So disappointed in Whoopi today on The View!

I live in the deep south and talking about Michael Vick today Whoopi is so misinformed. I have sent the show an email and hopefully it gets to her attention but having said that, she was saying how dogfighting was a cultural thing here in the "deep south." I was born and raised in the south and know of no one who condones this type of inhumane behavior. with her having said that with such authority as really knowing the facts, I think puts southerns in a terrible light. I myself am a huge animal lover with lots of pets and her statements really offended me and I am sure other southerns. Maybe she will get enough feedback to acknowledge she might ought to research a little further before making  overall statements about how southerns are.

They were on the View today, did exactly same dance sm
with the slap included. She wasn't outraged, she was acting/dancing.
WRONG-they were on The View live today..n/m

I love Whoopi, too sm

but I've never been able to watch The View for more than a few minutes at a time.  It always sounds like a bunch of gibberish goo to me - everyone trying to talk at one time.  None of them seemed to have enough manners to let the person talking finish her sentence before butting in.  Everyone things what THEY want to say is of the upmost important.

While I'm on a little mini-rant....Larry King does the same thing.  He always has the most interesting guests, but he always butts in with a question before the guest has had a chance to finish the previous sentence.  I invariably end up yelling into the TV "SHUT UP AND LET ****** FINISH HIS SENTENCE".

I'm done.

whoopi is in the middle - not left, not right...

love whoopi, liked Rosie...it's Elisabeth and Barbara

http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=1966746&st=40095

this is television without pity and the link for only The View comments - you have to register to post (which I refuse to do) but it makes for GREAT reading when you have nothing better to do....*lol*

more disappointed on 9/10/07 when

At that point, as of 9/10/07, I'm dumping The View........

I *heard* that Ellen Degeneres' show might be shown at the same time as The View.  Guess what?  That's where I'll be headed if that happens!!  Love her show and she is just so not controversial and SHE IS SMART!!  I think Sherri Sheperd is lacking in the latter area plus 3 comediennes on the panel?  I don't think so......

And Barbara Walters needs to leave.  A lady always knows when to leave but Baba Wawa just doesn't get it.

I am very disappointed
that those are the final 2, but it is a game and they got to the end even though most of us don't appreciate their tactics. I do believe that the person in 2nd place gets money as well, though not as much. I would not bet on them getting along real well after getting out of the house though.
I'm so sorry. You must be really disappointed.
I live in the mid-Atlantic, and we get a real mix of weather. Never tons of anything for months at a time, but every couple of months (or hours!) the weather changes. I was glad that the snow missed us. I hate the shoveling. But it is pretty stuff.
Have you ever been disappointed in your

DD or DS on how they are raising your grandkids. I don't want a rant on DDILs or DSILs.

I spent the week-end keeping the Grands while mom and dad worked. They do not listen well at all. DGS is ADHD, he is not doing well in school and his behavior (at home, not school) is awful. Like I say they do not mind, and DD and DSIL let it go until they are mad and then they yell and threaten to spank them. The kids know that 9 times out of 10, nothing will happen, so they don't quit.

They do listen to me and their other grandmother, because if we say we are going to spank, we do.

They also do not eat well. They eat, fishsticks, chicken nuggets, pizza bites, peanut butter, french fries, yogart and maybe a few other things.

Mom and Dad are junk eaters so they don't serve other things.

I'm disappointed I won't be able to use my little sm
battery-operated TVs anymore. They came in handy during long power outages.

Sm's right. In other words, you can't "watch TV" without a converter box, but still can use the TV for previously recorded things or rental movies on DVD or VHS.
So disappointed

OK New Englander and Heroes hit the nail on the head.   I just wanted clarification that I was not the only person who had this impression.  I don't usually go on public forums to vent BUT...........

Four years ago I met a guy who is a firefighter/paramedic/ER tech (on his days off and when I met him he was training police across the nation for Homeland Security in Haz mat response.  He is college educated, polite, very well mannered.  We have seen each other a few times since I met him and we email and talk frequently.  Sounds like a nice guy, right?

