sure are safer..nah
Sure, Bush, with your crazy war on terror, we sure are safer..NOT.  The world is now the terrorist breeding ground and target.  We have turned Iraq into terror city. Yup, Bush, you sure are doing a good job..NOT.Bush makes me want to puke.
So, you would have felt safer...
with Saddam in power?  Try to think beyond the simple.  Have a bigger vision.  Please, give me solutions to this problem.  How would you propose we defeat Islamic radicalism?  There are those who saw this coming 20+ years ago.  The 10+ years leading up to WWII were similar.  Europe chose to ignore the Nazi thread, hoping it wouldn't touch them.  This isn't going away.  It has to be changed fundamentally.  You want to put out fires, and there are those who want to clear the brush and prevent the fire.
Oh, yeah, I feel a lot safer now.
Well you've got all your Bush mouthpiece talking points down pat. But try and open your mind long enough to read the article and see just how smart it was to attack a country that had nothing to do with September 11.

Iraq New Terror Breeding Ground
War Created Haven, CIA Advisers Report

By Dana Priest
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, January 14, 2005; Page A01

Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the training ground for the next generation of "professionalized" terrorists, according to a report released yesterday by the National Intelligence Council, the CIA director's think tank.

Iraq provides terrorists with "a training ground, a recruitment ground, the opportunity for enhancing technical skills," said David B. Low, the national intelligence officer for transnational threats. "There is even, under the best scenario, over time, the likelihood that some of the jihadists who are not killed there will, in a sense, go home, wherever home is, and will therefore disperse to various other countries."

Low's comments came during a rare briefing by the council on its new report on long-term global trends. It took a year to produce and includes the analysis of 1,000 U.S. and foreign experts. Within the 119-page report is an evaluation of Iraq's new role as a breeding ground for Islamic terrorists.

President Bush has frequently described the Iraq war as an integral part of U.S. efforts to combat terrorism. But the council's report suggests the conflict has also helped terrorists by creating a haven for them in the chaos of war.

"At the moment," NIC Chairman Robert L. Hutchings said, Iraq "is a magnet for international terrorist activity."

Before the U.S. invasion, the CIA said Saddam Hussein had only circumstantial ties with several AL Qaeda members. Osama bin Laden rejected the idea of forming an alliance with Hussein and viewed him as an enemy of the jihadist movement because the Iraqi leader rejected radical Islamic ideals and ran a secular government.

Bush described the war in Iraq as a means to promote democracy in the Middle East. "A free Iraq can be a source of hope for all the Middle East," he said one month before the invasion. "Instead of threatening its neighbors and harboring terrorists, Iraq can be an example of progress and prosperity in a region that needs both."

But as instability in Iraq grew after the toppling of Hussein, and resentment toward the United States intensified in the Muslim world, hundreds of foreign terrorists flooded into Iraq across its unguarded borders. They found tons of unprotected weapons caches that, military officials say, they are now using against U.S. troops. Foreign terrorists are believed to make up a large portion of today's suicide bombers, and U.S. intelligence officials say these foreigners are forming tactical, ever-changing alliances with former Baathist fighters and other insurgents.

"The al-Qa'ida membership that was distinguished by having trained in Afghanistan will gradually dissipate, to be replaced in part by the dispersion of the experienced survivors of the conflict in Iraq," the report says.

According to the NIC report, Iraq has joined the list of conflicts -- including the Israeli-Palestinian stalemate, and independence movements in Chechnya, Kashmir, Mindanao in the Philippines, and southern Thailand -- that have deepened solidarity among Muslims and helped spread radical Islamic ideology.

At the same time, the report says that by 2020, al Qaeda "will be superseded" by other Islamic extremist groups that will merge with local separatist movements. Most terrorism experts say this is already well underway. The NIC says this kind of ever-morphing decentralized movement is much more difficult to uncover and defeat.

Terrorists are able to easily communicate, train and recruit through the Internet, and their threat will become "an eclectic array of groups, cells and individuals that do not need a stationary headquarters," the council's report says. "Training materials, targeting guidance, weapons know-how, and fund-raising will become virtual (i.e. online)."

The report, titled "Mapping the Global Future," highlights the effects of globalization and other economic and social trends. But NIC officials said their greatest concern remains the possibility that terrorists may acquire biological weapons and, although less likely, a nuclear device.

The council is tasked with midterm and strategic analysis, and advises the CIA director. "The NIC's goal," one NIC publication states, "is to provide policymakers with the best, unvarnished, and unbiased information -- regardless of whether analytic judgments conform to U.S. policy."

Other than reports and studies, the council produces classified National Intelligence Estimates, which represent the consensus among U.S. intelligence agencies on specific issues.

Yesterday, Hutchings, former assistant dean of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, said the NIC report tried to avoid analyzing the effect of U.S. policy on global trends to avoid being drawn into partisan politics.

Among the report's major findings is that the likelihood of "great power conflict escalating into total war . . . is lower than at any time in the past century." However, "at no time since the formation of the Western alliance system in 1949 have the shape and nature of international alignments been in such a state of flux as they have in the past decade."

The report also says the emergence of China and India as new global economic powerhouses "will be the most challenging of all" Washington's regional relationships. It also says that in the competition with Asia over technological advances, the United States "may lose its edge" in some sectors.

