She knew she was visiting and would be leaving (sm)

In Reply to: Invasive in-law - How does one get along

She just wanted to do a few things with her granddaughter before she left. If you had my in-laws you would understand invasive. You have to share your daughter. She is your child, but she is that woman's grandchild and she has rights too. She is sooo not asking too much. She sounds very humble and non-demanding. Try to be sweet to her. She won't live forever. Let her enjoy her granchild while she can.

My first trip to Wyoming, visiting the Rockies like I said, Jackson and the like. Landing in Salt Lake, Jackson, going down Snake River, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Sheridan, Keystone, Mount Rushmore and listen to this, Bear County USA!! What a grand trip. Your country must be beautiful. I just wish could make to Montana as I hear the scenery there also grand but so looking forward to my trip and thanks for the information! Cannot believe my family turns down all expense paid vacation! My trip starts July 25th.

Be careful while visiting Switzerland

Swiss restaurant to serve meals cooked with human breast milk

A Swiss gastronomist has stirred a controversy in the tranquil Alpine republic after announcing that he will serve meals cooked with human breast milk.

Women will receive just over £3 (US$5.4) for 14 ounces of their milk Photo: GETTY The owner of the Storchen restaurant in the exclusive Winterthur resort will improve his menu with local specialities such as meat stew and various soups and sauces containing at least 75 per cent of mother's milk.

"We have all been raised on it. Why should we not include it into our diet?" Hans Locher, who has become Switzerland most controversial restaurant owner, said.

Mr Locher attracted the attention of the leading media of the German-speaking world this week after he posted ads looking for women donors, who will receive just over three pounds for 14 ounces of their milk.

He said: "I first experimented with breast milk when my daughter was born.

"One can cook really delicious things with it. However, it always needs to be mixed with a bit of whipped cream, in order to keep the consistency."

The food control authority in Switzerland was initially confused by the apparent loophole in local legislation regulating the use of human milk and it was not clear whether Mr Locher could actually be banned from serving his specialities.

"Humans as producers of milk are simply not envisaged in the legislation.

"They are not on the list of approved species such as cows and sheep, but they are also not on the list of the banned species such as apes and primates," Rolf Etter of the Zurich food control laboratory said.

Social Services Visiting

The main thing I'd say is to remain calm and explain to the investigator like you did here.  Their job is to sort out the truth from the fiction.  I was investigated once because my MTSO made false accusations about me to the police.

I had to answer questions I didn't enjoy but when the interview was over the investigator was done she told me she believed me and I had nothing to worry about, but if the accuser made another call they'd file harassment charges against me.

The truth is the truth and they'll sort it out.  Patience will serve you well.

Need advice re: visiting disney world!!

We are FINALLY going to break down and take the kids (ages 6, 9, and 12).  But I've heard so much conflicting info.  Stay in the resorts/stay in Kissimmee, go in Sept./go in Dec, Go to Disney/go to Universal - I'm soooo confused.  Yes, we will be on a budget, but I DO want to have a good experience as this may be the only time we can do this, at least while the kids are young enough to see it through a kid's eyes.  PLEASE, some of you who have been before - tell me where you stayed, which parks you went to, etc.  THANK YOU, thank you, thank you...Sherrie

Is President Bush visiting our site?
Sorry, just got me giggling.

Well thanks for visiting the miserable people and giving us your 2 cents nm

You're aunt is bully, plain and simple and I would just stop visiting.

but I will tell you this, most mothers are going to voice their opinions to their kids about how they did things compared to out YOU do things.  I think it's in the mother by-laws somewhere.  :)  My mother constantly tells me I'm too soft with my kids and I am.  My mother was a strict disciplinarian similar to your aunt when I was a kid.  Spankings were routine and generally with the belt or the fly swatter or any other object handy.  That's why I'm so soft.

I let me mother know early on after I became a mother, that my kids are MY KIDS.  She can give me advice and I'll always listen, but I will make the final decision on how and when to discipline my children and I and ONLY I (and DH too of course) will dole out any discipline necessary.  Nobody else has permission to spank my children, EVER!

