I used to do plainclothes security work for a major upscale dept store - sm
Summer was my best time to arrest the teenage girls.  They did not seem to take it seriously until the police showed up to take them downtown.  I did have a few concerned mothers come by the store to speak with me.  Just a lot of temptation out there...I would say to be very suspicious of clothing and such that seems to appear without having the money to pay for it.
I used to do store security for a major department store - try this -
Go to the store and ask to speak with someone from the security department. Tell them what you have stated here. Hope they are able to help you!
I use Sentinel - flea control and heartworm prevention all in one (sm)
Less for me to remember.
Lice prevention -- distilled white vinegar (sm)
After shampooing, rinse hair with 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water, protecting eyes.

My mom used this prevention faithfully on all of us and none of us ever had lice infestation, just shiny hair.

K9 officer
All this negative talk about pitbulls. I bet if one saved your as* you wouldn't be thinking negatively about them. If these dogs were mean like you say, then why are they used for police dogs? Hmmmmm think about it!
Gift Ideas for a new police officer? sm

My nephew is graduating from the Police Acad. in a couple of weeks.  Does anyone have any ideas what would be a good gift?  I hate giving money. I did look on line and got some ideas but I thought I would ask to see if anyone has had experience with this.  TIA

Talk to DFS, Juvenille Officer involved in the case (sm)
and if the children are appointed a CASA or Guardian Ad Litem, also make yourself known to them. When these children are taken in as wards of the court suitable family placement is always looked at. From experience I will tell you there are many, many wonderful foster-adoptive families out there just waiting for these babies.

By the way, if you are awarded custody of this child and the child does have special needs, the state will steer you towards getting assistance in getting what help you need.

It would be lovely if all the children could be kept together and sometimes this is possible. You will find out much more after the initial hearing I suppose.

Good luck to you and the children. Bless their little hearts, they only know mommy is mommy and have no idea of what a good mommy should be. I have seen children who have been physically and verbally abused and neglected by parent who still love and want to be with them. They don't know anything different.

Once again, good luck.
He was police officer...kinda makes ya think...verdict in..sm

He got life with the first chance at parole 57 years from now (he'll be 87yo by then), all counts running consecutively (one on top of another) as opposed to concurrently (roll them all together which woulda been 30 years).  If he conducts himself well, he may be allowed parole in 52 years.

A lotta people in authority positions think they can do what the want and get away with it.

He's not gonna like it in a federal penitentiary with folks that he put in there when he was one of the "boys in blue"....  all of them have moms, aunts, sisters, baby daughters....It ain't gonna be pretty.

Dept of Wage and Labor?

? about Wy Dept. of Corrections Job Stability ? sm

Does anyone know about job stability at the prison there?  My husband works there.  We are separated, with a divorce likely very soon.

While trying to sift through his words versus true objectivity during this homework project, I want/need as much info as possible. I believe they are union, but not sure.  He told me not long ago that he was getting paid $10 an hour, which I don't believe (he already draws pension from a previous police job).

He worked for the Marshal's Service/PD in either Rawlins or Hanna (I think it's Hanna), and was let go in 2008, reportedly due to budget cuts. I did believe that.

Any info would be appreciated, even a crystal ball!

Thanks!

I still think you should contact your police dept...

AMEN sister!! and do you know in the health dept there are signs all over saying sm
you don't have to be a citizen to apply for benefits? so we as taxpayers pay to support them to be here illegally, we feed them, we shelter them, we pay their bills, we have to pay extra because the company had to pay an employee extra who could speak their language, yet they are dropping the pay in fields like roofing, construction where they pool together and do this type of work for a little of nothing so the american legal person can't make a living off of it anymore.
Well, have to get the word out. How many of you are familiar with Belk Dept. Stores? sm

Well, they bought out our local Parisian Dept. store, promised to come in to our town, buy the building (in our local mall), and then backed out at the last minute. We live in a town of over 300,000.  Anyways, so there is no longer any store there in the mall. They are just like Macy's. etc.

They have THE POOREST CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER (via phone) I've ever encountered. They don't even bill on a 30-day billing cycle, so my payment was due TODAY when I always thought it was the 6th of every month (I last made a payment Oct. 6 and thought I'd pay my bill a few days early) only to find out that the bill would be considered late if not paid by 5 p.m. EST. If I paid it on line like I always do, you MUST make the payment date at least 2 days later than today's date (makes no sense) so next month I would be LATE and charged 35.00. So I call to make a payment. This rude lady tells me: Go into a store and make a payment.  I tell her, "well, we don't have a store within 200+ miles of my home since you guys never did come here,"  Then she says, "Well, you can pay by phone today by 5 but it will cost you an extra 15.00." So, I'm livid. She gets her supe on the phone who is rude as h*** and tells me that she wasn't the one who decided to pay late! OMG!

