You did the right thing. The only time I give rides is near the Appalachian Trail.

I'm a hiker myself, and the trail community does depend on the kindness of strangers. Near the trail during hiking season, I will pick up hikers with backpacks. I've been on the trail many times myself, and I've had to stick a thumb out more than a few times. But that is an entirely different situation where the hitchhikers are generally the ones who are more nervous than the drivers.

That's fantastic! It's Appalachian Trail BTW
I'm not being a spelling officer, I just wanted to clarify the name of the trail. I'm an avid Appalachian Trail hiker. (AT for short.) I've been hiking sections of the trail since I was 18, and will be doing a 100-mile section hike in Virginia this year. I'm 46 and plan to continue hiking this great trail for as long as I can put one foot in front of the other!
To hike 150 miles to the Appalachian Trail
I love to backpack, but I haven't had time to do a nice long trip. I've gotten a lot of obligations off my plate this year, and will have time to go into the woods again. I already have a 70-mile trip planned for spring.

When I die and my survivors put up photos of me around the funeral home, I want most of them to be my smiling face as I stand on a trail with beautiful scenery behind me. :)
Young lady killed here in Georgia, Appalachian trail hiker
and she was enjoying going out about 2 years ago, killed on a mountain here by man posing as hiker. She was a young, vibrant lady in her 20s, he was in his 60s. I think I am getting this right when I say he used her police baton she carried for protection, wrestled it away from her and killed her with it. Is not the trail you hike on known for lot of crimes? This murder happened on that same trail where you give rides to strangers. This man was well known to other hikers there as he hung out on the trail lots of times.
No! That sounds too desperate. TIME. Just give it TIME. If it is real, then sm
something will definitely evolve. If you like him, flirt back! Don't act desperate because if he DOES like you, then the suspense will just make him want to get to know you more. Trust me on this.

I worked in the medical records department of a hospital when I was single and dated a few co-workers in my early 30s. It was fun. Nothing serious came about any of the relationships.

This sounds like fun - the beginning of maybe something to come....Keep us informed.
funny thing about when you decide to give up...

on men/relationships...That is when the right one comes along! That's how it happened for me. I, like you, had decided I was done with men, too many bad experiences, and then I met THE right guy for me.  That was almost 11 years ago and we have been married for 7-1/2 years. We have a happy marriage and a beautiful little 15-month-old girl. It's when you stop looking that the right one comes along!

The most important thing, though, is to trust your instincts. They will never steer you wrong. From your description, it sounds like a good thing, but if there is a doubt that nags at you, don't dismiss it. Just don't let prior bad relationships cloud your judgment, because they are all different.

The sad thing is she didn't have to give them up until noon on Wednesday....
and she gave them to him today...unless she is checking into rehab again you would think she would want to spend as much time with them as possible...
Can you give time to a charity?
Ever since I started helping out with charity events around Christmas it seems that I love the holiday even more. Maybe help the Salvation Army collect money/toys or hand them out? I saw an interview with Ann Curry where she said that giving around the holidays helps her, too. That it's hard to be sad when you see all these people who are going through terrible times. You become grateful for what you have. It worked for me. :)
I always try to give up time, which I have precious little of!
I try to spend some part of every day in prayer for other people, usually the patients that pass across my computer screen each day. I also try to do more service, as well.
GIve yourself time to mourn...sm

your baby.  I lost my baby Christmas Eve 2006. I was devastated.  Couldn't even dream of another until summer of 2007.  I still miss my baby tremendously.  He is buried in a small garden with other pets, of which I have not been able to visit even yet.  I still cry whenever he is mentioned.  But at any rate, after losing him, and months later adopting another, she is a real cutie.  I love her to death.  she is the same breed, but is a totally different baby.  Life is good, but I will always miss my baby.  Good luck to you.  It also helps me to keep a picture on my desk, so he is gone but not forgotten.

