Please feel free to send me an email regarding...
your post. My response is far too long to post here, and could possibly be deleted if I provide names.

No sound a likes, but lots of other choices...

If the doc takes Medicare, which most do, you will find him here.  You can narrow it to specialty, first name, last name, partial last name, city, state, or all of the above.  Much more thorough than WebMD.  Good luck.

I take MetaboLife, ephedra free. Love it, lots of energy. nm

Easy free alternative to FTP for uploading lots of files?
I currently have a temp account that wants to send me a large # of files. I have tried to set them up with a free FTP utility but she is having trouble using it. For some reason she can receive files from me fine but cannot upload them from her computer, and I am stumped as to why this would be. So I am wondering if there is an alternative out there to FTP that is both easy and free (or low-cost). She's willing to FedEx them to me on CD if all else fails but any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks.
YES!! Love 'em! Lots of fun, doesn't feel like working out. :)

Feel free. nm

Anyone familiar with Thawte for their free encryption email service?

I was looking at Thawte for a security measure for sending medical reports through email.  Has anyone here used them before or know anyhthing more concerning this company?

TIA~

Jodi, you feel free to post whenever you want to and if you see something

ugly posted, you just email me directly and I'll deal with it.  I am intolerant of people being mean on this site.  I can be reached at admin@mtstars.com.

On an episode of Dr. Phil I saw just the other day, he said that children have a hard enough time living outside of a broken home, but should never have to live INSIDE of a broken home.  Wise words, in my opinion.  I, personally, think you did the right thing and as long as you are taking care of your children and have a decent roof over their heads, he really can't do much.  Like you said, if he wants to partake in your children's upbringing then he can come to see them.  Unless you moved closer to your parents or siblings then you should probably sit tight where you are since you have a home church and people there who you can talk to.  Also, there are very caring people who post here regularly, so please don't give up on this site just because of a bad apple.

Feel free to e-mail me privately. I

am by no means a techie, but I've BTDT so can at least point you in the right direction.

If you do have a power outage, unless it is a catastrophic outage that might affect the cell towers, then yes an air card is the only thing that would work.

A laptop battery if new will last maybe three hours, but the more things you do on it the less it will last.  If you are surfing the net while working then it uses more power, so even in a power outage a laptop may not be a saving grace - but, you can get an inverter that you can plug into the cigarette lighter in your car and it then gives you a outlet that you can plug your laptop into or a cell phone.  You can find them at Target for about $15.  Can probably find in a computer/electronics store too.  We have a large one that has 4 plugs.  We can even plug in the crock pot and cook while we're traveling.

heading there this fall..feel free to share

She was a real wimp about anything (the kind that screams bloody murder for a stubbed toe and was afraid to do anything for fear of getting hurt). I finally sat her down and talked to her about things that will heal easily. We finally came down to 1 rule in the house that can never be broken: No broken necks. Lots of blood and visible bones will usually heal (comparitively easily), but they must be attended to quickly.
Feel free to send me an e-mail via this board
:)

i have word 2000 free standing as well with no problems. email support, they will help you shortly.
you shouldn't struggle with having problems. support is there to help us and they are good at their job. as with any new acct, there are always gonna be some kinks. i had some to work out as well with my end of the system. it doesn't sound like something you can fix; probably something with how the two tie in together. did you log out and back in and see if that helped?
Of course you can, but there is a board for that purpose. Feel free to post on the Comedy Stop.

You have several choices
You can change the current Singles glossary you are using under Options/Singles

It may take some searching and time, but look. Not all companies post on this forum. Reach out to any and all contacts that you have ever had in the MT world. If more of us refuse to get paid an income that is ridiculously low, things will have to improve. I've walked away from jobs before for various reasons and I've always found work. I just refused to get paid crap for my knowledge. I refuse to work extra hours every day to make up for lousy technology. Period. As much as I love being an MT, I'd walk away from this work and do whatever it took to make a DECENT income. It's a matter of what's right.

Where you come off comparing gay lifestyle choices to sm
pedophiles (which can be compared with, say, serial killers IMHO) is NUTS. Pedophiles rape children and break the law. And you are showing a common thread HOW????
Thanks! You're right; it's all about making the right choices. NM

With those choices, go with 9 cents/line

I worked for a company that paid by the report - $1.15 for everything except interventionals, which were $2.25.  Per report is fine until you start getting into the 2-page MRI reports, which I had a lot of. When I found this website and saw what the per-line rate was for some people, I started checking the line counts and comparing. The only reports I was actually coming out ahead on were things like chest x-rays that were only 2 or 3 lines. You can see that at 9 cents a line, once you get more than about 12 lines, you make more being paid by the line.