The first of Feb he called me and asked me if he could borrow some money for an unexpected property tax bill.  He changed jobs and moved to a different state right about the time the housing market started to bottom out.  I know in the state I live in if your property is not your principal place of residence your tax rate changes.  Soooo long story short...I sent him a cashier's check, he emailed me and called me and said thanks I couldn't have done it without you.  Then he started talking about coming to my house and do some work for me to work off some of the money and I was thinking well I really need the money but I thought I would just let that part play out.  Then the end of April I emailed him and said I really need to know if you can start paying something on this loan.  You guessed it...he has not answered, nor has he called me.  Three more emails have gone unanswered.  My whole family was police officers and I always held police and fire in high esteem....these are the people who put their lives on the line for us everyday.  Boy am I ever stupid.....So anyone have any ideas?

Really disappointed this year but still watching
I have chosen Melinda since the beginning but Jordan was also good last night. I like your choices but after that it is all downhill for me. This is the weakest crowd of singers yet. Saw them in concert about 3 years when they made their rounds afterward, not wasting my time anymore. I hope the worst goes, otherwise I fear for the show's staying power.
I'm also disappointed that you chose this route.
It seemed obvious that you didn't want the paddling to happen, but you caved and let someone else (school and daughter) make the decision.

Whether one is for or against corporal punishment isn't even the issue for me. The bigger thing with me is the thought that some adult getting may be getting his/her thrills from paddling a teenage girl.
I'm disappointed that you said yes - you can go to the school and change your mind! (nm)

I was disappointed in the group last night basically
No one really grabbed me like I would like them to. Adam was okay but I am just not into him as well. The group overall had none of the zing felt with the first group. Oh, well, I think there is a brand new group next week, isn't that so and how many more groups are there?
I'm very disappointed, but not in what you call "anti-Christian posts."
Have you heard this famous quote from St. Francis of Assisi: “Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.”

He was a very great man who encouraged Christian action and greatly discouraged people preaching AT others.

Looking at holiday pics, I am so disappointed in my double chin. sm
Any ideas how to get rid of this fat bag around my chin/neck area?  Do you just have to lose a lot of weight for it to decrease?  I am obese at 180 lbs, 5Ɗ".  But boy it just looks horrible in pics.  It bothers me more than the actual overall weight does.  Guess diet is in for my New Years's resolutions........
I can't stop laughing....Whoopi in the middle? If she is in the middle, rush limbaugh is very far
She is further left than Rosie.
What do you think of the quality of clothing today. What I looked at shopping today in nice stores
the stuff wasnt even sewn properly.  Do you have to look at everything you buy or just hope it lasts a year.
Added fresh chives today. to the egg today.
and a SMIDGE of soy sauce.
my view
What if your daughter was a smoker? Would you allow her to smoke in the house simply because she can smoke at school?

That said ... ask your daughter for the name of the rock group and CD, and then do a Google search for the lyrics.
I need a view from the outside
What to do about a family member who accused me of something that was totally untrue and too hurtful to even discuss, and that person's birthday is in two days. We had a heated discussion and I asked for an apology and got none. I have never, ever let her birthday go before. My mom is elderly and I don't want her hurt by this. What should I do? I am so angry I can't see straight right now and hurt. This an immediate family member, not extended. Do I suck it up once again and send a card and then show up at her dinner? We usually go out for our birthdays. Would be interested in any comment you might have. Either way it does not seem like the thing to do.
She's on The View right now

Just another view.
Where do one persons right to choose trump another persons right to choose. If this were a government run pharmacy, I could see requiring sales of certain items or medications. However, if it is privately owned, my right to choose to use birth control does not trump another persons right to decide what is sold in someone's privately owned store.
Another view

I believe I stopped having themed parties when my daughter was about 11 or 12, but when we went to see family, they took her and me out to dinner or lunch, had birthday cards, cake, or a special meal at home--maybe some money if they could afford to do so.  One reason might be the cost of gifts that older children have come to expect, also the fact they become more choosy and harder to please about styles of clothing, as well as "toys."  I had a friend who gave her children elaborate Easter baskets until they married and left home...that's what she liked to do--and that was fine!  I just could not afford to do what she did for her children, ever, for any occasion.

