Is your antivirus program up to date
and a really good one because I'm thinking it sounds like you have a virus.  I got a virus on my computer even though I had a Norton antivirus program running on it.  There are so many new viruses that come out all the time it's hard for the antivirus programs to keep up with them.  Maybe you should install a different antivirus programs/sypware CD than the one on your computer.  Just a thought
Norton antivirus program
If my Norton antivirus program expires, will it still work but just not allow me to get updates, or will it stop working altogether?  I was hoping to wait until the weekend to install a new one.
Check your antivirus program or firewall.

You don't know how you would react

if you were in the mother's shoes.   I'm sure she is desperate and may not be thinking rationally and needs to hang onto something.   Also there is so much misinformation by the media, that we don't know anything really, other than they have no proof that she is dead, evidently not the first scrap of evidence, yet they seem to not really be doing much of anything either and for those crucial first 2 weeks didn't seem to do much of anything.

Mine was an American with no accent, but I just realize I seem to react (SM)
to these horrible dictations the same way I do to jumping into an ice cold pond. I hold my breath and try to type as fast as I can, then go back and see if I can clean it up. Just hope they aren't too long so I don't turn blue while I am typing.

How do I get my messages on here.
I need another MT's help. My e-mail address is erinrempalski@yahoo.com. I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

I got the same messages....
Two of them, one Susan Poe and one Susan Ronald or something like that. What's the link?
AVG Antivirus
I agree - AVG Antivirus is great - I actually have the pro version, which has a few more bells and whistles, but the free version is great too - mine runs an update every morning and scans my entire hard drive once a week and I never even notice - it also does a registry scan on startup, so you don't load anything onto your system when you turn your computer on - it's great!
Antivirus
It works great! No headaches like with Nortons. It runs and you don't even know it.
Messages deleted??
I really want to thank all you wonderful people who have tried to help me today. I am wondering what happened to all of the posts though, as I am only seeing a few of the many that were earlier this afternoon. Did the administrator delete some of them? If so, why?
Wow..beautiful messages...THANK YOU EVERYONE!

I really appreciate you all taking the time to give me some insight.  I'm going to hang in there.  The one poster was right--I do have PTSD from my old job who stressed me continously about firing me!  Sigh..that was a horrible experience and I'm still burned from that.  I had never gone through anything like that before.  Every job I've ever had, I excelled with it. Well again, THANK YOU!

But I appreciate the warning and hopefully no one else will get taken.

Thanks for the warning!!!
That was the kind of feedback I was looking for. If I don't ask, I know I won't find out. You have helped me. Thank you.

Thanks for the warning - sm
I too have sat by and watch other MLSs at my current company sabotage others doing the same thing.

This is why I like working at home. No office politics and I can choose to ignore the hen pecking and prattle by coworkers.

Warning!
This is a great idea. Maybe you can warn the people aspiring to be MTs not to go in it for the money. I enjoy transcribing and love staying at home, but no way could I ever make a decent living doing this only. I have had to take on two jobs working 16 hours a day to make what I made when I first started out. Its sad.
Thank you for the warning.........

The sad thing is, for you who are Christians, is that these companies do not realize or care that they will answer to Jesus the King of all for their sins (it remains to be seen if it will be in this life or in the life to come).  Its a tripp, MTSO want an honest, hardworking MT, but use every trickery in the book...............

Antivirus software
I used to buy my software directly on the internet, but found that AVG is free, was highly recommended by many tech guys, and I have it running on two computers in the house. Catches all of the new viruses, so I don't have to worry about spending all that money on antivirus software. Try it. Goggle it to find the free software, as it updates on a daily basis and it scans your computer any time you want it to.
perhaps your antivirus or antispam?

Antivirus 2009
You are so right...it was entirely my fault...I definitely will be more careful from now on! I downloaded the Malwarebytes antivirus and it has partially removed it, but it is still blocking my IE, not sure how to get rid of this but I will keep trying.

Thank you so much for your help.
Antivirus programs sm

On my personal computer, I seem to have picked up some kind of virus.  I keep getting popups all over the place and one of them is telling me that I have viruses and I should purchase their program to remove them, which I don't want to do because that program is likely a virus in sheep's clothing.  I was running AVG (the free program) but apparently it did not stop whatever bug I picked up.

My questions are:
1.  If I purchase an antivirus program (from Walmart or Staples, for example), will this remove whatever has already taken up residence on my PC?

2.  What is the best virus program for the money on the market?

Thanks in advance!