I do feel so lucky to have had him, as you are to have had your kitty.  I so feel your pain and will keep you in my prayers.

don't give it the time of day. Lots of us feel the way you do
they complain and moan and groan and say they have the answers but they don't.  Good tribute - brought tears to my eyes - thank goodness we have so many young mean who are real PATRIOTS!!
Do you give yourself a set time to look at incoming email

Call the cops every single time. Don't give into bullying.
You can bet he'll get tired of being visited by the cops every few days... And cops are required to follow up on complaints, so they'll go out there, and cops are adults with neighbors too, so they know what it's like. What is wrong with some of these parents now days?!
My little dog rides with me in the front
Most newer vehicles, including mine, have the ability to TURN OFF the air bag on the passenger side, which mine is unless there is a human rider. Also, we have a "Doggie car seat". A basket type seat which he rides in. There is a hook to secure him that attaches to his collar/harness. It allows him to sit high up where he can see out all the windows, plus he cannot climb on me to cause an accident. We need to treat our dogs like children and put them in a car seat. He loves it; he gets to see around and go anywhere momma goes. PS: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG IN THE CAR, EVEN WITH THE WINDOW DOWN, IN ANY KIND OF WEATHER. The interior of your car can heat to over 100 degrees even in 50 degree weather. My sister lost two of her babies when her husband left them in the car last spring.

I saw where they were in the Appalachian Mountains but
the Adirondacks, what section did they show there?
Same thing happens to me from time to time - sm
if I roll over too quickly. I have positional vertigo. There is not too much you can do about it except try not to move or get up too quickly from a supine position. I have never had an earache in my life either so that has nothing to do with it. I don't ever feel sick from it though, just more of a nuisance for me every now and then. If it keeps happening obviously get checked out, you may have a more severe case, though again there really not much you can do about it, all it is is some particles in your ear breaking loose and that causes the dizziness, etc.
Yes, same thing. Bad directions all the time and my

UMASS VS APPALACHIAN STATE sm

Anyone have any connection to these two teams.  My daughter is on the UMASS marching band and will be going to Tennessee for the championship game.

sorry, I meant to type Appalachian....sm

I was thinking this very same thing. Definitely not worth giving the time of day to. nm

Aww, poor thing. Glad you found it in time...sm
If it is still out there in the morning and you are not sure what to do, try giving a veterinarian a call and see if they have a wildlife rescue place you could call.  The vet I worked for years ago had a list of places to refer caring people like you.  Good luck.
I head that was a limited-time only thing. I never even got a chance to try it. nm

LMAO! Barbie rides a bottle rocket!
THAT is something I would love to see!
Good luck, been there dozens of times/many cab rides.
So where are they? lol

What about hiking the Adironack Trail...
a real through hike from beginning to end at age 56 and 59?  Two my girlfriends are going to attempt it at the end of March beginning in Georgia.  They're avid hikers, kayakers and spelunkers...adventurous souls.  I take short day hikes with them when time permits as they're conditioning for the long trek.  We all dress for weather and torrain, not fashionistas (ableit, we can glam up for social affairs)...hair long, short and midlength and we all sing and share different types of music and art....Some have traveled the world and I get to hear all the stories and get great postcards.  Have some fun while you're here on this planet.    Cat
My cocker spaniel rides in the back seat and gets in front when we stop (sm)
In her mind this usually relates to getting a small dish of ice cream from the Dairy B or a chance to get out and go visit friends, i.e. her "grandma" and her groomer.

I have always made her ride in the back because I am afraid she will start moving around and get near the foot pedals and cause a wreck.

Certainly will not let her ride in the front when the vehicle is moving after this.
Nausea is a horrible thing to experience! 3 weeks is a long time to feel this way....
Anesthesia can take a little while to wear off, each person is different in the way that it affects them initially and afterward, however 3 weeks is quite a long time to feel this way. The nausea could be caused by a series of things...general side effect of medication/allergic reaction, maybe even an underlying infection of some sort. I would not hesitate to contact the primary care physician, the surgeon, or any physician on call. It would be in the best interest of your mother to seek medical attention as quickly as possible. Also, consider any medications that she is taking for pain or even just her regular meds- sometimes this type of reaction can be caused by a combination of medications. Just a thought.
I hope that she gets feeling better really soon. Nausea is horrible, especially when you have it 9 months through an entire pregnancy! :)
Please keep us posted!
I walk a trail by my house with my dog a few times

Does he show the horses or trail ride?
We have horses.  There's ALWAYS something you need or want.  How about a gift certificate to his favorite tack store?  Or something special he wouldn't buy himself for riding?  There's a lot of catalogs that cater to horse owners that have some really cool gifts.  LOL, one of the gifts my 12 yo neice has on her Christmas list is a gift certificate to Tractor Supply, yeah I know, you might be a redneck if . . . .

the children food but if they did not have the food to eat, probably would call family and children services. I do NOT give away money to anyone.

