judgement

In Reply to: Are you judging her mother by what - TM

By what I was told by Nicki, Daniel and what I observed of both of them during and the dealings with her mother.

But I was present during some phone calls and such but have never personally met her mother.

You will have a judgement placed against you--sm
for the debt owed and it will be placed on your credit report. Seeing as how you are married, it will be against your husband too. He will find out now. It will remain on your credit report until it is paid in full, and then some. They are not to up on taking things off your credit report, only on putting them on. If you make regular payments, that will be on your credit report as well. If you don't make regular payments, they may place a tax judgement against you, meaning they will get whatever tax refund you have coming until the debt is paid. This will automatically flag on your credit report, as well, and if you ever need to open a checking account, etc., some banks will not allow you to with that on your credit report. They may also garnishee any wages. This debt will also continue to acrue interest. Because this has already gone to having a court date, working out a settlement is pretty much nil at this point. you should have done that prior to getting to this point. Most places are willing to work with you as long as you make the effort. Letting it go for four years will not bode well for you. I feel for you. I have been there, but not to the tune of your amount...mine was only 300.00 and by the time I got done paying the interest and late fees, it was much more than that. This is a really good example of why not to have credit cards. It is much too easy to get into this situation. I wish you all kinds of luck!!!
Well, my better judgement said

My better judgement says to pay down on the CCs.  My H wants to take 15k out of his 401k and be done with it.  He says we are still young and we can still make it up.  We are in our 30s.  I really really hate for him to do that because I see how my Dad, Mom and MIL struggle with just living on SS alone.  Also, it is a nice Band-Aid but if we don't rethink or spending it will be right back there and once that 401k is gone it is gone.

As far as this house goes, that is the one thing I am proud of is that it is almost paid off.  The only thing wrong with this house really is that it is 200 small.  890 sq feet and there are 4 of us living here.  2 littler girls and H and I.  It is 2 bedroom 1 bath and that 1 bath is getting harder and harder for us to deal with.  H and I looked into another house a few years ago and we were shocked that the owners wanted 130k for a house that stunk and was trashed, i.e., holes in the walls, unfinished projects, a huge mess everywhere.

We bought this house in 1999 for 29k.  It is a rock house.  It was newly remodeled, it has central heat and hair, it has a big fenced in backyard and a huge storage building H uses as a shop.  We do live in West Texas so I am thinking houses are cheaper here.  I have heard relatives say that up north in the bigger cities this house would be worth 100k or better.

judgement
sad you feel that way. The majority of pitbull attacks you hear are usually 9 times out of 10 mixed breeds anyway, but the public only hears "pitbulls" and honestly statistic wise the pitbull is half a million times more likely to be killed by a human than the other way around. Every pitbull attack it's always the dog's fault is what you hear & it's easy to blame the one who can't speak for themselves & say what really happened and say if they were provoked, so I don't pass judgement, I leave that up to God.
Not sure if I trust her judgement.....she
xx
DOH! I meant they would NOT pass judgement
...sorry. P.S. Just ignore those who are responding that you are selfish. They have not walked in your shoes!
He had pneumonia, let's not jump to judgement here,,

Yes! Let's start by stopping judgement of the 8 babies!
Some below are making me "sick" - they are innocent newborns stuck in a horrible situation, and their 6 older siblings are probably even worse off. The mother is inexcusable, but the babies and children? Come on, I have dogs but to compare them to animals? Talk about paying it forward - some people are paying it backwards! Open up your minds! These are innocent little human beings! Pay it forward and stop judging them, they have enough on their little shoulders. I'm so angry right now at some of these posts! I pay it forward every chance I get and I will for the rest of my life. Letting these babies into my heart is one of these things I am doing today. The mother is another story, she needs other "kinds" of help. Poor kids, poor babies!
Coming from a Steelers fan, that was bad judgement by James Harrison
no need for that...probably won't get fined though because he didn't hurt the guy...