So, I call husband very upset. To make a long story short, I finally paid it after 3 LONG PHONE CALLS to these fools (all 3 of them were extremely rude).  One guy put me on hold for 15 minutes (I counted!!) after I asked to speak to his supervisor and he gets back on the phone (minus his supervisor) after being put on hold and then I finally pay part of my bill.

Thank GOD Belk isn't around here.    Sounds like a godsend.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you work hard, don't shop there! They SUCK** and I will NEVER shop there!!

Make a fuss to school board, principal, teachers, dept. of child welfare (sm)
whoever you need to. I understand these are difficult to get rid of but obviously the mom of that little girl is not getting rid of them, maybe she treats the child but if you don't clean up the environment reinfestation is a sure thing.

We got a letter from the school yesterday stating there is a lice outbreak in the school. Then we had a program last night in which all the 3rd graders put on these little capes (that came out of a community bag where they had used them before at practice and then bagged them back up) They of course went over their heads and rested on their shoulders. I wasn't the only person that sucked in air when they saw this last night.

I am sure that poor child is and will be embarrassed about this and probably other things in the future if her health/hygiene issues are not being taken care of properly.

One major suggestion
I would not be consulting juvenile authorities for a 6-year-old's behavior issues.

At this age, she needs to be seen by a child psychologist or psychiatrist who can diagnose the issue and outline a treatment plan.

This is not an unusual problem. She is a child and a conscious is something that is instilled by caretakers...it is not an automatic self development.

Please seek care for her behaviorally - not in the courts at this age.
This major lawsuit had to do with--sm
the insurance company (SF) stating that they would cover and *wind damage* done by hurricane Katrina, but not flooding, as they had no flooding insurance on their policies, but the lawsuit contended that the flooding was still due to hurricane Katrina and should be covered. they won that case, but there is still some hassle over it because a judge did not like the way the wording read concerning some people who filed claims, but did not sue the insurance company. In my opinion, these insurance companies take peoples monies for years and do who knows what with it, and then when something major happens and people need help, they find all kinds of loopholes to not do anything. That is what insurance policies are FOR! but as far as bleach on a rug...no, if I were the insurance company involved in that, I would not pay either. jmo.
Definitely make major changes...
First, I would quit transcribing.

I would establish a foundation to pay for surgery for children and adults with maxillofacial deformities.

My second foundation would help older women - over age 40 - who want to go back to school or want to get some training for a different career.

My third foundation would help working class families send their kids to college.

I would buy a nice house (not a mansion) on a very large piece of land, where I could not hear my neighbors' noise. That house would have a huge library filled with my own books and another room would be a fitness center with a treadmill and some strength training machines. Oh, and I would like to buy a Schwinn bicycle.

When we had a major ice storm last
February, schools were let out early (10 a.m.) and the info was posted on a crawl at the bottom of the TV and on the radio. No parents were called.
It depends what your major was, just like anything

I would have had a different college major - sm
and been smart about saving money then and not getting into debt....and not picking the loser guys I dated until I met my husband at age 29. ---though had things been different I'd probably be married to someone else and have two totally different kids which are the 2 things I would not want to change--
Look at his name-"Science Major".

I never work on major holidays...
because I work for a small company that closes for all major holidays. I've been with them for almost 2 years now and they are definitely one of the best! They even send me a Christmas gift every year! I would never sign up to work for a company that was open on holidays, as I have no desire to work on holidays.
just had a major lawsuit ruling
but these are mainly people down in the coastal areas whose homes were completely leveled or not habitable. Insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves...some of these folks have been paying the same company for 40 to 50 years and when they need them, they get screwed. I hope the homeowners actually get the monies so they can get what should have been theirs in the first place.

