Wal-Mart to the rescue...what we found...sm
ring just like she wants for $124.99. The exact same quality and design of ring through the school contact? $335. Someone's getting rich off of students if allowed! The best part is she'll have the ring within 2 weeks from Wal-Mart versus 3 months from the school vendor.
Wal-Mart does offer health insurance to their workers. Wal-Mart pays part and the employee SM
pays part of the premium.  Just like other companies do.
Lists
I agree with this. Also, would say it depends on account specifics and how the hospital wants it done, all up to them.
Do what you want to do, not what the lists tell you -sm
Just because it is on a list does not mean you have to do it. I planned my whole wedding well in advance and it all went great. All we did was a wedding in my parents back yard, had about 40-50 guests, had food catered and enjoyed ourselves. I did get a cake though (my 1st and only wedding hopefully) as I had this vision of how I wanted certain things to be, flowers and a wedding dress; but that is about as traditional as I went. We had a swim party reception; no DJ, just the radio playing. Still somewhat expensive, all in all it cost about $5K, that is everything from flowers to the honeymoon, but in terms of the big picture rather reasonable. As for a wedding gift to hubby, we sort of did that, but not on the wedding day. He ended up buying me china on our honeymoon (found a complete set of 9 of some beautiful Wedgwood in Canada for $400, so we stamped it up); and I got us a weekend package to the Pocono's for race weekend (Nascar) as a 1-month anniversary gift. Just go with your gut and don't get pressured into doing anything you do not want to do; and have fun!
Don't let these lists influence you..just get.
xx
Yeah but so why do they buy lists
of people with bad credit and inundate them with offers of credit cards (at huge interest fees of course). And people who have filed bankruptcy, they can't give you enough credit after that.

I'm not saying everyone who files bankruptcy is scamming the system but the ones who do by running up as many charges as they can before declaring it so they don't have to pay for any of it really tick me off and they totally get away with it. And I think the credit card companies just write it all off anyway. Meanwhile those of us who are plugging along and paying them off, albeit it slowly, are treated like second class citizens.
you can choose a realtor who uses/lists
with the MLS service. We've moved a lot and never would use a realtor who didn't.

We had luck too before listing in the LA Times or San Fran papers when we had a place in the country/mid USA..had a party fly out to see it, and paid cash. Appeal to what people are wanting, ie, escape the high crime, the crowded city, live surrounded by nature/georgeous trees...good luck!

Pet food - is there a web site that lists all the foods being recalled? nm

Worried about my golden retriever.

Here is a great site that lists all current deals on CCs......
Use the drop down menu to search the different features. I have used it to find balance transfer deals, etc.
I've seen Smokey and Bandit show up on other top 10 lists. Sadie?? nm

Love the "family tree" idea! My lists inside.........
Let's see........

Jewerly for girls - name bracelets and necklaces.

Name poems and frames (still get updated requests for these and will be on my list this year). Those kind that say J is for so and so, etc.

Rice socks one year.

Candles and lotions. I bought the kits to do this with at Hobby Lobby and let my kids help make them.

Keepsake boxes. I got the copy paper boxes that are very sturdy, wrapped in material, and decorated the box and top. Makes really good keepsake boxes and you could also do several sized boxes too.

Photo albums - also bought plain and decorated with material, ribbons, buttons, etc. Picture frames could be done the same way.

One year we made stones for the grandparents. Bought the kits at Hobby Lobby and decorated with stones and engraved sayings on them. You could do hand prints or just about anything. For my mom, we made memory stones of my sister, my grandmother, and my grandfather. We just put one that said "in loving memory of" and the other's with their names on them. She put them in her rose garden.
Thank God for daughters
My daughter came home and started going through scripture. This is what she came up with. It made me even sadder thinking about what a loss it is to lose a child.

Our dearest friends, "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you." -1 James 5:7 We are truly sorry for the world's loss and your pain. We're here for you.

me: Appreciate the input to all who posted. I knew she'd do it for me, but wasn't sure if she'd be here in time.

This is so sad....
I have three daughters (sm)
My oldest daughter has a different father than my youngest two. This situation had nothing with a breach of faithfulness to my ex-husband or current husband. I've been entirely faithful in my marriages. My current husband raises her as his own and has since before she was 2. We have as close to a nuclear family as can be expected in this situation.

