I love flowers and he surprised me tonight (since he is working tomorrow) with a beautiful plantar full of different plants and flowers I can keep inside and transplant outside this spring.  Would like to surprise him as well but stumped as to what to get?  What do you get a man who has everything?

Need gift ideas.....

I need some help figuring out a neat gift idea for our veterinary staff.  You guys always have some GREAT ideas !!!

We have had some significant problems with both our "mom" and the 8 puppies we have left, having lost 3.  The staff at our vet hospital has just been absolutely wonderful.  This is a new vet hospital for us.  Our old vet and staff were... well... let's just say less than caring or concerned about our animals.

We'd like a way to say thanks in a different and unique way, other than the traditional fruit/snack basket, and this is just not my strong suit.  We feel that plenty of people will complain about bad service, but sometimes we forget to reward the great service or the extra effort, and this vet hospital has done that and more.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.  TIA....

Sees candy is wonderful---sees.com.  Available in California for sure, maybe Nevada or Arizona but very good.  Also, what about getting some of the coffee to go from Starbucks or a place like that delivered once a month?  OR just bring in a tray of treats and some coffee brewed from your favorite coffee place such as Starbucks or the many others out there.

Airport greeting gift for hubby returning from the Middle East?
He has been gone for a year, working as a contractor.  What type of gift might a man like at our airport greeting (besides me)?  He is getting back in the evening, so I have really nice breakfast planned for the next day, but am wondering if he might like something special at the airport?  Do you get men flowers, balloons, what?  We have been married 23 years, but I am finding myself really nervous about this!  You all have the best ideas, so please pass them on!
Darling hubby, dumb hubby, dufus hubby. Take your pick. I have been known to use all three--
nm
All of these ideas are good.

We lost a newborn.  I know it is 100 times worse for an older child, but I appreciated all the things people did for me.  Our neighbor came over that morning without being asked, while I was still in the hospital, and mowed our lawn before people started coming by. Other friends brought some meals.  I most appreciated visits from friends.  I was still on maternity leave with no baby to take care of.

good ideas

I've looked into other things I could do as a sidestep from transcription, like editor, or biller, there are tons of ads for billers and coders.  I'd need more schooling.  As far as support from family, thats great that yours admire you.  Mine is just really judgemental and have always thought I never lived up to my potential.  I've always been content though.  Being an MT allows me my independence which is the most important thing to me.

Thanks all - some good ideas here. (sm)
Lately, my acct has added on a lot of progress notes, and if I don't get some more stuff in my expander, I'll never make any money!  Thanks a lot.
Good ideas. Thanks. nm

Good ideas here

I have a special "C&P" resume. I use Courier font because it will appear the same in email as it does in Word. I keep everything flush left. Where I might ordinarily use a bullet, I use a dash:

Transcribed reports for the following specialties:
- Cardiology
- Gastroenterology
- Oncology

Good ideas if you want to keep them.
I agree, sometimes you have to go along to get along, I made a lot of money with tapes as well. If you lneed the money, THINK hard, you may be sorry if you really depend on that income."Talk over her head" and make her think she's getting a "real deal" if you use the very expenesive labels and eat the cost for now until you can't stand it anymore. Think of your own monetary position and your needs. They love to think they're getting a "bargain" just blow smoke until you don't have to anymore.
good ideas
There are fantastic ideas here http://www.productivitytalk.com/forums/index.php

Good luck!
Good ideas !
Thanks for the info. I like the sound of the insurance company ones. Do they send you work via internet? Do you use a footpedal just like medical transcription? Just wondering.
Gift certificates for massages are always good. sm
I like to give gift certificates for something someone would not buy for themselves.  A lot of people won't spend money on a nice massage for themselves but it is something they can really use.  Spa gift certificates are nice, too.  It lets a person use that gift strictly for themselves, they don't have to share, and most likely would not spend the money themselves.  Just a thought, don't know how much you are prepared to spend.

Good ideas - but most want to be at home! sm
I work more being at home, albeit not in 8 straight hours, but I get more work done at home with more lph working in 2-hour shifts throughout the day. Working in the office would not cut it for me. I have been working at home for 16 years now, no way will I go back to an office. So, if you are looking for the seasoned MTs to work in the office with the newbies - good luck with that!

I think you have great ideas and it will work, you just might have to modify a few things along the way.

Best of luck to you!
Good ideas, maybe I will look into getting an external - sm
backup hard drive as well that would certainly take care of losing any data, and seeing it every day would remind me to backup my important files! I bet there will be a run of people today backing up their work! I do keep written notes on my work, though not the line counts. I only lost about 15 files, about 2000 lines (it's a small account), just hope they have it all handy, they tend to lose/misplace files. Hate to have to retype them so I can bill them (of course I happened to delete all the sound files off the server I use yesterday for last weeks work, so I would have to have them resend all the sound files as well), but I will do what I have to do in order to do so!
what's up for dinner tonight? Any good ideas?

Would  love to go away for a small vacation with the kids but they dont want to leave their furry friends behind...and neither do I.  I am looking for someplace that will take two dogs and is also kid friendly. Any good ideas for rose bushes? sm

I'm thinking of planting rose bushes along our new fence and just can't decide from all the varieties.  I do want some that bloom all summer long and are winter hardy. Illinois can be brutal sometimes.

Valentines day??

Did everyone have a good Valentines Day???

My husband forgot....again.... but other than that mine was good.

