PS: Skateboarding & skating ARE 'sports' - and can

In Reply to: Team sports are for 'sheep' - has he been to a local - skateboard park? Lotsa potential pals there!

actually progress to 'extreme' sports such as at the X-Games. Both activities require a lot more in the way of agility, balance, and general overall fitness than just kicking a silly ball around. I would tell him soccer is for sissies, and the REAL athletes are jumping stairs and grinding rails. Lots more interesting to watch, too!

skateboarding??...sm

I taught my sons how to skateboard and snowboard in 1987...Yeah, I guess we did look a little rough (still do)...but, it's not what's on the outside that matters.

Those young men who rescued the baby are to be commended.  Cat

Mainly do inline skating, but mix in a few other things - sm
like running about 1 or 2x a week (kinda hard on the knees, but I take an aspirin and do it anyway), also biking, and skiing when there's time. I like skating best for fitness 'cause it's a good low-impact cardio workout, especially if you go up a bunch of hills. If it rains, I either find a roller rink or go ice-skating, instead.
Figure skating outfits
My oldest daughter has just begun to take figure skating lessons.  Anyone have those outfits for warmups that they no longer need?  The ones available on ebay mostly ship from China. Thanks!!!  Any information on where else to find them would really be helpful!
Ooops sorry - Roller skating

I didn't start skating 'til I was almost 49! ;o)
.
Really? LATE 50s? That is awesome! I am 40 - husband tells me I'm too old to be skating! (sm)
says if I get hurt my bones won't heal up quickly LOL! But I have rollerblades and I love it. I just have to start making time. Thanks for the reminder!
Update: We went ice skating yesterday pm and he had a great time (sm)
I told him we are going to look into more places where he can go and do the types of things he likes to do. However, I do disgree that there is anything wrong with other sports...to each his/her own. If someone loves ball sports, I don't see that as making them a "follower". Everyone has an aptitude for different things. Thanks for all the suggestions and insight everyone!
The same thing happened with Skating with the Stars between Lloyd Eisler &
when Eisler's wife was 8 month's pregnant in Canada.  What a couple of selfish people.
Book of movie passes? Gift card to a popular restaurant? Ice or roller skating

Lots and lots of SKATING ! - sm
Mostly inline street skating, up & down hills, too. Some roller skating and roller-disco. I was doing ice-skating, but can't afford it anymore, plus I prefer to skate outdoors. It works all muscles, is low-impact, fairly quick to learn compared to other sports, like skiing, is a cheap sport, and excellent for keeping balance & reflexes sharp. Most of the people I skate with look & act 10-20 years younger than their chronological ages.

I MAKE the time to skate. I eat my lunch at my desk, but take a break in the late afternoon before it gets dark, to exercise. This can also include a walk or jog around the neighborhood, bike ride into town to go to the market (cheaper than driving), a fast inline skate around town, or dance practice on a local tennis court. Then I work into the evening for as long as it takes to finish up.