My mom and I get along pretty good now.  I accept that she will be nosy and pushy and she accepts that I will ignore her and not call for a few days when she gets on my nerves.

I would just suggest being honest with your aunt and letting her know that you think you're a good mother, your DH thinks your a good mother and that your kids are doing fine and behave fine and if she doesn't think so, then she doesn't need to see the kids.

you do the leaving
My ex was the same way. After 17-1/2 years, I did the leaving. I know it is hard, but YOU CAN DO IT!! You and your kids will be better off in the long run. My oldest child wishes I would have left when he and his brother were still little. Don't let him keep abusing you - you are just as valuable as he is - don't forget it. Hope your cold/flu doesn't last too long. Will be thinking of you.
Leaving an ovary or not?
I had one at 35 and kept my ovaries, although now I wish they'd have taken them.  Within an hour after surgery, I was up and around and ready to go home and had NO pain afterwards (this was vaginal).  I felt better than I had in years and I think every woman who is beyond wanting children should have one. It gives you such a freedom from all the "mess" and such.
He refuses to do that. He says no way is he leaving (sm)
I have tried for so long to hold this marriage together for the sake of the children - but what am I teaching them if I continue to live in this situation? That it is okay for men to treat women badly? That you just let people treat you however they want? That spouses don't have to respect each other?
Any regrets leaving the Q?
They're getting on my last nerve, but there are those that say that being an MT is pretty much the same everywhere.  I hope not; I'm tired of having multiple different hospitals during each shift.
re: leaving pets
No I don't leave messages but we've done some camping this summer and my kitty gets very mad when we leave. When we walked in the door after being away for a few days she wouldn't stop meowing at me, like she was telling me off for leaving her..she wouldn't let me pick her up either! Anyone else's pets get mad when you leave?

If you are serious about leaving, you need a plan. SM
First, get some therapy for yourself to gain back some self confidence. Then make a plan. Find out how much a divorce attorney costs and start saving. If you are not being physically abused, try to stay in it as long as kids are young. Then make your escape.

Believe me, you are not the only one going through this. Are there any women's groups in your town you can join? You really need to vent. I know what that's like.
My DH is leaving in just a little bit for Atlanta
He is going on business for the weekend (we are in VA and have about 2in of snow now and more on the way) and he is taking my DD along for a little Father/daughter bonding. We have been following the weather and saw that it is in the 30s today and up to in the 50s tomorrow then back to 30s on Sat. with snow expected. My daughter is going crazy trying to decide what to pack. LOL
I don't regret leaving either...

Been gone since last August and couldn't ask for a better company to work for now.  I owe MQ a lot as they did hire me right after I graduated my MT course and I did learn a lot while I was there, but having said that, I haven't looked back once since leaving.

If you are leaving for 3 weeks, take them to a kennel and sm
pay for daily care.  They need more than food and water, they need attention and loving and daily petting, and exercise.  Bless you for taking them on, but don't desert them now.
Rosie Leaving The View
Just watching The View.  I know a lot of you wil be happy.  Rosie just announced that she's leaving The View.  I didn't catch exactly when she was leaving or why, but she did mention her children as a factor.
Leaving for New York tomorrow sm
with my family.  Watch for us in the Today Show audience.  I will be the one with the laptop so I won't fall behind in my work.    Just Kidding.
Running over a dog and leaving the scene?
Going on her merry way, shopping or whatever...?

Probably doesn't have animals; I agree.

I'm loving life since leaving MT.

uhh...that should be "suggested leaving"...not counseling...nm

I'm leaving what little I have left in my 401K for now - sm
(what's left wouldn't do me any good, anyway), with the hope that someday it will gain back some of what it lost. THEN, even though I probably still won't have as much as was in it before, I'll most likely take it ALL out of the stock market forever, and invest in something concrete, such as land (which even if it can't be sold for a profit, can be lived-on). The stock market has become so volatile and flaky that it no longer makes any more sense to put your hard-earned retirement money into that than it does to blow it all on Lottery tickets or slot machines.
I heard just last week that she was leaving the show--sm
Why would she suddenly become a host if she could not work out an agreement with CBS? She said she would be back for various shows already set up, but that she was not going to be there day to day...did I miss something?
Party in SF as a send-off for friends leaving for Burning Man.
I'd love go myself, but can't afford it.....
I agree and leaving early not sore loser (sm)
I think that's just graceful, letting the winners have their day plus that had to really sting after the great season they had. But what a great game it was. Both teams should be proud they made it there.
I have been single again as long as I was married and there is not a day I don't regret leaving s