It's remembering a special day that counts, not the party or gifts; I'm thankful my daughter learned that earlier than some and is passing that viewpoint on to my granddaughter.

The view - new host
I saw Roseanne on the view a few weeks ago and she seems to have really mellowed. But to watch her everyday - no way. I think she would turn into a Rosie or worse. I would like to see another younger person on - perhaps a bit older than Elisabeth - but someone definitely in their 30's early 40's and someon who doesn't begin with an agenda. Then I might watch again.
The View Update
Well, they were both on today and they're still together. She's moving to Hawaii and they are still engaged, but they basically said they had to fall in love all over again away from the cameras so there's no wedding date.
Did anyone watch The View this--sm
morning and get the name of the book/author Whoopie was talking about?  It was "The Education of???" It is about a young Indian boy and his life. It was an Ophra book club book until she found out the author (who is now dead) was in the KKK and she pulled the book from her list. We live in Cherokee, NC and my kids are into tribal life.
so true - especially considering my view
in house was no windows and cinderblock walls in a hospital.  Love the birds of prey - have a lady here that rehabilitates and I have seen kestrels, vultures, red-tailed, barred owls, great horned owls and more up close and personal.  Just saw a huge hawk overhead- freaked me out - haven't seen him around - couldn't train the binoculars fast enough but he looked bigger than a red tail.
I can see it from that point of view though (nm)

How'd you like to have this view from your bathroom?

The presidential suite bathroom at New York's Mandarin Oriental. The 2,640-square-foot suite rents for $14,000 a night.

a different point-of-view
If you don't like your SIL, why would he want to help you?  Is it possible you've conveyed this dislike of him through your actions to him or that your daughter has shared your feelings about him with him?  If so, then I can see why he wouldn't feel obliged to help.  More than likely, he feels like he's being used.  If he's not good enough for your daughter, why is he good enough to help you move?
a kid's point of view ...sm

I just had conversation with a fellow Sunday School teacher about what GIFTS would be good to give this kids this Christmas.   At one point this gal asked her son (12 yrs. old) if he had any ideas what the kids would like to get.   His response "gee, mom, I thought Christmas was about GIVING, not getting."   Out of the mouth of babes, right? !!

Maybe it's adults who get too hung up on what we do or don't do for gifts, activities, etc.   Bet your children are just glad to have a good mom !!

I think your view does not generally match
up with most.. She looks like a real gold-digger to me. What about others out there?
My view of Hayley was if you've got it SM
flaunt it. However, the evening she wore that halter top with her boobs jiggling all over the place, was a bit much. If they jiggle that much, you need to have some type of support, and they claimed she was a devout Christian. Yes, Christians can wear skimpy clothes, but no jiggle please.

Yes, I'm probably just jealous! LOL!
Rosie Leaving The View
Just watching The View.  I know a lot of you wil be happy.  Rosie just announced that she's leaving The View.  I didn't catch exactly when she was leaving or why, but she did mention her children as a factor.
It's about time! Now I can watch the View without ...sm
getting annoyed when she starts her tirade and turning off the TV. My lunch time will now be pleasant again!
Thank you so much for sharing your point of view (sm)
I really appreciate you sharing your story. His dad is in the picture but they are polar opposites. I do have a couple of questions I want to ask you but I better get back to work for now - I'll ask later and hopefully you will check back and won't mind answering. Thanks again!
Whoopie! New co-host of the view is

Whoopie Goldberg!

I know am going to watch again!

Rosie just turned my stomach.  Blechhhhhh.

Good job, Babs.

From a man's point of view on same sex lines
He told me just this morning most guys do not want to be on chat lines with other guys, do not want to even see things like that nor talk about it even. He says most guys he knows shy away from anything even resembling gay issues, no magazines, no chat lines, nothing. He works at a trucking firm and he says never hears other discussing subjects like this. He thinks there is more than just the chatting going on. This is from my man's point of view.
Look at it from their point of view. You have lived there 20 sm
years and may live there another 20 - they want to update. You don't have a lease - you are month-to-month and although you have been an ideal tenant - it is their property and they cannot do their renovations with you in there. I would try to rent another unit in the building if possible - but not sure you have any legal right to stay there - but hoping for your sake I am wrong!!
The View. Dress or jeans?