We lived further inland, so the winds were strong enough to blow off a roof, or blow rain under a roof, or turn trees over on houses and crush them, but not level a home....but every time a wind comes up or it rains heavy, everyone holds their breath because trees now have weak roots and are easily toppled over, even 2 years later.
Thanks - that is a major factor in my decision (sm)
My children. I feel like I am choosing between my happiness and theirs and of course they should win. They are happy now, but if they had to have visitation with their dad - who is definitely a control freak - I worry about their happiness. But is it better for them to visit him than to live with him. And wouldn't I be showing them that you don't have to live like that by leaving??? it's so hard!
My daughter was about to have major surgery

2 years ago and the surgeon always made me feel like we were keeping him from something more important.  After waiting in the waiting for at least an hour at every appointment, it was discouraging to have him rush in and out in 10 minutes, considering the procedure she was going to have.  Anyway, at our last appointment before the surgery, we had a PA who actually spent time with us, explaining the surgery in detail and answering all our questions.  I was thrilled.

I have also had my share of not great PAs, but this guy wasn't one of them.

Well, if I get a major inheritance, I'll be there

Got to vent. I just found out that a major supermarket
chain where my husband works will be open on Christmas Day. I think it is absolutely disgusting that they would take this major holiday away from their employees. There is absolutely nothing in a grocery store that is so important that it has to be bought on Christmas Day. For pete's sake, if you don't get it before Christmas Day, you don't need it very badly.
I just went through some major stuff that i think may have been related to fibro. sm
I took every narotic you can think of. lortab helped me the best without knocking me out. FYI, it did cause nausea so then i backed down to half a tablet. everything else put me to sleep. i did take BC Powder two of them and that helped some, but gave me an ulcer too so guess you gotta decide what is worse. for me, not being able to work was worse so i needed relief. i also used a heating pad and rice sock when i had to stay away. nothing took the pain totally away though. finally got a medrol dosepak and it cleared up for the severe part anyway. at least i can function now. email me........

I'm in complete agreement. If major problem, everyone

My son is a PreMed major and loves this show also....sm
He is hoping to get in Medical School there at Hopkins. Great reality show for the HealthCare Professional.
I was an animal science major in college and...
my poultry professor said that fresher eggs are harder to peel. The problem is that you can't tell from the store which the older eggs are because when they expire, they just repackage them with newer dates and send them back out because they only go bad if there is a defect in the shell.

I worked for a hospital where the major baseball team
here in town used. I had access to all patient information including the telephone numbers and addresses. My daughter, at that time teenager, begged me for the address of a certain big time player who went on to marry Hallie B but no, no- was not gonna put my job on the line. I knew DD could easily turn into your stalker girl!

Bringing Lost discussion up to top of board (major spoiler alert)

Okay, all you "Lost" fanatics, what are your theories now, and how have they changed? Who or what is Jacob? How did the "original inhabitants" of the island get there? They are mostly Caucasians with American accents, with a few exceptions. They don't look like the usual types of people who are native inhabitants of Polynesian islands - if, indeed, that is where the island is.

Why were Jack and Juliet keeping secrets from the rest of the group? If they had been honest and up front from the beginning about Juliet, maybe they could have all figured out a way to foil Ben's plans without bloodshed.

And will the island heal Locke? Obviously he is of major importance - I don't think Ben heard Jacob at all, and he was jealous and afraid when he realized Locke heard him. That's why he shot him. Ben is turning out to be an even bigger weasel than before.

And what exactly was the Dharma Initiative studying? Does Ben really know? After all, he was only a "work man" like his father.

For every answer, there are a dozen new questions - at least!

OMG, are you sure that's not the same store?
Or do all young male cashiers just have a breast fixation? Boy oh boy.
You don't have to go the store.
You don't die from not being able to go into a store.  You may die from secondhand smoke (living with a smoker), but I doubt from simply walking through a door and inhaling a few seconds of secondhand smoke.  Most people will eat themselves to death before they die of secondhand smoke.  Funny how the older generation smoked, ate lard, and never took vitamins, and most lived to be in their 100's.  I have an aunt that died of cancer, never drank, never smoked, never ever did anything but serve her husband and she died.  My grandfather rolled his own cigarettes and lived to be 91 after a career as a coal miner...  go figure...  cigarette smoking I'm sure causes cancer, but so does a lot of other things like auto fumes (pollution), asbestos, and the like.  They are building new homes minutes from toxic waste dumps.  If you get cancer it won't be from walking through a doorway of a store where someone is smoking, it will more than likely be from the other things listed above.
Don't go to the store...sm
you must be a smoker who thinks they are the only ones being deprived of their rights. We all need to go to the store. What a ridiculous statement to make. People who smoke are addicted to their addictions and don't have the courage to break the habit. True, cigarette smoke is not the only thing that causes cancer, but if I choose to not have it affect my life and my pleasure of living my life, you don't have the right to inflict it upon me, just because you choose to stay addicted to your addiction and don't like being told you need to go to certain areas in order to feed that addiction. If you need to smoke that badly, don't go to the store and smoke. Don't go to the store at all, just like you told me I don't have to. Stay in your car and inflict it upon yourself or stay home.
I wonder what that guy in the store would have said
If your neice turned around and said "Really?  I find men with bad breath much more offensive."  Might think twice before he opened his mouth.  That's a face I'd like to see!!
I wonder if you have to store them
with the plastic cover on when you're not wearing them to protect the sticky layer from dust?