Happy Valentines Day to you, too!!
Thanks for the greeting.
Happy Valentines Day from everyone at MTStars!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Gift of gab is a gift in deed. Not having it has cost me dearly.
I became an MT because of my interest in medical field, fascination with the work and yes, a lack of social skills. I really did think that my work would speak for me.
This same memory doctor wished me Happy Valentines day

Any good ideas where to look. Job Bank and Resume bank not working.
I think they must be waiting for a tech for repairs.
Your hubby must my hubby's twin. sm
He can't find anything or put anything away either. He did learn a long, long time ago to empty his pockets, though. I have a nice big doghouse where he spends with his dog with things get too hot. Or, he can sleep in his corvette, but it gets a little cramped in there!
It is not hubby, is her father, but not hubby. nm

My hubby is..
In the Army.  He makes more money and carries the benefits...medical and dental.  This is actual the ideal job for me as we move a lot.  I stay home and watch the kids too, so I am not making a lot of money at this.
Hubby is away, I'm going with you lol nm

Not me, but my hubby did (sm)
My husband dreamed of his first wife's death the day she died.  She was only 43 and not apparently ill.
hubby
we are blessed.
hubby
you have to find a husband who is willing to help with the chores or at least help you out at times.  My husband helps me out on the weekends and the weeknights we take turns with the kids and dinner (and he works 10 hours a day)  hope you can find a happy medium.
My Hubby
He sounds like yours. Mine also works 12 hours a day, and he out with all aspects of the housework, including laundry as well as the outside work. He knew it was important for me to be hope since I couldn't be with our first daughter.
Hubby has this....
Every company is different...but the profit sharing is usually paid out either as a bonus once or twice a year. You will have to read the specifics on your plan. At the last company he was with it was pretty much profit sharing in title only until he became a vested employee. 401K is completely different.
My hubby just got me a new one
from Tiger Direct for only around $300-something. It is a pain though to move things.

Otherwise I'd have to call in a computer geek type to try to fix it. I have no talent or patience for computer problems.

I hope it gets fixed quickly.
Your Hubby Gets Around
They have 3 cables cut now in totally different areas. What a coincidence!
my hubby
Well, my hubby was on a total of 32 prescriptions meds before he passed away, and I thought that was a lot!  But, over 50, that is just sad.
My hubby gets it right now. Here's how they...

This is just a small excerpt from the website.  It was easier for me to copy and paste then to try to explain it!! lol.  It varies from state to state.  Go to Google and type  'unemployment benefits yourstate".  It's the UIA-Unemployment Insurance Agency.  It will tell you everything you need to know like when to file, how they determine eligibility, etc.  Or type www.yourstate.gov.  I Hope you never have to use it.  It took maybe 4 weeks or more before my husband got his first check.

Amount of unemployment benefits

UIA staff calculates how much you receive in unemployment benefits by multiplying the highest amount of wagespaid to you in any base period quarter by 4.1%. The UIA adds $6 for each dependent you claim, up to five dependents. The weekly benefit amount is capped at $362.

To determine how many weeks of benefits you may receive, the UIA multiplies your total base period wages by 43%, and then divides that answer by your weekly benefit amount. The claim, however, cannot be less than 14 weeks or more than 26 weeks.

No hubby!

Not in the service but hubby is...sm
Im sorry that your husband is in such a mess but there are other ways of handling it. My husband is just finishing up a 20-year career and I know very well the things that go on. Your husband should have used his chain of command...that is what it is there for. My guess is he will get a court martial, probably go to the brig for a while, and get a dishonorable discharge.
hubby who went ua from marines

I was wondering the same thing?  I'm sorry for your situation, but it seems it was brought about by the choices that your husband made himself.  We all are not perfect and obviously he regrets the mistake in comitting to the service that he made & it will be a hard lesson learned.

But, for the life of me, I'm not sure why you are posting on theis board/ I thought the OP was from your Mom? about her son-in-law, then you, his wife replied to someone's negative comment? As a poster mentioned above, if your an MT, then it's reasonable for you to post here, but I think you would probably find more needed information from some type of military board, or Maybe Google it.

My daughter, like many of the "kids" who are in Iraq now, signed up for the reserves to serve their country but also to get help with their higher education..many never dreaming they'd be called to war.  We had just returned from shopping, finally finding *the* bridal gown, walked through the front door to find my husband and the rest of our kids, along with her fiance (who is in the same unit) practically in tears. Yep, they both got their orders and they both were in the first invasion.

Their unit was military police but their initial jobs were to supply mortuary service! Not anything that either of them nor anyone else in their unit, mostly kids fresh out of high school, could have ever dreamed a year prior that they'd be doing.

I thank God they all returned home safe & sound and were able to have a beautiful wedding before my sil got called back.  He's still over there, my dd is home and just finished serving as an honor guard for 5 different funerals within one week for kids that did not make it back alive and well.  No matter anyones opinion about the war, when you sign into the military, you have to serve.  Like many have posted earlier, there are thousands serving who are in the same shoes as your husband, with a spouse and kids they want to be with.  But rules are rules, if you break them, then you will suffer the consequences.

I do not think it is fair for you to come to this board asking for help, then when peopl post a reply honestly, you get down on them.  Yes, I know this is an emotional time for you, but it's also an extremely emotional time for those who know or have lost loved ones, or like myself, living in a town who have lost so many so fast and the funerals are tying up traffic more than construction is.  They have been beautiful with the roads lined by thousands of strangers who just feel for the families of these kids.  So be thankful, your husband IS home and will be able to come BACK home, after he pays the price for his decision, which is only fair.  He stillhas choices, many of the kids do not.

Sorry, just struck my last nerve.

It's going around. I have it, too. So does hubby and daughter.
