foot pedal software..HELP

I have an Infinity foot pedal with USB port, but no software to go with it.  When I bought the thing, did not realize software was not included with the pedal as job I ordered for fell through in the interim.  I now went to use the pedal and realize there is no software to put into my computer so the foot pedal is recognized.

ANY HELP...suggestions...please.

What are do you mean? Foot pedal, software, ??????
xx
Again, it is in the software, not the foot pedal.
The Express Scribe program will play many file types, among them .wav and .dss. If your foot pedal does not work, the problem is either the software you're using or the foot pedal configuration. Express Scribe does have a foot pedal set up wizard to help you with that process. Express Scribe is a free download.
What software are you using with the foot pedal and for transcription? Sm
Express Scribe, Bytescribe Wav Player, etc.????  There should be something under options/settings for selecting USB with these software programs.
I used their software/foot pedal. It is just a wave
file program.
Have you set the foot pedal up in your software. Not doing so can be a major factor in why SM
won't work.  I know lots of people who just plugged the foot pedal into the computer but never set it up in the software and they had the same problems that you are having.
I think your Infinity foot pedal has iNet software
set up so it will not play with Express Scribe (I had the same problem). I ended up buying a new Infinity foot pedal off ebay for $65 including shipping and it works fine on Express Scribe and WinScribe. Good luck!
Is there a quick way to get WavPedal software? I have a new computer and the foot pedal, but...sm

no software.  A company is asking for it to test.

Foot pedal? Going from VXP to applying for other companies. What foot pedal should I get that woul
I need one even just to test so it seems.  Thanks for the input!
Free? As in, free trial? Otherwise, I don't think you'll find a spellcheck software that's
y
You can buy just the Start/Stop software w/o the pedal if you're able to use your pedal as a VEC

A wave pedal is a foot pedal that connects to either
serial port, game port, or USB depending on the software needed with it.   You have to download the work via the internet and most companies still require high-speed internet, though some allow dial-up or satellite.   A pedal costs about $70, though can find on e-bay cheaper.  You can download ExpressScribe for free to use with the foot pedal unless the company requires a different software program.
wav pedal is a foot pedal that plugs into your

computer so you can transcribe wav files.  There are many other formats such as DSS, but they are all digital voice files.

I don't think brand of foot pedal is important, but need to know if it is game port, serial port, or USB and how many pins it has.   The majority of them are made by Infinity in some foreign country, but sold by many companies.

WAV pedal vs. USB port foot pedal

PLEASE HELP! Are wav pedals and USB port foot pedals one in the same?  I've only transcribed from audio tapes, and all this is new to me.  Thank you for your help.

I also have a USB foot pedal. Do most companies use the USB pedal or SM

will I need a 9-pin or a 15-pin.  Also, which transcription software for playing back audio files is the best?  I've used one that was a fee download, I think it was called Bytescribe or somethingl ike that.  Does that work for most all files or should I look into purchasing something like Start/Stop or GearPlayer?

Oh and does anyone know where I can get Microsoft Word or Office Suite for a reasonable (I'd say cheap, but cheap usually means bootleg) price?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but it's been a while since I've worked for a national.  Before the hopsital job I'm being laid off from, I worked in the office at a hospital.  So I've been out of the loop so to speak.

Thanks guys.

free software....
I guess I'm just ditzy.... but what is all this about the software... how do I access this?? Thanks for your patience!
free software
Oh - gotcha.  Thanks.... but what is everyone going on about the new features??  I'm still lost on that -
which FTP software is it that is free? nm
;
Free AV software
The free version of AVG is the only one that I'd recommend among the freebies. My preference would be either the "total" AVG product (not free) or Norton.

Unfortunately, no single AV software is able to catch every single virus. You have to consider that by some estimates there are a thousand or more viruses being released every day, which means that no virus software can hope to be 100% up to date.
Software for foot pedals? sm

If I would purchase an Infinity foot pedal, would I be able to use it with any software, such as Expresscribe or my MP3 player? Or does it come with some type of software.

Still afraid to purchase a foot pedal as I bought one last year and it just sits here because I can't get it to work.  Tried it with Expresscribe and get a message that the connection is not recognized (USB port).