We cannot assume that because children have different biological fathers (or mothers) in one family that there was some wrongdoing. :)
Two daughters 14 and 4
1. What ages are your kids?

14 and 4

2. Do they have their own cell phone? No,we were planning on getting my daughter a prepaid cell phone for Christmas until we realized all she wanted it for was to text and talk to her friends even though we had told her it was just for emergencies. She uses her father's cell phone if she needs to be away from home where I don't have an exact time to pick her up and has to call for a ride. Too many of her friends have cell phones and run up $500 bills and their parents think nothing of it (that's why we were leaning towards a prepay) or have the most expensive cell phones on the market. We also thought that she'd use up in her minutes in weeks instead of months.

3. Do they have their own TV and or computer in their room? If so, are there set hours they're allowed to use these: My four year doesn't have a TV yet, but my oldest does. She has her own laptop computer courtesy of her cousin, but it's right next to mine and she only can be on it for an hour a day. She's been grounded from it so many times for going over the hour, but she knows there are consequences for not following the rules.

4. Do they receive an allowance? If so, are they required to do chores to receive this?

The four year old doesn't yet, although she helps me more than the 14 year old without asking. LOL. The 14 year old just gets $5 a week for doing her chores, more when I'm really busy and I need her to watch her younger sister.

my daughters are 5, 2, and 1 so they don't say anything
sometimes the 5 year old will aske me why I don't like granny or why granny doesn't talk to me.

To answere your question, no, not really.

Long story short, brother in law was in jail and wanted pics of our kids. we said no and told her not to send either. she sent them anyway and when my husband called to say something to her about it, he talked to his dad and he got all mad about us not wanting pics of our kids in jail. they did not call us, talk to us, see our kids for 6 months. Then want to pretend like nothing ever happened (with my husband) when they came for a b-day party in Nov. This was the first time we saw them and she gave me a complete attitude, did not speak to me, turned her back to me everytime I said anything.
anyone have cheerleader daughters? sm
my 15yo is trying out next week.  she was cheerleader on little league squads, but hasn't been in jr. high and now trying out for varsity.  they have to make up their own cheer.  any ideas?  i've been searching the net just for some ideas and everything is just the same ole, same ole.  FYI, not trying to copy but just get some ideas to make the brain flow for me/her to try to put somethign together.  she needs something different and unique to make her stand out since she is up against lots of cheerleaders that have been on the squad for years. something short, with a jump or two in it.  HELP please!!!
my 19 and 21 year old daughters sm
wore a size 4 shoe since they were 12.  It is hard for them to get grown up looking shoes. They are about 5 feet.  They would love to have bigger feet.  They take after my mother in law who was a size 4 her whole life.
puberty/daughters
There are many variations of menarche and the menstrual cycle that are considered "normal" from one female to another. For instance, my daughter, who is now 15, had her menarche at age 10; however, it was very light, brief, and definitely not from month-to-month. She developed early, is very tall (5ཆ"), and is of medium-to-slender build. She now has regular cycles, albeit on the "long" side, of approximately 36-40 days. She has played soccer and basketball.

They say that sometimes the daughter's OB/GYN history will follow that of the mother - but not always. I was on the track team in high school, was always very active with school, chorus, and band, but my body type was very thin and tiny. I weighed less than 95 pounds in my senior year. I am currently in my early 40s and weigh about 112 pounds (two pregnancies, with nine and ten-pound babies - no gestational diabetes) and am 5ƈ". I did not reach menarche until about the age of 15, but my cycles are short, about 26 days.