Here's the pizza guy's point of view

Why is it that when confronted with a different point of view,
passages from the bible? That seems to be some people's answer to everything they can't (or won't) understand. The bible (like the I-Ching, the Torah, the Quran, etc.) is merely a fundamental of one's belief, and passages and ideas can be tweeked and quoted in different contexts to come out meaning pretty much anything you want them to. That it why not of that can be taken literally - it's merely a rough draft, if you will.

The thing is, you have every right to your beliefs, but you have no right to force others to conform to them so as not to offend you. You all need to grow thicker skins and realize that not everyone is going to want to limit themselves to a small, small way of thinking.

They talked about this on The View for 2 days and

even to the point as to how they have sex and that's ALL going to be revealed on her show tonight. I'm definitely not going to watch. Those 2 make me sick, especially now that she/he is pregnant again and due in June! BW thinks she's doing the world a favor by doing this special report.

The reason it kept its female parts was to have kids. What gets me is they never heard of adoption? Why not adopt? Because they wanted to make money, that's why.

I don't know how many times they pointed out that she is now a legal male on all records, SS#, birth (how'd they accomplish that?), marriage license, medical history, etc. If she/he is a legal male, she/he shouldn't have the reproductive organs. Period.

I feel sorry for the kids. They will be so confused because they are going to tell them as soon as they're old enough  to speak and/or understand.

This world is going to h---- in a handbasket.

Now Roseanne is supposed to host The View? SM
If they want a kvetchy Jewish woman to host, I would be glad to oblige. But Roseanne? Oy Vey!
Google can now see via street view INTO HOMES
Google Zooms In Too Close for Some

Mary Kalin-Casey and her cat, Monty, at home in Oakland, Calif. A Google map service can zoom in so closely on buildings that it has caused Ms. Kalin-Casey and others to complain to the company and on blogs.

Published: June 1, 2007

OAKLAND, Calif., May 31 — For Mary Kalin-Casey, it was never about her cat.

"

Monty the cat was visible in a photo showing a street in Oakland.

Ms. Kalin-Casey, who manages an apartment building here with her husband, John Casey, was a bit shaken when she tried a new feature in Google’s map service called Street View. She typed in her address and the screen showed a street-level view of her building. As she zoomed in, she could see Monty, her cat, sitting on a perch in the living room window of her second-floor apartment.

“The issue that I have ultimately is about where you draw the line between taking public photos and zooming in on people’s lives,” Ms. Kalin-Casey said in an interview Thursday on the front steps of the building. “The next step might be seeing books on my shelf. If the government was doing this, people would be outraged.”

Her husband quickly added, “It’s like peeping.”

Ms. Kalin-Casey first shared her concerns about the service in an e-mail message to the blog Boing Boing on Wednesday. Since then, the Web has been buzzing about the privacy implications of Street View — with varying degrees of seriousness. Several sites have been asking users to submit interesting images captured by the Google service, which offers panoramic views of miles of streets around San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, Miami and Denver.

On a Wired magazine blog, for instance, readers can vote on the “Best Urban Images” that others find in Street View. On Thursday afternoon, a picture of two young women sunbathing in their bikinis on the Stanford campus in Palo Alto, Calif., ranked near the top. Another showed a man scaling the front gate of an apartment building in San Francisco. The caption read, “Is he breaking in or has he just locked himself out?”

Google said in a statement that it takes privacy seriously and considered the privacy implications of its service before it was introduced on Tuesday. “Street View only features imagery taken on public property,” the company said. “This imagery is no different from what any person can readily capture or see walking down the street.”

Google said that it had consulted with public service organizations and considered their feedback in developing the service, which allows users to request that a photo be removed for privacy reasons. A Google spokeswoman said the company had received few such requests.

For instance, Google worked with the Safety Net Project at the National Network to End Domestic Violence, which represents shelters for victims of domestic violence nationwide, to remove pictures of those shelters. “They reached out in advance to us so we could reach out to our network,” said Cindy Southworth, founder and director of the organization.

Not everyone believes the service raises serious privacy concerns.