Thanks

To those MTs who suggested the FTP (free) software SM
Thank you so much! DH downloaded it, installed it, and I am transferring files with no problems....something the IT department of this MTSO couldn't do in six weeks of haggling!!! So thanks to those of you who helped out - it was GREATLY appreciated!
eh? free pc? you couldn't pay me to take one - who knows what software it has on it?! nm

Best free encryption software? sm
I'm going out of town tomorrow, kind of a mini family emergency, and for the first time will have to drag my laptop along to work.  The encryption software on my main computer cannot be transferred to the laptop.  Anyone have opinions on free encryption software that is fast to install, good quality, and easy to use.  I don't have enough time to learn new software or putz with it.  Thanks.
Found free FTP software
When I clicked on the FTP words in your message it took me to the description of what an FTP is and if you scroll down there are a list of places to get free downloads. Super.

Thank you everyone. I will try and work with these and see what happens.
Lynn
There is free invoicing software out there. Maybe someone
s
This is free SOFTWARE, not STORAGE.
There is a difference.
What pedal software?

Express Scribe has a wizard that will help you get your pedal to work with their program. There is not a separate software program for the pedal.

Open Express Scribe, choose Settings, Playback and Control. Make sure the box for footpedal playback control is checked. In the Port box, make a selection based on the type of pedal you have (USB, serial port, etc.) In the Pedals box, choose 3-pedal (forward, back, play). Click on the Footpedal Control Wizard Setup and use that to help set up the pedal. If it doesn't work the first time, try making a different selection in the Port box until you find one that will work.

AND - most foot pedals need software to work. $$$

Use your mouse and keep going back as another poster said.  It is time consuming, but you'll be surprised at finding that something you thought you didn't understand will become crystal clear after listening to it over and over.  :)

When I tested, I kept having to going back and back and then I suddenly realized that the word I could not figure out, "Whameetig" was the word "vomiting."

Good luck!!!

But they give you $2000 in free software!

free or cheap linecount software

Just bought a new computer and need to load a linecounting software program.  Used to have MTCount which was free but now it has changed to MTTools and is no longer that way.  Any suggestions?

free line count software
I need a free download for line count software that is accurate, anybody know one.  Thanks.  wordgenie
free voice file software

I am in need of a software that plays .dvf files.  I currently use Gear Player, and although it plays a multitude of different files, I can't get it to play .dvf.  Does anyone know of a free one online I can try?  Thanks!!

Anyone know where I can get the old MPCount software that was a free download?
I know that it is now part of MPTools or something like that and you have to pay for it, but I just want the old version.
Advice on free or cheap MT software, please

I need a software program similar to GearPlayer, free or cheap. Is there one that anyone can recommend? I want one that would work with the GearPlayer footpedal I have or with easy keyboard commands to start, stop, rewind, etc.

I ran across a site months ago that had older versions of Stedman's spellchecker for $30 or so. If anyone knows that site, or one similar, please share that info, as well.

I also need WordPerfect, as new a version as I can get, but as inexpensive as I can get, also.

Thanks!

Do you pay for the wave pedal and software? I don't.
I rent the computer with the pedal and everything for $50 a month.

I have never spent any money on the software -- MQ has provided it free.

They reimburse my DSL 100% every month. When I hooked up to it, it only cost me $12.95 and they reimbursed that as well.

I can makeup time I lost to bad weather. I don't like it, it's not my first choice, but I certainly don't expect them to PAY me just because there is a storm and it is safest not to have the system plugged into power. Even when I worked in a local hospital on an hourly basis, in bad weather we were off the computers...but I also was available for that hourly rate to file and do other things they wanted. I'm not doing that for MQ when I'm able to type for that reason so they don't owe me anything but the chance to make it up or forfeit any action if it caused me to miss my production.

I'm really surprised though, if you are having to pay extra for your pedal and software, etc. Sorry to hear that.