BUT it was still the right thing to do. I have been happier since and I am fine on my own, but it was extremely tough as he didn't pay child support and I could not find a way to make him (not for lack of trying though and a social worker whose job it was to collect his arrears kept telling me no, I didn't really need it!).  Financially it was terrible, but the relief of his absence was enormous.

He was critical.  He was always rude. My friends would only come to visit when he was on the road.  The kids would pick up their messes, but he made more than they ever did, never helped and constantly criticized me for not being a perfect housekeeper like his mom...who didn't work, had a housekeeper and spent her days at the mall shopping.  I had more kids than she did, worked always and ended up being too exhausted for him.  He is a homophobic homosexual and going out on "mommy and daddy" dates was always humiliating because he spent the evening looking at other men's behinds.

I got out and suffice it to say, at quite a price financially and emotionally.  I have not remarried, have only had one relationship in 15 years and feel too damaged to ever try again, but I am FREE from all of that.

My kids were pleased when he left and were all too anxious to help him to leave the house!

If you only knew!
I'm not a pagan, just simply educated on many different religions and other things of interest to me.
I knew when I saw what was going on,
simple. He was having wrecks and letting me know about them. His wife was deceased and I tried to get help for him and even telling him he was being taken, did not think so. Red flags flying all around- 1 lady who cared for his wife before her death, married, younger than me, all of a sudden taking interest in a 90 year old man who did not use deodorant? No way. I was out of town, bottom line after his death the person I spoke had got $60,000.00 from him, had him set up an account in her name and his social security check and other monies going directly into that account. I knew what I saw. She went to the bank the day after his death and pulled all out. I have been there.
see, I knew you all (most) would come through
for me. Sounds like a good alternative. You guys have given me great ideas.
Knew you could do it.
Didn't take long at all once your Realtor knew you meant business. Better for him, anyway.
And to think I knew all of these
guess not, have so many of those sayings and yet had never heard of this.
I wish I knew
I have one in the house now that keeps landing on my computer screen. I can't get rid of him. Even my cat is no help this evening.
They say she knew nothing - I don't see how though (nm)

That is when I knew that...
...it was over in my first marriage  When I was glad to see his a** go out that door and say to myself *good*, then I knew I had really lost that lovin' feeling.
THanks so much, knew there was a way nm

maybe you took him b/c you knew

I never knew that
But with the large refund we got it's paying a credit card that we've been trying to pay off forever so I'll take the refund anyway I can.
I knew someone who did this too
I think this is a wonderful idea - of course, it wouldn't work for everyone but I can see a lot of benefits if it could work for you...
No...I never knew that either
Not that I care either way, I like her, just never knew that
Yes, and this is how I knew as well. sm
When you get to I don't give $ ___ you are there!
I wish I knew what to say but I am
65 now and have yet to have a midlife crisis. What is going on in your life that you just want to sleep and nothing else. You have no joys in life, just work alone? I have been in what I call ruts before but eventually snapped out of those. One thing is with my work if I would ever just get so fed up with working a lot and burned out basically, would find some time to take off from work and do other things I might enjoy, such as an escape to a movie, the zoo, etc.
Hey thanx, I never knew that! :) sm
About only adjectives with three or more syllables getting the comparative/superlative form of "more" and "most".

I've ALWAYS said "more stupid", but "stupidest" or "most stupid". Why, I don't know. But I usually avoid that word in any form.....
if you knew you were about to die
A friend of ours was a heavy smoker and drinker. He had an heart attack and quit smoking because of it. He has a bad liver and had to quit drinking. Now he found out he has about 9 months to live if he is lucky. He has cancer and it is in all his organs. He had started back to smoking and drinking heavy. Would you do the same thing?
We knew that - we won't dock your pay for it! LOL
x
thanks Jon-but I knew difference between the 2.
