I may possibly be starting an infectious disease account soon. I have already ordered a Stedmans dictionary, but was wondering if anybody has done any work in this field and have any advice, websites to check, etc. on this specialty. I want to gain as much knowledge as I can before starting. I appreciate any input.

I worked for an infectious disease specialist sm
who was asked his opinion on someone suing a company because he caught pneumonia from being cold, then hot. This specialist said you cannot catch cold or any other illness from temperature, just from a bug. A person could get hypothermic and then get ill, but it would have to be in extreme cases. Here, it was 20 degrees on Monday and Tuesday, and yesterday 81, and today 62. I'm staying away from people who are coughing and sneezing. Temperature changes have nothing to do with illness.

I have Stedman's Organisms & Infectious Diseases, but it's out of date (2002) and an updated company has not been published. Does anyone recommend any books and/or web sites that can give me quick info including on meds for specific IDs? e.g., Stedman's lists HIV/AIDS medications alphabetically in the appendix.

I LOVE HER!!! She makes everything look SOooo delish! And, of course, the more fattening the better. I've tried quite a few of her recipes and never been disappointed. I would love to visit her restaurant one day.

I love watching her shows. Recently, she made a red velvet cake that I cannot wait to try (although it will probably be Christmas before I get around to it). My mom used to make red velvet cakes a lot when I was a child because my dad loved them. She would usually make them in December, either for Christmas or my dad's birthday, which was also in December. However, I've never seen anything like Paula Deen's version. She put pecans, marshmellows and cocconut in the icing--it was absouletely beautiful! P.S. I checked out that link....thanks!

I agree, paula looks drugged out 24/7...sm
she admits she is on *pain medications due to back problems* but it's ridiculous while she is on American Idol...she becomes sloppy, falls all over either Simon or Randy and then gushes over ALL the contestants.....I *heard* that when her contract is over, they are thinking of asking Cher to take Paula's place, and that would be so refreshing.
Personally, I am more sick of Paula Abdul on this show than Simon Cowell.

Recipe by Paula Dean. LQQK
 1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon House Seasoning (garlic powder, black pepper, and salt mix)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium bell pepper, chopped
1 cup grated Cheddar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup crushed crackers (recommended: Ritz)
1 teaspoon seasoned salt (recommended: Lawry's)
2 slices white bread
Sauce, recipe follows
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix all ingredients together, except the bread slices and Sauce. Shape into a loaf. Line a 1 1/2-quart loaf pan with the bread slices. Place meatloaf on top. Bake loaf for 45 minutes. The bread absorbs the grease and should be discarded after loaf is removed from oven.
Sauce:
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups grated Cheddar
Chopped onions, optional
1 bunch fresh parsley leaves, chopped, optional
Heat the soup and milk over medium heat; add the cheese. Add the chopped onions and parsley to the sauce, if desired. Pour Sauce over the meatloaf or pass at the table.

Okay, maybe it's because he seems a little older than the rest because of the gray hair (he's 16 years my junion), but he's kinda HOT these days! Last night when he was danced I was thinking........ I loved Taylor tonight. I really liked the last song he sang. I just got done having an argument with my husband who thinks that Katharine will win and should win and that if Taylor wins he won't sell any records. He just doesn't get it. My daughter and I have been trying to vote for Taylor since the show ended, but can't get through.

I must admit the first few weeks watching him was soooo annoying, but he has grown on me and I actually enjoy watching and listening to him sing and perform. He's good and I think he deserves to win! However, I must say I was confident that Chris would win, but unfortunately not. Therefore, my vote is for Taylor!!!!

I think Taylor will win it all. And I agree with what the poster said about Katharine. There is just something about her. When the judges say something bad she always has this look like, well that's what you think, but you're crazy.

I really like Elliott the best but I think Taylor
will win. I just think it's a shame if Kat is in the final two. I think Elliott completely deserves to be at LEAST 2nd. I think he will do well regardless and hope he gets a record deal out of this at least. He's different, Taylor is different, but nothing about Kat is anything but ordinary. Of course Chris was different too. I thought it would be cool to be down to the three guys. I think they're all unique, they all have completely different styles, and that's great. I think they ARE American Idols. They each highlight a different kind of music that Americans love. I really hope that Elliott stays tonight!