The pedal isn't the issue, it is the software.
ExpressScribe is free and works with most of the formats, but not sure all of them.  Start/Stop also works with the majority of formats, as does Bytescribe.  You can buy a pedal from e-bay, the equipment board here, or just about any transcription equipment company that will work with ExpressScribe.
Does anyone know of a trial WAV pedal software

Also regarding foot pedals and antivirus software programs
You can also try to find foot pedals on ebay, there they are much cheaper, I know, everybody knows this.

I think every antivirus software 'works' with any platform.
Why should it make a difference?
I do not think that the companies mean that some antivirus softwares DO NOT WORK with their platforms, they just ask for the safest and believe tht these 2, Norton and McAfee are the safest.

I work with Escription/Editscript and it is strongly recommended by my employer that either Noton or McAfee is downloaded and paid for.

I have McAfee, because, be;ieve it or not, MTSOs see these 2 as sefest.

Now I am expecting to be bashed by certain MTs for my 'rude' comment.
Never mind.
What is the best foot pedal?
What is the best foot pedal to have?  Which one is the easiest to set up and use and can be used with different files?  I already bought one but can not get it set up to be able to use.  Bought from Expresscribe to use with their program and have had no help.  Brought in a computer guy.  No help.  So I am stuck with this pedal and can't use it.  I am now looking to buy another one.  Any recommendations?
FOOT PEDAL
It is a USB port pedal.  It wasn't so much as they would not help me, I got aggravated waiting 2-3 days in between e-mails and trying things that did not work.  It has something to do with no driver.  So now I am looking for a universal foot pedal to make it easier for me to find a secondary account.
foot pedal
I have a converter I bought from Radio Shack - I have one that converts USB to 9 pin and another one that converts 9 pin to USB
Foot pedal
I am working for a company, renting a computer and foot pedal. I discovered I could use my own computer so want to send their equipment back. Their foot pedal is a 15 pin pedal. I have a 15 pin pedal of my own, looks identical to theirs. When I plug my foot pedal into the game port on their computer it does not work. I need to know what I need to do to my own foot pedal to make it work on the game  port on my own computer. I am so technologically challenged. Does anyone know what I need to do?
Foot Pedal
If you are using express scribe then change the port option inside change the port options. If you are using game port then click on the game port options inside. Hopefully it will work.
In need of 9 pin foot pedal

If anyone has a 9-pin foot pedal for sale, let me know.  Thank you!!

in-USB Foot Pedal
I am a recent graduate and looking for a job.  In the meantime, I want to be sure I have the right equipment.  I have a standard cassette transcriber with foot petal, but have been told that I should have something that works directly with my PC (mine may be outdated).  Do I need to purchase software if I buy an IN-USB foot pedal?  The equipment/software requirements are a bit confusing.  Any information would be helpful. Thank you.
Foot pedal
Sorry.  Don't know of any free one to download.  If you haven't already, you can go to your Express Scribe screen, click on Help, then click on Foot Pedal control.   It has a lot of information that might be helpful.
foot pedal
You can download the free Express Scribe software to download dictation files. I have used Express Scribe with my Infinity 9-pin serial port foot pedal and it worked just fine. I purchased my foot pedal on ebay so it wasn't that expensive because I was just starting out. You should not spend a ton of money on foot pedals in the beginning until you get a job and know what program the company you are working for uses. Not all foot pedals are created equal. Some programs require a certain type of footpedal.
foot pedal - sm

Thanks for your reply. I am not very technical when it comes to these things. So what you are saying is that in order to use Express Scribe, you have to have a 9 pin serial foot pedal? If so, I will go on ebay and try to get one since I need to test for several companies..I have never tested on line before. Thanks for your help.

Lucy

foot pedal
I'm not the most technical person either, but you can use a USB foot pedal with ExpressScribe. I will try to include a link here to a USB pedal that shows what it works with, will not work with Dictaphone ExText. I think my choice would be USB. I do know there are a few companies out there that do require a 9-pin pedal only, but I think things are moving more and more towards USB. The lap top I just bought doesn't even have a serial port, you have to buy the docking station to get one, although I think sometimes you can use some kind of adapter. I have used USB pedal with ExpressScribe to test on it. The technical board is a good place to ask questions, too.
