell me where he will be.

Then there's my 17-year-old daughter.  She has to be home by 11:00 because of her junior driver's license.  We have 6 more months of that and then I think we will have a problem when she turns 18.

In my home if she kept arguing the curfew would change to 11,
Nineteen is old enough to respect you and be considerate of your rules.

No! That sounds too desperate. TIME. Just give it TIME. If it is real, then sm
something will definitely evolve. If you like him, flirt back! Don't act desperate because if he DOES like you, then the suspense will just make him want to get to know you more. Trust me on this.

I worked in the medical records department of a hospital when I was single and dated a few co-workers in my early 30s. It was fun. Nothing serious came about any of the relationships.

This sounds like fun - the beginning of maybe something to come....Keep us informed.
Totally agree, get these from time to time since teens...sm
It's a neuro condition, it does not mean there is anything at all wrong with you, it is actually related to narcolepsy, hypnagogic (sp? I just got up!) hallucinations, etc. And I HATE when I get these, it is always freaky, my siblings get this too, at times. I can "go away" for years and years before you get another episodes, so don't worry! I heard that when you are under a lot of stress or are very busy with things that this happens more??? Take care!!
It's time to stop when you or the kid(s) feel it is time, and no sooner. sm
My grandmother (who passed away at the young age of 107 back in the mid 1990s) was STILL celebrating every little holiday for all of her many kids and grandkids, and she would STILL give me a chocolate bunny every Easter, as she had since I was a toddler and even though I was 40ish at the time (and I still delighted in biting its head off in front of her, as I had also done since I was a toddler, which always met with mock disapproval from her).

Don't let anyone dampen your joy in celebrating your traditions.
Forgot,,,
some of the clubs listed above might have closed. Did not see them on Club Meds site. Profits?? The one I loved best was Mexico at Playa Blanca- out in the middle of nowhere and an oasis. I think you can get more for your buck now days.
Forgot, forgot
The water at Ixtapa was nasty!! That is on the Pacific side I believe probaby just at the border, too so long to get there. The Cancun water is absolutely gorgeous and what is strange, the weather can be 110 and yet the sand is not hot!! All my trips were out of the country so could not tell you about the ones here in the country. My children and/or daughter and I usually went for 2 weeks at a time. My daughter returned to Mexico this past summer (I went to Alaska) and she went to a place called Blue Bay, all inclusive but I believe might have been a bit raunchy for my taste.

This was on the nighttime ABCnews.
But, forgot to say,
what about someone with multiple sclerosis? Thanks.
Oh, forgot this
When I first went there husband had made approximate width, depth so I could get ballpark figure (later when measured was really low) but was told then she would lose money on me because of my needs being small but would make it up on other customers. I had twice as much when they actually measured and the guy who measured said really mine little above average house.
Forgot to add . . .
I hope the owners get prosecuted and put in jail or at the very least, fined.

This was my aunt that called and yelled at me (my cousins' mom)She said that they are not speaking to me because I am a jerk and a jacka$$.
Sorry, I forgot this, Me2!

You asked about Tyne's party attire. She was just in her gorgeous little suit that nature gave her, the tri-colored short-haired little coat with dainty feet, her large brown eyes and her beautiful, larger than proportionate ears and big eyes. She was enjoying being the center of attention!

JustDogs at the mall has those darling little outfits, but mom said she would never wear one. At Halloween I usually give a party (OMG, bats, Halloween, etc.) and dresed her up last year (we had the party at mom's) in a little devil suit. She kept it on for a little while, but then I took it off. She looked adorable with the horns on!!

I saw some little slippers in a magazine for dogs. They had duck slippers and lamb slippers! It was all I could do not to order four!!!  Mom said she would just take them off! They sure were cute!  There was a picture of a Boxer wearing a rain coat that was just too cute for words!

Talk to you later!

My MIL lives in the same city and we hardly ever see her. When I told her and my FIL that I was pregnant for her their comment, it's just another present to buy for Christmas. I'll take your mother over them any day.
Oh, forgot to say
the hospital did payroll
deductions every 2 weeks on the hospital bill including 2 different surgeries.
I forgot one...
When I was little, I was scared to death of The Lost Boys. My brother used to try to make me watch it - I made it through one time and then after that I cried hysterically every time it was on TV. I was also terrified of the Thriller video! I'm not really scared of the psycho killer movies, it's more the ghosts and vampires and supernatural.

my father is retired military, so we are USAA members and I think I've seen the discounts for Sprint services offered through them. Thanks for reminding me about that! Love USAA!!

When she broke up with a prior boyfriend of 1-1/2 years, she was upset for about a week and then was over it. Just give him time. And cookies.
Forgot to ask though sm
What if  you want to do stuffing?