I'm thinking it would feel like walking on a sticky floor in a grocery store?
I had my own store. Got a following almost became
But the fees added up so much that is listing fees, final value fees, that I made about 33% after paypal took their fees too. Then, I shipped all over the world too so I'd be sure to make sure the shipping costs were right or I would get burned there.
Then, there became the people who would want their money back even if the listing said only store credit.
Customer is always right.
So, by the time you count the money I spent on the item to begin with (usually something I thought I would naturally make money on), the fees, the time spent taking pictures, the digital battery, etc. I had a gigantic loss this year. Plus, if you buy on e bay, you should watch your selling, because you just might spend all your profit, which comes out to about 5 to 10 bucks an hour.
I loved doing it, don't get me wrong. I met people from all over the world. I sold a dress to the Prime Minister of a University in England, and other interesting people. I still have friends on there who are sellers too. But, I had to close down shop because the fees just got to be too much for me. I would rather sit and type and have free time doing artistic things and having hobbies.
Some of my friends who have a following on e bay and have been selling for years range in the 25K a year range, and they have a business license, and charge state tax. Don't forget as well, you have to pay income tax just like any other IC job. Just was not worth it to me. Good luck to you.
is there a store you will not shop

I know for some here they've said it's Walmart.

There's a chain of stores here in NJ, not sure if they're anywhere else though. It's calles SixthAvenue Electronics. We had a bad experience with them many years ago (they sold us a reconditioned piece of electronics without telling us it wasn't new) and to this day I won't even look at their flyers. I just throw them away.

Where won't you shop?

Another grocery store one (sm)
The ones who act like it's a total surprise that they actually have to take out their wallet and pay after they're given a total - worse yet, paying in cash, and have to dig around in their purse for the appropriate change. G-r-r-r
Grocery store......
My daughter worked at a grocery store as cashier in high school..she would come home disgusted at how some of these ladies would come through her aisle and pull their money out between their breasts...she hated touching that money. During the summer, she said it was even worse...they were sweaty and nasty and she had to take the money and recount it. She couldn't wash her hands enough!!
Lacie - how to store it.....s/m

You are right, one bottle lasts a few washings.  If you look very carefully, there is a little bit of whitish powder at the bottom tip of the product.  That has to be mixed well before you snap off the top of the vial.  What I do, is outside my shower is a basket full of soaps and stuff and I stand it up there in between the stuff until the next head wash.  Then, I put my finger over the open tip upon the 2nd and/or 3rd usage of vial....and shake that powder up that way as it does *settle* in between usage.

Also, the product comes in 3-in-1 packages and/or 1 much bigger vial that would probably last 7 washings.  *grins* You probably saw all that at Sally's tonight.

Love people who don't procrastinate, and you sure don't!!!

the checks should be right there in the store - sm
I would think. Or whichever store they run their office from. They should have been able to write one out for you then and there. I would not have left without it, they know you want the money and are going to jerk you around until you give up. I would think that you had a court judgement or order by now and they have to do it or be arrested, etc, could not the deputy arrest the store mananger for something, obstructing the order? Failing to comply, whatever. As for the bank, it would probably be one of the top 3 banks in the area, though I don't know if the bank would tell you if they had an account there. You can always make some calls and try to find out. If they won't give you the money, take your $700 worth of furniture, and obviously try to pick something you want to actually keep, otherwise you will probably only get half of what the retail is if you are lucky and you are still out a chunk of change.
There is a bar w/ a drive thru store
across the street from our apartment complex. One morning around 10/11am I saw a school bus go through there. I'm sure he/she was just picking something up for later but it just looked bad!
Thanks everyone! Running to the store to buy
stuff now. By the way, she's 8. Sorry, I forgot to say that before. Thanks again!!
