Beth Moore is
I did a few of her Bible studies, but never been to see her.  Would absolutely love to, though.  You are blessed! Her Bible studies are great, you should try one if you haven't already.
I did a few years ago. Awsome!!! Changed my life. Beth Moore is the best teacher out there. nm

true...but they are living proof that
at least 6 times he was heterosexual lol.
I've used it as recent as a mont ago (for a year and a half total) with no problem.

In my exeprience, it has been MT friendly.  I did have some start up issues because of Vista, but that was easily resolved if you get a cust. svc rep with a little knowledge.  My issue was with getting word to run inside of the scribe program like it was supposed to.  It kept opening outside of scribe.  By Vista being so new to the platform, It was registry problem that needed some tweeking.

I have followed the unfolding of events
It seems that Star alienated a large portion of her audience with her weight loss (and the absence of information related to the necessity of her to turn to the medical community to accomplish this difficult task, appearing to give out the impression she was capable of doing this with restrictions and discipline?).

Then...the wedding coverage seemed over the top some how. It was said she used her status to obtain "freebies."

I rarely watched the show but did not that obvious change in Star's personality after her weight loss. It was just different somehow.

Saw the Larry King interview. She smiled nonstop and it made one think that the smile was false.

I don't know what her reasons are. She may have gotten drunk with success.
today's events
Well, as expected I woke up to emails in caps saying how as an IC things like...I guess ACTS OF NATURE can't happen and even though it was felt that I could go off of QA, now I need to be on another week and oh yeah, on top of that, at 2 cents less per line. Of course I said no, that what happened last night was not a QA problem anyway but a technical issue. I have a couple of other things lined up but I'm so upset. Now I have to go and buy a Lanier that I can't afford because I just bought the defective C-phone not even 3 weeks ago. Oh well, such is life. I really appreciate your kind words, they really do help.
I attended a wedding where even
It was absolutely beautiful! White bride's dress, black tuxedos with red roses, black bridesmaid's dressing with them carrying a red rose, and the bride's huge bouquet of red roses. It was very classy!
anyone ever attended a Quinceanera?
my 14yo daughter (and family it says) got invited to one this summer on south padre island.  gorgeous invitation in itself.  i was thinking of possibly taking her and making a vacation out of it as it is a good 600 miles away from us.  but was wondering what do you wear to one of these?  a fancy dress similar to what you would a "normal" wedding?  not like the one posted below, lol.  do you just give them something as a present like you would for a normal b-day party?  anyone with ideas or experience?
I attended a webinar on VBC
and the speaker noted it to be about an 18% difference in your pay. The Q started this whole mess with their billing practices or lack of em and, VBC should not be the MTs burden, but the burden of the MTSO. Placing it on the back of the MT is a great way to see it all go overseas and I hope these folks are ready to pay through the nose for good editors. I am looking to see if there is another industry out there right now who treats its skilled workers with such indignity .. I need to back away from the computer!!
I am 55 and just attended an info session
on the associate nursing program at the community college here. By the time I finished the whole program with prerequesites I would be close to 60 yo. The clinical part of the course sounded very demanding, especially if you have a family or have to work. Then once you get through the program the "cake" jobs may take a couple more years of experience to get. The lady said a lot of hospitals will hire you easier if you to have nursing home experience.

Anyway not for me at this late stage in my life. MTing has turned me into a lazy slacker and someone who doesn't even care any more about making a lot of $$$. Also I really don't like having to deal with sick people or doctors, as I worked in hospitals when I was younger and didn't like it.

Good luck!
POLL - Do you proof as you go or proof when finished? sm

I proof after, but would love to proof during.  I'm working on it.  I'm curious as to what percentage of MTs proof as they go or proof at the end?

Thx for responding.

Moore
Why would anyone waste their money to feed this idiots ego and lies..He is a moron...Proven
Thanks Beth
I brought in the sides, and it did help a bit. It helps until I can fix it correctly.

Thanks again. :)
I justed attended a meeting and this was addressed
There are now computers that will be performing surgery. The medical field is changing in ways that are not good, according to the speaker, in that the younger physicians coming into the field are not comparable to physicians of yesterday, generally speaking. He thought it was a good direction, this computerized physician. He also did state that insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies have much to say about what goes on in the medical field (they have power/money).

beyond Michael Moore
Perhaps you should check into the realities of the health care of those countries rather than take Michael Moore's word for it! You may find all is not what was presented in this very one-sided film. The grass is NOT always greener. I won't "flame you" as you said, but I would encourage you to do some research before jumping to conclusions.
There wasn't job insecurity, unanswered questioned, behind the scene events that could have major

Beth HT is a speech pathologist..sm
I am unsure what her husband does. She is staying in the same room Natalee stayed in. I imagine that a lot of the hotels and restaurants on the island are offering their services to the Holloway-Twitty family. I wouldn't go so far as to say they are spending their billions 'vacationing in Aruba.' Thats rude to assume.
You are exactly right. Beth is full of herself and her focus
is not where it should be.  It's time to sit down and shut up and let the professionals do their job.  She is in no position to criticize because she doesn't have all the facts.
anyone see Moore's film *SiCKO*??
among many other insurance companies......
yes, Heston got quite annoyed w/Moore LOLnm

MT, proof as I go. ME, go back and proof afterwards
I have only been editing 3-4 months, and I find I make at least twice the stupid mistakes on ME as with MT, so I do scan the ME reports --find double periods, caps where they are not supposed to be -- stupid stuff.

good luck!

