This chair was an investment in my back and comfortable, well worth the $$. Link to Ultimate Back Store below; this is where I purchased the chair from.

Hayseed - What's the latest on the Mira and Aeron chairs? Did you get to try out the Aeron chair

The butterfly type back support?  Can't remember the exact name for it.  Do you think the chairs are worth the money?   Thanks.

Aeron chair
I went online and found the closest Herman Miller distributor (which happened to be Las Vegas for me) and drove there and picked it up.  I have had a few people tell me they have seen them at Costco, but I am not sure if they are authorized distributors and if buying from them voids the warranty.  Because it is such a big investment, my recommendation would be to buy from your closest authorized dealer (per the web site.)  The shipping is what it is - but the main thing is to get your chair from a reputable dealer. -Dana
Aeron chair
I have one too and they are so worth it! My back used to kill me sitting for 10-12 hours a day. Now I never have that problem. I know they are expensive but if you can at all swing one, buy it! Think of it as an investment in your health.
Aeron chair
I'm not Romey, but I do own an Aeron chair, and it is just as comfortable after 6 hours as when one first sits down.  The chair is pricey, though - I bought mine several years ago for $600.  Best money I ever spent for equipment, though.  Hope this helps.
Aeron Chair
Do you dislike your Aeron chair? I have thought about buying one.

Anyone have an Aeron chair/ Worth the ?? NM
NM
I LOVE my Aeron chair!!!!
I've had mine for a little over a year and I really love it. It's SO comfortable and really helped my back pain. I think I paid a little over $900 for mine but it was worth every penny. I'm quite overweight and I really liked the fact that I could order it in the wider size and it fits my butt a lot better than most other chairs.
Herman Miller Aeron Chair
It is the best chair money can buy. I have had mine now for 3 years and have never experienced any kind of back pain. In fact, in the last 2 in-house positons I have had, I have taken my Aeron chair with me - and everyone is envious! It is a lot of money up front, but money well spent.
RE Herman Miller Aeron Chair below..
I looked up the Herman Miller Aeron chair on the internet to see what all the fuss was about after reading these posts. I noticed the chair looks a lot like the one I got from Office Max. I'm not sure what the name of mine is, but it is a VERY comfortable, fully adjustable chair. I've not seen anything like it. I paid $79 as it was on sale from about $139. I noticed that this Herman Miller is much, much more expensive.  Just thought some of you might like to check out Office Max's line. I love mine!
Nothing better than a Herman Miller Aeron Chair!!! nm

Aeron chair by Herman Miller
Although it is pricey, I highly recommend the Aeron chair. I bought one a few years back when I was having back trouble and carpal tunnel issues from sitting and working 12-16 hours most every day. This chair really made a difference! It comes in different sizes for different people and will adjust practically any way you want it.

Prices will vary so do a web search for Aeron chair and look for the best price.
Aeron chair - never would use any other. About eight years ago my hospital

bought all of the transcriptionists Herman Miller chairs and we always say we are taking them when we leave.  Yea right, BUT, I would buy one even if I had to pay for it over time. It is so worth it considering we sit all day.   It is made of some kind of a nylon mesh that gives to your body weight and is always comfortable.  There is tons on line about it.  I love my chair, I love my chair, I love my chair.

Attention: Romey - Question about Aeron chair (sm)

You had answered my previous post concerning the Aeron chair and I am really convinced that I want one.  But how comfortable is the seat after several hours?  I am sick of foam that packs down.  I bought a molded gel cushion that looks like a honeycomb, but even this gets "hard" after a while.  Would appreciate your comments.

That sure beats the $900+ I spent on my Aeron Miller chair ! - nm

Does anyone use a Herman Miller Aeron chair for work and if so, do you like/love it? nm
nm
If one cannot afford the Herman Miller Aeron chair (wish), can someone recommend a less..sm
expensive chair that has most of the features?  I am primarily interested in neck/back support with the ability to adjust as needed.  I live in a fairly remote area and the only office equipment stores I have access to are Office Depot and Office Max.  I have one from Office Max but it was a cheap one and doesn't offer much.  I need to invest in a good one, but don't have the $900 for the Herman Miller.  So, if anyone has any suggestions, I would love your advice.  TIA!
After years of sitting in "cheap" chairs, I bought an Aeron chair and it was worth it!!

Bare Minerals IS available at ULTA online,Sephora online...(sm)

...and you don't have to sign up for a makeup "club," or anything. I totally agree with you that this makeup is great for all the basic purposes (coverage, lasting), but their slogan is "Makeup so healthy you can sleep in it." There is a delay in time between when you can apply your powder after moisturizer, but it is really worth it.

To go with your powder I recommend the "pump brush" offered at some of the cosmetic online stores. You fill the handle with your powder mixture (I mix two different powders, changing it up or down according to how much sun I've been getting) and the pump brush will distribute some to the bristles, tap and have at it! This is great for carrying it with you to minimize the loss into the lining of your handbag!

I cannot recommend Bare Minerals enough. I used to be a MAC convert, and have tried everything from Chanel to Maybelline--this product does not disappoint.

Question about Aeron, Please (sm)

What is the chair and back actually made of?  I have heard is it reinforced with a type of steel mesh which is what makes it conform to the user yet keeps it from sagging over time.