Just as with babies and potty training, for example, as long as there is no pain, sharp or otherwise, no passing large clots, fever, etc., I'm sure all will be well. It (puberty with fruition of regular menses) is "gearing up" in a sense. In fact, before my daughter's very first period, red blood cells were detected on a routine urine culture. The pediatrician knew right away that menarche was pending; sure enough, it happened within a couple of weeks.
btw, with your attitude, if you have daughters
I'd be willing to bet they would have an abortion behind your back rather than suffer your judgment by having a baby at a young age or out of wedlock.  Would that feel good on your conscience?  You could be missing out on the joy of grandbabies!
Thanks for this info. My 2 daughters and
I just bought a batch of 6 each. Thanks again.
but that is not you daughters fault sm
that you had such a horrible life. I feel for you. I too had a pretty rough childhood but no way would I even think to make one of my kids pay for that. Sounds like you need some serious counseling or you are going to be one miserable lonely old lady.
Two daughters go back next Wednesday
Two days after Labor Day. One starting 8th grade at a the Junior High and one starting preschool. I'm in NY.
As the mother of two young daughters
one who got pregnant with her loser boyfriend at 20 - I can only send hugs and more hugs.  No amount of talking did any good - she knew better and was making some kind of statement to us and she got pregnant still thought she was a smarty pants - they then split up, she met someone else, immedately became engaged, planned a wedding and got PG again before wedding.  It has only been 18 months since the wedding but she knows she rushed through everything, has regrets but has learned lessons.  I would just push contraception, I would let her know how disappointed you are - you have a right to your feelings - support her in other ways if you can and try not to let it ruin your relationship.  She is due for a huge fall but they somehow need to experience this.  I am so sorry!!
Amen! My daughters and I do laugh
about this now. I went through this twice. The first daughter was not as bad as the second daughter. They were six years apart so I did get kind of a break. Believe, me this phase does pass.
Our two daughters "came out" a year or so ago...
and it wasn't really a shock. I had already suspected it when they were wearing rainbow stuff, even had a rainbow dental retainer, but my husband just didn't want to believe and stated that everyone likes rainbows and that didn't mean anything LOL.  Our children were afraid of our reaction so that is why they delayed telling us. I wish they would have realized a long time ago that if they were purple, polka-dot or whatever they chose to be, we love them the same.  One of them is still unsure of her sexuality so we just stay supportive while she finds her own identity etc.  My husband's daughter who came out was afraid to tell her maternal grandparents, and when she did, she got the reaction she expected, total abandonment and was told to never discuss her life with them at all. That is very sad to me.  We continue to support and love them and keep an open mind when we have met their "partners." I will admit at first I was sad because at some point you realize all the dreams you have for your child are gone as in getting married, having children etc.. but I soon realized that this can still happen, just not in the tradition way.  Love is unconditional. That's my thought.
Good advice for your daughters.

Hi XXX:  Read all your posts with Mom with girls.  Basically I agree with most everything you say.  I too took my daughter to Family Planning Clinic, where she was given BC pills.  I told her the facts of life and warned her about consequences of getting pregnant or some diseases too.  I left the decision up to her and the responsibility of taking the pills.  She was 18 at that time and already graduated from high school, so legally an adult.  She did become pregnant at 18 and went through pregnancy and gave birth, but not married.  The father came along and helped with money to raise his child.  They did have a stormy time of it, but now they are 31 and 30 with 3 more children.  She was lucky because her husband is very responsible now, building contractor and very good father.  he absolutely loves his children, so my daughter was very lucky.  Of course we know that not all girls have a happy ending to their story.

All you can do as a mother is to support your children, give them guidance and proper moral standards that hopefully they will live by.  I have really tried very hard to not be judgmental or to criticize when the problems came.  I think that is probably the worse thing to do to your kids.  After all we all make mistakes.  Of course it is easier to give advice than the actual practicing of this advice.  Whatever happens to your kids, try to stand by them and love them.

How will our daughters learn to stand up for themselves if we do not lead by example
I have always stood up for my daughter and have tried to teach her the same and now that she is getting older I can see that it is paying off. You go girl!!!!!
Questions for moms with daughters in puberty.. sm
My daughter will be 13 in December. Back in early August she had what I thought was the starting of her menses. She had some blood for about one week and then done. She has not had anything for the month of September. Is this normal? When I started I never remember stopping after the first one. She does play a lot of soccer and takes dance, so that might be part of it to. Any other mom's experiencing this?? She knows all about sex and pregnancy, so I know that is not an issue, especially since she goes nowhere without me or her dad.  Thanks for any input.
I named my daughters Katie Ann and Kelsey Nicole. sm
Our son is Kyle. I also like the name Kellen for a boy or a girl. Good luck!
Thank you! From a Mom who had 2 daughters, serving 3 separate tours in Iraq - twice over Christmas.