I proof after - sm

I finish typing...every line of every single report that leaves my desktop.  I may find a typo (and, of, or, etc.) rarely, but I still proofread.  It's just something that I do .

I proof after.

I proof after

Depending on the report/dictator I can proof during... but I find I catch things better when I proof after. One day I will have the proof during mastered.

Proof as I go, always have...
x
Proof as you go DEFINITELY
I was trained to never pass over a word or something in question just to finish the report - you will invaribly miss or forget about it if you skip over it for a "final proof."

Have been an Editor for years and I am amazed at what even seasoned MTs will miss because they figured they would "fix" something when the report was finished. And, yes, your spell check or grammar check is never going to catch the difference between perineal and peroneal, etc.
Proof, of course.

Always have. Never proof again. sm
If I catch something other than spellcheck catches, I change. Otherwise, off it goes. Never, ever proof the entire report again.
No Proof
There is absolutely no proof.  The Labor Board DENIED her request as I have been in contact with them.  This is an ALLEGATION.  The Labor Board does NOT  handle Indendent Contractor situations.  The paperwork sent in by Doris Latta in reference to Lynn Jester of Jester's Touch was FRAUD.  It has been dismissed!  If you wish to continue to let just anyone post items about MT Services without PROOF, that's fine with me.  I care not!   The litigation is between Jester's Touch attorney and Doris Latta at this point so I am not concerned because I am very fair and good to all ICs that have and do work with me.
I proof as I go and sm

There was a time when I really did have to proof each and every word.  Last time I had an audit, it was better than 99% which is quite good enough.

There is a way to learn to do this and I can't really tell you want it is I do or how I do it exactly.  I have pretty high production (1500 to 1800 lines a day) and few mistakes.  I think it is just finding a flow because I have my off days when I have a lot of difficulty.

I proof as I go along
I have so many macros and templates, and because I only do H&P I bascially type the same things all the time for each specific doctor.
if you use playback and proof at the
same time that this feature would not be of benefit to you. Oh well, thanks for being honest.
and you proof read IMs too
!!!
There is proof in the statistics
Not long ago there was an article in Advance magazine about salaries.  CMTs do make an average of, I believe it was, 20% more than a non-CMT.  That's proof enough for me.
I proof as I transcribe, unless (sm)
I have a blank or blanks.  Then I listen to the whole report.
Been doing this 20 plus years and still proof after
always catch a typo or two and am glad I took the time to proof. Just can't seem to catch them all when I proof during transcription.
I'm so good, I don't have to proof....HA! HA!
I proof while I'm typing unless I'm doing a very difficult dictaotor.
Proof as I go, was taught this way! nm

Send him proof

When this happens to me, I go to several reliable sources and make sure that (1) I *am* spelling it correctly and there are not any alternative correct spellings and (2) that I have a source any doctor would not be able to argue about. I then type a polite note to the doctor and send it along with my proof. In my note, I include the comment that if he has found it spelled another way in a reliable reference, I'd be glad if he would let me know what reference that was, for my own information.  Once, for the name of a medical device, I went to the manufacturer's web page and printed the page describing the device and showing the spelling.  Along with my polite note, I faxed the web page to the doc.  The next dictation I got from him, he was very nice and apologetic and thanked me for being thorough! The worst that has happened is that I didn't hear anything back from a doc, but that's fine, too.  In the unlikely event that the doc STILL wants it spelled incorrectly (which has never happened to me, but it's possible) I would have him put it in writing that he wants it spelled that way.

You ought to proof your own posts, because
You said then, and it really should be them.  You should really practice what you preach, as your error jumped right out at me.
Proof reading
I have never heard of that either. I go over/listen to each report I type twice. QA is only there if I get stuck or have blanks.

Proof as I type sm

Unless I'm really tired, in which case I go back and proof, sometimes even listening to the dictation as I go.

But usually if I'm that tired, I stop transcribing and email the doc's office and tell them I will finish in the morning. Since I very, very rarely do that, they are pretty understanding about it.

I just have to add that I proof my posts too, but
before I post.
Never proof a report
Have been doing this over 25 years. I do spell check and do that when finishing a report. I work on VR (do some straight also) but the best thing I love about VR is almost human- things I do not have in my shortcuts, it changes on its own a lot of times, I love all the help I can get.