Totally agree, get these from time to time since teens...sm
It's a neuro condition, it does not mean there is anything at all wrong with you, it is actually related to narcolepsy, hypnagogic (sp? I just got up!) hallucinations, etc. And I HATE when I get these, it is always freaky, my siblings get this too, at times. I can "go away" for years and years before you get another episodes, so don't worry! I heard that when you are under a lot of stress or are very busy with things that this happens more??? Take care!!
It's time to stop when you or the kid(s) feel it is time, and no sooner. sm
My grandmother (who passed away at the young age of 107 back in the mid 1990s) was STILL celebrating every little holiday for all of her many kids and grandkids, and she would STILL give me a chocolate bunny every Easter, as she had since I was a toddler and even though I was 40ish at the time (and I still delighted in biting its head off in front of her, as I had also done since I was a toddler, which always met with mock disapproval from her).

Don't let anyone dampen your joy in celebrating your traditions.
The very 1st time he talked about killing you, was the time
The guy sounds like a psycho.
Rachael Ray has a segment from time to time
on using the bottom of the bottle receipes (i.e. bar-be-q sauce, peanut butter, maple syrup) and I have used many of her ideas and been amazed at how far you can stretch a dollar that way. Go to her website, it will give you many ideas.
Oh Amy, surely there was a man who "kept" you from time to time..
or you were at least married and had access to money!
It was a great time - I just hate the time we are in now
I liked your post. Thanks for replying It's nice to know other people were raised like me. We seem to appreciate the things we have. Oh I should've also said we didn't have A/C growing up. My parents idea of A/C was having my sister and I wave a piece of cardboard in front of them. HA HA HA.

I just couldn't stand the 90s and 2000s are even worse. I hate all the politics going on today, the world events, the bleak future. The degenerates running around, listening to kids talk back to their parents, girls gone wild, etc, etc. I'm grateful my grandparents and mom are not alive anymore to have to go through this with us.

I love watching old movies and the music of the 40s/50s. If I was alive back then I would've been doing the jitterbug and all those other fun dances. Life seemed simpler and cleaner (even though I've got a mouth like a sailer - guess I got that from my Army days).

I wouldn't mind the turn of the century either. I love the clothing and the simple life. Those are the times when the husband took care of the wife. If I could be transported back to the 1800s I surely would in a second.
you should give it a try

what the post said about the wipes.  maybe something all natural might also do it that way the baby might not have a reaction to that and its good for the dog also.  do some research on the net if you can.  its worth it before you give your other "baby" up.  let us know what happens.  if worse comes to worse, make sure you interview prospects very well just like a baby for adoption.  hope the first one works for you :)

We would give a lot of it away, believe it or not. Then, of course, the sm
usual - pay bills, purchase gorgeous home, travel, etc.

We believed that those entrusted and blessed with much should give much. If you keep all that you have you become stagnant - like the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea has absolutely no outlet which is why everything dies that enters it. I don't think we are much different. Give in order to be happy.
Once they give me what I want, they
can do what they like but until then guess we will just have to continue to cut that massive yard. It takes us about 2 hours to get there and then spend time there just to cut. It is an all day thing.
I'm sure they have - they will give her something (or let her out) (sm)
If they let her spoiled brat behind out, I am going to be MAD.
Can't give him away--Nobody else would put up with him!
I have a big kitty (18 lbs) that acts just like that! Pulling on blinds, disturbing our sleep, doing anything and everything to get attention until he gets fed! We love him so much and know that we are the only ones in the world who would put up with him--so we can't give him away! I feed him 3 measured meals a day. Fortunately, I now live in a house with a basement, so I put him down in the basement at nightime with his 3rd meal. He cries and scratches on the door a little bit, but then he gets used to it and goes to sleep. Sometimes I have to put him down in the basement during the daytime too if he starts being too bad while I'm trying to work.

Do you have a bathroom you could put kitty in at night? Just make sure there's not too much in there for him to destroy. That would be more comfortable than a crate.
There was a give away
for me. An ad underneath said something about maze prank.

I'm going to give this a try...sm