Wal-Mart - $12 plus $2 tip - sm
I paid $20 plus $4 tip for a couple of years and was never completely satisfied but scared to switch hairdressers. I was in Wal-Mart one day and got a look at myself in the mirror and marched straight to the beauty shop in the store and got a cut. Been going there ever since and am completely satisfied...with cut, price, and convenience. No appointment necessary. I just go whenever I start looking straggly.
Wal-Mart
I was told Merry Christmas at Wal-Mart by the check-out lady last night. . but it is a small town in Ky.. so it might be different in a bigger town.
I have one from Wal-Mart....sm
I got a Bissell with attachments. I love it. I used it just tonight for the first time. You should have seen the dirty water!! I think for the price it is great. It has a switch where you can choose a heavy duty cleaning or a normal cleaning or just a water rinse. I love it so far!!
Hah ! Wal Mart
I swear, at my Wal Mart Saturday nights are a zoo, every weirdo in the county is there. Two weeks ago I was online with my 11 year old daughter for over 45 minutes. There was a woman in front of me with a teenage, a girl who looked about 13, and another who looked about 10. The mother was having a phone conversation on her cell phone, and every other word out of her mouth was the F word. I finally told my daughter to go look at the books so she wouldn't hear this woman anymore. I should have said something to this woman, but she looked like she could beat the heck out of me, so I didn't.
Wal-Mart nm
:)
actually I like K mart because they still have Lay A way
you have to get a credit card instead
OK. I have to stick up for Wal Mart and here is why: sm
Wal Mart is NO different than any other department store or retail store on the market today. Why do people think that you CAN raise a family while working as a cashier at Wal Mart? Or a greeter? You can't. Just as you couldn't if you were a cashier at your local grocers. These people are there to ring up our products, take our money, etc, just like any other cashier's job. You can't raise a family on a salary like that ANYWHERE so why is everyone blaming Wal Mart for low wages? The last I looked our local grocer was hiring for 7.00 an hour and that is 1.50 less than what our local Wal Mart pays.

Second. Health insurance. A company that is privately owned DOES NOT have to offer insurance for it's employees. Hence, again, go look for a company that does offer it if you need it. Don't blame Wal Mart. The employee has choices. They can work somewhere else. It is expensive!! If they offered its employees ALL of these benefits people keep crying about then guess what? They wouldn't be Wal-Mart anymore. They would be called Wal-Mall because that's what would happen to their prices. They would go WAY up! And then I wouldn't be able to get a loaf of bread for 87 cents. You get the picture. Wal-Mart does a lot of families very GOOD. They dont' have unions because unions cost a TON of money. Once again, they would have to raise prices enormously if they were to form a union. I don't want that. I don't need a Wal-Mall, I need a Wal-Mart.

So, to drive my point in further, let me sum it all up for you: 1. You aren't supposed to earn a living working at Wal-Mart. If you have to raise a family, get an education or a better paying job and don't blame Wal Mart for paying wages that your local grocer or department store pays just because you think "they can afford it." 2. If Wal Mart starts offering insurance to all employees, form unions, etc., then Wal-Mart would be just like our competitor here in town, Publix, who drive up prices 40 to 50% so that they CAN pay their employees health insurance, etc., which is fine - that is their business. But I am smart. And given the choice of paying 2.50 for a loaf of bread or 87 cents, I think the latter is a much better choice for me and my family.

If your convictions stop you, then don't shop there. But Wal Mart is just too good a thing to pass up for millions of families.

I will say this in contrast, though. I don't always go to Wal Mart because I hate crowds. I do occasionally shop at our local Publix as I find them friendlier and more convenient. But, I always spend a lot of money and don't get nearly as much for my money except maybe peace of mind.

I HATE Wal-Mart!!!

So, last weekend, 10/27, I ordered a large Nintendo Wii bundle (this includes a bunch of games and accessories) from Wal-Mart's website for my daughter for Christmas. On 10/30, I received an email stating that the Wii console was "not available" and they were canceling this part of my order. I tried to cancel the rest of my order, but WM does not allow you to cancel online orders once you place them. Obviously, I'm extremely mad as I now have a bunch of games and accessories for the Wii but no way to play/use them!! I really feel like I was tricked into buying this very expensive bundle when there's no guarantee that I will be able to get the Wii console before Christmas. I actually filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and sent a letter to Wal-Mart's corporate office. I received a response back from their customer service dept stating that they would call me to "resolve this issue" within one business day, but that was 2 days ago and nothing as of yet. The really crappy part on their behalf is that they are STILL selling this Wii bundle on their website and it states it's IN STOCK when they know very well that it's not!! So, I'm not the only one that is going to be tricked into paying hundreds of dollars for games and accessories and not getting the Wii console!