“You don’t have a right to ‘privacy’ over what can be seen while driving the speed limit past your house,” wrote a Boing Boing reader, identified as Rich Gibson, in response to Ms. Kalin-Casey’s complaint. Others dismissed her as a crazy cat lady.

Edward A. Jurkevics, a principal at Chesapeake Analytics, a consulting firm specializing in mapping and imagery, said that courts have consistently ruled that people in public spaces can be photographed. “In terms of privacy, I doubt if there is much of a problem,” Mr. Jurkevics said.

Still, the issues raised by the service, thorny or merely funny, were perfect blog fodder. The hunt was on for quirky or potentially embarrassing images that could be found by wandering the virtual streets of the service.

There was the picture of a clearly identifiable man standing in front of an establishment offering lap dances and other entertainment in San Francisco. The site LaudonTech.com showed an image of a man entering a pornographic bookstore in Oakland, but his face was not visible.

Others pointed to pictures of cars whose license plates were clearly readable. One pointed to images captured inside the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, a controversial location for photography in this high-security era. On Lombard Street in San Francisco, various tourists who had come to photograph the famously curvy street were photographed themselves.

Google said that the images had been captured by vehicles equipped with special cameras. The company took some of the photographs itself and purchased others from Immersive Media, a data provider.

“I think that this product illustrates a tension between our First Amendment right to document public spaces around us, and the privacy interests people have as they go about their day,” said Kevin Bankston, a staff lawyer at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights group. Mr. Bankston said Google could have avoided privacy concerns by blurring people’s faces.

Back at her apartment, Ms. Kalin-Casey acknowledged that plenty of information about her — that she manages an apartment complex, that she was an Editor at the film site Reel.com — is already easily accessible through Google and other search engines.

“People’s jobs are pretty public,” she said. “But that doesn’t mean they want a shot of their sofa on Google.” She has asked Google to remove the image of her building, which was still online as of Thursday evening.

When a reporter first arrived to interview her, Monty the cat was visible in the window.

At my last in-house job I had a rear-view mirror
I kid you not. My work station was situated so my back was to the door and I'm like you - when I am concentrating on something I get startled very easily. But usually I would catch a flicker of movement in the mirror and look over so people couldn't sneak up on me. In fact, people who didn't know the mirror was there were really surprised when I said hello to them without even turning around!
Here is another truck driver's wife's view
My husband was older than yours when he (and I) married. He was 49, first marriage. We spend a tremendous amount of time together, he even has his computer setup in my workroom. When he wants downtime, he has his own room for his guitar strumming and then a real stay-around type person. I love the time we are together so don’t know what to say to the original poster but not much of a marriage there if no time left over for wife.
I really see and feel strongly about both points of view here. sm
I will say I am a Catholic, and a divorced one. I am not practicing at this point, but I am not an unbeliever...exactly. I consider myself a gnostic Catholic, and that is a story for another day.

The so-called Christian morals we have in this country are SELF-IMPOSED. They are with all religions. I consider myself a Christian, so I don't believe in sin because well, Christ died on the cross for the forgiveness of sin...even BEFORE we think about sinning. So, some of this I don't buy into.

If anyone thinks they have the slightest idea of what God wants them to do, they need therapy! WHY would any of us think we know the mind of the Divine??? I don't care how religious you are, YOU DO NOT KNOW THE MIND OF GOD.

I was in an extremely abusive marriage. He abused me, the kids, our minds, our bodies, our hearts, our souls. I was married in the Catholic church and I am still married in the church, having a divorce without an annulment. I made the commitment to keep only to this one man and that I have done. I live celibate for a number of reasons and my spoken commitment in the Catholic church is one of them.

Their respective marriages are over and not because of each other. They are free to be together if they choose to do so. Being arrogant enough to think he knows what God would want, yes he needs therapy! I think he is a bad bet for her because he will always come right back to what God would want, has no ability to exercise the Free Will God gave him, can't think for himself and would be pretty useless as a husband. This may, in fact, be what drove his wife to kick him out! Milquetoast!
F11 didnt work and I am finding nothing under View on my toolbar. sm
Thanks for your suggestions. Does anyone know how to make that darn paragraph symbol go away? I have those and a bunch of arrows all over my document!