I live in a very rural area and a dealer would probably be at least 200 miles from me, would you buy one sight unseen?  I am so sick of foam chairs that pack down and get so hard.  I constantly have "sitting bone" numbness or worse, spasms.

Thanks for any info.

Wow, Aeron is $$$$. I googled, and I think that one is way out of my budget.
It looks like a great chair, tho.
Aeron. Expensive but well worth the $$. nm

Aeron, Mira, Celle Chairs - Anyone Have One? (sm)
Does anyone use an Aeron, Celle, or Mira chair by Herman Miller and are they worth the price?  Many thanks for any info.

As a side note, for the tailbone pain, I bought a coccyx cushion and I don't have the pain whatsoever anymore. It's wonderful.
1000

Seem I do not have a minimum line count, I tend to drag my lines on all day.  I have kids who I drop off and pick up at school, as well as volunteer at their school 1 or 2 mornings a week.  Most mornings, if I start as soon as I drop them off, around 815 am, and work until I leave to pick them up at 2pm, and I only stop to use the restroom, I can get in 800-900.  I usually will do another 100 before dinner while the kids are in the 'Disney Zone'  Im not sure if I could handle having the pressure of a minimum count as well as a set schedule.

About $1000.

I did over 1000 in 3 hours, and do so
routinely. Lots of ESL docs, but the key is an expander and doing the same account for more than a year. You need to lay the groundwork, like making sure you have doctors lists, know the formats and account specifics, and have readily available list of resources or reference books to use. At first take the time to write down all the unusual words or terms, instruments, etc., and then it will all fall into place.

Don't just rely on a single word in an expander. Make phrases, sentences, paragraphs, whatever is necessary. My rule of thumb- if I typed the same thing in full 3 times, that was 3 times too many, time to make a shortcut.
Is 1000 lines a day 1000 lines a day for most

companies.

Where I work you have to have 1000 lines a day which is not a problem. But say you get 1000 lines a day, work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week that makes 5000 lines per week. This place has a formula where they take the 5000 divide it by 40, because you work 40 hours and that would give you 125 per hour. Then they multiply that by 7.5 because this is supposedly the number of hours we work a day because supposedly we take two 15 minute breaks and whether we do our not. They would say we only get 937.5 per day. Is this pretty much what all places do our just where I work?

1000 lines

CAn you elaborate on what you mean by "open a few things" in Word for lines, etc..  I'm not real great at computers-over and above what is called for to do my job.

Thanks!

1000 in 3 hours
Takes me 3 hours to do 1000 lines in the current company and account - would love to hear what company the 3218 lines are made in - I love to type and love working at home but I think Medquist is somehow jipping me in my lines but I can't prove it.
No -- I have a list of over 1000 new ones

I was looking at the Vostro 1000 (sm)

not a bad price, was told by Dell 30-day money back guarantee and they'll pay to have it shipped back if not completely satisfied.  Sounds like an unbelievable deal.

No way $1000/mo. I am a family of 4 and
ours is way less than that.
most MTs I know do about 1000-1200 lpd

Me too! I always try to go for 1000 grains
and it has now become a competition with DH. I usually win Hee Hee!
1000 lines??
Can someone please give me an idea of approximately how long it takes to type 1000 lines a day? I know it can vary depending on dictators, platforms, typing speed, etc., but I've never kept track of how many lines I do and would like an idea of how long this would take. It would be for clinic notes through MS Word. I type around 90 wpm with almost 10 years' experience. Thanks for any info!
RE: 1000 Lines ???
An average MT can transcribe upto 15-20 minutes of dictation per hour, i.e., 150-200 lines per hour, without compromise in quality. So, you can process 1000 lines in 6-1/2 hours.

new job 1000 lpd, old job 1100 lpd sm
I routinely do 1300-1500 and never break a sweat. I can't sit for 8 hours straight, so I tend to piddle around and I get up a lot.

I think that expectation is fair, but not for a newbie and probably a low expectation for one well experienced.

Old job I topped out at 160 lines an hour. COULD NOT manage more, no matter what I did. New job I top out at nearly 300 lph and I don't think that will get any better. The difference is the platform, since the new job has harder work (more ESLs, less clear audio, etc.)

It is all relative.
1000 lines a day, impossible? sm
this is not unrealistic.  On a good day, I can easily do 16-1700 lines! A mere 1000 lines per day is NOT an unachievable goal, even for a newbie or semi-newbie. My company requires 1200 lines a day, which I believe is about average!
I did and got it....$1000 for part-time.

Offered $5.50/1000 words??
Thank you in advance to anyone. I'm not sure if this is good or not.
how many 'pages' is 1000 lines?

Let's say using standard margins, and standard font.  I'm from the old school of 'pages', and hourly salary.  As I take on f/t employment in the world of 'lines per hour' and 'lines per day' .... what does that equate to, approximately ?

thanks guys ....

Joanne

probably about 100 minutes/1000 lines
15 years ago, I worked for a company that paid by the minute.  we got 87 cents for 1 minute.  I did 200 minutes a day and it was in the ballpark of 2000 lines.  it varies depending on your dictators but that's a good average.