I really don't know if there is someone else that I can complain to - like the Attorney General or what??? I really feel like this is very unethical of them to do this. I know I can take all the games and accessories to the store to get a refund for that, but I'm still out the shipping charges which isn't right.

Please all you WM haters don't flame me for shopping there in the first place. I've never had a problem with them before and I'm not sure why they are treating me like this now. I really just wanted to get ideas or suggestions from anyone that knows whether this is illegal or just unethical and if there's anything I could do about it, besides complain on here and hope I keep someone else from shopping at this horrid place :)

Wal-Mart & WiFi sm
I live near a new Super one, thought it would be an added incentive since all the other stores in my area have closed and I have to go a distance to get anything I need. The store is dirty, employees are rude, most do NOT speak English, just point when you ask a question and the place smells like BO all the time. Nobody washes up anymore either, never mind dress up and be courteous! Anyway, to answer your question, they are setting up a WI-Fi area near where the Christmas trees have been since Sept., and I am sure they will be getting in shipments any day. If you live within 50 miles of one, it may be worth the trip to keep calling and see if you can pick one up right from the store. I did fall for their After Thanksgiving sales pitch once, got up at 4:00 AM only to find they had only a few per store and were all out. I am used to old-fashioned service and commitment, I don't go for this bait and switch, but hey, it's WAL-MART! You get what you pay for. So sorry, have had the same experience at the holidays. Complaining is like spitting in the ocean, won't do you much good and may come back to spray you. Try to relax and enjoy the holidays, I know we hate to disappoint our kids. Once I had to resort to cutting out a picture of what they wanted and they had to wait until after Christmas, they were just as happy though as they knew it was coming sooner or later. TTFN
Wal-mart Cake

Keep in mind this actually really did happen!!!!   This is someone who was moving from a claims office.

Okay so this is how I imagine this conversation went:

Walmart Employee:   "Hello 'dis Walmart, how can I help you?"
Customer: " I would like to order a cake for a going away party this week."
Walmart Employee:  "What you want on the cake?"
Customer:  "Best Wishes Suzanne" and underneath that "We will miss you".
Walmart Employee: "Dat all? Okay, Bye."

Seems llike I got something like that at Wal-Mart
NM
Wish I DID have a phobia of Wal-Mart
I'd have a little more money..LOL. .
Why do stores, like Wal-Mart,

always redesign their layout just when I finally learn where things are?

Why are the seats of the carts at Wal-Mart so little?  My 3-year-old barely fits in.

Why is it when I go to buy something on sale or "as advertised", the store never has it in stock?

Wal-Mart employee
I read about that as well - pitifully sad.   Shows the state of manners and common decency in this country.  If they ever find out who it was who incited this, they should get the book thrown at them!   That is one of the reasons why I shop online the majority of the time...
I always hear: Get a job at Wal-Mart..sm
Not everybody lives in the vicinity of a Wal-Mart or Wendy's, duh?
I too have a Wal-Mart brace
but I paid 14.97 for mine. It is mostly gray and very firm which is good. It sucks to work in and it makes it hurt more when I first wear it. I wear mine at night, which a lot of people say not too, but I think that at night I don't really have control of it and I could possibly hurt it worse. So I slather on some ActivOn, put on the brace, and then sleep and then I wear it until I work and that usually does the trick. Good luck!!! This job takes a toll on the wrists... and the BUTT!!!
Wal-Mart WILL celebrate Christmas...
Look it up on CNN.com.  Made the decision today.   MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL!!!
Have both worked at and shopped at Wal-Mart
My experience both as a part-time employee working odd hours for extra money while the kids were small to shopping there to stretch the overall family budget has been overall positive.  I dunno what the big whoop is.
yep, automotive stores and I think Wal-Mart
any store that has an automotive department, could be K-Mart, Auto-Zone, anywhere mechanics get their stuff from.......maybe even the grocery store in the automotive aisle...where you can pick up oil.....