I have two part-time jobs now, one paid by the line and the other by the report, but the pay per report is VERY good, much higher than the going rate, because these are radiologists I have worked with before and a) they are very generous and b) they appreciate my expertise.

I guess what I'm saying here is if you are paid enough per report, go for it. $1.10 - fugedaboutit!!

LOTS and LOTS of video tapes and DVDs.

True. So then don't work. We're talking CHOICES here. nm

Not upset - everyone makes bad choices in their life at some time or another. sm
No one is perfect. Hopefully, someone will give you a chance and your money and time won't be wasted.

Good luck to you!
I know why I am transcribing (a few bad choices I made early in life) - sm
But I did not lie about my IQ when I replied. There are genuine circumstances that prevent potential from being realized. I don't think I would have ever had the mentality to hold up a job more suited to my potential, though, and would have probably fallen on my face, had I been a doctor or a lawyer or such. I do know I would be dead now (long story). The direction I took was what seems now like a bad choice in life that lead to MT'ing to make a living, but in talking with my friends, they think it was providential.

MT'ing is easy because I remember everything without references. It helps me feel better about myself, and I make easy money.

Maybe this is what was intended.

Totally understanding. Our kids grow up and we have no choices.
My dear friend just called me yesterday crying because her daughter is living with her partner and the partner is pregnant. The daughter is sooo happy, the mother cried. So what you're describing is happening more than where you are and it is saddening. What can she do, nothing. Our kids whether we like it or not grow up and jump out to make their own choices. Some of these choices are "you can't tell me what to do anymore!" And, we have no choice but to live with it. So the choices then become to be miserable OR focus on your own life and work on making yourself happy in spite of what your kids put you through. You have a life, don't let your kid drown it out because of his poor choices. You may think who am I to say such a thing, I'm the mom whose son made poor choices and went to jail, I'm the mom whose daughter chose to abort my first grandbaby, I'm the mom whose son left his wife and kids after almost 10 years of marriage. I really do know how you feel. Find some joy for yourself in your life, you won't find it when you're looking at his.
You can accept the changes or you can shape the changes. THOSE are the choices. Reactive versus Pr
I choose to be proactive.  Apparently, the consensus here is to lie down like a dog and just let it happen.
How about setting a monetary limit and give choices, sm
such as: Would the MT rather have PTO, a Stedmans reference book of choice, or cash?

I have used this for years and have compared to Sylvan, Word, and MP Count, etc. When you have it set to count every character, bold, shift, tab, etc. It is great and always higher than the others. Now if you are wanting gross lines like in Word then no it won't be as high because Word counts blanks lines and Abacus counts a line only if there is a character on it. There is also two places to check for it to count the Headers/Footers. If you have the FREE version then it must be the trial or a very old version so you don't have all the features and functions.

would be nice. MQ is not getting any easier. My account has been picked over thoroughly when it went on DQS by ASR and I get all the remains because they only have a core group doing ASR which I think is wrong because you get all the bad dictators and it would be nice to be acknowledged that at least you know the person you can discuss problems with as they crop up. This is a big one and we have no manager anymore and no one to discuss this with at all in my office so you just sit here very day doing this work and no way to vent to someone that could offer some suggestions on this and other issues that come up to help relieve some of the stress of working this way.
Just send an email to the email link inside the post.

Again, because you entered your email address, you CAN receive email from anyone, but THEY

e-mail address because it is not revealed when they send mail because we have spam protection in place.  The only way they would know what your email address is, is if you reply to the email they send you.  If you don't want to receive any email from anyone, simply do not enter your email address in the Email field.

Nothing new since the beginning of time..calories in, calories out. good food choices..portion size

Whether its a choice or inborn, some of us fight the choices or inborn

nature of desires that are out of sync with nature.  I am sure pediophiles will say they can't help themselves and it is a natural instinct and attraction but not every one acts upon the instincts/attractions.

I know I am attracted to eating junk food, all day every day.  Big Macs, juicy extra cheese pizza, fries deep fried in animal fat, etc. I have never craved a nice salad and some fresh fruit.  If I follow my instincts and did what I want, I would be a very unhealthy 600 lb blob.

Sometimes one just needs to put things in perspective. You have free will to do what you want to do but it isn't always right to follow those instincts.

What company out here that you know of compensates for having a degree? Means nothing to them. Your working and being there when they assign/need/require/whatever is what you should do IF YOU WANT A JOB in this field, otherwise get out and do something else or become that babysitter.