Staff writer Bradley Graham and researcher Julie Tate contributed to this report.
I use an electric afghan, safer than a heater
Hi: I paid about $35 for an afghan-size warming blanket I think on Overstock.com. I just make a little semicircle of blankie and keep the foot pedal in there. To warm my hands, I use 2 gooseneck lamps from Target, they were $10 each, one on each side of my desk, amazing how much heat from a light bulb. Wise
Yes. It is definitely quicker, however, the
red tape, I mean...come on people...We work our $$SES off..
just thought you might get quicker help there
xx
I just crochet them together instead of sewing. It's quicker. -nm

quicker than wildfire if no asnwer
As an American Transcriptionist, how dare they feel they can take our work and our forums....Any one who ever noted how proud and American they are would go fast if not American site anymore. Otherwise a bunch of hypocrites.
Try Crap Cleaner
Google for it and download (should be from Hippo). Run it - let it analyze and run cleaner. Then go to "tools" and "fix issues." After that reboot your computer and then try to get the gid file again. Hopefully this will clean out anything you've got blocking it.

Canned

Did anyone every have one company where they totally bombed and another where they just loved you?  Been with hospital for 11 years and never had any problems, if fact, told by a passing through doctor, one of the best he's worked with.  My first national pt position let me go because my QA was low.  I have a lot of ESL on primary account but this company had a couple of docs that I could not understand at all even after looking over old reports.

Sorry, I guess I need to get a little cheese with mine Whine.

Definitely canned air.

My first job working at a dry cleaner/laundry. sm
Working on a shirt folding machine in the summertime with temp over 100 degrees indoors.  Smelling the dry cleaning fumes.
Download Crap Cleaner (sm)
Google for it. I will clean out all your cache, even the hidden stuff.
Hired house cleaner
You are getting a deal at $12 an hour. I pay mine $20. I carry an umbrella policy on my home on vehicle that is $1 million over my regular home insurance - it costs less than $200 a year and will cover anyone that is injured in your home or vehicle - It is well worth it. This policy picks up where the other two leave off, should anyone need that much in medical care.
Great Vacuum Cleaner
Riccar Vacuum Cleaners are the only way to go. Very strong suction. Easy to use.
Try some canned compressed air as
transferred from your foot get down in there.  Spray it good with the air and if something is in there causing it to stick.  I've used foot pedals (knock on wood) for 10 years.  I use the compressed air though to keep them dust/crumb free.
canned transcriptions
I think I would ask the company if I can correct all the errors. I have done that with my employer and he is happy that I have fixed things. I can't stand to have things be wrong and have my name on them.
As long as it takes to post on here, google came up quicker

You're welcome Tad, you will get quicker answers on the word board

I love my Roomba robot cleaner
It has a remote control - no pushing it around, and it's fun to watch.
yes AdAware is good, so is that cleaner program
but just to be wary about others that offer free antivirus and then latch onto your system so you will buy it...
:)
I used the canned air also or shake it upside down.
Then I take a damp sponge and wipe it down while unplugged. I have heard you can soak in water as long as you let it completely air dry before using but I've been afraid to do that. I will have to Google that one ;)
Need some good advice on a GREAT vacuum cleaner...sm
We vacuum at least twice daily because we bought carpet that tracks like you would not believe.  We bought a Eureka bagless vacuum cleaner about 4 months ago and it is the pits!  Does not pick up, you have to REALLY clean it every time...who knows what the real problem is...I would not mind paying good money for a GOOD vacuum cleaner that does not lose suction...Any ideas?
I use C-Cleaner. Gets rid of spyware and the like. Works wonderful and is Free. nm

We keep a 2 week supply of canned food,

a Coleman stove, propane, water, etc.,  in our basement because we live in an area that is prone to heavy snow and blizzards, low temperatures, and we cannot always get out in wintertime, but I sure don't see any long lines of the politicians here pretending to help us. They would free their backsides so, thankfully, they stay out of our business and we stay safe.  I have quit sympathizing with those who know they are in the path of storm and do nothing about it.  The idiots in Cancun knew that area was directly in the path so now they moan and groan because they can't get out.  Too bad!

As far as Florida goes, you go through this same thing several times a year, so you have been through the drill.  If you don't like the weather, move somewhere else.  Don't stand in lines with your hands out waiting for sympathy.

Semi-related tip: use the canned air on your footpedal too
mine went nuts one day not long after I started with a new job, I requested another footpedal and got it mailed out, and then that one didn't work, either. I got to looking and there was fur in both of them! So I keep the canned air close by and keep it blown out!
Ctrl Z may be quicker than going to the Edit menu. It reverts back to what you typed.

canned air is good but scares the * outta my cats!
We're talking heart attack city for all 3 of them!
Can anywone recommend a good vacuum cleaner? My old one broke and has to be replaced. Thanks. NM
nm
No, it is 65 character lines including spaces. The only canned text is my own.
I get mostly the same dictators on the same account every day. I do have carpal tunnel starting, so, gotta get it while I can.
Template lines usually refer to pretyped canned reports
These would include such templates like epidural steroid injections and such where you are just typing in patient demographics and the date of procedure, cataract surgeries, or whatever canned dictation the physicians have come up with so they can cut costs and not dictate. Make sure you are not always having to revise the templates constantly at no cost; otherwise, that is a good price.
If only they could ditch Brooke Burke and her insipid canned commentary. And those outfits. nm

ATTENTION all MTSO and hospital...please get 1-800 numbers...UNLIMITED LONG DISTANCE is being canned
This is going to be a HUGE problem for everyone involved.  The long distance companies are watching and they DO NOT LIKE what we do over their lines, so please, consider getting 1-800 numbers.  You could possibly charge each MT a small amount each month to cover the bill.  Seems like a logical way to go!  What does everyone think?