My son went to NYC at age 19; first job with airlines based out of Kennedy. I was scared to death for him. He did fine. I went to visit a year later - we had a wonderful time.
P.S. - I forgot to say
I wouldn't assume he did it. Believe it or not someone got ahold of my cell phone once and charged on it. It doesn't happen that often, but in today's day and age with all these hackers out there its better to inquire than assume and feel awful afterwards.
Sorry - I forgot to add this
I'm sorry I forgot to add that as I was reading the email and looking at the pic I wondered why in the world would sending an email of a so-called ghost standing next to a boy who died bring good luck? Gotta make you wonder.
On another note I did find an interesting article regarding chain letters. Here is the link.

She apparently had been taking cabs to and from the neighboring town, when she was only given permission to "hang out" in the town we live in. She would take the cabs to either get home by curfew or to the location that I had agreed to pick her up at. She would even walk around alone at night at times, unbeknownst to me. She has made some new friends that I don't know in this town and now wants to go there all the time. I am not comfortable with that at all. She basically feels entitled to do what she wants when she wants.

just in case it is unclear...the purpose of the packed suitcase is if he has another episode, all I have to do is zip up the suitcase and we are off to the foster care intake office.

Yes...I would really do it. If things get to that point, I would allow him to remain in foster care for a few months before starting the paperwork to get him back. We live in Georgia. They told me that it could take from 1 to 6 weeks to get him back, but that I would be able to get him back if I wanted to.

I did ask him one time what solutions do these places have to offer. "None" was the answer. I said exactly. I said I can't listen to anyone who is going to get everyone in a panic over things that are going on but not give any solutions. That's what I don't like about any of the talk shows. They get people in an uproar and living in fear but they don't offer anything. But as they say "that goes on deaf ears"
I forgot one...
Chewing gum. I think it should be outlawed!

We also have a pool so we spend a lot of time outside swimming and having cookouts and bonfires with the neighbors.

Would you mind giving us the stats on your baby (name, weight, length, time born)? Funny how women usually like to hear all that. : )

Once she starts to be a little more aware and you can really see her connecting with you, it will be more rewarding.
sorry, forgot
here's one with good info.

Yep. I forgot about that
They don't like citrus.  Orange peels or lemon peels or even some sort of essence.  I used to work with a girl who said she put lemon juice on her plant leavevs and her kitten never touched them.  You can also get something called Bitter Apple that is supposed to be a good cat deterrent, but I've never tried it.
You forgot the HOO after your BOO.

She sat for two months accepting lousy paychecks.  She knew it wasn't getting any better.  She could not pay her bills and now here's the eviction notice.

Wonder of wonders!!!

I have been waaaay down and out.  You don't have a clue.  Picking myself up and moving on worked for me.

I don't get it.  Because I said pick yourself up and move on and get a job, it is terrible?

No wonder our country is in the state it's in.

Feeling sorry for yourself is healthy and helps?

Picking yourself up is a terrible thing to do?

For the love of!!!

I forgot to add - my daughter's cat
also  has seizures and the vet put her on Valium.  She has only had one since starting on it.  She takes half a tablet twice a day.  She is in a very, very good mood now also.  She is so funny to watch.  She is so relaxed, fat, and happy on those pills.
Oh, forgot to mention....
there was absolutely no need for prepainting, Kiltz or anything. The job turned out really good and neither 1 professional. All you have to do is buy white indoor paint or whatever color you want.
Oh, forgot, much more dignified than
keeping beer stocked in my home. Sorry...
Oops, forgot
never was on hormones, had decided years ago not to take, was admonished by one physician in time past I should, so glad I didn't. As I knew, say in the 70s, hormones had some bad press in relation to cancer.
forgot to mention--sm
if you go to rembrandt's website, you can view Griffin House video of *Waterfall*, plus hear some others of his music. In case anyone else wants to hear what I am so excited about. he he.
ah forgot about the yogurt !
I read somewhere that puppies sometimes don't have enough of some enzyme in their digestive tracts to ward off certain bacteria and you are right, yogurt will build that bacteria back up and help the body naturally fight off certain bacterias. Great advice.
Forgot to tell you, have brothers and 1 gay
and the other not. I still love them, they are my children but 1 really has to, shall I say, watch his back??
forgot to mention
that we did this for less than two weeks and they started to turn black and fall off.  You need to make sure that you tape it on there really good so that the acid can work its magic with the tape keeping the air from the area.
Forgot to also mention
Black Beauty.  I was an absolute nut for horses when I was a young girl.
Oh, forgot about breakfast here
I had some yogart and some fruit. I just do not know about these foods this person is talking about.