REAL messages from ebay will show up as a message in your "My eBay" page as well.  lynn
How do you encrypt your email messages?

I think I'm getting my first contract that I solicited myself, so bear with me.  Does Outlook or Outlook Express have features where I can safely send emails back to the doc with the transcriptions, or do I need a stand-alone product for HIPAA compliance?

Thanks!

I had problems with error messages
and the tech support at my company told me to run detect and repair in Word and that fixed it right up. Try that. Detect and repair is under the Help menu.

Silly to move messages
Unless things get really out of hand, I think it is silly to move messages around. So what if they are not in the best spot for them.

They should at least leave the ones that already have replies.
I have never found a program shorthand does not work with, it works outside the program (I think tha

What kind of antivirus do you use on your computer? sm
I have been using Norton AV, but my nephew (who goes to ITT Tech) says that I can just use AVG which is a free download antivirus....Im just not sure what to do.  The tech guy I normally use is the one who said Norton.  Anyone here use the free downloadable antiviruses or do you get better protection with the "paid" for antiviruses?   Thanks.
I doubt that, they use antivirus all the time. NM

question about antivirus software
I have always purchased my antivirus software online and downloaded it onto my computer.   If I buy the software, say at Sam's Club or anywhere, can it be loaded onto numerous computers?  I have 4 networked in my home and all are going to be running out of protection soon.  In other words if I only have to buy it once that would be great.  TIA
Beware of Antivirus 2009

While working late at night, I had something pop up that I thought was a MS product called Antivirus 2009, and thinking it was an update on their security, without checking it out, I clicked ok, then at the end, it states it costs $59...and I realized that it was not MS, so I backed out of it.  I currently have AVG 8.0 and it has always done a good job for me...but now after several days and asking several different places, plus the Internet, I cannot get rid of this.  It seems to be tied into my Google site, the one I use so much.

Does anyone know how you get rid of it?  I removed the software (or so I thought) from my program) but it is blocking Google, and just keeps popping up constantly...driving me absolutely nuts.

Does anyone know of a solution to get rid of this?  I hate to pay a techie to come out to my house to get rid of this, but I will if I have to...just thought I would ask here first.

Thank you for your help.

Beware of Antivirus 2009
AVG is great and not a resource "hog' like McAfee or Norton -- I have had computer problems in the past, and have dealt with Hiwired.com -- they are inexpensive, ALL USA-based techs and great people to work with -- they understand the MT and if you need a progam completely erased and you tell them as such, they will do it -- I had a problem a couple of weeks ago with Adobe and could NOT get files to load that were in that format -- they got it cleared up and no problems but almost every "tekkie" person including them, that I have talked to has recommended AVG
I am running antivirus softwre sm
and I am not working right now. The problem hs been going on for a couple months. I cleaned out my computer and it helped alot of other things, but not this problem. Thanks for the reply.
I would not bet on free antivirus programs,
that's how one usually gets some viruses in.

Download
McAfee
or
Norton.

Nothing good is for free....
for TechSupport: Do you think that free antivirus
programs ar safe?
WARNING to those trying to PREVENT it.....
A few years ago my daughter's 2nd grade class kept having a lice problem. My daughter never showed any signs of it BUT one day she came home and told me her 2 best friends, who she played with and sat by, were sent home with it. So I panicked and did the stuff in her hair just to get anything that (in my mind) was probably there.

Well, my daughter had a neurologic reaction to the RID or whatever I used. Her one arm was shaking, it was scary. I took her to the ED and the doc made me feel about 1 inch tall. He said "WHY WOULD YOU PUT IT ON HER IF SHE DIDN'T HAVE LICE???"

I explained but he said people just don't get it, this stuff is basically a PESTICIDE.

So if your child has it then use it, but PLEASE don't just use it to keep him/her "clean" as a measure to prevent it. Take it from a ~guilt-ridden~ mother.

I saw a warning on another one of your posts (SM)
and I think it is because your initials have MQ in them and they are going through and deleting anything related to that company that is posted here, even though you say nothing about the company. I don't think that is right, because you are answering other things and not bringing your company name into this.
That wuz a creeper warning, lol. nm

Book as a Warning...
I would like the book to be as realistic as possible because people looking into it are going to be making an investment in time and money.  That's why when some people suggested I do a "how-to" to get into this business, I really wasn't sure because I didn't want people to think it was easy money like some ads have you believe.  I wouldn't go so far as a warning... just being realistic about what you can achieve.  I want MT input, which is great, because this way it won't be lopsided with my experiences only.  Thanks!
